LIES, DECEIT, PRESSURE

I was approached at breakfast by a TS agent who asked if I would come and take a brief look at their program. I agreed only if it wouldnt be long because I needed to go back to the room to take my medication. He walked me to a separate building. That in itself took a while. The entire time he was telling me that TS has a yacht at its properties which made me interested because my daughter would love the yacht. Anyway they have me wait at the new building and by this time Im getting more unsteady because I needed my meds. They see me leaving and rush me into an upper level where they sit me with a very loud and intimidating salesman. I informed him I need to return to the room for meds but he insisted the info was brief. Hours later so sick I could barely walk they signed me up all along saying there were yachts at the properties.

From TS customer of 5 years: Travel Smart is absolute 100% scam, do not get caught!

I am another unfortunate TravelSmart customer with the membership from 2017. Travel Smart unilaterally changed the old benefit system with points and special/bonus weeks to some discounted rate with eliminating agreed upon terms and conditions and, hence, breaching the contracts signed before 2021. Travel Smart has used pushy deceitful and inappropriate practices for selling their membership which, as I understood later, eventually brings zero value to their customers. Their straightforward lies on the would be benefits that I was promised such as RCI or Owners link only add up to the frustration. They would not initially tell you that some resorts do not have Diamond Club or use TS point system, such as in Cuba and Planet Hollywood. They would never disclose that no one will meet you for personalized check-in if you arrive after 8pm to their resorts because they have already left. They would never have any room upgrades for you despite of this being promised in the contract and will always say its subject to availability, and there will be NO availability for you ever unless you pay them extra with cash. And they love cash! Everything they offer as their Member services is easily available to all other customers without paying thousands for this VIP vacation treatment. There are better and cheaper opportunities of other travel companies offering vacations which do provide much more positive experience without lies and aggressive practices that Travel Smart uses with its customers. I deeply regret making a decision to become a member of the TS in March 2017 as I feel like being a victim of TravelSmart pushy selling practices and promises that never came true. I had horrific experience with Travel Smart affiliated resorts few last times that I visited them specifically the last one in Planet Hollywood in Cancun which I will always remember as a worst nightmare for my entire family. There are no reasonable cancellation options of the membership besides the first few days after the purchase. The situation of the customer can change. Someone might not like to travel at all anymore or feel like it for personal reasons. There are members of TS that I know which have their spouse deceased and unwilling/unable to travel due to financial and/or psychological reasons. Travel Smart offers no consideration of these matters and just continues to push for money payments without any value offered. They also have been sharing their clients information including email/phone and address with third party fraudsters who up to this day contact me to offer selling my membership to them which is another scam on top of what Travel Smart already is. If you stop annual membership payments which increase substantially every single year, Travel Smart will be spamming you on a weekly bases or even few times a week with both voice messages and threatening emails about late fees and reporting your account credit (which it is not because membership fees is not considered a credit). Meanwhile they will be procuring your credit card information from Visa or Mastercard even when you withdraw your authorization for it in writing. Eventually they might offer you to transfer your membership for $300 and paying all late fees without disclosing to whom this transfer will be happening and on which terms so that they can get some more money from you in the end. I am also aware of the fulfilled re-imbursement request in 2018 from Travel Smart to my friend who was a TS member and found herself in a similar situation such as myself. She regretted a decision to purchase a TS club membershipand requested a re-imbursement which was fulfilled by TS despite no such conditions in her initial contract. So TS had acted against the conditions initially signed in a TS contract.Why similar approach can't be used for others?

I have been scammed by someone you should have notified me and many other customers years ago and never ever contacted us to even warn about being scammed and yet you knew about this all along. I will definitely warn others about TRAVELSMART VIP as well as their previous owners( WESTJET and soon to be ONYX CORP. I will not stop with my complaints to you and even owners and as well the Canadian Government Dept. of Citizens Rights and Small Claims court at no cost to us.

Be able to cancel the contract

Membership/ Read contract carefully

My husband and I were bombarded at the airport and promised 2 free excursions and a free breakfast, we should've known it was too good to be true. We spent most of our day there and had to go through them trying to talk us into getting a membership, we did get what we promised plus a paid cab ride there and back. We carefully reviewed our contract before signing and I will tell you where most people go wrong. First they tell you that you can make payments for 5 years and you get a free week stay and a couple half price weeks, followed by years of a discounted rate, plus resort credits and spa credits. What they don't tell you is that you have to pay the whole thing off in order to get your free and half price weeks but you only have 3 years to use them. So I highly recommend that you do not sign up for a membership unless you can pay it off within a year or you will miss out on what was promised to you. We knew this going in and decided to pay it off as soon as we got home and booked our free week right away. We paid $9,000 and our free week at the grand moon palace would've cost us 13,000 plus the resort credit and spa. We are happy customers, but whatever you do, please, please read and double read your contract before signing!!

All Travelsmart reply here is " we are sorry, we are sorry" They will never do anything for you All they want is your money. Accept your loss and walk away Change your phone numbers and credit card Nothing they can do They didn't sell you anything, you own nothing, absolutely nothing And that membership fee is BS. Fee for what. To be in that club and get nothing Don't be afraid of them that they can do something. They just pressure you. Does anybody have any experience with collection companies or court case. I haven't heard. They can't do that because there is nothing to sue you for. Except maybe "These guys don't want to be members of our club"

It doesn't get any worse then this

This is just a big rip off. Just stop paying and walk away. Nothing they can do. All what they do is not legal. Lying, pressuring, not disclosing, missleading and then they make you feel you are stuck with them for life Don't feel you are stuck, let them take you to court. In my contract it states that court in Panama has jurisdiction. Not sure what others have. I will let them to sue me in Panama for not paying membership fee. I am at loss for paying off principle but nobody can force you to be part of club that you don't want to belong to. Don't be naive. Their job is to threaten people and to collect more money for nothing. Why that several hundred membership fee. What are they doing for that money? To keep you in database. Funny guys. If that membership is good they would never need to do what they do. Besides, they leaked members info and we were bombarded with offers from scammers to buy our membership. Like it is worth something

Miss representation

We are a travel smart members and bought our package in 2019 we could not use it until March 2023 due to pandemic issues. To our shocking experience, the booking in line was not easy especially with the private nexus transportation (which we had to book it directly through nexus) and did not get our 20% discounts. When we bought all from travel smart and nexus and the flight separately, we end up paying way more than if we purchased it through a online or an agent total package deal. so the program is useless, and we paid over 20k for nothing, so this is a huge miss representation from the company travel smart sunwing now mariot seems to be partnered with them. We spoke to our butler to his boss to the national manager of travel smart and the MG said he will give us a 35% off anything we buy there. When we check out only got 20% on one item ONLY LOL great communication among them. We will se what to do...

They called me twice yesterday within 2 hours of each other! I'm not interested in traveling to the Caribbean or Mexico or South America! My number is on the National DO NOT CALL list and they called me! You've violated the TCPA. Please someone help me!

Very satisfied

We purchased the travel smart vacation package in 2016 at the Royalton Punta Cana. We have only been able to use it twice and have been very happy with the results. We used it for a condo rental in Orlando. The accommodations were exceptional. We just recently stayed at the Royalton Bavaro in Punta Cana. The resort was amazing. Upon check in they upgraded our rooms to private pools much to our surprise when we saw our rooms. We had adjoining rooms with the family we were travelling with. Our dinner reservations at the al la cartes were made for us. We had no problems with the customer service prior to booking these vacations. Everything was exactly as they promised it would be. We look forward to booking with travel smart again very soon. We were provided transportation to and from the resort, and we received an email upon arrival from our Sunwing representative in the event we had any questions or concerns. After reading many reviews about the travel smart vacations being a scam we were worried that this was a waste of a lot of money. We are happy to say that we are very happy with the package and cannot wait to book our next vacation. Christal

Refused to cancel contract despite drastic terms change

TravelsmartVIP refuses to cancel our contract from 2018, even after they unilaterally changed our points system into a "discount club". That constitutes a material change in contract terms that we did NOT agree to, and they have repeatedly refused to cancel the contract. $12,000 down the drain so far, with next to nothing to show for it. Avoid TravelsmartVIP at all costs!

Fraudulent Stay clear!!

Happy to walk away they changed the way you can get accommodation and they only give offers to USA and Canadians UK members dont get any deals. If l ever get to use this l would make it my mission to Sit outside the sales office and warn people from Using them showing the reviews They will do Best to allow me to leave! I am going to set up a website dedicated to exposing their fraudulent behaviour. There are so many bad reviews l will have endless content! I have sent emails x4 to asked for days in January its the 1st time using since 2019 but lm still waiting on a response poor very poor. They call from phones lines that charge the customer when you answer here in the UK so l ask for emails contact only what do they do call me!!!

Travel Smart Does Not Honor Contract

Am posting my experience for those who are considering to purchase their membership. I purchased the membership bck in 2019 for a term of 7 years. Initially we had our reservations and hesitations because Travel Smart said we cannot cancel and that they can unilaterally change the terms and conditions anytime. But the sales person ended up agreeing that we can cancel anytime and this was captured in our Verification Document which forms part of the contract. In 2021, we wanted to cancel the membership and has sent Travel Smart multiple emails, however they have been harassing us since. Claiming that we cannot cancel under our contract despite the fact that we have the right to cancel documented. Please be careful and think twice. One of the reason why we wanted to cancel was because Travel Smart changed the point system. We used to pay to buy points to be used towards redeeming a room in the future. And the food n beverage will be settled at the time of reservations. However they have gotten rid of the point system. We now only get discount on room rates with our membership.

We have tried to make a deal with TravelSmart for our annual membership dues that were due during COVID. They not only want to charge full price for the membership, but added late fees to the annual membership, even when we tried to come up with solutions that would have both of us benefitting. There have been many back and forth messages over the past 2 years, but I'll post the most recent exchange to reflect their approach to dealing with COVID travel restrictions for members living in Canada: Hello Luis, I have a proposal to help resolve our account. Given the travel restrictions that have been in place for the years of 2020, 2021, and now the spring season of 2022, a discount to our fees should apply. I understand you have costs that you were required to pay, but we were unable to take advantage of travel during those years, so both of us have lost. In order to continue using our membership rather than walking away, I propose we pay the annual fee in the contract ($292 USD) for those years, and you credit our account for the years of 2023 and 2024, amounting to a 40% discount over the 5 years, given the pandemic restrictions. Thanks and I hope to resolve our account soon so we may visit your resorts again. Sincerely, Jordan from Luis C. Velazquez Good afternoon. If you have not been contacted by our Concierge area yet, is because the answer is no. Number 9 of the terms and conditions establish that the Club Fees are mandatory and subject to increase over the years; so freezing the Club Fee amount to what it was in the past for all the membership's term will not be done. The pending amount now, is $1,571.85 USD and increasing; the only thing I can do as per the circumstances, is that such amount would include Club Fee 2023 also... but the membership will be terminated in December of 2023, in the meantime you will be able to reserve unlimited fashion until its term. This is how TravelSmart and Resorts Advantage will work you over during a pandemic if you sign a contract. I understand the legal responsibility that goes with signing a contract, but all of that is discretionary for a company wanting repeat business and families signing up for bigger and bigger packages. If there was some willingness to work with us, we would book more vacations with them because the resorts are beautiful. But we will choose other beautiful resorts instead because of their approach to the membership fee during a global pandemic.
