I have been a mechanic for 35 years , bought a 5.3 chevy engine from oriellys installed it with everything brand new ,including the oil pan and valve covers timing cover and all. Can't get any oil pressure, called oriellys, they said I have to call the company. I called ther customer service and was gave the run around the guy I talked to was rude and then hung up on me.this a a terrible company that doest want to back there sorry engines. Worse experience ever. I will get jasper engines from now on . 35 years of installing jasper engines no problems what so ever. Order 1 from power torque and problems. Lesson learned . Awful company

Two so called marine engines 5.7

Original review Feb 25, 2022
Bought 2 - 5.7L Marine engine from local O'Reilly's when arrived and was picked up big dent in left bank valve cover but didn't realize unlit unpacking crate 2 weeks later to start installing in yacht. Clearly done from factory because plastic bag wasnt tore or crushed there. Secondly after installing Both engine. After 7 hours on one and 9 hours on other began seeing oil slick in bilge. Then cleaned it good again then took it out for the weekend 2 hours later looked again and there was a trail of oil under both engines. Talk to O'Reilly's and by no surprise here call this number for warranty. Oh I see what's coming. Exactly oh hey give us pictures and start warranty claim. Well 50 bucks an hour they have an $800 total on labor to repair. Tell me one shop that only charges 50 bucks an hour. Geez so went to O'Reilly's told them I will remove engines I want money back unsatisfied because they all guarantee I would be happy and no problems. Well knowing GM engines since the 50s timing chain covers have been major weakness for oil leaks and throughout time still GM still couldn't get it right. In saying that the 5.7 Vortex was worse with oil leaks around plastic covers. So they said they would warranty them send info Without pulling engines at 9 hours each plus a large forklift due to Radar Arch Tried changing out 3 times without being able to pull oil pans and do right each plastic covers no time came back to leaking. Finally got tired of messing with O'Reilly's and cheap Dorman covers went to solid aluminum covers from Summit Racing. Now fixed can't get any reply from LKQ/Power Torque which is their company. Junk don't buy stay away. Find better source because warranty is No GoodGoodstay away from O'Reilly's and Power Torquestay

Go elsewhere

Had a 3 year warranty on a 2009 5.4 litre engine. A year and a half into it engine lights started coming on. I would take it to my mechanic. He would run a scan and it would read a problem but it was not detectable. This happened over the next year and half where finally my mechanic finally replace a cellinoid. It said they though that should fix it. Again after a few they engine grew sluggish one day. After taking my truck back to my mechanic, he informed me they had to put a new cam in it. Should be there days. I rented a truck so I could work. Second day I was informed Power torgue sent a cam that did not fit because it was too big. My mechanic said that I was getting a new engine. After paying three weeks of rental car at $950, my car was finished. My mechanic said it looked like I never changed the oil. I said to him I've had cars for 40 years and never neglected maintenance of a vehicle. He said they might not pay for my new engine because of neglect. I paid $6500 for my last engine, drive a lot showing real estate, am 57 years old, have had 12 cars and now I choose not to maintain my vehicle? Now Power Torgue is not paying my mechanic or For my engine. Now remember the engine is in my truck and was in when told they might not cover it because of sludge build up. Do not use O'Reillys or Power Torgue engines unless you want to be filling one of these out. I have now hired an attorney to deal with this. I am also contact the better business bureau. By the way I was told they were extending my warranty but now say they gave no record of it.

Valve noise

Ordered engine from Orieliy , engine was two weeks late installed by the book. Started engine , excessive valve noise . Went to Oriely ,they said out of our hands now. Called power torque they said just put back in shop , check valves , send them ones that maybe be bad ? They pay only 50.00 hr. Toward shop rate once Powertorque determines its bad.So now I have to pay a shop to put in valves and lifters that they installed on their engine , rude " Tech" said thats the deal so live with it. He also said might as well replace them all while in there .Isnt this why we buy reman. Engines? So far truck down a month , lots of money out , no truck yet . Maybe huge mistake . They have been paid, auto parts store has been paid , Im still with out my truck and still have to pay out to repair the engine they said they repaired . And dont know if this is going to work at all. Why should they care , they have their money, they know we have no choice , Sent out *** engine , didnt run right out of box, they laugh to bank .Their check cleared . I want to send them engine back, get ALL my money back since they have my block. And I will go buy new truck. By them getting paid that shows my good intentions, they should be more then willing to honor their end.

DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY

I had an engine for one year. Took it to get checked for a knock and was told the engine was bad. Sent it in under warranty and after they inspected it they denied my claim. Said it was running rich and that caused the damage. My mechanic did a full inspection and guaranteed me that running rich was not the problem. As I read the reviews I see that I'm not the first or only person to have this happen to them. This is a scam company who doesn't give a damn about the customer. I cant believe that O'Reilly continues to do business with them.

5.7 Hemi Dodge Ram 1500

Completely satisfied! I am on 20,000 miles and no issues. I am sure they have a small percentage leave their facility that have manufacturing/build issues, but it has to be a small percentage. My guess is the reviews where people have an issue at start up or shortly thereafter are due to installation/start up procedures not being followed. The oil pump on these engines MUST be pre-filled and the oil system MUST be pre-pressurized or you WILL have a failure.

4.0L Chrysler Engine

Replacement long block engine was ordered from O’Reillys, and looked good in the crate. This was a replacement for a factory engine that had a broken piston skirt on #3 cylinder. After installation it was slow to start and had a knock at start up. The oil system had been primed, and oil pressure verified before start up. After a few seconds the knock went away and the engine seemed to run smoother. I ran the engine for a few minutes while I finished up a couple of small items on the install. The owner of the vehicle came by about thirty minutes later. He asked if he could start it up and hear it. As we were talking he cracked the throttle and the engine began knocking and died. I ran a compression test and found two cylinders with 0 PSI, and two with 15 PSI, the other two were around 100 PSI. I checked the cylinders with a bore scope for obvious damage, but could not see any. Contacted O’Reillys, who started a case with Power Torque. The warrant rep called me and told me the engine would have to be pulled and sent to them to determine if it was a warrantable repair, which will take 4-6 weeks. Spoke with the manager at O’Reillys, who said they had a 100% failure rate on their engines. Gave me a full refund, provided new oil and filter, and discounted a reman from a better remanufacterer. Received a call over a month later that the warranty claim was denied. They claimed that I had left debris in the intake and it was injested into the engine to cause a failure. I cleaned the runners of the intake after cleaning the gasket mating area, so any debris would have been in the engine from their rebuild. Also, I did not see any evidence of debris when I checked the cylinders with the bore scope. Bottom line, stay away from Power Torque. O’Reillys was awesome and their customer service was excellent.

Six months and still not working.

2006 Dodge Dakota with transmission problems, mechanic said it needed to be replaced. Trans. was ordered from O'rielys. They get them from Power Torque. It took one month from the time of the original problem diagnosis to getting the truck back. All was fine for just over 700 miles. The transmission started throwing out codes and check engine light came on. So back to the shop. Three weeks later after new clutch solenoid and PCM were installed truck back on road again, but only for two weeks and just under 100 miles. So back to the shop. This time its the PCM, (what again?) ordered from O'Rielys two weeks to come in, and it too is bad. So Six months after initial problem the truck is still at the shop waiting for more parts, and new PCM. The moral of this story is, If you need a transmission or engine DO NOT GET IT FROM O'RIELYS/POWER TORQUE UNLESS YOU LIKE BEING WITHOUT A VEHICLE FOR...... WHO KNOWS HOW LONG. Bottom line Their Warranties are a joke and they don't even know the meaning of customer service.

Bad motor, after 4000 miles,

the 4.0 ford motor got a lifter peck at 4000 miles,o,reillys called ptq and was told to have me take back to the shop that put it in have them pull valve covers and check lifters,3 bad lifters and the valve stems were not all the same height.any where form 0 to 28 th clearance, you can not do this on with rail rockers all so the rockers hammer so much the motor has fine metal in oil.I am getting no where I am out 1 truck , price of motor, labor and oil ,coolant plugs etc. what can I do after 4 weeks

Warped heads

Bought a power torque engine from O'Reilly's. The store did me good but after one year of running in a 2002 jeep liberty it blew both head gaskets. Sent the motor back to power torque as per instructions to be torn down and check for manufacturer defects found that both heads were warped 8 thousandths and they were not going to honor the warranty which is 3 year and unlimited mileage. Know the motor is missing and nobody knows where it is just about ready to file a complaint with the BBB and get the authorities involved cause it can be fixed.

Terrible Company

OReilly auto parts has stepped up and agreed to replace engine..

Original review Jul 27, 2018
Reman engine put in 2 years ago.. Put about 15000 miles on engine, it spun rod bearings.. Pulled engine and tore it down to long block, for a warranty inspection.. Vehicle has 2 spun rod bearings, causing engine to seize.. Very Evident, withe bearing material everywhere.. Send engine to California for inspection,3 weeks later i call to check on it and they tell me it is NOT covered under my 3 year, UNLIMITED MILES warranty... They claim the distributer drive gear was worn and caused the engine to lock up... Are you kidding me.. There is no way that caused this problem.. The rod bearings spun, causing the engine to fill with foreign material.. This company uses the cheapest crap parts, and sells a rediculous warranty.. O Reillys auto parts wont take responsability for the junk they sell... Power torque and o reilly auto parts are by far the worst company to deal with... Will never deal with either of these crooks again... If i wanted junk, Id have bought from northern auto parts... These 3 companies sell JUNK.... PLAIN AND SIMPLE.....
