Overcharged by vendor at time of pickup

Original quote was very good, but too good to be true. When I called with complete list, price increased by $1400! On day of pickup, after all my belongings were on the truck they wanted more than quoted amount. My things ran over my intended area because of the way they loaded our golf cart. They are now throwing their contracted trucking company under the bus. My contract was with Safe Ship and thats who I expect to assist me. They tell me my dispute is not with them but with their trucking company. From the day of pickup theyve ignored the multiple times I tried to tell them our golf cart was not placed correctly to stay in the area we had paid for.

They lied to me then used that lie to hose me good.

Do NOT use this company to move your stuff. I was lied to once again mind you, seeing this is the second moving company that has done this exact same deed unto me, by this time from SafeShip one Tom Keese of Florida. I was told how they would handle everything for a certain price and not outsource and what does he do??? He outsources and not only outsources, but does so with Grand American Movers which was a horror movie type joke. First this company Russian owned sent two Russian guys who barely spoke English to move out my stuff from MN to MT. It's a pleasure doing business with people you can only understand verbally so intermittently. Thanks SafeShip. This was mid Nov 2022 mind you. Then comes February of this year when I finally get to move into my house and it got even worse. I had a 63 year old lady there while I was still at work and they sent one Russian guy who refused to drop off till I paid, then once I did, he (solo mind you???) ended up leaving an electric motorized box spring out in the snow because yeah it is heavy which is why I dnd't do it alone. Now the damn thing doesn't work anymore and I have had this since 2009 and it's one of those massaging/adjustable head and feet memory foam beds, so yeah worst possible people they could have possibly outsourced to, Grand "Russian" Movers is more accurate seeing the 63 year old lady at my house at the time said he too was Russian. The two who packed my stuff up were loud and obnoxious only speaking in Russian to each other. This is now tied for the worst moving experience I have ever had. I contacted the solo mover and asked to speak with his supervisor and I was properly ignored. I then used the email given by the movers upon pickup and I was likewise ignored and not responded to again. Quality service indeed by SafeShip no? Just like what this move is tied with, I was shorted product as I am missing quite a few bins of shoes I bought on Ebay. So yes, this is the kind of service you will ACTUALLY get from SafeShip. Outsourced to the cheapest people they can find under whatever rock they found them so that they can maximize the supposed deal you are getting to go through them; NEVER AGAIN. STEER CLEAR OF SAFESHIP MOVERS.

Traumatic experience

The only reason Im giving a star is because we actually got our stuff within a week and the college students they called up the morning of were really nice guys. Reasons why it was bad - when the movers (Petra Pro Movers) arrived at our place to load, the estimated price they gave us was double what the initial estimate was. Whatever estimation tools were used to determine how much space would be taken up were way off. - when I called safeship to work this out, they said they would be in touch me about adjusting the estimate on the receiving end if we didnt take up the whole truck (and we didnt, I sent a picture). She never called back despite me calling her and safeship multiple times over 2 weeks - when i called safeship about projected date, they said they had no idea and could help no further. So i had to call the movers company myself and basically bypass safeship. That worked - I got someone with Petra Movers who was able to make some calls. - on delivery, the foreman was very rough with our belongings. There was also a bag of clothes that didnt belong to us (how did that happen) and he threw it on the ground multiple times - three pieces of furniture were broken. For one, the foreman jammed a piece back in, said he would come back with wood glue to fix it, never came back. Fortunately, they did reassemble our stuff (though I had to ask them repeatedly), and the other movers were very nice and professional. Would not use again or recommend

They won't leave me alone

I contacted this company, as well as several others, for a moving quote. After getting all the quotes, I chose a different company. I have informed SafeShip of this several times. But THEY WILL NOT LEAVE ME ALONE! I hear from them every day, often several times a day. They call, email, and text. They change the addresses and phone numbers, so I can't block them. Frankly they are scaring me.

Bad service, cheats and theives

This company stole all of our belongings on our move from Kansas to Texas. They took all of our memories and never delivered goods just lies. It would have meant so much to have our belongings but in order to get them they wanted $20,000 in order to get them back. We are a retired couple and had a lifetime of memories stolen. We had to start over with everything. They never contacted us about delivery just threats. I would love to have my memories back.

SCAM ALERT

SCAM ALERT. Things I wish were fully explained beforehand: - The company ONLY hires third party movers and initially arranges the pick-up date/details. The agent you speak to about moving is getting paid COMMISSION for your business. They will give you any quote so you will agree to sign a contract. Moving fee loosely based on a few questions about items to guess the truck space needed (computer program that generates the quote.) - ANYTHING needed after this is not and will not be provided by them. You now must handle the rest of the move with the third-party movers if you can contact them. If you need status on your items, this company does not provide it. You will have to attempt to contact the third-party movers. - UPCHARGE IF your items exceed the quoted amount of space your items will use AND/OR if the movers cannot or will not arrange the items in an efficient way within the quoted space. (I could see more square footage available in the truck that I paid for, but the movers couldnt figure out how to arrange items to fill the space and had to use more space and charge me more. Im sure that was convenient for them. I cannot handle the items myself or I would have tried to rearrange. There was nothing I could do except let them over charge me and drive off I must move today.) - The estimated delivery date of your items is not known. They will give you a date, but the movers legally have 30 days to deliver your items and they will use the entire month with no apparent reasoning. My items were scheduled to arrive within 3-10 days max and was delivered over three weeks later. - Once delivered you must look through it all to sign off that all items were delivered even though movers had an inventory list they could have used. Once they leave that day, they will do nothing to accommodate any missing or damaged items. They will say they are licensed and insured this means nothing. Moving brokers are a SCAM and I will absolutely be utilizing another moving company next time. I see there is an excuse provided for every complaint posted, but there is no excuse for the experience I had to endure with this company especially with an out-of-state move that is already stressful. I was in a personal crisis for my safety and needed to move right away otherwise I would have spent more time researching. Save yourself money, time, and frustration! Hire local help, get a U-Haul, do it yourself, this company is not and should not be an option! Good luck fellow movers.

Serious issues/problems with my move

Updated by user Apr 11, 2023
A rep contacted me but we still have not resolved the problem. I still have not received my furniture and today it was 3 weeks since my furniture was picked up.

Still no delivery date. I have requested to speak to a supervisor and supposedly “a ticket” will be...

First I want to let you know that Giovanni was a typical salesman- lying, smooth talking, sending emails and texts just to get the job. Then when I contact him to complain about the issues I was having, he transferred me to customer service with no explanation. I find out that safe ship subcontracts the work and want to be paid with Zelle so I couldnt use my credit card (which I was told I could do for the entire bill). I advised him of the location where my stuff had to be delivered and it is up to them to see if a truck can get there. Now I find out that my stuff might have to be shuttled thereby me incurring more charges! It has been over 10 days since my stuff was picked up (also notified 1 day before pickup) causing me to scramble to get everything packed. Im being brushed off by customer service and all I hear is its in the contract) - fine print. This moving company is a total ripoff and need these concerns addressed before they decide to load my stuff on a semi.

Relocating was stress-free

Relocating with safe ship is stress-free and enjoyable, in every way. There were no problems because the delivery guy kept in touch with me during my move. They will always be my first choice, not only because they can do it, but also because they do it effectively. Thank you

Great service

Safe Ship provided me with an incredible moving experience, and they are the movers that everyone should hire. Top Rated Van Lines amazing impressed my mother. She appreciated the fact that her cabinets were packaged in boxes before being carried into the truck properly. Everything arrived safely and on time, and I can assure you that my mother hasn't been happier in a long time.

Moving is a pain but I'm pleased I chose them

Moving is a pain but I'm pleased I chose Safe Ship moving to help me out. They were able to work around my schedule and move me early in the morning. The moves who relocated me were really kind and and unloaded and assembled my stuff in less than 5 hours. My sales rep, who arranged the move, was very courteous and called to confirm, then followed up with me before the movers arrived. I couldn't have asked for better service.

Amazing to say the least

When I comment that this crew was amazing (mcmovers) would be saying less than I could. Upon arrival, I honestly thought there were too few members. They were experts, someone that was at their level would have been just in their way. They had a plan in place. Efficient, professional, and polite. Referring them to anyone I know.

A breeze to collaborate with

These guys are a breeze to collaborate with. They contacted me ahead of time to make sure I was ready and well prepared. They arrived on time and began packing everything. They did an excellent job of packing. Extra sheets were used for fragile goods. They worked with considerable vigor. Because the elevator was damaged, they had to make the entire move via the stairs. It was challenging, but they strived through it and succeeded.

My grandma says thanks

This company was super helpful with getting my grandmother moved from South Carolina to her retirement home in Boca Raton, Florida. They were very gentle with her belongings and overall just kind people. They created a stress-free environment while loading and unloading her property. I am super grateful for everything that they did for her and would definitely use them in the future.

SCAM SCAM SCAM SCAM SCAM

Safe Ship did a phone estimate of my inventory. Movers (not actual safe ship workers, but a company contracted by safe shop to do the job) showed up on moving day and tried to tell me that my cubic footage was double then what was given over the phone. I expected a small change as I am aware that uneven items and things like moving blankets take up space. But not double. Additionally, I removed 2 large items from the move that were on the initial estimate. The mover tried to say my stuff was 1300 cubic feet. And the original estimate was 600. I ended up telling the movers to leave and I went with another company. Actual cubic footage with the new company was 700 cubic feet. So safe ship essentially price matched to win the business, took a "non refundable" deposit from me, and then contracted a company who tried to double the square footage to make their money back. Research that I should have done before hand, shows that complaints against them for deceptive business practice and estimates/ final costs have DOUBLED every year https://ai.fmcsa.dot.gov/hhg/SearchDetails.asp?ads=&id=3029****&id2=3213****&f=CNS%3D1%26CN%3D%26search%3D1%26DOT%3D347****%26MC%3D%26Subm3DSearchrch

No more cold weather

I'm sick of the cold so I'm leaving the North for good. I've been living in Billings my entire life and it's time for a scenery change. I really am sick of it because I contracted the flu again. I wanted to move this week but I'm going put off my move for a few weeks until I recover. Yesterday was the fourth day in a row where I just slept all day and barely had the energy to get out of bed. Since I have been bed ridden all week, I came to the easy conclusion that it will be practically impossible for me to do any moving alone. I told my neighbor that I really dont know what to do because I dont have the energy to lift my belongings. My neighbor told me that I can contact a shipping broker. I was confused at first, but he explained to me that the broker will find a moving company in my state, and they will transport the contents of my house to any state in the country and that if I pay extra they can even have the movers pack and wrap all of my stuff. I called the number on their website and spoke to one of their reps. The rep explained to me all they have to offer and that the company even offers free 30 day storage. After I finished the booking process with Safe Ship, I booked my flight to Arizona. I haven't found a place to rent yet. I am feeling better so I decided to treat myself until I find a place to live so i rented a hotel room in downtown Tucson that I will be staying in until I found a home. I had the moving company {dont remember their name} place my belongings in a storage facility. I inspected all of my furniture and precious items. One dresser was chipped, but that was the only damage any of my 8 furniture items incurred. Considering how I moved 700 miles away, I still say they did an amazing job moving my stuff. kudos to them
