Poor service

Went on a Washington DC trip with my son through his middle school April of 2023. The AC was broken on the bus and we had over 80 degree temperatures. The windows didnt open. The AC finally got fixed on the last day of the trip. The tour guide took us on a tour of the FDR memorial in the dark and most of the memorial isnt lite. She told us we could go to the Air and Space museum. When we arrived they told us you needed to reserve passes ahead of time. The passes were sold out for the day. We spent 25 minutes walking there. With a limited amount of time we didnt get to see a museum of our choice and we rushed through a different nearby museum. There were no discussions of recent historical events like the January 6th riot. She said she couldnt get political even though she told us twice that her sister worked under the Obama administration in the White House. Never use this tour / travel company.

Horrible People and call there emergency number to test there response! There is none!!!!!

6/12/22 Our trip started as any long day of travel we reached Baltimore and boarded a dirty bus, oh well its just to the hotel. So we drive the 3hrs to the hotel getting there at 11:30 pm and getting situated with all the rooms and kids. 6/13/22 We board the same dirty bus and start to drive to James town but the bus is stuffy but since its morning its not hot yet. We arrive at Jamestown and spend approximately 2hrs there and then get back on the bus around 11:30 am. We then find out the bus is hot with no air conditioning and its a horrible drive as we go to eat at Plaza Azteca Mexican restaurant. As we are seating at the table across from our children one waitress is being very rude to the students because they asked for no sour cream and they brought the food with sour cream so much that the mother tells the waitress hey dont talk to her daughter like that. Then they switched waitresses and the food was no good. We then get back onto the hot bus and it talked us to Williamsburg governors palace. Around 1:30 pm We get dropped off and told to look around and meet back at Lulu lemons at 4:30 pm. The weather is not 95 degrees and humidity is high at 56% which makes it feel like 105 degrees which I have pictures of all of this. We travel around on foot and at 4:30 pm we meet our world strides tour guide who says our buses air conditioning has not been fixed yet, WTF ok not her fault but the bus driver had three hours to get a replacement bus or to fix the air!!! So we head to buy the kids 31 flavors to cool down we then head to the bus and it is so hot in the bus it felt like a 100 degrees and then the humidity was even worst. So then the world strides tour guide says that they ordered a new bus and that it will be here in two hours that if we get on the bus and drive to TGIF to eat after dinner the new bus will be here. So we get on the bus and at the stop signs and signals the temperature goes so high because no air flow that the kids start to feel sick. We final arrive at TGIF and they get all the kids water right away. We final start to cool and sit down to eat, after about 1-1/2 hrs around 5:45-6 pm we here that the bus is still on its way and they are sending a mechanic too but again its going to be 2 hrs. Since we cannot stay at TGIF until 8:00 pm the waitress there who was great gave all the kids large togo cups with ice water and I ended up finding a miniature golf park that the kids could enjoy and kill time instead of waiting in the parking lot of TGIF. So again we sick it up and head back into the oven that is called a bus and proceed to the golf park. Once there we have the kids start to play and world strides tour guide stays behind to work with the bus company along with the principal and the main teacher. After sometime I go to check on the bus and find out that the bus company is not going to send a mechanic or new bus that they want us to suck it up and go on the BUS WITHOUT AIR AND DRIVE FOR THREE HOURS BACK TO THE HOTEL!!! That the company called us pretentious for making a big deal of the air not working!!! So now am heated by law FEDERAL LAW you cannot put children into a hot bus with no air flow and expect them to drive for three hours its a violation of OSHA!!! Look at the San Antonio immigrants that died being locked in a hot truck with no air!!! So I tell everyone I will find a way to get us back to the hotel without getting on that bus!!! I find a new bus company that is willing to come pick us up and take us to our hotel!!! Why did I have to find the bus company where was world strides supposedly the tour guide and teacher called the emergency number but no one answered!!! So I final get a bus to come get us but we need somewhere to have the kids safe for the two hours till the bus gets there. So again I have to call around to find a place not the bus company, not world strides me a passenger on this trip not getting paid to do the work of your staff!!! I find the movie tavern so again we have to sweat on the bus and travel to the movie place where the manager and staff are so nice they allow us to take our luggage off the bus and keep it in the theater which only has our trip goers to prevent issues with other people coming into the theater. Finally at 11:30 pm our wonderful bus driver Wayne from Richmond limousine arrived with a clean bus with AiR CONDITIONING and the tvs work who then puts on a movie for the kids and drives us 3-3 1/2 hours to our hotel. We finally arrive with our children tired sleepy and frustrated that it took a parent to get us to our destination with no help from World Strides/ DC luxury coach llc. We meet another world strides person who I inform that they need to take care of the bus driver Wayne from Richmond Limo who came to our rescue and tip that person for helping us and she informed us that world strides will take care of it. So we are informed that we will be able to have the children sleep in 1 hour till 8:30 am before we leave to Arlington. 6/14/22 So again we get a different bus but same horrible driver with the microphone system not working in the new bus along with the TVs come on horrible buses. We March on and do a now rushed version of all the spots we are suppose to see but very rushed threw them and we almost make it a day with no issues except on the drive back to the hotel the chargers and plugs all start to turn off and on every-time the bus hits bumps on the road. What a great bus company and I will show and tell you why very soon. 6/15/22 Ok so the 14th didnt go to bad other than the rushing through all the sites. But again we are rushed throughout the sites on the 15th and after the church headed to lunch at a mall the bus stalls and the driver was having trouble starting it. After a little time it did start but now since that and the other rushing we have only 15 min to get and eat our food. Wow thanks for the enjoyment. So we scramble some more and final get to some sites and as we are wrapping up the day we get back on the bus to close out the night and get ready to enjoy the last day. But as we jump on the bus we go about two-three blocks and pull over on a busy roadway and then we start to hear arguing from the front so I stand up and go up front just to hear the tour guid MJ tell the bus owner that he cant speak like that and cant do that to us because there is kids on the bus. The teacher fills me in and tells me that the bus company wants to cross all lanes of traffic, face the opposite way of traffic and have our bus jump start another bus with no people in it so they can get the other bus up and working. We are only 20 min from our hotel it would be no problem to take us drop us off and then go get the other bus. Who are we kidding they way this company treats people we know whats going to happen. Since its unsafe for children to be on the bus facing the wrong way of traffic the bus company told us our two choices are to stay on the bus or exit the bus on the side of a busy roadway. So the principal decided for the safer of the two options so we exited our bus with all of our belongings and the world strides tour guide MJ was so mad but again nothing seemed to help her even when she called the 800 emergency number. So we had the children up on a wall when traffic is going by at 9:08 pm sitting on a wall praying and hoping that a car doesnt lose control and smack into anyone. ( Let me pose a question what if we had special need students how would that have been handle the same way its disgusting how you allow your contractors to treat your paying clients remember they represent you when we are in there presence its still a reflection upon World Strides). So after the bus company drops us off the driver crosses all lanes of traffic to back up to the bus and then with out any safety vest or reflectors the drivers get out and attempt to jump start the other bus. After some time guess what the other bus doesnt start and our driver then drives away and we are all seating there and the kids start to worry asking do you think the driver will come back for us. Now thats a legitimate question considering how we have been treated by the driver and the bus company. So after some time the driver agin pulls up to the curb in front of us and opens the door so now we are boarding the bus against a busy street when the bus is blocking a a lane of traffic as cars go around to avoid hitting the back of the bus Safety at its finest makes me think what about the other schools are they going through this type of treatment. Finally we start to head to the bus and again we arrive at the hotel late again and this time they want us to hand out frostys to the kids and must of the kids just want to get ready for bed, so about 10:36 pm come get frostys from world strides yeah!!! 6/16/22 the day begins with a new driver and a new bus why did it take 3 days to get a bus that was somewhat decent? I asked other schools if they had similar issues and one group from Texas said that they had a bus with No AC the day after ours went out but that they got them a bus right away. Another group said they had a flat tire and missed the whole day and were taken back to the hotel!!! So we again are rushed all over so we can make our flight to go home so we run from spot to spot and then we are on our own for the time being until they pick us up to drive us to the airport. Finally we are headed home away from the one of the worst trips I have ever heard, seen and had the unpleasant pleasure of being apart of.. So now lets see if your customer service department reads the full story or just leaves it alone??? Please contact me for any questions or concerns regarding this email. With no response from the company at all.

Refund

This company promised a full refund if for any reason. We would have to cancel. I had to cancel with several months notice. I have been emailing and calling asking for my refund. I have spoken with one representative after being on hold for 48 minutes. He stated that I would get a refund within 90 days. I am at my 90 day time period and have not received a refund. I have attempted to call and can never reach a person. I send emails and never get a response.

Confirm trip Cancellation

Called to cancel trip. Representative stated the trip was going to be canceled but no confirmation email received yet. The school just contacted me reporting the trip is not canceled. Could you please help solve this matter? Thank you

Paid for full trip cancelation, had to cancel, they refuse a full refund.

It's a scam, even when you pay the fee for full cancelation. They refuse to refund your money, I'll be going to the bank and filing a lawsuit against world strides.Do not use this scam

I keep getting auto response emails that someone will contact me in 24-48 hours. No one ever has.

I call and I am told we will look into it and get back to you, no one ever does. This company is a joke.

They refunded some $, but then are not refunding the rest, stating that they issued it to a closed account. They don't answer phones or e-mails, just keep getting auto responses stating that someone will get back to me in 24-48 hours. No one ever does. This company is sketchy and I hope they are held accountable for THEFT!

Where is my refund

Cancelled trip due to COVID - Where's my refund? That is a great question. 10- 12 weeks for processing - still waiting. I called my Senior Program Consultant that is working on it with accounting. DO I NEED A LAWYER to get my money back or contact my bank for a fraudulent purchase ?? Do not use this company - regardless of you getting the insurance or not.D

My daughter and I signed up for a trip to Ireland to perform in the St Patrick's day parade in March of 2020. 2 days before departure the trip was canceled due to covid. Worldstrides finally offered to refund to those affected by this. After waiting 10 weeks for the refund. I only received a small portion of what I paid. I am a single mother and work very hard to provide for my daughters and to be taken advantage of by a company that is supposed to provide memorable trips is highly disheartening!! I am disgusted by the memory this company has provided for me and my daughter her senior year.

Failed Refund

Daughter had a trip planned Feb 2020. I had purchased travel insurance to protect against unexpected problems. Despite dozens of phone calls and emails promising the refund was in process nothing has happened. Literally 6 months of this nonsense. Honestly it would be better for the company to just admit they weren't going to pay the refund instead of these non-stop lies. I have idea how the people there get through their day.

No refund

DOMy story is the same as everyone elses on here. The checks in the mail has been told to me now for MONTHS. The trip was scheduled June1-4. They also will not refund $230 of insurance money, but then again, they havent refunded anything thus far. I need help! This company is disgusting

Still no refund

Our school was scheduled to take a trip to Washington DC the first week of June 2020. It was rescheduled to next summer but my child cannot attend. I have been told our refund would arrive "this week" every single week since the first week of July. I am beginning to get very concerned that we will never get our money back and I have no idea what to do.

I'm confused on their return during this pandemic

I'm confused on the having insurance protection part for my trip. I paid to have insurance on my trips -- $169 for myself and $169 for my daughter. I did receive all my funds back since the trip had to be canceled due to COVID-19, (except for a few light fees....?? What is up with that?), and I DID NOT receive credit for the insurance protections. I'm confused on this part, because that actually goes out the window during this pandemic. I have insurance, but thousands didn't, and they get their trips refunded during COVID-19, so why do they get to keep my money for insurance protection when it shouldn't count during a pandemic! Totally confused and this is totally wrong and not right! Make it right WORLDSTRIDES! Refund us our trip insurance fees. THIS IS A PANDEMIC! NOT THAT I AM CANCELING ON MY OWN!
