I didn’t even know that this is widely known what is scam the school is and how mean everyone is

I actually ended up leaving during my time there, because I was targeted and harassed by the instructors by the owners, and by the other students, and nothing was done about it but they they made sure they kept my money. I actually ended up, leaving during my time there, because I was targeted and harassed by the instructors by the owners, and by the other students, and nothing was done about it, but they they made sure they kept my money in all actuality. My father passed away and it was very out of the blue and very devastating for me, I let them know about this. Do you think they cared? Ha ha ha, ha ha the only thing that matters is if youre lining their pockets I ended up going to a smaller trade school for not even a quarter in fraction of that money and let me tell you you learn the exact same stuff. You just dont have to drive an hour out of your way and buy a bunch of stuff every single time you come in do you didnt know you needed by the way dont ever do that make up class? Its a scam.

Stop them from stealing students money

A previous student of PM skin care program in Pasadena. I have never seen this much racism and dishonesty. From my experience I have a disability, I was told by a teacher due to my disability I would never graduate and make it. Well I did graduate so jokes on her. But specifically Peggy is the problem she is the dean of the school. Everytime there is a problem is she leaves the country. Seems pretty sketchy when all of your excuses Im out of the country I cant help. Also, after paying tuition, including our own products that are for practice on ourselves. The school provides us with products to practice as well and use on clients. Later on through the program we were told we cannot use any products the school offered on our clients we have to use our personal cant we purchased then we were also told to bring in our own wax to learn how to wax. The school is beyond messed up. I truly think they are stealing our money for their vacations and she has no care about the students. As a principal/ Dean of the school you would think your students are your priority. Also, you will never have a consistent teacher because they either quit or get fired every week so there is no consistent teaching. So basically my point is, do not give them any money or any time there are wonderful schools out there to learn from, but this is not one of them. As a student pay you deserve a lot more than what they give you. Also they hire criminals and people with sexual harassment records. Teachers have put hands on students. And to top it off they have so many lawsuits against them for the exact same thing. This is the Paul Mitchell located in Pasadena.

I got scolded Using hair dye for practice on my doll hair, one of the staff members told me I have paid $10 for a bowl . Which is not right , I dont have that much money, I have to budget my expenses for my medication

Student Treated unfairly

Good evening my name is Jamia Lawton Ive been calling every day like the last two weeks to speak to someone in corporate reply Mr. solutions about Paul Mitchell Fort Lauderdale that I am currently attending. I was suspended this morning for helping an Adaptive student who ASKED for my help as I was clocking out . The document the advisor wanted me to sign I refused because the statement says I disrupted a student during a service when really the student disrupted me and ask me for help . I proceeded to help her verbally and was told by a learning leader not to , when were taught to help from day 1. I never took over her service . Theres a lot of things going on behind closed doors that I want to bring awareness of stories of being treated unfairly rules of being broken staff or gossiping with other students causing drama. The staff is barely teaching things we need to know the curriculums are all over the place. staff is aware of the students are complaining about coloring services cutting services and formulations yet we had one big class hands on one time after being told they will put more effort into being hands on. People on the floor is lost most of the time when it comes to coloring services and we resort to eachother . Theres 4 people in office and majority of the time we have 1 learning leader on the floor to try to tend us all . When I begin Paul Mitchell August 16 I came in with open arms to learn and be able to share knowledge . We were taught to helpif we see our peers struggling or if they ask . Today I got shut down infront of a client as well as the student by Ms .Jackie . All because I did a flawless blowdry and the student asked me how to achieve the look on her client I verbally told her what I did and the learning leader told me not to help . She then walk away as well not providing her help the student just asked me for . Some get in trouble for helping other students when Paul Mitchell teach to help when someone needs help others dont . Ive met with Miss Frank the Director have also met with Ms. Wanda the advisor .A few weeks ago Miss Frank made a comment to a few students that me and the group of girls that were coloring hair that we had bad energy. I said something to Ms.Frank about it today and then she tried to put me in out office when I asked why would she make such a negative comment to other F.Ps. Miss Jackie the barber gossip is a lot with the F.Ps as well and everybody just repeat Whats being said. Im a great student it shows in ALL my work and the way I am amongst other students . I get faced almost everyday for always being so willing to help . I have great attendance I give great customer service and they give me issue every time a student ask me for help . Paul Mitchell Fort Lauderdale the students rely on each other for help most of the time . Meaning the teachers are either confusing us with our formulas .So sometimes we decide to lean on each other for help and that shouldnt be a issue that I constantly face . Now staff find it as an issue and we are being told not to help each other. The staff is so discouraging to not just me but a lot of the students. we had at least five students drop within the same week for the same issue not being taught correctly . I feel like Im being targeted sometimes I feel like its because of the color of my skin. I just want my license and be able to finish this miserable journey that started off as a dream. Its nothing wrong with refreshing the learning leaders memory and making things more hands on in class . We have a whole new app that lots of us have trouble using . Majority of the students are on the phone during class because the lesson is all over . Im almost at my finish line and it feel like Im being held back for being Me . I have 400 hours left and its like they dont want to see me win . They as so discouraging , all the students feel the energy , I really need to speak to someone .

Fraud and Scam

Paul mitchell the school of Nashville is a SCAM! I wanted to enroll as a student in the Esthetician program. I was persuaded into choosing Cosmetology and stated I will be able to learn Hair, Skin and Nails. Which is FALSE! They just want more of your money! They have a curriculum on paper, but do not implement. Many times where instructors sign worksheets (for the board of education) without students actually putting the hands on work. School tells you to fill out FAFSA even if students will not be attending during that time period, which does not make sense! If there is a student that will not be in school, why would they need to fill out more FAFSA! Many students have not received their loans or disbursements. The school can't keep instructors or any staff members for more than a few months. I have voiced my concerns and have dealt with retaliation and hostile environment because of it. It feels more like work because they push you to sell products and take clients all day and if you refuse, they will send you home! There has been many days where there are students, including myself we didn't have a chance for lunch break or any break due to all the client bookings. It feels like LABOR just WITHOUT PAY! Also TRACK your hours because I feel they manually deduct hours here and there from students because there have been many times where students hours were missing without reason. I have dealt so much harassment and bullying from students and instructors that it has caused mental and emotional distress. I enrolled in school determined to now discouraged and in debt!

Unfair poor treatment

This is my first time dealing with fasfa. All I stated that I felt I was not getting help and i got dismissed with rude attitude then hung up on. I asked to speak to supervisor and because thier friends she was one sided and just as disrespectful. I have proof. This was very unjustly and discouraging.

They are a corrupted business

As an institution that claims and is supposed to prepare and teach ...they are a fraud. They steal your time and your money and hold your education credited hours ransom.

Where is the money

My child graduates in a month and now is being told over $3000 more is needed to be paid in order to graduate. I requested copies of all financial aid and Pell grant disbursements. I got the copies but the dollar amounts do not add up. They actually billed for room and board, transportation, and personal expenses in which they provided none of. But they absorbed her Pell grant for some of these costs. Pell grants are given to rhe student to help with school costs. This is money I know does not have to be paid back nor can the school bill for it. The only time they can absorb a Pell grant is if her student loans to not cover the balance owed to the school. Has anyone out there experienced any financial issues with this school?

PoorCustomer Service Experience

Corrected Terminology at Appointment Setting

When asked what it would cost to dye my hairSamantha went on to tell me how they dye Easter eggs and color their hair. Thought the verbiage may be correct, it wasnt needed when it comes to good customer service. Correcting someone should have trust and rapport between a consumer and the provider. And the manager Zachary wasnt any better when he tried to explain why the kids in school need to be corrected. I agreed that the kids should be corrected but not the customer. Verbiage can be taught after the appointment is set and once the customer expresses being open to learningwhen I asked to speak to someone over Zachary to express how important customer service is.. he responded with whats your goal here? Do you want to get a service with us or simply to get someone in trouble?. I just wanted someone to understand that this appointment experience should have went better for the customer.

Unreliable teachers

My daughters class is frequently left with out any instructors and has not been taught much if at all. She used to be put on the floor next week and is completely unprepared and untrained to do so. The teachers show up Inconsistently and sometimes not at all and have been cussing in front of customers as well as students. Regret sending my daughter here

Not cool what they did

I wish I could give no stars. I had applied to attend evening classes and was told I was ok to start today which is 2/28/22. However I havent heard anything from the school so I reached out the Tuesday before school was scheduled to start to receive a email I wasnt accepted. I sent a reply asking why and I never received a reply to my email or multiple phone calls and messages. Im sitting wondering what happen, however I have no clue. The day I was suppose to start school I get a letter in the mail I was denied with no explanation, just apply again in a year. So be aware mind you I did everything asked of me and gave my last $100 for my application fee.

Bad experience

If i could leave Zero stars I would! I arrived about 5 minutes early. Being one of the first clients to walk in. I had a 10am apt and had requested a 2nd stage student. I work night shift and went after getting off work thinking it wouldn't be 5 hours to get my hair done and back home for bed. Wrong!! Waited about 20 min for a student to come get me. That was not a big deal though. I then pulled up several photos after the student asked me what I was wanting. I told her for the past 14 years my daughter had been the only one that was doing my hair. She is now very ill and can no longer do it. I thought since I had gone to another Hair school in the past before my daughter took over this would be a great idea. My Daughter only used Paul Mitchel products so she wrote down EXACTLY what products and the process she does my hair with. Upon showing this to the student she seemed confused and got the instructor. The instructor seemed to understand and started explaining the process in a way I assumed she understood. I then told the instructor that I was scared they may still be confused. She reassured me it was fine. This instructor had very short almost platinum hair style lots of tattoos . I have a few tattoos as well just stating the description to designate between those that worked on me as I did have another instructor come by at the end. About halfway through the 2nd student got another client so yet another student started helping to "Hurry up the Full Highlight process" as i understood.. I was supposed to be getting a haircut as well after the Highlights. They started checking the process what i thought was too early almost as soon as they put in the last foil. They all 3 worked at different speeds while placing the foils. They said ok lets go wash it out. Washed my hair a few times conditioned rinsed and started talking very quietly between them about my hair and before they were talking very plain at an octave I could hear every word lots of complaining and gossiping some instructor names Jessica or Jennifer that They obviously had no respect for. . I really was scared after the whispering started. They then got the instructor and in silence she looked at my hair and left. She had told her to go dry my hair and she would look again. She took me back out. Immediately after removing my towel i said omg it definitely needs a toner. The instructor wanted to try something else first. So back to that uncomfortable shampoo bowl again. She did whatever process she was told to do. left it on 25 min with my head in that bowl. She checked on me once. I am 60 and this was not a pleasant position. She then got her instructor and it is at that point they put on the toner. Another 25 minutes in that bowl. Back to the chair. I had carrot top striped with something grey that was supposed to be the blonde. She started drying again with a boars hair round brush vigorously as she was obviously upset SCRAPING my now very tender scalp. It has been 5 hours at this point . So Here comes another instructor. Never saw the original one again after she realized her advice did nothing to improve their mistakes. This instructor looked and then went and another lady came i can only think that maybe she was the director. She immediately admitted this was a mistake and not what should've been done to my hair. The student disappeared and She gave me 2 options. 1 to TRY to do highlights again. Another however many hours!!! Or 2 do an allover brunette color. I haven't been Brunette since my 30's! I said of course not to TRYING the highlights again and asked how the process as for the allover color. At that point I said I can do that myself!!!! Almost in tears I then just got up and left. Lesson learned here. I have read the other reviews and I do not need your standard reply of" I am sorry and someone will be contacting you shortly" unless you are wanting to pay $100.00 I had to pay to TRY to fix it. Yes I said TRY. It now is a brassy auburn highlights with a dull light brown. Definitely not blonde highlights. UNPROFESSIONAL

Lack of professionalism

Written on Friday, August 27, 2021 Occurred on same day. I brought my daughter to the Pleasant Hill location. Her appointment was at 8:30 AM. Its now 5:42 PM and we just got home. The problem was not the time it took, although that was a bad sign, but rather the gross lack of professionalism. We came in and met Lyre who was the student that attended to my daughter today. Lyre is a friendly and kind person. Her attention to detail was diverted by the complete disorganization of the system set in place for students. Time after time shed have to search for learning leaders. Apparently, there weren't enough learning leaders for the day. When I arrived at your school salon (after my daughter had been there multiple hours), my daughter was in tears. Lyre was trying to blow-dry her hair and when the Learning Leader was finally located, she came by and casually apologized to us for the total failure. I do not know her name as she failed to professionally introduce herself to neither me when I got there at 5:30 nor when my daughter got there 9 hours prior. However, she in fact, admitted in front of everyone that she felt bad because she was on her lunch break and wasnt able to help Lyre. Now, I am a human resources professional and I know labor law and everyone is entitled to breaks. However, when you have a client in a chair for hours, there has to be some attention to the details of the chemicals used on peoples heads. I was told about the lack of products, toners and the fact that purple shampoo was used to try to fix my daughters hair. What kind of operation are you running there? How can you charge clients for a service and not provide a quality product? Again, the learning leader disappeared and we were sitting there waiting again. Finally, Lyre just told us to go to the front desk since we were literally standing there with our bags in hand. The cashier proceeds to tell me that due to the mistakes, that I would be spared the service fee today. All I would have to pay for is the bowls and the haircut. I was flabbergasted. There was a total lack of client satisfaction. No sense of responsibility. I really felt sorry for all of the students there because they are not being taught in a manner which will teach them the value of client relations. If youre running a business to educate while serving the public you have to have the resources there and learning leaders to teach your students. I was upset so I calmly asked to speak to a manager when I met Micaela Cortez (sales and operations leader). She started with the fact that were getting a discount. I then got upset. I explained to her that she needs to hear what my daughters experience was like being there for over eight hours and not getting anything close to what she asked for. Micaela wanted to talk. She told me to calm down and said that theyd take my daughter in on Monday to fix her hair. I explained that we cannot return on Monday and that Id really expect them to fix my daughters hair right then and there. Micaela did not want to hear anything I was saying. She proceeded to tell me that she had already debriefed with the learning leaders about my daughter and that they were also confused about the outcome of my daughters hair. I do not want to be treated poorly, not given the service requested, and then lied to. I quickly told her that her learning leader had already admitted to being out to lunch, she apologized for the failure, and said they were missing many products needed to tone the hair correctly. I am shocked that Micaela is a manager or leader. Her demeanor and professionalism lacked what it takes to lead a group of students. It showed everyone there that her focus was not on the client. She did not have a sense of any urgency to apologize and fix my daughters hair. It actually seemed like she thought it was funny. She told us that hair sometimes reacts weird. I will be writing reviews on every consumer board I can find. Your management should formally discipline the learning leader and Macaela. I would like to reiterate that Lyre was an amazing student and it was the upper management that was utterly disappointing.
