Cybersecurity issues, failure to safeguard donors personal information.
'Beware of this company for Cybersecurity issues! They apparently do not take steps to keep donor information secure, and I canceled my donor account with them less than a month from when I first set up the account because my personal information appears to have been compromised. I signed up in November 2021 to sponsor a child with a monthly donation. Within two weeks I received my welcome packet with confirmation of my sponsorship. After receiving my packet, I began to receive a series of phishing emails with fake sender addresses consisting of a string of approx. 15-20 random alphabetic and numeric characters and a corruption of the name Save the Children, two stating I had not competed my sponsorship application and to complete it by clicking on a link. Two other emails had the name of the child I sponsored and the country she lived in, with links in the email to "learn more" about that country, and to make a donation. The only way the illegitimate sender would have such specific information about the child's name and country was if Save the Children's donor database had been breached. I knew not to click the links, but ACCIDENTALLY clicked on one, which brought up a very questionable message, and my email account immediately had an alert that suspicious activity was detected! I had to spend the entire weekend changing passwords, contacting accounts, and securing my computer, etc. When I first started getting these emails I contacted Save the Children, and the representative was skeptical that they were fraudulent and gave the impression that she could have cared less. After my email account was compromised, I called Save the Children for a THIRD time to report phishing emails, and the representative STILL questioned whether the emails could be legitimate. I was only able to speak to a supervisor by becoming demanding with the representative. The supervisor also seemed unconcerned and skeptical about the phishing emails and a possible database breach, until I told her I wanted to cancel my donor sponsorship immediately. I have canceled my account with Save the Children, and have done some research that confirms their lack of IT security, which you can Google for yourself. In 2017 or 2018 Save the Children itself was the victim of a phishing attack that cost them over $1 million, and in 2020 their database was breached, along with multiple other charitable organizations world-wide, by "an attack on cloud computing provider Blackbaud." Even after these serious security issues, they STILL do not appear to be safeguarding donors' personal information. Save the Children appears to be a legitimate charity that does good humanitarian work, but seems to have little concern for protecting your privacy -- STAY AWAY!

Are they for real?
I started donating $35/month several years ago. It was supposed to be for 2 years. Now I got a letter saying that because of the effect of COVID-a9, my contribution will be increased $5 a month unless I call or send back the return ticket saying I cannot provide the extra $5. I have to do this before a certain date if not, my contribution will automatically increase. Is it even legal? By the way, after 15 min on the phone twice, I can't reach anybody.

Don't give to this charity!- its a Scam!
I have given to this so called charity for a while now! And i was happy to give to help needy children monthly!- off and on until today! Now thats over!- since they tried to steal money out of my debit card account without my permission! Behind my back!! Thats being a low down theif! And a scam! Who are more interested in taking your money than helping children! Its a shame! On their part! And when i calked them about it!- he didnt even have the decency to apologize for it!- so i cancelled my account with them for good! I dont work with theives!- or scam artists! And some of these charites are nothing but scams!- and that includes save the children too! After what they tried to pull on me! Im convinced of that! Its the truth that they are no better than the others who scam u out of your money! They tried to rip me off! But im glad it didnt work!- ill never work with them again! Beware! Stay away from Save the children!

Scam using Save the Children
I recieved an email froma "Leo Smith" saying he was a diresctor of the "savethechildren Foundation" today. Summarizing, he said he was in England and needed someone to "process" Canadian and US money order contributions and that I was to keep 10% of the total myself. 1.) The letter was poorly constructed, not professional at all. 2.) The email used 'savethechildren90' address and had a link to the real Save the Children website w/o the '90' at the end. 3.) This is likely an attempt to obtain checking account numbers. 4.) FYI -- My address was acquired on one of the job search sites. Please ignore this scam and let your Internet Provider know that this is a scam. The real "Save the Children" is a wonderful organization with an outstanding record of using contributions to aid children worldwide.
