Stay away from Tully Rinckey

Do not waste your time or money with Tully Rinckey. Worst law firm ever. I hired them to prepare a QDRO. In over two years and all the money I paid them, the only thing they accomplished was obtaining an incomplete set of investment statements. And two of the attorneys working on my case during that time left the firm or were terminated for incompetence.

These guys are corrupt and I have evidence

Original review Apr 20, 2023
Not BBB accredited by the way. When it came time for a merits assessment, they omitted tons of details I shared with them including recordings and when they denied it, I told them I have emails saved showing I wanted to use it as evidence. They refused to use it then tried to deny me ever mentioning it. They also don't do their job unless you scream at them. I have recordings and correspondence. I'll share with anyone. They are dishonest and the worse. Look at their positive reviews and the history of those who left them.

Warning people who may need legal support but be taken advantage of

Original review Feb 13, 2021
I was desperate for fair nondiscriminatory treatment at my workplace. The process with Zac Ruetz was extremely traumatizing- Zac Ruetz made promises that he would reach out to expedite my mediation date but was unresponsive and then the night before the mediation date was already decided told me that he could not make it. He also directly led to my termination as I reached out to try to resolve an e-mail to which he did not respond entirely. He is absent for a week at a time during time-sensitive periods. Once he has your money he is not interested in your case at all-I also barely consulted him except when needed because of the high fees, but he overcharged every single call so he would not have to return any of the retainer fee-he stretched out and even lied about the times I consulted with him on the phone leaving me with $3. He told me not to worry as I had a "healthy balance" and would return the remainder of the retainer-then I receive the bill and saw that he lied about the amount of time I spent over the phone so he could keep the retainer by keeping inaccurate times! Do not recommend this attorney or law firm at all and wanted to warn other people who may be seeking help.

Screwed

Paid 5k upfront, then additional 3k. My 1st lawyer was great, but she left the company because of their conduct. I was not allowed to leave TR and go with her. I was charged for another lawyer to review her work and submit drafts identical to her original. They would not listen to my request to change council. He did not read legal return or my own explanation of what was wrong. He did, however, charge me to get advice from another lawyer. DON'T GIVE THEM A DIME! I left and got matters resolved quickly for a fraction of what I lost to them. Their responses were: none, automated, or only if posted on social media.

Rip-off plain and simple

Hired the legal firm for my son. He had some issues around driving his car shortly after earning his license. I was quoted one price to retain the attorney. I figured it was a fair price because the one other attorney I'd hired was approximately $500 more. Well, little did I know the DA and my attorney, Zachary Ruetz, had some history. Long story short, they keep putting it back on the court calendar to appear in cost, thus costing more and more money. Then bills started coming in the mail. Wait, didn't I already pay them? They claim we owe ~$1500 more. I paid over $1100 of that amount and they still are hounding me. I had them send an invoice and believe it or not, they're charging me for phone calls made to the attorney. He would ALWAYS say, just call if you have questions. So, I did. Had no idea I was being charged. RIP OFF - Do not do business with them. I have never heard of being charged 20 minutes for a phone call that lasted 2 minutes.

Poor communication

Feb 2019 security clearance case. Called and presented my case was told one price and when he left the company the prices change. I paid $2000 above what I was quoted. I expected lawyers to help structure your case to better the defense. Not Tobey Hackett, a military lawyer who’s only defense is “look at the whole person concept”. I could have save myself $7000 to do that. His lies that he only lost one case which turns out that he loses. When instead he loses most of them. Then after the case they charged me another $100 to tell me I lost. STAY AWAY FROM TULLY RICKNEY AND ESPECIALLY TOBEY HACKET. He had the nerve to tell me I was rude because I asked a lot of questions . This review is NOT because I lost but because of the misrepresentation of the company, pricing, and how well the staff treats the customer. They charge you a whole lot of money for something you can do yourself.

Abandoned by my attorney

I am currently involved in a lawsuit with the federal government. The attorney that was appointed to me from the firm was late to our first conference call with the judge. The day our witness list was due to the judge, she called me at 11 PM to try to put it together. I texted her information and she still got it wrong. The first person on the witness list was a person that I had emailed her twice and sent his obituary. She listed a DEAD GUY as our first witness. Then I received questions from the opposing attorney to complete. CRICKETS. I have not heard from her in 2 weeks, but I got an invoice for over $3,000 in attorneys fees. Unbelievable.

Unethical, unprofessional and arrogant

I retained a lawyer, Mike Macomber, based on a recommendation from someone that knew him. the case was an employment issue, regarding harassment, wrongful termination and unpaid wages. At the consultation, M. Macomber was very personable and seemed genuinely interested and concerned. He explained what he could do for me, and expressed it would be a relatively quick and positive outcome. 11 months and $5,000 later, my case was dismissed and never even made it to a hearing. M.Macomber never submitted any of he information I provided his associate with, in fact, he never even looked at it. He passed everything off to his associate, who then left the firm, and it took me numerous e-mails and phone calls before I was notified of that. I would have to call and e-mail several times before I would get a reply. Most of what he said he would do, he didn't. I was constantly getting calls asking for more money, even though he knew I would have to borrow it, due to being out of work. I was told if I didn't pay more, then he would not continue on my case. I was also told that my case was not nearly as important as the one's who are paying him thousands of dollars a week. I found out the outcome of my 9 days prior to my attorney notifying me. No phone call, no explanation, no apology or suggestions; just a short paragraph asking if I wanted to appeal. Since then I have received an email, a phone call and a copy of a bill, stating that I still owe him $275.00. I am Disappointed, Angry and Disgusted!!!! Read less ***7 weeks later I received a message, asking me to contact them, and that they wanted to resolve issue. I did, but still have heard nothing from them. After receiving the worst possible representation ever, I tried reaching out to the firm via phone calls, email, and I even wrote a letter , however, nobody would reply to me. It wasn't until I wrote a review in the YELP site, that someone got back to me. I was told to call or email them ASAP to resolve the problem. Well I did that, and 2 weeks later, I still haven't heard from anyone! What a joke of a firm!,

was told by the second lawyer if I wanted to take my case to court I would have to pay 10000 $ HE knows I dident have that kind of money so I had to drop my case .he did this to help opposing lawyers . it still cost me 15000$ to get to that point 3 years . when I asked him if I did pay to go to court could I get legal fees included in my settlement he told me he never heard of such a thing ? Over bill and poor representation

Used this firm for an ROTC issue. Do NOT waste your money. The attorney made the situation worse and they even billed me for a stamp when they dumped us for client! It's a joke. They pull the bait and switch. You talk to an extremely knowledgeable attorney and then are turned over to an attorney from *** F'ed that charges you outrageous amounts of money for travel. $150.00/hr for sitting on an plane. I could have driven to pick the guy up cheaper or hired a cab for what they charged me. Still fighting over bogus charges. If you are looking for a lawyer, keep looking unless you have disposable income.

Would not recommend

Handled my bankruptcy. Went in with requirement that property was taken as a "deed in lieu" as this was the reason for the bankruptcy. Was told it was not a problem. The case was handed off to another lawyer who on the court date, had no idea what I was talking about. I would just have to wait for the foreclosure. That took 4 years. Their mistake has cost me a mortgage, since the bankruptcy was old enough that it would not be held against me, but the 4 year delay in the foreclosure, was held against me. I am still dealing every year with companies purchasing the debt that was written off in the bankruptcy. I had to pay an accountant to straightened that mess out. They did almost nothing right for ma on this. WATCH OUT. They'll get you to sign on the dotted line and pass you off to a less than competent lawyer.

Horrible service

I am going through a divorce...15 months later I am still going through my divorce. I have paid 3000, our assets were already split, we have a custody arrangement set up, the house is being taken care of. Should be no problem, right? 15 months later.....I feel like I am not a priority or even on their radar. I feel as though when I do call them and tell them who I am, they are "out of the office" or "in a meeting". I leave messages and they don't get returned. I wished I had never went there. Well now it is holiday season....GREAT!!

Mike Boyle is the only good attorney there.

I used Attorney Mike Boyle for a Chapter 7, great guy, responsive, everything you could ask for. Then we use another attorney there, a woman that does all the intake for the firm. Well we were doing estate planning, a simple will, several months later, maybe 9 month, nothing.. I told my sister to ask for a refund...got it the next day! Then I used another Attorney John ? for legal issues and months later...still nothing. He does not call me at all, I have to call him. Nothing to show progress or lack there of. Every time I ask what is going on, his answer is, they haven't returned my call? Really, for 3 months.. what's up with that?

Promises, promises with no results

Lawyers given toooo many cases to work for clients. Concerned more about being paid. Lawyer MILL. Stay away from this firm if you want satisfaction. Go with a firm that cares about the client and not padding the wallet when you are most vulnerable. Hired Tully Legal to represent me in a custody issue and would have been better off representing myself as the attorney assigned to me entered the courtroom not knowing the case. Thought I was paying the high price for good representation - don't be fooled - more glitter then substance. Interview the attorney brfore you pay and stay away from Tully Legal

Very dissatisfied with what I feel to be shameful and weak representation. Over billed by "attorneys" while most real legwork and weak leg work at that was conducted by Paralegals.

I have the exact same complaint! Pay the retainers, they give you a wonderful feeling about how there going to go to work for you etc. Then, you never hear a blessed thing from them until its time to collect more money. You could easily bankrupt yourself hiring this firm. My attorney had no aggression whatsoever with sticking up for me. I basically, made all the decisions myself. Icing on the cake came when during a phone call after he represented me for several months he called me by the wrong name. I understand that they have more than one client but calling someone back at the end of the day on your drive home and billing them a small fortune for it is ridiculous beyond words, calling the wrong name granted sounds petty but its telling of what these people are about, money. Building a business, in this case this law firm, is great, but not at the expense of your SERVICE. I have a problem with paying 3,4,500 an hour for an attorney whom thinks they are the next Johnny Cochrane when in reality there just an overpaid windbag. If I had listened to my gut rather than others I would have gone and gotten a small town attorney whom actually has the chance of running into you at the grocery store. At least in that scenario, they'll give you there best effort. I'm not stating they must win but I truly believe with a competent attorney or at least one whom remotely cared about me as a HUMAN being I would have gotten a much better outcome. Instead I got a guy whom didn't give a *** about me and bilked me for nothing. Shame on me for being so nave and trusting. Please Please don't go with a large firm. Interview your attorneys before you hire them. These people WORK FOR YOU not the other way around.

SCAM Crooked Lazy Attorneys

I agree with many other complainants. Tully Rinckey law firm is the worst firm on the planet - DO NOT HIRE THIS FIRM!!!The firm over billed me and did NOTHING about my case. I lost my case because of Tully Rinckey. First of all, I talked to them and asked them if they could get the original police report and not the redacted police report. Rinkey said yeah, yeah no problem. That was the main reason I hired them. They did not even try to get the police report! Second, they did not submit my witnesses to the agency. The agency wanted to see my witnesses and Tully Rinckey did not supply my witnesses. That was the reason I lost my case! Third, they kept over billing me over and over for really minor ridiculous things. The partner Rinckey handed my case over to a Greg Zappia and a Theresa Levine. I gave Theresa Levine my witness list! Greg Zappia and Theresa Levine were both lazy, passive, incompetent, dishonest, and had a dont give a *** attitude about my case but they were happy to keep billing me out of my $5,000. Hey people, get this, after I told them I was unhappy with them Greg Zappia bills me for calling him and asks me to pay for a plane trip to Asia so he could represent me in a deposition. ***, are you kidding me? The lazy rotten jack *** scam artist expected me to pay for a free trip to Asia and hotel for him. Why would I do that? He showed no passion and put forth no effort so why would I pay for an expensive plane fare and hotel fee for this worthless, lame duck, toothless, cocker spaniel ***? These *** people will lie to you. They are lazy and incompetent. Run - run as fast as you can and do not hire these deplorable troglodytes. They give attorneys a very bad name! I agree they are a body shop of scam artists. Run!!! The Tully Rinckey law firm is the worst firm on the planet - DO NOT HIRE THIS FIRM!!! The Tully Rinckey law firm is the worst firm on the planet - DO NOT HIRE THIS FIRM!!! The Tully Rinckey law firm is the worst firm on the planet - DO NOT HIRE THIS FIRM!!!The Tully Rinckey law firm is the worst firm on the planet - DO NOT HIRE THIS FIRM!!! I didn't like: Being lied to and over billed.
