Belts

Bought a v-ride 3 yrs ago. Deck belt broke only 2 weeks after purchase. Scag dealer made it góod and has been fine since. Bought a sfc30 2 weeks ago,,has less than an hour of use and the belt is already slipping. Like everything else these days , Scags quality control has obviously gone to ***

Don’t buy this mower

Per cost, this mower is by far the biggest disappointment mower I have ever owned. It Boggs down with even the slightest resistance from residual dew in your grass (Im talking about an 80 degree day mowing at noon), even when you are just cutting 1 off the grass. The weight makes you feel like youre wrestling a sumo wrestler around contoured turns. I have no idea why Scag underpowered the engine. Im extremely unsatisfied. Scag customer service had nothing helpful to say.

Product questions

Let me start this out by stating that I have no issues with skag. I'm very satisfied with my mower and it does exactly what I expect of it. I had a question about the blade bearing. It was answered and explain to me. As it turns out the problem was that the blades were too old. After changing the blades the more cuts my lawn exactly as I expected to.

Exhausted from always repairing Scag Cheetah

I had a Turf Tiger for 15 years and it was awesome. So I bought a Cheetah in 2016 and it's been a huge of trash from day 1. The belts fall off every hour. The Kawasaki motor needed a carb rebuilt after 100 hours and then only ran well for 30 more hours. I'm at 220 hours and think this shitbox is end of life. Don't buy Scag!

Problem w scag patriot 52 zero turn

Bought a new scag patriot full retail price, problem early on in warranty with intermittent starting issues. dealer in knightdale NC Knightdale tractor & supply said it was the PTO switch and scag had a recall and upgrade. put it on and kept having issues, warranty expires and called several times. Finally took it in and they said scag has issues with starter and it needed to be shimmed with a spacer to hit the fly wheel right. They charged me a $100 for there issue to shim a spacer but yet before blamed it on PTO switch. I call bs on this and shouldn't have had to pay for this. I doubt this will even fix the problem long term. The main guy up front was rude and didn't even speak, He goes out and grabs the tech I was talking to at the end, says he got to come inside and shuts office door on me. Terrible service and full of crap about fixing, a spacer to get fly wheel to hit to properly start? on an 8,000 mower with under 200 hours? Ive called scag, they said never heard of spacer needed to fix starting. Gave me number for local region that over sees this dealer, left messages, no calls back. Still trying to get resolution

V-ride2

My mower has been in the shop 5 separate times 3 for the same issue. Mower drives like a Cadillac when it works. Everyone loves to bag on the staris but mine has 4x the hours of my vride 2 and has given me none of the issues. Was going to buy a scab debris loader for this fall but with my current luck on scag customer service I think Im gonna test the waters with a billy goat

Terrible product service and customer service

Purchased a Turf Tiger 2 in late July 22. Had the machine in my possession for 1 week at which time it broken down in the middle of mowing the first field it was cutting. Apparently the stator blew after only 4 hours of use. Great product quality. I called the dealership that I purchased it from and they assisted me with getting it out of the field and and advised me to take it to the local dealer. (This dealership was extremely helpful). I brought it to the local dealership for what I thought would be a quick fix. 2 1/2 weeks later, still don't have it back with no end in sight. I called the dealership after 1 week and was told it hasn't been looked at yet, called after 2 weeks and told the same. I called the Scag headquarters who passed me to the local distributor. Who checked into it and told me that it was looked at and parts were ordered. So, someone is either clueless or lying. So now, I have to pay someone else to come cut my fields after paying 16k for a piece of equipment to sit at a dealership. Never again will I purchase a Scag.

Get your own oil well and trailer - before you buy a SKAG My Skag goes through a quart an hour when it’s not going back and forth for service

Finally the dealer confessed. Yeah those are lousy motors on the SKAG. They burn a lot of oil Good to know. but too late

Complaimt

I bought a scag patriot mower almost 5 years ago. I ONLY USE IT ON MY LAWN.It only has a little over 200 hrs on it and one of the hydraulic pumps has gone out.A 1500 fix at the dealer I bought this POS from Very disgusted with this mower.I have always used cheap tractor style mowers in the past and have gotten great service from them Figured I would buy a commercial Scag mower and it would last a long long time.Wish I had bought another tractor style cheap mower.Very upsetting.

Angry with my Almost 14k zero turn.

Well 3 years ago I started a side lawn business didnt have no mower, trailer nothing all while working full time 6 to 7 days a week. Well went with a bad boy and it wouldnt hold hills, but made do and had 400 hours on it when I got rid of it a month ago. So decided to go commercial and go scagg, well got little over 22 hours on it and the right wheel pumps out! Also why they didnt go with a at least 32hp on a 61 inch is beyond me. Im far from happy with this 14k paper weight. Drove 8 hrs round trip month ago to get it sooner now have to turn right around and drive 3 hrs round trip to take it to the closest dealer, that I purchased it through. But they didnt have my mower in stock and some sold my old one is reason I drove to Kansas City to pick it up sooner. Shouldve went with kubota or Ferris so lesson learned once again. Sad my last job we had a 48 inch scagg that will cut circles around this 61 inch and thats what sold me on the scagg after trying the bad boy! The deck belt slaps the tension spring in my deck and makes tons of noise also, for the money it cost and no hitch or lights, and the stripping kit is way over priced to buy extra. Also its ignorant how you all made a cup holder but have a big gap in the side of the cup holder! Dealer may keep this thing for good when I drop it off!

Warranty

Called about my starter that went out litterally days after warranty expired and was told they don't warranty the motor or its parts. I get to an extent. But the mower was in service for the starter isssue before warranty ran out and had been calling to find a dealer that could service it before then, still wound up with a $400 bill. Scag can do better. This mower has been in the shop 6-8 times for different issues since new. Bad battery, fuse holder melted leaking oil and the starter to name a few. I bought scag because of all the good ive heard about them but have expierenced mostly bad since having it... I won't buy another.

New Tiger Cat 2 issues

I purchased a new Tiger Car 2 52 inch and it has 5 hours with a bad vibration. Dealer says its the flywheel causing the vibration. I am concerned about changing the flywheel on a new expensive mower. I thought long and hard about buy a scag verses other brands thinking I purchase the best mower available. It has 5 hours and is currently waiting on parts. Is it possible to get another mower due to this issue with noise and vibration. I am a service engineer so I do understand something there are issues related to new equipment. Just concerned about my new purchase. The dealership is great but still have questions on a new replacement. Thank you Mike Slaton 336.269.6076

Mowers are junk.

I bought 3 scags in 2018 a vride and 2 cheetah 61 inch. One cheetah the hydro broke at 530 hrs wouldnt cover cause I was over hrs other cheetah trans brakes 508 hours again no help over 500 hrs. So wheres the loyalty ? Thats 1800 for a new hydro and 3k for anew pump on 2 mowers not even 4 years old. But other brands lasts over 1500 hrs ? Come on scag your stuff is junk if it wasnt youd back it up. Why do I want to represent it anymore if Im gonna keep putting money into it ?
