Payment issues

I was renting a storage in Oklahoma City. The property mgr. had told me if I couldn't finish on the first I could exit no later than the 2nd. I think he didn't believe I could get my things out by the 2nd I vacated the property on 9/2/23 The property manager said I vacated on 9/3/23 which is not true. Now I'm being charged $52.00. I spoke with him and he told me he removed the insurance payment. I think he was also upset because there were several people moving out the same day. Please let me know what I can do

CAN'T GET INTO CONTACT WITH HUMAN BEING

Rented a unit. Went to cancel your insurance and update with my own renters insurance. Went online. Cancelled the Orange Door policy. Tried to add my Liberty Mutual Insurance. It wouldn't let me. Tried to call customer service, only got recordings. Tried the virtual assistant. And it didn't understand the question. Don't know what to do next

The sore will NOT ANSWER THE PHONE!

I've called all last week to the actual store number I had a missed called concerning a matter and this particular location at 8989 Westheimer Rd Houston Tx 77063 will NOT and has NOT ANWERED the phone I've sent friends to this location and it's been to woman sitting and having a conversation amongst themselves while the phone is ringing, at least an hour has passed by and no one came into this location while I'm calling it's always an automated asking to leave a message for a property manager in which I'm still waiting on.a call from him or her I've called Corporate office and till today still absolutely "NO HELP"!! This is a major problem for anyone having a storage here if you cannot reach the employees inside the store while we pay our bill there Who's working for or with US? Signed a very unsatisfied customer but will be moving to UHAUL soon and that's where We Rent out TRUCKS from anyways - one stop shop. P.S UHAUL answers the phone inside the actual store!!!

Unauthorized use of my credit card

Without regard to customer service whatsoever. I was lied to. I was duped out of a full month's rent from a chat session in June and I was charged $422 after removing all my belongings and lock. On top of that it was impossible to contact a real person. I will never do business with that company again.

These guys denied me access after cutting my lock off That's a eat your food. I paid the bill in full but the lady at the front desk was the release I've ever encountered. Public storage is on Des Moi

These guys cut my lock off before it was time. I paid the bill in full and they still did not let me access the property. They wouldn't take their locks off. Even my even my wife tried to go in and access the unit and was denied access and she's on the account. These people suck. I would never go to them ever again and I hope she loses her job.

Discusting business

Price gouging. Raising rent by $50 every 4 months without warning. Even when paid on time, charge $50 late fee on contract prices. Never answer the phones or e mails. Bbb will not handle it. Atty general takes too long. Disabled veteran struggling daily with multiple health issues, no compassion. On a fixed income. They don't care.

An out of control employee

I rent unit d094@***a Boulevard Ventura there is an employee there who is making demands way past our contractual agreement his name is Manny and he is out of control he stood at my locker door yelling at me because he couldn't see me told me I was suspicious didn't like the way I had my storage setup. This was not part of the agreement and I had only been at the unit 1 hour in the entire week accuse me of being suspicious and told me if he came back and I wasn't moving stuff he was going to kick me out please contact me cuz if I have to go through the expense of packing up and moving my locker because of this one employee I will try my best to recoup those costs from you

Debt collector contacting me for a debt I don't owe

I have been trying to get in contact with public storage about an incident that happened back in April. I had been a public storage customer for three years at that point, and on April 1 2023 I was in town getting something out of my storage unit. When I opened my unit, there was rat *** that infested the entire floor of my unit including on many of my items. I immediately notified the front desk and said I will be removing my items effective immediately, and they informed me they will get a refund for the month of April, as this was completely unacceptable. After renting a uhaul truck and removing all of my items, I was informed by the front desk when checking out that I needed to pay the 95$ monthly fee since it was the 1st of the month. They said to call corporate to get the money back. So I payed, and called corporate. I spoke to several people who told me "we cannot refund you because your account is inactive because it was deleted. There's nothing we can do. I talked to more people who said the same thing and this is UNACCEPTABLE considering I could've rented a storage unit anywhere else and not had damaged items. I then disputed the charge, and received the money back. Now, I received a notification from members at my old address that I have a piece of mail saying a debt collector is contacting me because I have a 95$ charge in collections. I DO NOT OWE THIS MONEY and I am very upset that I was not notified by anyone else of this charge and the first time I'm hearing about this is through a collections agency which is obviously going to take a hit on my credit. From start to finish, public storage has been the WORST customer service I have ever dealt with. I have been on hold for 45 minutes now on my fifth attempt to contact the corporate line to settle this dispute. I again am requesting for this $95 charge to be removed off of my credit immediately. In my eyes, and even the front desk employee's at the ROCKVILLE, MD's public storage, public storage owes me money and that $95 charge should have never been charged. ESPECIALLY because I did not intend to move out that day, but of course i'm going to when there's rat *** all over. I need to be contacted about this matter immediately. Thank you.

I was extorted, and my unit was invaded and property was sold when showing proof of payment

Criminals working and operating this business I was extorted twice then the 2 nd time around they extorted me for money I did not owe or else my property was going to be sold after furnishing proof of payment via their portal

Had a hard time getting off the auto billing process , I was billed for the next month and it’s not even halfway through the month I just paid !!!

Was being charged on auto pay for next month and I just paid for the month of June , I think the billing process has changed me to far advanced for the next month of July, not even halfway through June and Im getting billed for July already ? I dont like having to pay so far in advance for the unit .

Clean Up Area 2142A

Hello Im a customer of public storage and Ive reported trash the nasty floor in my area. So far nothing has been done I cant have proper access to my unit because Im in top I have to put my bags on that nasty floor just today I had my bag on floor and picked up a dead roach please send someone to sweep and mop this area its dark in color because the floor doesnt gets mop.

A practical failure on every level. I have been trying for a year to reach their customer support to handle a simple issue. I don't live in the state where my unit is currently held (I moved a little while ago), and I've been trying to reach out to the on-site staff as well as the overall company to get some assistance. No one is ever available through live chat, phone, or text. I have to call the direct number to the site at least six times before someone will pick up. I try to call at least six days out of the month in order to get help. Now, imagine this over a year! 72 days A YEAR at minimum, and that's not mentioning the number of call attempts. The rate that these units go up in price is untenable and unethical for some bottom-of-the-barrel service. I hope that this company gets investigated and acquired by someone else. I can't imagine anyone else that does it worse than Public Storage on every feasible level. When I changed my card information a couple of weeks ago, they called me the next business day to say "We noticed you turned off Auto-Pay. Are you moving?" No??? They've pulled this stupid mess before, and they say their computer "noticed Auto-Pay is off", but it didn't see that I have a new card? Or that I turned Auto-Pay back on immediately after switching info? Okay. They've done this several times to me before. But today, I get a text sending a "friendly reminder" on how to avoid late fees. ??? Huh? I updated my card. I go online to pay through the easy pay option. Can't find my account. I go to log in, and it's not sending me any confirmation emails at all. But when I call over the phone using the exact same information, the automated service can find me without an issue? FIX YOUR STUPID WEBSITE, YOU WORMS. WHAT'S ACTUALLY WRONG WITH YOU. God, I wish I could get my money and my life back. Screw this company. I'm so sorry to anyone that uses them. Public Storage should be used as a case study on how awful and inefficient monopolies are. I hope they get sued into the ground. You need to be investigated and closed down.

Charging bogus fees claiming my bank declined the payment due to NSF and contacted my bank and they did not decline the payment and going out they never ran the payment through my bank, funds were ava

My name is Denise Harward on 5/2/2023 I paid my bill of $76.77. 3 days later I received 2 text messages 1 said my payment wad overdue and charged additional fees and the 2 stated my payment was rejected by my bank. This was a new card but had been used multiple times within this period of time. The funds were available for this payment to be made and I contacted my bank immediately regarding why the payment was not released. My bank stated that there were no transactions from Public Storage in the amount of $76.77. I then contacted the manager where my unit is and he refused to deduct the $25.00 charge for NSF that I was being charged but the payment was never sent through my bank for payment (which the funds were there and available to cover the payment. Whatever the issue was, was not on my end. The online payment I made was available and can prove the funds were there at the time they claimed my bank rejected but my bank is showing nothing from Public Storage was ever run through my bank account at all and can prove the funds were available at the time the transaction took place. I contacted the manager again and he still refused to remove the NSF fee that I should have never been charged on the first place. I had no problem immediately paying the $76.77 but I am NOT going to pay an additional fee of $25 for a mistake that came from your end NOT mine. And was told that I would be locked out of my unit until I pay the $25 fee that I being charged for absolutely no reason. I will be taking my business elsewhere and will contact BBB regarding this matter is the $25.is not removed from my account and if access to my unit is denied due to the bogus $25 fee I am being charged for nothing I will seek legal action to resolve this matter immediately and will make sure that everyone is aware of the way that The Public Storage companys conduct their business and treat there customers. Im not paying the additional fees just his you make a few extra dollars. This is not the first time reading these prior reviews that this company has tried to screw people out of money and with all the competition out there with so many new storage companys everywhere I will make sure that the prospective customers in the future know what shady business dealings your company does and use social media and the BBB and I will also file a complaint with the appropriate departments and agencies and demand an investigation into your companys practices and fake charges you charge people without any basis or reasonable explanation to the additional unnecessary fees. Again..let me reassure that I have l the proof needed to show this fee is just shady and has no valid reason for the additional charges to my account. Lots of other storage companys out there for people to use! Good ones, that dont conduct there business in the shady manner that it appears the Public Storage company does. Lots of good ones out there that will eventually shut down the bad ones. Please co duct your business and treat your customers in the way that you would want to be treated if you were the customer. Honest and good business dealings not shady and rip hard working people by bogus fees and basically stealing their hard earned money

Website misguided size of storage unit and only offered lock charge fee

If you go to their website and look at the size guide you only see two images. The images both have regular door-size entries. When going online there was no indication of the height of the 5x5 I was interested in. I had a budget in mind and thought the prices were based on climate control and location. I chose the cheapest option. After paying for the unit I showed up at the time I selected only to find out the unit was only 4 ft. in height. When speaking with the employee at the location on the phone the next day due to the office being closed at the time I was there I was informed they could upgrade me at a higher price. I was looking for long-term so I requested a refund until I was able to afford the unit because I felt the website was misleading in their images of the size of the unit and there was no indication of the height which gave me a false sense of multiple heights for this unit size. The employee only cited the policy that they could only refund the lock charge. I am telling you that the website misguided me into believing the size of the unit was of the image depicted and you want to cite policy? She didnt even bother to go to the website and check but only tell me most people come in, like I was wrong for even going to the website. I went to the website because of your daily price changes and I wanted to get a price I could afford. You cant get that if you go into the location and will be charged the highest price for the unit. So I refused the refund and contacted Debra Wright, Customer Service Director for Public Storage. This is the lady more than likely for the great 1.5 stars on BBB and many Facebook pages stating how they hate Public Storage or the many complaints about terrible customer service. Obviously she doesnt care because it got passed on to someone else who simply closed out my account and refunded my lock charge with no response or explanation. Obviously I dont need to go any further to find out why they have such terrible reviews. If you go into the location I expect you will get what you will see. Any issues you have will more than likely get cited policy. Policy obviously has no exception. I am simply amazed at how this company has set a policy with no exceptions. Your website needs more clarification on sizes. Include the height of the units. Wow, solved two of your problems and I am not even on the payroll. Obviously, I think there needs to be a change in corporate and hiring people who think customs issues are not something they just ignore and follow policy. Knowing you are the problem should be your first step. Unfortunately, I really doubt you will get to the first step because the policy doesn't allow it. I repeat, if you go into the physical location and get setup you should be fine until you experience a problem and policy will trump everything. ***UPDATE*** Thanks for following up. First I would like to thank you for having this site for consumers to vent. My experience with the Washington State AG department, doesnt look for deceitful or fraudulent practices and seem to side with the businesses from single consumer complaints. I am researching if my state AG receives funding during his election time. Making no insinuation. Yes, Public Storage actually gave me a full refund but the problems didnt stop there. I needed a storage unit and since Public Storage came through in the end I gave them another chance. So, I placed a hold on a storage unit and called the facility to validate the height of the unit. I was informed the 5x5x unit was 8 in height. I followed through with paying for the unit and scheduled a day to start my contract. On the day my rent was starting on the storage unit I loaded up a borrowed vehicle and went to storage my first load. Prior to all this starting I had measure the items I was storing in the storage unit so I had a general idea of how things should fit. When I arrived at the facility and started to store my items, things were a little tight. After unloading everything, I opted to bring a tape measure on my next load. Once I loaded up my second load and arriving at the storage facility I went to the unit to measure it. After measuring the unit, the measurements for the unit was 5x4x8. I was being shorted 1x5x8, which equals 40 cubic feet of space I was losing. This is a 20% loss of storage space on an advertised 5x5. Of course I emailed the same person who provided the refund at corporate. I received a response from her stating that the sizes of the storage units are approximate, citing its in the contract. What? Why would a storage facility rent their units based on approximate sizes and not the actual size? Its not like the storage units suffer from shrinkage either while used or not. Its obviously a fraudulent method that the storage industry as a whole uses and not just Public Storage. Regardless what Public Storage says, by simply putting that the storage unit sizes are approximate, I believe they would have to show some sort of rational reason why the units arent being measured and how much shortage of a storage unit is acceptable since units charges are based on size. I unfortunately cannot afford to spend time and energy suing this company because I would love to do so. I cant imagine anyone thinking these types of tactics is acceptable behavior by any business. Unfortunately based on the complaints I read taking on this company is not something one person can do. Maybe a class action lawsuit needs to take place but still not sure of my next steps.

Discriminating/neglectful

I paid for my storage unit 1400 due to late fees and non payment I've been in communication with the storage and never once did they mention Lien or auctions as in result to my unit. As soon as payment is made I would be able to gain access to my storage. I made my payment in full...my lock was taken off and their lock was replaced in my locks place. I open my unit ad Come to find out all my belongings are ransacked and everything is gone an all that is left were boxes on top of boxes of nothing but packing material and some more empty boxes with trash were put in the boxes . . When I brought this to the property managers attention her name is felicia this is at the 15285 hesperian san leandro ca. Location..she laughed in my face shurgged her shoulders & turned the situation around and told me to get off the property. Wouldn't have anytime to understand where I'm coming from and help me find out why this like this. Wouldn't show or look into any camera footage never told me in our communications that my lock was cut off and replaced with their lock the door is made to have 2 locks put on to it.1 being there's if needed and my lock. My lock should have never been taken off... MY STUFF IN MY UNIT IS ALL SCATTERED AND GONE !. SHE WOULDT LOOK AT FOOTAGE TO HELP FIGURE THIS OUT SHE WOULDN'T GIVE ME A PRINT OUT OF MY ACCOUNT INFORMATION SO THAT WAY I WOULD BE ABLE TO FILE A COMPLAINT. I WOULD LIKE TO BRING THIS TO A LAWYER AND GET THIS FIGURED OUT PUBLIC STORAGE IS IN THE WRONG FOR SO THIS TO MY BELONGINGS ACCEPTING MY MONEY NOT PROTECTING MY THINGS AND TOSSING ME TO THE CURB BECAUSE THEY DONT WANT TO DEAL WITH IT. I BELIEVE THERE THE ONES RESPONSIBLE TAKING MY BELONGINGS..JUST TOLD ME SHE WANTS ME OFF THE PROPERTY. THIS IS NOT RIGHT IVE TRIED CALLING THE DISTRICT MANAGER AND STILL IM GETTING NO TYPE OF HELP FROM ANYONE. HOW COULD A BUISNESS DO THIS TO SOMEONE. THEN TREAT THEM AS IF I DID SOMETHING WRONG. ALL MY THINGS ARE GONE & CAN NOT BE REPLACED.
