Threats of blackmail

DO NOT USE. Fred had a meltdown after I said I was price-shopping and refused to give my credit card to a man I'd known for 10 mins. He told me he couldn't work together because of my character. I wrote a 100% honest review for his Monroe location and he responded with a threatening series of misspelled emails saying he was going to email every HR person in the state and tell his lawyer if I didnt take down my review. I had to call the police to get him to stop. His Google reviews (except for mine) are perfect but his reviews on Yelp and BBB are a disaster, saying very similar experiences to mine. Anyone can buy good Google reviews. If anyone wants to see Freds emails to me, Id be happy to share. Besides the Monroe police, I have reported him to the BBB, CT Attorney general, and FTC. This person is unstable.

Loss of my job - needing a new resume

i recently lost my job. in my search for a resume writer i contacted fred at resumes, etc. i sent him my old resume. we discussed what i was looking for and how to proceed in building my skills up to present to any future employers. instead of updating my out of date resume he started fresh with a new and different approach. he listened to me but used his judgement to perfect what i have to offer. when he finished it and i viewed it i was very impressed. it was completely thought out and very well worded. i liked the verbiage that he used. he really highlighted my skills, knowledge and responsibilities using keywords that employers are seeking in today's market. he coached me on interviewing skills and how to best market myself. his knowledge and expertise in writing my resume is top notch. he took the time and went above and beyond in listening to me and then delivering an outstanding resume. he is good for his word(s)!! his concern for me in landing a job was heartfelt and genuine. he really did work wonders in my case. he is a perfectionist. i have a new confidence and feel "marketable" now. i am so happy with the outcome and so glad that i chose fred to build this new resume. he is simply the best and a real resume writing professional. it was great working with him. to sum up his choice of wording on my resume with one word it would be "awesome". if you are seeking a great resume, go to the pro, resumes etc in hamptead.

The negative reviews are all real!!!

I only wish I had seen the reviews before I used them. Upfront I explained my concerns, what I wanted and did not want, and we seem to be on the same page. Once you say yes, and the payment transaction clears, the attitude completely changes. That was what first concerned me. In my opinion he is one of the rudest and most unprofessional people I've met in some time. He even used religion assuming I was Catholic. I asked to talk over the phone or meet to ensure that he was listening, but he never responded to my request...just one line emails. What he produced was not at all what he promised to deliver. It felt like he had not taken notes from our first conversation, nor read what I provided. The resume read like a laundry list, which is what any free online review will tel you not to do. He makes little changes, mostly fixing what he should have captured in your initial conversation (followed by your written instruction) and tried to pass it off as a "revision". His work is outdated and cookie cutter. He will promise 5 reviews, and assure you that he will not abandon the process, but he does. His format and style is antiquated, and I will never get a job using what he produced. We never even reviewed the cover letter and he send me a 2nd draft correcting his mistake. I had a major university review his work to include a hiring manager, and instead of taking my critique to work together and fix the problem, he became nasty and told me to do it myself or have the university do it. I thought this could at least help him improve, but this was not the case. So what I got was a very terrible first draft, generic cover letter, and about $400 gone! The resume draft was not at all what he said he would do initially. To top it off, I gave him a long version of my resume. What I got was a condense version with many mistakes and no substance. The cover letters were basically the same, and I only received 2 out of 4. After he said he would fix it as I wanted, he refused when I gave my revision. I really tried to be very nice to him, and hope for the best. His response confirmed the negative reviews I've read here. My recommendation is always ask for a sample. In the highly technical world we live in a resume should show computer language skills, yet this was not included in mine even though we specifically discussed it. Resumes and cover letters should provide select contributions that are applicable to the job posting. The cover letter is an opportunity to address key points on the job announcement, show them your personality and how you can deliver value without rehashing your resume. The days of writing a cookie cutter resume, one-fits-all, are over. The important thing is to have a good base to work with and make modifications as needed. Before you go to a resume writer, look for online guides provided by credible universities, or just stop in. Your university career center will review your resume up to 5 years past graduation. I only learned this after the fact! After seeing the terrible rough draft I wrote the resume myself and my school thought it was the best. Now it is better than ever. I am not saying a resume writer is not the way to go, but they don't know you. If the person you hire sends you a draft without asking tons of questions to make sure your resume has quantifiable and the information is complete, you will probably not get what you expected. The career advisor asked me the questions I expected the professional resume writer to ask. Also, look at their Linkedin account. I wish I had. His Linkedin page is empty....strange considering this is one of the offered services. Last, use a regular credit card or Paypal. These are just some things I've learned and wanted to share. I just don't want the same thing to happen to you.

Run for your Life

The man has a great sales pitch. My first draft of my resume was riddled with typos and grammatical errors. He sent me a resume format that he stated was outdated. The first few exchanges were horrible. The cover letter was not formatted and not professional in appearance. I spent the last few days exchanging emails with him and the last time he begin to insult me, and begin sending me these bizarre testimonials copied from his website. I filed a claim with my bank and was refunded my money. Please do not do business with this company. I wish I did my research before hiring him to write my resume.

Resumes Etc Resume Writing Review

Complete waste of $. Would never use again. I had to revise the entire resume and cover letters.

Don't waste your money... Amateur, boilerplate resumes

Don't waste your time and money. Amateur garbage resumes that you can download online. And Fred is a very nasty, harsh person. It's apparent from the previous reviews that he has robbed people before. Don't be fooled by his sales pitch. Just read the reviews. He stripped my original resume, and produced a very elementary school resume and then argued when I asked for revisions. Very rude, and screaming over me instead of just agreeing to disagree and renegotiate the very expensive $390+ price. He should close up shop... Fred is NOT a resume writer. And he has robbed a few people already.

DO NOT USE Resumeetc.com or FRED at Resumes Etc. FRAUD

Produced a garbage resume, and 3 identical cover letters that are completely boiler plate. DO NOT USE. I have an advanced degree, and thinking I was paying $390+ to a resume writer would give me some type of upgrade.. maybe even some "effectiveness" on paper. My 14 year old would have produced a better resume. DO NOT USE. Ashamed that I didn't do my research. I would have found all of these negative reviews, and surely would not have to put up with his very nasty attitude and demeaning emails. Professionals invite feedback.. they don't attack you and hang up the phone on you FRED.

Resumes Etc - Resume Writing Review from Mahwah, New Jersey

What a *** artist this man is. Ran up 700 dollars in unauthorized charges on my credit card. The resume, if you want to call it that, would have been better written by a 7 year old. Stay away from this place. He takes advantage of people trying to find work and support their families

First Call = Inexcusable Behavior

I was speaking with Fred at 7:00 p.m. per his time request. He was very slick. He became less professional as we went on. He used profanity that wasn't offensive to me, however, it was inappropriate. When I asked him the same question about how what he would product would be different than what was on my resume currently, he tried to talk in a circle. I did not confront or challenge him in any way and we had a nice conversation overall. However, when I informed him I was not ready to purchase and wanted to sleep on it, he almost hung up. I said I wanted to review my notes and get him my other versions of my resumes so he could see what I meant when I said the one I sent was only one example and not the whole picture. He said, " no, you can go call other places. I give everyone one chance. That's it." CLICK! WOW. Good news is I saved myself the misfortune thanks to this site. Beware.

This man is a crook and a really ***

Do not use this man! He's a crook and very shady. I paid over $500 for his services. He submitted 3 identical cover letters (minus 1 sentence - each cost $99) and a resume that simply put my current resume into another format, verbatim. I noted positives and things to change in a return email; he responded with a curt, snarky email reviling my change requests and calling me "ignorant about resumes." Sent the resume out for second opinions. ALL said a functional resume would reflect my experiences better. I asked his opinion and he became hostile. Very unprofessional.

Helped when no one else would

My name is Stew Lachy and I am an 88 year old WW2 combat vet.I was still working and needed a job to help support my 2 children dealing with health issues.I was laid off from my job where I sold social network advertising and did quite well. I went to several agencies who said bluntly that I was much to old.A friend told me about Fred at Resumes Etc. and how he works miracles, and I sure needed one,and I was broke.I met with Fred, tears in eyes and desperate. He said because of my age and service to my country that he would help me free of charge. He also said he needed a day to figure out how he would market an 88 year old.He called me the next day and asked me to come by his office. He had a great resume and a cover letter with a creative strategy. His cover letter stated that I was an 88 year old vet with a high level of energy and drive. It went on to suggest that hiring someone at my age would have 2 key benefits.first,it would motivate younger workers by constantly pointing to me as someone who meets goals even at my age.Second, potential clients would be highly impressed with a company who hires 88 year old vets.Guess what,it worked.Several employers were highly impressed and I was hired in 2 weeks. My advice is go to resumes etc.Not only are they smart, but who else would do for me what they did at no cost.

What a wonderful experience!

I did exactly the opposite of what these individuals are saying. I usually don't base my opinion on what a few individuals have to say. there are only 3 complaints on here total. I asked Fred how many Resumes he has written and its in the 27,000 range and going strong. How could there be that much success if he is a fraud? ANSWER: he is NOT a Fraud! He is the real deal. Fred was not only polite and witty but superior in knowledge about my situation. I had read his testimonials and that convinced me to have him create my resume and cover letters. After submitting my resumes I had multiple offers and a job within 4 weeks. Thanks Fred, you have no idea how grateful I am.

Alfred is a salesmen but not a professional

Alfred sold me on the phone with his knowledge of what I needed and took my money but gave me a sloppy product with typo's! Not only that but I sent info for revisions and he claimed he never got them. The resume will no get me a job. Not only that but he never made the revisions requested and was just plain nasty after he got my money. He agreed to refund my money for letters he did not write and did not do it. I will get my money back now because I am not crazy and this is his normal way of doing business. Shame on him! Karma is a wonderful thing.
