Home issue

Ever since we bought a Palm Harbor home it's only 2 years old now but for the last two years we've had black mold our air conditioning ductwork collabs the sliding glass door was put in wrong so the floor leaked the floor came up there's cracks all over the walls there's the window trim is looks like they took it out of a garbage and put it up it's nasty I wouldn't recommend this place to anybody and if you buy a home from Palm Harbor Homes you're crazy because I will never ever refer them to anybody or buy anything from them they got *** work

Awful service

Not a helpful company. I was mislead into thinking they would help sell my manufactured home but after a month of good intentions my contact is not available at the company anymore. The one I was referred to never called me. I finally called the office and Adrian said he would help. Today I called for a follow up and he stated he didn't have time to help me. No one at Palm Harbor was going to be able to help. Do not recommend. Can not take the word to be true. They are not interested in helping people.

We have canceled the sale and are about to build

Original review Aug 04, 2022
We went to purchase a home. We were a 100% sale. Our salesman did NOTHING for us. We had to do all the calling around and working with the financial officer. We would call him and he would always say I'll call you back. He never did. We would wait a week and call him back. I told him it had been 5 months and we were no closer to getting our home. I finally sent an email to another PH General Manager. He forwarded that email to the store we were working with. The salesman called to let me know nothing was his fault. After a back and forth, I was ready to end the sale. My husband said to give them one more chance as we really wanted the home we had chosen. I told him to handle it because I was done with this sales rep. The rep tried to call me 4 days later and I let it go to voicemail and had my husband call him back. The rep said "gosh y'all are hard to get a hold of". This cracked me up because I knew he was just shifting the blame. We asked to get into a smaller home and he said let me check prices and I'll call you back. A week passed and he never called. My husband called him back and requested our deposit back. It's been 2 weeks so we called him and he said he'd let us know when it got there. Seriously??? We were a sure sell and you wouldn't call us back. We don't expect him to call and we will have to check with him every couple of weeks. This was the worst experience ever. We understand there were more hoops to jump through due to us going through the VA for financing, but he did NOTHING for us. We are now about to build. I would NOT suggest this PH. Had we gone with the store we originally went to, we would now be in our new home, but we chose to go with the store closer to us. What a huge mistake.

Scammed me and my family

We checked off check marks for what we wanted and somehow when we didn't get what we paid for, not only did they not refund us but the check marks somehow didn't exist anymore. We got jipped on windows, and their solution was to give us a better door....said the windows can't be put in after it's delivered....um then take the crap back and make it right. They refuse. We paid for it and they refuse to reimburse. The door they offered to make up for 4 huge windows wouldn't fit and they said they will not be servicing us anymore!!! You have got to be kidding me. They put carpet in the kitchen and we clearly wanted vinyl wood flooring and they did vinyl in the rooms and we wanted carpet! They said they won't be fixing that unless we pay....we already did pay for it!! We're missing partial cabinets and crown molding as well. We don't get to have our windows that we went over in depth and they never met their deadlines on delivery or sending people out. They said it showed we had repairs done and noone ever came out!! These people are scammers and should be put out of business. Report them as much as you can, please, bc people who earn an honest dollar do not deserve this kind of crap. This was a home for me and my family and it's turned into a headache that makes us feel like crap instead of feeling like we're cozy at home. My mother is wheelchair bound and cannot get around on the carpet, her home had carpet and I needed something she could get around on since she'll be living with me now. I'm so very upset bc she needs alot of assistance. Do not trust a word from any location period. Doesn't matter what they tell you, if it's not in the fine print, their word doesn't matter, and believe me, they will quote the fine print even if you talked to them 30 minutes before signing something. Do not, I repeat, do not trust this company at all. You will be broke and homelesss

Horrible service from Jeremy Gallagher

DO NOT EVER and I mean EVER deal with Jeremy Gallagher in Huntsville. He sold us our home at the end of October and told us the home would be delivered at the end of November. Then a week before the home was to be delivered, we received another call from Jeremy that we would not get our new home until sometime in January. By then, we had already given our landlord 30 days notice per our rental contract. Now, my family is packed and no home with nowhere to go since our landlord has someone moving in the same week that we move out. After many calls and Jeremy ignoring our calls and pushing us off on several other people at the office. One we find out that he didn't even finish our paperwork correctly, then he proceeds to leave a message for us to call the bank ourselves because he is out of town again (this being about the 3rd or 4th time since he sold us our home). We find out from the bank that they requested stuff from us, but he never said anything to us and stuff that we sent him that needed to go to the bank, the bank never received. Fed up with it all, we called the corporate office and after numerous tries, got a hold of someone that indicated to us that Jeremy should have never sold us our home because he is a manager and managers are not supposed to sell the homes, only the salesmen. Corporate got a hold of Jeremy, and he called us all pissed off because we called corporate and said we would have a home to us by weeks end. However, it would not be the home that we wanted. Because we had nowhere to go a 2yr old child, we decided to take the home that they were offering us. The home was delivered by weeks end and Jeremy said he had to hire someone outside the company to help with all the after work of delivering a home. This guy indicated that he would be back in two weeks so that it gave us time to go over the home and make sure there were no issues that needed to be resolved. Two weeks went by and no one showed or called. Jeremy was no longer taking out calls, and so we called the guy that Jeremy hired. This gentleman told us that he would not be back to finish our home until Jeremy paid him for the work that was already done. To this day, this gentleman has yet to be paid, and it is going on two months since we got our home. Still calling to see when they would be sending someone to finish our house and still Jeremy pawned us off on everyone else. So, we left a message with Jeremy that if we did not receive a call back ASAP that we would be having our lawyer contact him. Later that day we received a call from a person from the Austin warehouse. This man has been very nice and polite! I talked to him yesterday (Monday) and he has it already scheduled for someone to be at our home on Friday to go over everything that has to be finished or done to our home and then will schedule a crew to be at our house first thing on Tuesday morning. This has been a huge fiasco on top of the fact that I am pregnant and due soon. UGH!!! I will update this once everything has been done to finish out the home.

LIARS

I put down $2500 and signed a contract for a "Model Clearance" home on Dec 22, 2020. Mortgage was approved and I began process of inspections etc on my lot. All info sent to my salesman in Plant City, Fl. A week after my mortgage approved they let me know that they sold the model to someone else, and now want more money to "build me a new one." SO SO AWFUL! I am seeing an attorney next week.un AWayR

Problems

Dear Sir/Madam When we were going to purchase our home my husband was all for Palm Harbor, I on the other hand was not. He persuaded me to go with your company, now I'm sorry we did. We purchased our home on July 10, 2019, and I was the one who was excited because I had never purchased a home before. I was the proud one showing off the floor plan, showing pictures. Then the problems started off, and have continued. The flooring was showing "bubbles" (we didn't want carpet) and the floor itself was creaking. we were told that the person who fixes the floor was too big too fit under the house. Okay, we waited.....and we are still waiting. The trim inside the house started to fall off, beams inside were cracking (which I was told was our fault) the outside porch was , and still is coming apart, and numerous other things. When I first contacted the Buda store, they said someone would be in contact with me. (still waiting for that as well) Then a little thing called Covid 19 came into our lives, and all *** broke loose. Besides the country shutting down, I also contracted the virus. My husband and I were able to go to the Buda Village in November of 2020, which I know is past the year warranty, but remember that little thing called covid. I was told that there was nothing that they could do, but would contact the builders in Fort Worth. I was e-mailed a letter by Carrie Wickliffe (11-2-2020), and I responded with requested pictures. Still waiting by the way. I would hate to think that once the year warranty is over Palm Harbor doesn't care about the people that buy their homes, considering all of the advertising that is done to this effect. I wait your reply, Thank you, Cheryl Archer

Company fixed the issue and I have been provided with apology. We would like a written apology from Cliff..

Original review Oct 13, 2020
The 2 sections of the houses was delivered on Aug. 21, 2020, all went well. The 2 sections were attached a few days later. A storm blew in the front door and soaked the vinyl flooring in the living room. We call the retail office on 2615 SW Loop 410 in San Antonio for help. No one was there at 3:45 PM on a Friday. We were told to email someone named Rose Mary. We never heard from Rose Mary. With no one to help dry the floors we used towels and called Alamo Transport, the company that has hired by Palm Harbor to dry out the vinyl floors. They set a man with a little fan and left it blowing for 24 hours and the guy picked up the fan and left. The floor was still very wet but the guy from Alamo never bothered to pull up the tiles to inspect the subflooring. After 34 emails and photos, calls to corporate, we finally got a Palm Harbor crew to inspect the subfloors and sheet rock. All was still saturated a month later. Black mold was growing on the sheet rock and the floor were still moist. They wanted to sand the floors... We insisted through calling corporate to have the sheetrock and subfloor cut out and new materials reinstalled. This was done only through pain, heartache and lots of prayer. The first finish out crew was inept and stated they painted 4 bedroom walls, that was a lie. The trim had nail holes. the walls were scuffed, the carpeting was trimmed out with splintered wood. The back splash had gapping cracks and missing stone pieces, the stainless steel sink was dented, the toilet was leaking due to a defective cut off valve. The toilet had to be pulled, the floor dried and then the toilet reinstalled. The set up of the house was incomplete as 2 piers did not make contact with the frame of the house. Currently, there is still a pier missing. The walls were wet, it was a complete nightmare. Cliff, the manager of Palm Harbor is a bit weasel and does not care about customer satisfaction, he chooses to blame the customer and actually yelled at me on the phone. Cliff finally told me that he is in charge of retail and that retail does not handle repair, or set up problems. It clearly states on the emergency numbers left on the refrigerator to CALL THE SALES OFFICE WITH SET UP ISSUES. Cliff does not care and it shows... We finally called the secretary of Barry Forrest a Palm Harbor regional manager and the owner of Alamo Transport personally came out to few the torn up floors and missing piers. So much pain and heartache, simply for people not wanting to do their jobs. An A+ Palm Harbor crew was finally sent out and made really great repairs, the home's interior looks great. These problems are not unusual, you have to stay on top of all the workers, and when the 1st set of finish out workers, who by the way were fired due to poor performance. One of the men working in my home told me he served 15 years in prison. Why are there felons working in Palm Harbor homes? There is still a septic tank left uncovered leaving huge trenches, a missing pier and no skirting yet even though it is paid for. Never pay cash for one of these homes as since they have your money, people like Cliff, don't really care if you have problems. The sales staff is very professional and have no problem with them. It is the product and the set up where there are huge problems. Do not sign off on anything until all your interior finish out is completed. Turn on all your faucets, flush toilets. One shower head was clogged and there was no hot water, so they had to fix these issues. Take your time on inspection and insist on everything to be in working order. The materials that are used are cheaply made, so don't expect a mansion. It is a mobile home with vinyl floors, formica counter tops, etc. If you asked me would I purchase this home again, I would say yes but I would never pay cash, and I would never trust what I am told by repair crews and I would know that middle management is a waste of time. Go to corporate, they care and they will help you if you have good pictures. I would never accept no for an answer from anyone.

Horrible Experience

Our turn key experience has turned into a NIGHTMARE. We have dealt with rudeness, arrogance, unprofessionalism and avoidance. We are currently at 9 months into this process and are being told it will be another 2 months before we can move in. Our house is set in place and has been for 2 months, but we are now being told that they set it in the WRONG place and are in no hurry to get it corrected. Scott, the most discourteous GM at Caddo Mills, will not give us a straight answer as to when the house will be fixed. I have had to make calls to the engineer myself for answers. Our story for our first home has been an awful experience. I BEG you to NOT bother with this company. YOU WILL NOT BE HAPPY!

No on your life

Looked at a home on 30 November thought it was the right one. Had to get the wife on board so I gave them a 500 dollar deposit. The instructions were not to do anything until the third of December. I was ignored and the paper work went in the same day which was a Saturday. Went back on Monday too tell them too cancel the order. Found out the debit card was used to the 500 on Tuesday. I had told the manager on Monday not to continue with the sale. Still have not received a refund and I want it today. New Braunfels office is the culprit

Run away as fast as you can because this company did nothing but lie about everthing.

I bought this house in 2005 and I have regreted ever since. There are so many problems I don't know where to start. The clowns they sent to do the work should have stayed in the circus. The ceramic floor tiles where put on the floor right on the plywood.I found all the cement board under the carpeting. Every time we would complain about tiles coming loose they wood send one of their best flooring experts. We know have over 3/4 of the tile sitting loose.I found some of tiles with wood glue and some have dried thin set.It got so bad that when I walked in to the sales place the people would run and hide from me.It took 3 weeks after the house was done just to get the keys. Then we started to have plumbing troubles and all they say was to call the company that did the work. They would send out a couple of kids to look at the plumbing and they would say it looked ok to them. One day I tried to clean the shower drain and found that the drain was from sink. When I started to move it around it fell on the ground. When I got under the house I could not believe what they had done to the piping. They had sent kids out to do the work and not one person from Palm Harbor ever looked at the mess.It just keeps falling apart as fast as it can. I thought my retirement would fun not like this. Between the roof leaking and the black mold growing in the walls I don't know where to turn We are now having a lot of trouble with Country Place Mortgage the lender we where told to use.

DON'T BUY A PALM HARBOR HOME

BUYER BEWARE!!!! My parents, 91 and 85 just purchased a new Palm Harbor piece of junk. We were told to call Jeffrey Parker to schedule a walk through and arrange for things to be fixed. They have called 8 times and there has been NO RETURN CALL. My parents have been living with us for 2.5 months waiting to be able to move into their new home and are moving in without the walkthrough because they can't wait any longer. The workmanship on these homes is horrible. Everything in it is cheap and there are warped shelves, cracks, the counter top trims are all chipped, baseboards don't meet, trim is warped. the outside trim wasn't painted on top. It is the sawdust board and will be filling up with water as soon as it rains. PLEASE DON'T BUY FROM THIS COMPANY THEY BUILD POOR QUALITY HOMES THAT LOOK NICE AND THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE STINKS. THEY NEVER ANSWER THE PHONE, IT JUST GOES TO AND ANSWERING MACHINE, THEN THEY DON'T RETURN YOUR CALLS!!!

They cheat and lie, and use materials

Never wanted this bunch of crap, they send people out to do patch work, its all a scam. They have a certain list of people to get sewer and water, electric, we have had problems with this over price gunk of junk. Don't ever listen to their lies. My husband wanted a quick move in, yeah dont listen to

Worst experience ever!

We purchased a double wide modular home in Sept. 2018, the home showed up looking like crap, nail heads sticking up, hammer head dents all over. The bathtub is leaking, the cabinet doors laminate is pealing up, window blinds not working. There is a huge gap in the transition between the master bedroom, and master bathroom, windows not calked completely. I have been trying to get warranty work on this for almost a year, same issue as other customer complaints, they show up and then say they need to order materials, and never come back to fix it. Then when you contact them to find out when they will be back, they tell me they sent someone out who completed the work already, and they additionally try and make me out to be the bad guy. At every turn their warranty team tries to lay the blame for their *** quality on me somehow!! This is the worst work, and company I have ever had to deal with in my life. A brand-new home, built like crap, and somehow it is my fault. The only fault I can see, is having purchased a home from them, they have no respect for me or the quality of their workmanship. DO NOT EVER BUY A HOME FROM PALM HARBOR, YOU WILL NEVER GET THEM TO HOLD UP TO THEIR CONTRACTUAL AGREEMENT, AND THEY WILL BELITTLE YOU AT EVERY OPPORTUNITY TO TRY AND SCARE YOU AWAY FROM GETTING ANY WARRANTY WORK DONE OR FILING A CLAIM AGAINST THEM. THEY DO NOT PROVIDE ANY PAPERWORK ON WHAT THEIR WARRANTY COVERS, EITHER UPFRONT WHEN PURCHASING, OR AFTER THE HOME HAS BEEN DELIVERED! I AM A VERY DIS-SATISFIED CUSTOMER, AND WISH I HAD A BETTER AVENUE TO WARN PEOPLE FROM BUYING THEIR HOMES.
