The owner price gorged, is racist and misogynistic towards women.

They were supposed to assess a blocked drain . No work was done, only a plumber driving to the site and a bill was generated for $ 580.00. This is price gorging and on top of this, the owner is a bully male and does not know how to address an intelligent female. It is horrible that a large company such as this harbors these kind of subcontractors/employees.

They scammed me out of $10,000

They sent an inexperienced technician to snake my clogged septic system. They ultimately replaced a pipe in the basement. A few days later, sewage was coming out of the ground onto my backyard. Another inexperienced technician came out and snaked the pipe again. The issue only worsened, but they said that was the last time they could come out. When I called a local, reputable plumbing company, they told me the clog was under the road and I had to pay them to unclog it, which they did. Roto Rotor did not unclog the pipe, but charged me $10,000!

Came to Fix One Problem and Created a Second One

The company sent someone to replace an upstairs faucet. While he was at my house, I cleaned the kitchen (running water and wiping down counters). When he left, my kitchen faucet water pressure was low. I called him back a few days later to address the issue. He refused to consider that something he did may have created the problem. He told me how to fix the problem: "I can't do the work for free, and I'm sure you don't want to pay me." This is my third and final time experiencing terrible customer service, dealing with poorly-trained plumbers, and observing greedy operating practices. They would rather lose a customer rather than genuinely try to help someone.

Deceiving

Original review Apr 02, 2023
We called them because our water bill trippled and we were not sure why. He showed up, charged us $140 for the visit. He told us we dont have a water pressure regulator but needed one desperately. He said this costs thousands of dollars but he'd give us a deal, only $1300. My husband found the regulator this morning. He replaced it for $40 and he still don't know why our water bill is so high. I feel scammed.

Outrageous price, no receipt

I was promised an itemized receipt (i.e. parts and labor charges). Only a final price is noted. I have no idea how much was for parts and for labor. And the price was WAY too high! With my "senior discount" (listed nowhere on "receipt"), I was charged $4800 for 3 feet of pipe replaced and for cutting and replacing/refilling a 3 foot by 2 foot hole in patio cement! About 6 hours max. of labor...I feel scammed.

Reckless driver on Highway 17

There was a driver on Highway 17. He drove so close to my car. He almost hit me trying to pass the car in the left lane and finally he had to get into the left lane. I dont believe reckless driver should be able to work for companies because one day you guys are gonna be responsible for a death I hope this person has found and reprimanded more than a slap on the hand not OK.

Owner doesn't care about clients

Original review Jan 10, 2023
I have used Roto Rooter for years to clean out my tree roots in my sewer line. Two weeks ago a service tech backed into my tree canopy and when he realized it, he pulled forward, breaking off my tree at the base. I have spent 2 weeks trying to get an answer from someone about taking care of the tree that they left there and replacing it. I have gotten the run around from everyone until today. Furthermore, I was told that the owner didn't want to deal with me and to refund the money for my sewer fixing, and good luck to me on finding another company that will help me when I need it done again. This was passed onto me by a woman at the office, who tried to look for a tree for me, but at this point I was already upset and said I wanted the refund. She was nice in the beginning, however she was not today and frankly neither was I. I also spoke to a different in the office when it first happened and she was never nice to me about it. The service guys tried to cover up their mistake and didn't even tell me right away. Never have I ever felt like a piece of trash instead of a client from a major corporation

Can't get the job done!!

Personnel are professional but the equipment they have to work with is very outdated. If you don't have the right tools you can't do the job well. And their tools are a bunch of junk...

Roto Rooter leaving our family without plumbing and taking 2000.00 down

We contacted roto rooter on 12/22/2022 thinking we had a blocked main drain. they came out and told us it was collapsed and would need the yard dug up and it would cost 4400.00. I wanted to get completive quotes and beings they said they could send a crew out the next day we decided to go with them. I called two other company's and cancelled trusting that ROTO ROOTER would stand by their name and business. We paid them 2000.00 down and they said they would be here the next day at 8:00am. So they called us the next day and advised that it was too cold, the trucks would not start and I spoke to the manager and he said that the backhoes would not start. If this was a legitimate well ran business they would have been prepared yesterday. So they told me they would just refund my money and " we were being unreasonable" complaining that we wanted the service that they promised and that he would just refund my money knowing we have a family in need of plumbing. Rotor Rooter is a poor company to do business with and very dishonest. Will be reporting to better business bureau for them taking a 2000.00 down payment. they also left our toilet uninstalled because we thought they would be back. What a bunch of pathetic losers. Promised a lifetime warranty that they will not honor.

In 2008 Roto-Rooter relined our sewer from the house to the street with their new type of lining that was guaranteed for 50 years. We were told that we would never have to shake the sewer line again. In two years, the line had to be snaked because of tree roots growing at the openings. We were then told by the representative who came to our house that the company did not know at the time of installation that the lining material would shrink, letting roots grow in the sewer line. We were told by Roto-Rooter's representative that they would come to our house every two years and snake the line for free. They have honored their promise every two years until this year. The supervisor told us today that there was only a five-year guarantee, and they were only doing it before to be nice. He stated that they have already spent too much money doing this, and they would no longer honor the guarantee. They feel since the people we spoke with are no longer working for the company, the past guarantee does not need to be honored by them. We were not aware that the change of personnel at a company voided its promises and warranties. Obviously, Roto-Rooter is not a company to do business with. Having looked on the internet, I now see how poorly they are rated as a company on all levels. Beware of doing business with Roto-Rooter in Columbus, Ohio!!!

The plumber that came out lied and said it was my fault

They came out to a place I rent, unclogged the toilet, left me with a mess, went back and told the property management that it was my fault, and so I'm now being charged! If theres anything I hate, its liars! /

Price gouging

price to have my kitchen sink drain cleaned was over 400.00 dollars. I was given a 75. dollar cupon that brought it down to 340.00. This is highway robery to run a drain snake 45 feet to clean out a drain

OVERCHARGING FOR SERVICES

On July 7th -- I called Roto Rooter to move a spigot from my back deck to the side of my house (same side and only had to move the spigot about 14 feet). They wanted to charge me $2100 to take care of this. I am so happy that I am big on research and big on getting other estimates. This was highway robbery. I had another plumber to do the same job for $200 and everything worked out well. I will not use their services ever again.
