Tricked!!!!

Original review Aug 28, 2023
This company has been a burden since we were tricked into signing up with them. Westgate Palace employs lying salespeople and they know they are safe because you cant prove they lied to you. We were baited and switched. We were told we could rent it out, but the first time I called to do that I was told it wasnt possible. We have been trying for over two years to return this unused timeshare to the company and they are refusing. We told them there had been a change in finances that made it impossible for us to afford, they dont care. So this valuable investment is nothing by a money making scam from Westgate Palace to cheat people out of their hard-earned money. When the money runs out they destroy familys lives. Dont believe the hype and if you do get tricked into a meeting-read up on rescission periods for the state you are in before you go

Their Timeshared is a loophole, save yourself a lot of trouble and don't get into that

If you want a lifetime of bills with nothing to show for it-Westgate Lakes is the place for you! They will trap you in a sales meeting and the only way to escape is to sign up. Then each year there will be more and more fees, on top of not actually being able to USE your property. Dont expect Westgate Lakes to respond to any requests to return this valuable investment. They encourage their salespeople to lie and then hold you to a contract that has no connection to what you were told you are getting

Horrible company

We have been scammed and then ignored by Westgate Resorts. At this point we dont even want to travel to Gatlinburg ever because we know those vipers will be waiting for us. We were told during a presentation that took an entire day of our vacation that there would be all kinds of benefits to buying this timeshare. None of these benefits actually exist! When we contacted Westgate resorts, the response was that we couldnt prove what the salespeople told us, so we were out of luck! We were told this wouldnt affect our credit and it has to such an extent that we cant purchase a home for our family. We were told each time we did take a vacation that the previous salesperson had messed something up and they needed us to sign new contracts! We never signed, it was always a way to get a new contract, a new sale so they could take even more money from us. Westgate Resorts is the worst company out there from our research! No town should allow them to even build a resort there.

I was forced to make a decision to purchase a timeshare without ample time to make an informed decision.

As loyal customers of Westgate Resorts, we were appalled by the unprofessional behavior of one of their concierges during our prayer time. Interrupting our religious practice with a forceful knock and a persistent demeanor, they proceeded to provide us with faulty information and promises of endless travel opportunities. Despite our repeated attempts to inquire about the proposed offer and the associated costs, the concierge spoke over us and failed to provide us with clear answers. To our disappointment, we later found out that the offer was a timeshare program that was unaffordable for our family. Despite our firm rejection of the offer, we have been denied the option to cancel and receive a full refund. We strongly believe that Westgate Resorts was in the wrong for providing us with false and incomplete information at the time of purchase. We have been loyal customers and have paid our unit in full, and yet we feel disrespected and undervalued. Therefore, we urge Westgate Resorts to promptly address this issue by honoring our request for cancellation and providing us with a full refund. We also bring this incident to their attention as a clear violation of professional conduct and ethics, which has caused us great distress and inconvenience. We trust that Westgate Resorts will take the necessary actions to rectify this issue and prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.

Rude Management/Crazy pet Policies

Deceptive advertising on RCI. Very rude manager at Westgate Lakes resort in Branson, MO. They state on RCI they are pet friendly, but when you call its only for dogs or small horses??? Our small bird with clipped wings which resides in a small carry cage was unwelcome at this resort but has been welcome and no problem at any other pet friendly resort on RCI. The manager didn't care that their ad on RCI didn't specify 60 lb dogs or small horses as the only pets they'd accept and didn't care if we could not get our money back because they didn't specify these facts on their RCI site. Avoid these people. If they are not specifying these details, you know there are others they are hiding. And, they clearly don't care if they ruin a family vacation and cost people points and exchange fees they cannot get back.

Awful Service, Bed Bugs, Dirty Rooms etc.

We have explained our situation to Westgate Resorts and the issues we have had since we came on board with them. We feel as though we have been abandoned and abused by the system. We asked them to listen. To understand the difficulties weve been facing and each time we speak to one of their representatives, we get the same cold response: We received a phone call yesterday from Mr. Marion Watkins around 4:00 pm and he stated what our balance was $26,814, and wanted to make payment arrangements. We reiterated that we couldn't afford to pay, that we are retired and elderly, and that we had sent them multiple letters about this. He stated that there was nothing in place at this time for us and would get back in touch if anything changed. He said that he didn't know when but that we could send a payment. He appeared uninterested in what we had previously sent and was speaking on behalf of Westgate Resorts. We know that other people have canceled timeshares and helped others by returning their property. We dont know if those people had financial difficulties or hindering health ailments, but we do. We have provided medical, financial, and written proof that shows that we need their help, and they have provided nothing to us.

I would like in on the law suit , we can never get booked anywhere either. We were told we were buying an elite cabin at the top of the mountain. It was to be built in 22. All lies

We were told we were buying or upgrading into a elite membership where they will be building a new cabin. Were only certain members were allowed to book that never happened. All lies. We also try to book at different locations and they are never available. We have over $60,000 invested now.

Dissatisfied with the customer service, starting with the waitress, food and the cook.Tried to celebrate my intimate Wedding event for a party of 4 and all of us became sick with COVID-19 !

I called Benihana one week before my Wedding Ceremony at the Westgate Resorts and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada to make reservations for a small intimate party of four guests and due to COVID-19 I requested reservations to a small table apart from the large Teppanyaki tables as I know well that usually large groups of people are seated together for the Chef's cooking and entertainment mini show. The waitress disregarded and ignored my request and proceeded to sit us at the Teppanyaki table, when I did not want to sit down she repeated that those tables were the only ones available for dinner (it was 5:00 p.m.) I did not want to make my quests uncomfortable and thus agreed to sit at the Teppanyaki table. The waitress handed us the menus and walked away, within a few minutes she approached the table and sat down a group of 4 people that seemed to be 2 couples. I became mildly upset and stood up to tell the waitress that I did not want anyone else seated at our table as I was celebrating my wedding and to please remove us from that table to another table at a private location as the restaurant is very large with three floors. The waitress insisted that typically all Teppenyaki table have a large group of people seated together. I told her that I was celebrating my wedding and that I wanted to sit alone with my quest and husband. She ignored me and handed the menu to the people she sat down and walked away. Soon after, she returned with the Chef that would cook our meals at the Teppenyaki table and took everyone's order. She then whispered into the Chef's ear something while he was looking at me. Well, to make a long story short. The Chef did not serve me what I ordered and served me burned onions and mushrooms and hardly served me the chicken and seafood that I had ordered. My husband, who told the waitress and the Chef that he could not eat onions and mushrooms, was served an abundance of burnt onions and mushrooms. I, being the bride, was the last person on the table to be served. The Chef had served everyone at the table large portions of seafood and other food items and when it came to my husband and me, our plates were half full and contained a lot of burnt onions and mushrooms with a bit of medium rare meat. As I continued to wait for my order Chicken and Seafood to be cooked, the Chef began to pour two different types of solutions on the table which I thought he was going to use to prepare my meal... well he actually began to clean the table and left my plate unattended next to the solutions he was using to clean the table. When I realized that the Chef had finished cooking all the meals, I told my husband to hand me over my plate as apparently, the Chef was cleaning the table. On the next day, my husband and I woke up sick with cough, chills and fever, bodily aches and weak. We recalled that the older man seated at our table was coughing constantly, and the sound of thick phloem and congestion was apparent. No one was wearing a mask as we were all eating, but apparently he was very sick and the others with him, and we became ill as well. Days later, we visited a hospital as my husband could not breathe nor walk much, and we were diagnosed with COVID-19. Another week pasted by, when I decided to telephone my quests to thank them for attending my wedding and the wife informed me that her husband became very ill and she slightly as she had experienced COVID-19 last year. I have been trying to contact the Corporate office to complain of the outcome of the waitress and the retaliation of the Chef as their bad behavior ruined my wedding dinner and exposed my husband's, quests and my life to the deadly COVID-19 Virus. Nearly three weeks have pasted from my wedding dinner at Benihana at the Westgate Resorts and Casino and we are still sick with the after math of COVID-19. My advice to all thinking of eating at Benihana, is to make sure you are seated at the table of your choice and to be respected by the waitress and Chef, as your health and possibly life is then in their hands. If you feel disrespected then please get up and walk out, as you will regret sitting there and taking the unnecessary mistreatment.

Poor Service as an Owner

Please make sure this gets to management in charge of Westgate Resorts. The Pettiford family stayed from 12/24/2021 - 12/31/2021. As owners, we were very disturbed by the poor service during our stay. First, we did not have hot water in 5217A until the last night. Three technicians came out and none were able to resolve the issue. We got lucky the last night. Second, we called several times for trash to be picked up and no one came to pick up the trash. I have pictures of the trash that remained uncollected for the week. We were told by our agent that we are to get a $100 credit. We were unable to meet Alyssa as we were trying to enjoy our vacation and not receive any other sales efforts (we were called several times). We expect the $100 credit to be mailed to us expeditiously. Lastly, it took a few technicians to get our temperature right in the unit. It remained on 76 degrees most of the time. Considering we pay monthly as owners yet received this poor service, as compensation, Westgate should pay our 2022 Maintenance fees. We look to take further action if our request is not granted. Thanks you and Happy New Year. B

Bait and switch

I have owned at Westgate for over 20 years. I checked into Westgate Smoky Mountains and received a unit that is not similar to what I reserved or what I own. The management here is unresponsive and keep passing me around to people who are of no help. Unless you are here for their timeshare presentation, you may get a unit looking at a wall of air conditioners as your only natural light. Our bedroom window is next to the parking lot and shuttle stop. Not only unsafe, but a total lack of privacy. So much for being in the mountains. I call this a breach of contract. There is no customer service or owner appreciation once you sign your contract. They are all about volume and no quality.

Westgate Resort Owners Class Action Lawsuit against Westgate

We are looking for more Westgate Resort Owners to join us in a Class Action Lawsuit against Westgate Resorts. I'm going to FL this summer and will be passing out business cards and putting them in restrooms and gas station so people can join. I'm thinking that once we have enough people. Maybe up to 2,000.00 I would like to set up an up coming dates for protesting in Washington and FL. They need to hear our voices. I don't mine taking off 1 month to do this. I'm still upset the fact that they can still scam other families. Please do the same in your home town. There are free business cards on line you can create.
