Damaged all of my personal belongings

Original review Aug 02, 2021
Absolutely, AWFUL. I had a very short move that was literally less than 2 miles away and they could not even handle such a short move. Very "unprofessional" and nothing what I EVER expected. IT WAS A NIGHTMARE. I do not even know where to begin with all the damage. First, they damaged my wood floor. They scraped up the entire floor and cracked my door saddle, because the one mover dragged my very expensive Macy's cherry wood closet armoire across the floor. They did not even rap the bottom. Then I had to leave the closet armoire outside in front of the condo because the crew not only damaged the armoire, but could not handle lifting it. The crew broke my very expensive Travertine table. Two sides of the table were severely damaged and cracked. They new what they did and tried to hide the damage, by facing the damaged part of the table on the opposite end where it would take some time to notice it. They also left that part of the table partly wrapped. The crew damaged the speaker to my Sony sound system by placing my woofer directly on top of the speaker while they were unwrapping it. They scraped the entire top. One of the movers attempted to put together my cherry wood sleigh bed and did a terrible job. They also scratched up my sleigh bed when they dragged my box spring directly over the bed. The kid literally just dragged the box spring over the cherry wood bed frame. They also damaged the front door to my new condo and some minor scuffs on my couch. One of the gentleman also told me he worked for Capital Bank and Nationwide hired him as a mover. This kid, basically had his headphones on the entire time and did not do very much. The company had the audacity to charge me the entire price for the move and I am literally lost thousands of dollars because of all the damage. I no longer have my cocktail table, which was not fixable and my beautiful closet armoire was left outside, where it was rained on that same night and ruined. Nationwide Van lines sent me a very UNPROFESSIONAL crew and there is no way these guys were professional movers. This was the absolute worst experience ever moving. I have never experienced anything like this. When you look at their website, they come across as so professional. Its the exact opposite. I am looking for a refund from the company. The crew they sent for my move were not professional movers and damaged all of my personal belongings.

We have been let down on a luton van hire at the last minute

we have previously hired from nationwide and had no problems, even though they are one of the most expensive,we agreed a hire term from 12 dec. to 15th on contract cc4f3197 and paid a deposit of £532.80. on the thursday 10th dec we received a call informing us they do not have a van to hire us,this has created so many problems for us,we have tried to hire from other firms but at such short notice none were available,we have cancelled the 2 workmen we had in line for the move and will have to re-arange the project to a later date at extra cost and trouble so near to xmas. the final slap around the fase was that when i asked for my considerable deposit to be paid back into my debit account i was informed tht would take 3 work days to happen, nice doing business with you(i don't think ) peter britton st leonards hastings

Be very careful they might be brokers

Well I contracted nationwide movers to move me from littleneck NY to Oviedo fl. And they were schedule to pick up my stuff on Friday dec.15th they called and 4 days later 12/20 I’m still held hostage and no movers. They called me with every excuse that happened to truck, no honesty, no communication between driver and front office. Finally after waiting another hour per front office, I was offered to cancel.

Moving nightmare expensive and late delivering

we moved in July 2015. The rep that set up the move was real nice and made all sorts of promises. On the day of the move I was already halfway to our new home so my husband and son were with movers. He said it was a massive confusion and argument between movers. They could not move my Mom's bed so she had to buy a new one. When our household goods arrived there was so much damage and broken furniture. When I received a call to give my review I told all that had happened and was guaranteed that an email with the forms to claim the damage. 6/26/2016 and still no email, no claim form and no reimbursement for the damaged goods. We moved from MA to NC. I would not recommend that anyone use this company. I wish we had used someone local that does state to state moving or I should have read reviews before making the move. Very disappointed in the whole experience. We were also misled by the sales person on the delivery time frame had to stay in a hotel days longer than we expected.

Nationwide Van Lines - Bad Moving Service Review

This moving service is a nightmare. They lie and cheat from sales to service. You will spend more money at the time of pickup and then will wait longer than the guaranteed delivery date on the contract. The company only cares about money & not their reputation.

Nationwide Van Lines-Moving Company-True Experience-Stay Away and a Ripoff

Here are the high level bullets- 1. I moved from Rochester, NY to Greenville, SC. 2. The original estimate to move my household goods was "agreed upon" to cost 5800 dollars. All up/all in...ended up be just shy of 8000. The "Non-Binding" agreement, which is to benefit only the movers, is worthless. They sell you sweet nothings (that you have nothing to worry about and they will take care of everything) and you end up feeling just worthless when moving day comes as what you thought you packed (hours and hours worth of work) is not even close to what they want and you pay for every single scrap of tape and boxes. We told them over the phone in 100% good faith what we had to move (they never sent anyone out to look...and their excuse was that "we are in Florida"). It is not my problem if your process is broken. 3. The management and corporate team is ruthless, rude, condescending, demeaning and a down right nasty group of individuals to deal with, before, during and after when attempting to handle this. I was professional and logical in my approach....they were emotional and argumentative. There are 4-5 that I dealt with and each and every one was worse than the next. 4. The driver and support staff that delivered my goods in South Carolina were fantastic. Good group of hard working guys that treated myself and my family with respect. It is the only thing good I saw in the four months of dealing with them. 5. Cannot say the same for the three individuals that picked up my goods in Rochester. At times decent but in general were rude, nasty and made me feel two feet tall and dumb for not knowing that we could not. For example, pack some of our goods in garbage bags (loose items). The general public would have no idea whatsoever of this and they make you feel otherwise. It is just one of many, many scams this company runs and you have no choice but to comply. 6. I will file complaints with the BBB, FTC and various regulatory agencies seeking return of the difference between what I was quoted and what I was charged to get my goods. There are some laws with this as you receive your "rights booklet" when the company shows up (not before) that to certain degree are working against me as Nationwide toes the line very, very closely to ensure that the hurt the customer in the end. They know exactly how to squeeze you for every single dime. 7. This is my favorite part. You are asked to give a date of when you think you will be ready for them to drop your goods off. I picked September 1st and then they have a 14 day window to deliver. They even manipulated this to their benefit and my goods showed up well after this window. It is great not living with 98% of your stuff....they do not care at all about people. 8. The front of their web site states that "the first month of storage is always free". That is a lie....I was charged over 500 dollars for 30 days of storage. Deceptive. Bottom line....find someone else, anyone else, other than this organization.

Nationwide Van Lines

We just moved and used Nationwide Van Lines. This was the worst experience. I think the movers looked for the boxes that said Fragile and bounced them of the concrete. There were so many broken dishes and Glassware. They broke furniture, damaged my walls and even admitted that we may not have everything from storage. They said oh well file a claim. They rushed the delivery and made references to bing hungry. They wanted me o feed them. Then the driver actually asked me to tip the guys. This was a disgrace since I paid a lot of money for this service. They sure cashed the check fast enough. Do not use Nationwide Van Lines!!!!

Nationwide Van Lines = Pissed Consumer

Nationwide Van Lines put on a confront when making my moving reservations. They offered a month of free storage until we got settled in Florida from South Carolina. They picked our belongings up on 8/13. Because our place was not available until 9/17, they charges us 5 days of storage for about $100. Mine you now, a month of storage is $249 with Nationwide Van Lines. What a rip off. Nationwide Van Lines never initiated any of the phone calls when it came close to my delivery date. I have given two finally prices when it came time for delivery. It was 5 days pass my delivery date before our belongings arrived. There was no compensation from they being late. We received busted boxes, broken dishes, even my cherry wood dresser is busted and warped. The driver had the nerve to tell me that it was cheap wood. I will never recommend Nationwide Van Lines to anyone, not even my enemy.

Nationwide Van Lines - Missing and Damaged Items, Company Wont Help

This is my honest review as an unscrupulous victim of a very disreputable moving company called Nationwide Van Lines. Nationwide Van Lines has kept my money for many months after flubbing my move in a big way. Also, if you should happen to have a problem, take my word, they bully you, call you names, and generally harass you, in what I think is an attempt to get you to go away. After signing on to use them, I had a number of problems regarding my move that they would not fix. Furniture was damaged (lacquered wood legs from a table were taped together, furniture was scratched, for example) and a portion of my things (DVD player, 2 laptops, jewelry) were not delivered. I filed a local police report on this. They kept my money despite this and refused to even address my claim when I sent them emails and called them. They refused time after time to refund me in the beginning, but later made multiple promises and vague assurances I would be reimbursed, over the 3 months that followed my move. I guess they hoped I wouldn't notice I didn't get a refund, or that I would give up. I got the feeling that their policy is to put up a front on dissatisfied customers. If they have to refund 2 or 3 of every 10 jobs they ***, then so be it, so long as they don't have to refund all 10. You can really feel that this is their attitude once a problem happens. Before that, they are sweet as pie, just to sucker you in. One point about their reputation; I truly believe that their testimonials on their website are fabricated. Case in point, you cannot post comments directly; they must all be sent via their management who will not post a complaint. As a result they deceive customers with this alluring image of "thousands" of praiseworthy reviews. They sucker in new innocent customers by only having breathtakingly wonderful comments that they probably made up. Please report any issues you have with this company to the Florida Attorney General's Office. There are numerous complaints all over the internet too. Do not let them get away with their dishonesty and bad business practices. Please report them to the Better Business Bureau and any other sites that can help consumers. Please keep and post online all e-mail communication with Nationwide Van Lines and even record your phone calls if it is legal to do so. It will serve as your proof of the disreputable dealings that they have with clients. Hopefully, authorities will go after them and assist customers like me who have had a difficult time.

Upset about the service I received

This is an honest recollection of a moving job received with Nationwide Van Lines. I am upset about the service I received! This company gave me false information on the time it would take to delivery. They told me the delivery would take no more than a few days usually but they just manage to get it in under the deadline they propose in the contract. So I feel they "legally" wait to the very end of the 3 weeks deadline while promising a short time to get the business from me. Now they dont show up when I expect them so this is a problem. After many phone calls and emails to them they finally get the truck to show up with the things. But weeks went by and we had to buy new things for day to day. In this way I feel this company has misused my trust and faith.

Bill Far Exceeded Estimate, Sloppy Work

I am writing to you all after weeks of frustration and aggravation from our moving company. They are Nationwide Van Lines from Plantation Florida. In the past 3 weeks we have been lied to, disregarded, mislead, cheated, deceived, and subjected to one of the more horrible moving experiences I can remember in my 47 years! It all started with a very competitive quote we got for our move. It was well below every other company so we were delighted at the affordability and the potential to save some money (who doesnt love this??). We sent off our money and arranged the date. This is where the multitude of problems began. There were delays, there were promises of timetables which were not kept, and there was very very poor communication. They do not return calls for the most part when something has gone awry! Now to money. They charged us SEVEN TIMES what was estimated. I could not believe the bill. Not only did I not want to pay, I did not have the money to. If I would have known it would cost nearly $5000, I would have not chosen them. I feel so cheated. I had to borrow some money from my family to sort this out. The driver said he would not give me my things if it was not paid in full and he was prepared to leave my house if we didn't pay him immediately. Just a fair warning if you decide to use this company!!

Total Incompetents

Completely pissed off at Nationwide Van Lines! Thanks to pissed consumer.com for giving me a space on the world wide web to air my grief with this moronic company. Where do I begin with this? How about...they flaked on the pick up time for starters. No show with us ready to move. The liars in their office, Rachael and Yaron, two complete *** told us there was a "minor" delay but in the end they were no shows. Next? How about incompetent drivers, true UNPROFESSIONALS, who can't position a truck correctly? Can't back it up? Can't park it on a public street, can't seem to get the stuff in when they do arrive? Issik or Izzik or Itzik or however you spell it was possibly the worst mover I have ever had in my life. Just a total fool with more excuses as to his sloppy and careless work than fingers and toes. More? How about poorly packaged delicates, haphazardly packaged glassware, and poorly packed clothing where expensive sweaters and blouses were thrown in a box with wire hangers casuing rips on multple things? I can't stomach any more of these memories, but trust me, there are plenty more. From being lead down the path of deceit by Gail in their office assuring me of a sterling reputation which ultimately did not exist, to the lies on the phone from Rachael and Yaron about the movers timetables and responsibilities, to the driver who didn't know his head from his you know what...I totally do not recommend this company. In fact, I recommend that you in no way use them. Nationwide Van Lines should be out of business!

Sleeping on the floor

Nation wide van lines SUCK! no one ever use them! they are so darn unorganized they don't even know where their own hands are! NEVER use them! i've had to sit on the floor, eat on the floor, and sleep on the floor for 14 days after they promised our stuff was going to be delivered! Worst experience with any company in my entire life! I would have rather spent the extra money and rented a uhaul and lifted the furniture myself than hired these fools to do it, because i'd atleast have some to sleep on at night!

Nationwide Van Lines was very unprofessional in their work and customer service

If you're thinking about using Nationwide Van Lines, I would strongly advise against it. In my experience, they are not only incompetent at their job, but also their customer support is non-existent. If you are not happy with their service, like we were, they will ignore you. After being directed by their staffer Julianne to check out testimonials and reading thousands of alleged positive reviews on their website and, I decided to use them. It was a mistake. Their movers were unprofessional and coarse making for a very bad experience with regard to our possessions and our sanity. I felt as if I could not rely on them to deliver the boxes in quality conditions because their workers seemed to be unqualified to do the job. I probably would have had better luck getting some college kids to do the job. The move was completed slightly over the time frame they gave us, but there were some questions about minor damage and missing items. My wife wrote to them for support but never got a call or response. (She also complained that it is very difficult to get a hold of anyone). In our last correspondence they ignored my request for at least the courtesy of a response. We got none. Obviously, I am very unhappy and will not recommend this company.

Nationwide Van Lines is holding our stuff hostage

I hope anyone reading this will think twice about using Nationwide Van Lines! We contracted Nationwide Van Lines to do our move from south Florida to Vermont. We had pre-packed all the stuff so we basically just needed them to come by and take the boxes away, to our new home. We had scheduled them for a 11am pickup but they said it would be 9am to 12pm. I took off from work to ensure I'd meet them. Nine comes and goes. 10am, 11am, 12pm, also come and go. I call Rahael at their office and was assured they were on the way and were running 2 hours late. Unfortunately this does me no good because I had to return to work for the afternoon. Now I had to sacrifice a whole extra half day to wait for them. When they showed up finally it was at 330pm. They guys they sent looked totally unprofessional. On their website they display fancy fresh painted trucks and guys in uniforms with the company logo. I got 3 guys in dirty clothes in an unmarked white cube truck. I couldnt have been more disappointed. They packed up our stuff and disappeared. We called the office to make sure the move was going as planned and we got the OK. Our goods were supposed to arrive 1 week later in Vermont. We get to Vermont, wait on the precise day, but there was no delivery. The scheduled date comes and goes. I call the office and was met with a very testy response from the lady there (not sure of her name). She told us delivery was attempted but we had put the wrong address on the moving documents and thats why it was delayed. I checked my copy of the contract and it was totally perfect. I faxed it over and she said she'd investiagte. Later she emails us saying, yes the address was correct, but they had an internal company error and that the delivery would come at any time now. The next day came and nearly went and Nationwide NEVER called back. I called (spoke to Ron) who told me they attempted delivery but nobody was home. Blatant lies! I was there all day for days in a row. I asked where they attempted to delivery to. He could not give me an answer. When I asked where my goods were now, also no answer. I demanded to have a firm answer about my goods in 24 hours or else I'd contact the authorities and file a chargeback with the bank. I got no reply so I filed a chargeback on the amount. Less than two full days alter I get a very angry call from Nationwide (not regarding my moved goods, but my chargeback). They implied I'm a thief, asking why did I dispute the charge, etc....when all along my stuff is missing without any reason or explanation from the company! The lady tells me in a matter of fact way that the goods are being "held" in Florida in their storage, pending payment. I told her I just disputed the transaction less than 48 hrs ago, because the stuff never arrived. How did it already get from Vermont to Florida in less than 2 days? She said the procedure is to immediately return the items to the shipping origin if payment is charged back. I truly believe this is a bold faced lie. Two phantom delivery attempts and address confusion on THEIR part, and now, magically, the goods are back in Florida? No way. Either they messed up the move and never sent it, or planned all along to get more money out of me for a "second" move. They insist I need to resend payment for delivery to happen plus an additional fee since it is, what they call, a second delivery. I told them I'll see them face to face in Florida. I plan to fly back to Florida to get my goods out. I will go with my lawyer and will contact the local sheriff if they do not release my stuff. I have never had a worse experience with a moving company or any business for that matter, but the Israeli team here (Ron, Rachael, etc) cannot be trusted in my opinion.
