NOT a Quality Supermarket, Despite the High Prices

I'm very unhappy with Sprouts because: - Prices are WAY to high for what one gets - Advertised sale Gluten Free items weren't available, or not discounted. This is a Bait-and-Switch - Illegal. - Staff isn't visible, and when you grab someone, such as the Deli Attendant (i.e., black, young, female) who was already walking through the store, she told me she didn't know, &walked off. - I asked Nick (store Manager) what his company's cooperate office phone # is to complain, & he just searched Google. He told me he wouldn't provide me with the # he had. Very rude with blue finger nails - very unhappy & unprofessional looking. - BIGGEST COMPLAINT: Plastic and Paper Bags are normally included in the cost of shopping at the store. You have now put this burden (without lowering your already high prices) on the customer. Sprouts started Charging Customers $0.10/plastic Bag. You are doing this for the environment, yet you are STILL offering them? Even if they are stronger then normal, if the store truly cared about it, they would stop providing plastic. Also, paper bags are biodegradable. Why not offer them? It's because it's more expensive. Offer free Plastic or paper bags or I'm not returning. Unbelievable!

Meat Department, band saws

Hello, First let me give you a little background that may help you understand why I am writing today. I live in Fruita CO, about 19 miles from the Spouts market that I or my wife shop at weekly. I was shopping at my local Sprouts market two weeks ago Saturday, and as I have always done in the past, I requested two 14 oz Tuna steaks cut from frozen, so I could use them later in the week. If I purchase from the counter, they usually go bad before I can eat them. I had to purchase an enormous chunk of tuna that I then had to thaw and slice into three pieces. Most people know, you can't refreeze Tuna once it has been thawed. What a waste of food... I also ask for special cuts of beef or even pork that requires the workers behind the counter to cut them to my satisfaction. I was disappointed with this as well. So, I was informed that they cannot provide the excellent customer service I have come to expect any longer, as the Band Saws have been taken away. Also... Spouts no longer provides grocery bags any longer. Yes, I get the plastic thing, but the paper bags decompose with no issue. I use my grocery bags as trash bags. So, let's think about that for a minute. Now that I have no paper bags to use as trash bags, I now purchase thicker, less environmentally friendly plastic trash bags. Instead of using bags that can totally decompose in a landfill. Thanks to sprouts, I am now contributing to the plastic waste that is so damaging to our environment. So in essence, the lack of paper bags has had a devastating impact on both the environment and my carbon footprint. After submitting this to Pissed Consumer, I was contacted by customer relations and the short answer I received was less then palatable. The answer consisted of only two sentences that obviously came from a person not interested in providing solutions. So bottom line, Spouts does not care that their decision to no-longer carry paper bags has become an environmental catastrophe. In two months time, we used 2lbs of plastic trash bags instead of the biodegradable paper bags we have used for years. Also, the Customer relations person forwarded my complaint about removing their band-saws back to the meat department of my local store, who, can do nothing about the issue. Severe lack of forethought and just another case of a corporation telling us what they think we want to hear. Thank you, Bill Jackson

Chicken bone in sandwich

Purchased a deli croissant chicken salad sandwich and while eating it something poked the inside of my mouth and I found a good size chicken bone which had I swallowed it would have caused a serious injury, choking, and or worse. Attempted to call the store but got no answer. Finally emailed the Corp. office and a manager, Eric, from the local store called and left a message on my phone. Although he said he would talk to the deli depart and offered a token sandwich and bag of chips, his demeanor over the phone suggested that he belied the severity and potential outcome for myself and the store

Concerned for the treatment of their employees

I was visiting the location in Southern Ca Riverside location earlier this week; when i was stopped in my tracks from what i had originally thought was just typical conversation between employees and what i heard and saw was unsettling causing me to stop in my tracks in disbelief. The tone of the conversation seemed be that of several managers giving direction to one employee; which is normal, but what isnt normal is what followed. The employee receiving the orders of tasks, and critiques of their competence was visibly upset and seemed physically defeated by the managers approach. To paint the picture for you, that poor employee reminded me of one of those neglected and abused dogs in one of Susan Sarandons ASPCA. Commercials Terrible right?! Poor thing looked like she was just done with it all; like she was defeated, exhausted and starting to believe the not so positive words of encouragement from these 3 jokers!! I wanted to hug her so bad Im a stranger how do you know Covid I kept my distance the poor thing look like she was just getting beat up by them verbally all day. My heart broke and I even started to get watery eyed and choked up because no living being deserves to be treated like that and being a survivor of abuse myself, i can completely sympathized and empathized with her. I unloaded my grocery cart what typically would has been a grocery purchase over andI unloaded my grocery cart what typically would has been a grocery purchase of over $200, and sat in my car for over an hour contemplating on what to do and how to protect this employee and stop these evil, far less qualified, sorry excuse of management, poor representation of this corporate health food store chain dont ever treat an employee like this again . Like where is the love? Can someone please tell me what happened to common decency, human compassion, kindness in the world and the work place! If a Company that promotes a healthy lifestyle allows their managers of all levels to treat their other employees in a very abusive and unhealthy way, I believe they should have to change their mission statement as a company and what they value as important. Because what I witnessed that day was Im speakable they were coming up to this employee and what appeared to be shifts like taking turns on beating a pin yada and telling this employee she cant take a break she needs to work faster she needs to be better she has to get all of her tasks done meanwhile theyre not giving her any chance to finish a task and theyre not communicating with each other it look like you were setting this poor girl up to get fired it was completely unprofessional and then when I walked back in to see if I could catch this employee and talk to her to see if she was OK because I couldnt leave without making sure this girl did not need anything I overheard one of the same managers that were hounding this girl tell a different employee that she was already upset totally blame shifting, being passive about the severity of it and how wrong they were, not validating the employees feelings and not taking accountability for the poor behavior by these terrorizers creating a hostile work environment. I wasnt able to locate the employee and Ill give her my condolences and offer any type of help offered to take her to go get ice cream or something after her shift or if theres anything I can do to brighten her day because no one needs to feel that way. And as I was leaving the store for the last and final time for as long as I live I remembered I had witnessed other types of immoral and abusive behaviors from other store employees, and even though they have a yes policy that they pried themselves on I remember one time I had asked what was a store manager for help and he was completely rude and condescending. I chalked those incidents to them having a bad day or something; but now i realize they are just terrible humans and shouldnt be in their position of authority.

Freebies are a turn off

I love Sprouts but this new freebie promotion has left me feeling like a scorned woman. I was excited to learn about it and waited with anticipation for my first experience on July 1st. 9:00 am came and i got the text! I go to log on and the site is down! Later that week when doing my shopping I decide to ask the check out girl if she knew about others experiencing similar problems with the program and she she responded as if i had insulted her. Mind you, i was not upset just curious. I had no anger or hint of projection onto her. All she said was no and the rest of the transaction was just weird. She handed me my receipt and walked away without saying anything. So i just chalk it up to maybe she has heard a-lot of people complain and is annoyed with the subject. I get it. So moving on i get the text this morning. August 1, and I excitedly open my app and .every item i try to clip responds with oops something went wrong. This freebie situation has given me bad vibes. I think this program needs a revamp!

Poor and unprofessional customer service

I shouldve said something in hindsight. A few years ago I went into the local Sprouts here at Carmel Mountain in San Diego where I live. I went up to the meat counter and I was on the phone with my sister at the time; however, I put my phone down to give the person behind the counter my order. Apparently, he did not hear me because he began to grumble about how I should not be on the phone and how I was not paying attention. I apologized to him and repeated my order although he continued to grumble, under his breath, which irritated me so I confronted him about his attitude to which his response was that he did not hear me when I gave my order. I told him then that I even apologized and that I had put down my phone to give him my order. By this time I was upset. As he was putting together my order, I thought for a bit, then told him that I changed my mind and that I did not the products. I also told him that I didnt need to put up with the attitude. He fumbled for some excuse and suddenly became much more friendly (probably afraid I would complain about him and I should have) but I was fed up and just walked out. I thought this was an isolated incident and that maybe this was just one bad apple; however, since then Ive had two other incidents where I was completely ignored by a staff who looked me up and down and on another occasion another staff barked at me to move back while I was at the check out line. I have stopped going to Sprouts. While I am very much aware that not all your staff are not so close minded and unprofessional, just one such person can give you a bad name. Sprouts does leave a bad taste in my mouth. I am a person who normally do not like to complain but perhaps I should have done this the first time it happened. You need to either pay your staff better, train or hire more professional people who knows to treat people properly.

My very s1trong objections to stupid, childish. mind games led and delightfully played by one of your head cashiers. in your Sahuarita store.

During the last two of my shopping trips to your Sahuarita store, I was a target of some stupid, childish, mind games led and played most enthusiastically by Valerie, one of your head cashiers. She was able to garner the cooperation and support of those store employees who were present at the time when I was ready to check out. My grocery tally on that evening totalled just over $100. This amount is given just to indicate that throughout these more than ten years of customer loyalty to Sprouts, my shopping experience in any Sprouts' store in terms of dollar amount hadn't been exactly modest. And I had been pleased, shopping at any Sprouts store.Your Sahuarita store of late appears to have gone through a transformation, one that I find negative in atmosphere . I do not know this particular head cashier personally, and until two evenings ago, I did not know her name . I fail to understand the position that she took. - the mind game she was playing with me as her victim, a play in which she took great delight. A mind game about which she played most vociferously. Those two most recent experiences I had at this Sprouts store have left me feeling most disappointed about shopping at this particular Sprouts store. Shopping for groceries in any store should be one that is pleasant. Of late.. that was not possible at this Sahuarita store. In bringing my own experience in this store to light, it is with the intention that no other Sprouts customer will be a victim of such bad, distasteful behavior meted out by any Sprouts employee for no logical reason other than that such mind games serve to uplift her/his spirits.

Fraudulent product labeling, poor customer service

It's time to stop shopping at Sprouts. This store's (#17) quality has gone down and down consistently, both in service and quality of merchandise. I had an issue more than a year ago and reached out by leaving a post on their FB page. They responded in FB messenger giving me a ticket number, asking for my phone number, and promised that someone would be in touch shortly. That was on December 21, 2020, 14 months ago. As you can guess, nobody ever got in touch with me. What I have observed is that their meat quality is terrible: prime cut steaks are tough and chewy like an elephant's foot, definitely not the cuts that are labeled on the package. Mislabeling is a constant issue: all packages of chicken thighs, in one instance, had the label "skinless and boneless" and the price that goes with it. Not a single package on display was "skinless and boneless" and it took forever to get the price changed. I got only one package because I was in a hurry, they were out of real skinless and boneless cuts, and didn't have time to go to another store. When I baked two of them, they ended up being 1/2 the original size! Then recently, I purchased a pack of filet mignon. The size and shape of the cuts in the package looked exactly like they should. Since I wasn't going to use them immediately, I put the pack in the freezer. Well ... imagine my surprise when I defrosted it and found something that was not even remotely filet mignon - it was a bunch of leftover cuts put together and tied with a string. Now this is really fraud, intentional mislabeling, no two ways about it. When I removed the string that was keeping together these bits of whatever, each "piece" was full of connective tissue and fat. I can tell you that it all ended up in a very expensive stew, and even then the meat was chewy beyond acceptable. See attached photos - if that is filet mignon I am the queen of England. I don't think folks in store #17 care any more about quality, and do such things as selling leftover cuttings as "filet mignon." No wonder they don't allow posts on their FB page. I reached out on FB messenger from another Sprouts page, where I wrote in December 2020 and, you guessed it - no response. I messaged them only after trying to post but, even though there is a message icon and one can write a message, when clicking on send a message appeared informing that "the privacy settings on this page do not allow posting?" When I tried the next day, I could not attach photos ... Plain and simple, they do not care!

Glitch in Sprouts app and or self checkout registers

Hello customer service @***.com, I'm writing to bring attention to a very frustrating issue and one that is repeatedly happening. I have downloaded your Sprouts app and frequently use the digital coupons when shopping at your stores. It has happened far too many occurrences when using your self checkout register where instead of taking "off" the price of a coupon, the self checkout will instead "add" the price of the amount which should be discounted. I can tell when this happens because the amount which should be discounted should show up in ( ) parentheses, and instead it shows up as a double charge. Each time this occurs, and I seek help from the supervising employee working in the checkout area, they seem unable to fix the issue. A simple acknowledgment that there is something very wrong with either the system, self checkout kiosk, or app needs to be addressed as I mention this is a repeated occurrence which is NOT being addressed or resolved. The regular employees are not properly trained to resolve these system errors that occur internally on your self checkout registers and it becomes a very time consuming experience where they end up voiding my entire transaction multiple times as they are unequipped with the knowledge or ability to correct or remedy the problem. Each time this has happened, the employee ends up having to get a supervisor or manager ,who also tries to remedy the issue, but they are UNABLE to successfully fix the REAL issue, being that there is a VERY REAL "problematic error" that reoccurs in either your system, Sprouts app or self checkout kiosk is never fixed at the ROOT. This problem that reoccurs when I scan my Sprouts app and use digital coupons loaded onto my app. The practice of over charging customers, whether through an system such as a digital app, system processing self checkout kiosk, or manual checkout cashier is NOT only wrong but unethical. Once this MAJOR problem has been brought to higher level of management, the problem needs to be remedied. This problem of reoccurring "OVERCHARGING" either built erroneously programmed into my Sprouts app, or self checkout kiosk, leaves me frustrated, irritated, and wanting to avoid shopping at Sprouts altogether. I used to find shopping at Sprouts a pleasant experience. However, being repeatedly obviously OVERCHARGED time and time again without a concern of the management to FIX the underlying issue or convey this to higher level of authority to remedy this issue leaves me wondering if this PROBLEM is purposely being allowed to reoccur. It is WRONG practice to knowingly overcharge customers, and when this happens, at the very least, the employees at any level, should be able to get help from a higher authority and not remain "helpless" and make the customer feel it is their problem. These occurrences end up being extremely time consuming efforts as it seems none of the employees are equipped with training or ability to resolve these very CRITICAL ERRORS. I am resolving to document this for future reference. If this issue does NOT get resolved, I may need to bring it to higher authority as these practices of OVERCHARGING is UNETHICAL and ILLEGAL. It is something I absolutely will NOT tolerate or stand for. If this is happening to me, chances are this is also happening to other unassuming customers as well, since this is NOT an isolated occurrence, but one that is repeatedly occurring. I request that someone follow up with me on this critical issue which I am bringing to your attention. It is now within your jurisdiction to FIX and remedy this ERROR at its ROOT. I hope that you stand for ethical and right practices at Sprouts. How this critical issue/error is handled will determine future events forthcoming. It NEEDS to be addressed.

Discrimination! NO STARS

I was told I couldn't shop without wearing a mask, even though I cannot wear one due to a medical condition and the local proclamation says I should be exempt. They called the police and threatened to arrest me for trespassing if I didn't leave, even though I was practicing social distancing and have no symptoms. Their website says they follow local laws, but they currently are not.
