Horrible company who violates the law daily by operating without proper 3rd floor roof inspections, elevator problems and now I am suing them for Treble Damages plus for Criminal Harassment!

Christopher May a District Manager violated the law by illegally overlocking my unit and the local PD actually reminded them of this and probably told these idiots the Sheriff Dept could easily come down and crawl up your *** considering I NEVER OWED THESE *** MONEY! THEY'RE CRIMINALS in how they NOT ONLY HARASSED ME, BUT ALSO FAILED TO SECURE THEIR FACILITY, ESPECIALLY AFTER HOURS! THEY LITTERALLY ALLOWED SQUATTERS SLEEPING OVERNIGHT! (THE MANAGEMENT) THEN WHEN I CALLED CORPORATE IN CALIFORNIA, THEY WERE SUPER DUPER SLIMEBAGS, AND RUDE *** THAT WOULD HIDE FROM MY CALLS! ID NEVER USE THIS COMPANY! THEY SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN ESPECIALLY WITH THE 3RD FLOOR RIDICULOUS ROOF CONSTRUCTION THAT WAS APPARENTLY ILLEGALLY APPROVED BECAUSE THE DEAD LOAD EXCEEDS THE HORIZONTAL SUPPORT BEAMS THERE! LOOKS LIKE A KINDERGARTEN CLASS DID A FIELD TRIP AND LEARNED COMMERCIAL CARPENTRY FROM SOME CIRCUS CLOWN, INSTEAD OF AN ACTUAL ENGINEER! THIS FACILITY DUE TO THEIR SHEER ARROGANCE IS NOW BEING AUDITED BY THE NJ REGULATORY COMMISSION IN TRENTON NJ. STAY TUNED FOR UPDATES!

I have a unit in Garden Grove Ca. And the place is full of RATS.

I have a unit in Garden Grove Ca and it is full of RATS. The manager only cleans the floors in the office and bathroom. The rest of the place smells like *** Rat droppings all over the place. You say something and not one thing gets cleaned. DON'T RENT THERE.

Horrible management who allows squatters to sleep inside their storage facility on Eatontown NJ, then because this was reported a District Manager retaliated against me the consumer because of this in

A manager allowed some relative or friend to sleep overnights in unit 3274 in Eatontown NJ, and turned a blind eye to this for months, then retaliated against me for reporting this to the Corporate office in California Horrible management! Despicable

Not Competitive

Rented a 10x20 unit at the Kingwood,Texas facility in December 2021. Initial monthly rent was $154. In December 2022 the rent increased to $174 (13%). Six months later, I received notice of an even larger increase to $214 (23%). Thats 2 rent increases I less than a year! Considering the unit is neither climate controlled or lighted, Id be hard pressed to be convinced that their operations cost have increased 39% in a year and a half! I twice spoke with the facility manager. All she said shed do is pass my complaint on to the district manager. Never heard a word back. Customer service is terrible

Wrongfully kicked out

Manager has stated that we have stayed after hours and we asked for food and there is no proof we have never stayed after hours

Absurd rent increase. Non-response

Smartstop purchased my local self storage company and increased my rent from $105/mo to $175/mo. I have been I have been trying for weeks to reach someone with authority to adjust the past charges and correct future billings to no avail.

Locked out and paid up

I paid my late storage bill on Friday, Monday still locked out and nobody working there for two days and no one to call???

Completely frustrated

Closed out storage unit on October 8th,was told my credit card would be refunded,that didn't happen. 10 days later after countless phone calls,promises that the DM Wendy will call me back,9 days later after excuse after excuse,that didn't happen. I'm told my refund will come in a check. That will take another 21 days,,but where will they send it?? We have moved from the address in file,thus for the storage unit!! The owner in Wildwood refuses to take my calls,caller ID!!! I had no problem putting my 6 months of storage fees on my credit card up front,,twice,,now I'm getting the run around about my 600 dollar plus refund. This is no way to run a business,I need that money for other things,why does this company feel I can't wait so long for money owed to me. Why has no DM returned my calls in over a week to rectify this situation. Not a way to do business!!! I want my refund!!!

RUDE PROBLEM WITH PEOPLE IN THE OFFICE. TRYING TO RIP ME OFF

I HAD A PROBLEM WITH MY BANK AND IT IS BEING INVESTIGATED BY BANKING COMISSION. I WAS TOLD THAT THE MONEY HAD CLEARED BUT IT DID NOT. I SPENT THE MONEY ON GAS AND FOOD BECAUSE I AM HOMELESS SINCE MARCH 1 2022. THEY DID NOT CONTACT ME FOR WEEKS ABOUT THE PROBLEM. NOW THEY ARE CHARGING ME FEES AND IT IS A NIGHTMARE. I MIGHT LOSE ALL MY BELONGINGS WITCH STINKS. I WISH I NEVER WENT TO THAT LOCAQTION EVER. WHEN I FIRST WENT THERE IT WAS NOT SMART STOP AND THEY ARE FOREVER RAISING RATES. THEY HAVE CAMPERS AND MOTOR HOMES AND SUCH LIVING ON THE PROPERTY. I WAS THERE A FEW DAYS AGO WHEN A BIG MOTOR HOME WENT IN AND THEN PEOPLE ALSO CAME OUT RIDING BICYCLES. WHAT IS GOING ON HERE. OFFICE STAFF IS RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL. GM IS RUDE AND I DONT GET IT. WHEN TALKING TO HIM WHEN HE THINKS HE HAD ENOUGH HE CUTS YOU OFF AND TALKS OVER YOU. WHAT A COMPANY. NOT GOOD.N

Rip off don't use trust me

So I am moving my crap out of the unit on the 8th and 9th of February, I have rented here almost 4 years. And they want 189 for mine days to be able to get my stuff. When you damn well know you're going to rent it again I expect some kind of fee but a full month seriously WTH

Price increase

My monthly fee went up from $185 to $197. Thats a pretty hefty increase. The facility is not that clean and I have not been able to contact Corporate. I am disappointed. I have been a customer for several years.

Complaint

This company charged me twice for the same month. I provided proof, and they refused to refund me the money, and they blamed it on the previous owner, and said there is nothing they can do about it. That is fraud and extortion. Then when the lock was broken to the climate controlled building where my unit was, they never fixed it...still broken after several months since we noticed and reported it to them. Then we just noticed the climate control is not working. It is hotter inside the unit than outside the building, in Florida, in mid-September. I will be terminating my lease this week, and I look into filing against them in Small Claims Court.

They are uncaring

I do not recommend this company, if you ever fall on hard times they will add an astronomical fee to your account I went in on the 32 day to pay my previous and current month and they added a lien fee of $125 for a $94 dollar a month unit bringing my bill for 2 months to $327.10
