Cancellation and refund grief
I booked 4 hotel rooms and the currency was in NZD on Trivago - I was sent to a 3rd party site and the amount defaulted to USD. After completing the booking, I saw that the payment on my credit card was a LOT more than expected. The booking allowed free cancellation by March 2024 so I emailed them and requested a cancellation and refund immediately. I haven't heard anything back from them and have sent 2 subsequent emails. I contacted Trivago and they said: "Once you click on a deal, we forward you to the booking site of your choice where you complete your booking and payment. Thats why we recommend getting in touch with your booking site. They are responsible for all requests related to your reservation." I will continue to try to get the refund that I am owed but lesson learned, NEVER use Trivagoa

Trivago sent me to Algotel for the booking. Algotel use of bait and switch on their website from an original refundable reservation changed to a nonrefundable reservation once the reservation was completed and then taking no responsibility for the deceptive marketing practices.
