Truth about NationStar

Nation Star is nothing more than a call center, similar to an online college, one is not dealing with the real deal when calling in to this "mortgage service". One would think that the person they are speaking to about their mortgage , something that is very important, is that the person should be educated enough to be able to understand the mortgage lingo or at least have a script that allows the representative to sound some what like a employee with enough smarts to be able to review a mortgage account. Also, the point of contact NEVER answers their phone or give a call back, and this company will continue to charge ones checking account when you have made it clear that it is a one time payment and not an open piggy bank for them to dip in and out whenever they feel the need to leap.

Paid RE tax for wrong parcel, would not admit mistake, kept stonewalling and lying

1 Company has records of property and parcel numbers. 2 Just to make sure, I sent an email in early November reminding them that there were two parcels for the loan, giving parcel numbers and legal descriptions. 3 On 24 Nov. company paid tax for one correct parcel and one totally incorrect parcel, claimed my escrow account was now negative by $1500 4. Got a big runaround when I notified company of error the day after the charge showed up. 5 Company did not follow up with county, it took several phone calls on different days for me to connect with someone who would do something. We did a joint call to the County, learned that it would take the county some time to refund the money. 6. Disgusted with company I paid off my loan on 30 December. Company still owed me my $1500. 7 Around 20 Jan I called to ask where my money was. I was told that I had to wait till they got the money back from the county. I said this was *** they knew they had screwed up and I was now paying for their mistakes in the first place. I escalated my complaint and was told that the company admitted they had indeed screwed up and they would send me the money immediately via FedEx. THIS WAS A LIE 8 Today, 29 Jan, I recived a letter saying that they had received funds from the County and were sending me a check by Fed Ex which should arrive sometime next week. I am not holding my breath.

To save others from the issues we have had.

Our loan is currently with Mr. Cooper (Nationstar). In early October 2020, we called to ask about the possibility of refinancing (with a cash out) of our mortgage. We were on the phone with the loan officer for over 2 hours providing information on ourselves and financial information. We wanted to do a 15 year refinance. They would only do a 30 year term at a higher interest rate than we currently have. Because the benefit of paying off credit card debt, we decided to move forward with the refinance. A few days later, we were informed that they could now do a 15 year refinance (at 2.5%) so we said yes. A few weeks later, we were told that they could still do a 15 year note but now at a higher interest rate. Ok... we just want it done. Here we are, two months later. We are expecting to finally go to closing. As I am reviewing my file online, I notice that some paperwork we sent was not accepted. We call the loan officer again. Now they can't do the 15 year refi and offer a 20 year (at a higher rate). I come to find out that because I am self employed, they will not consider my income (discrimination?), only my wife's. We told them what her income was. We provided pay stubs. We disclosed that she was a teacher and her payment schedule was for 10 months. They still calculated it as 12 months and told us that she actually made more than she does. When they did the employment verification, they finally understood that they overestimated her income. Now we are waiting again. We have high credit scores and a 100% on-time payment history. It should not be this difficult for a company to correctly process our loan. Our next door neighbors refinanced their mortgage 3 weeks after we submitted our application. They closed in less than 30 days. We are at 2 months with no end in sight. Hard to believe that a large mortgage company like this is so clueless and can't get their work done timely and accurately.

Old technology and business processes and worst Customer Service

Original review Nov 15, 2020
Mr. Cooper purchased my mortgage from Quicken Loans, and the experience has been nothing short of a nightmare. I have always paid my mortgage bi-weekly. That is a foreign concept to this company who, even if you are paid ahead by the normal monthly payment, they have hoops and forms and voided checks to jump through (1990's called and wants its business processes back) and you actually have to get two months paid ahead for them to even consider. Customer Service is awful and they just pawn you off. Welcome letter from Jay Bray, CEO says "I have great news! Your mortgage has been assumed by Mr. Cooper!" He is a liar. That news was awful and it's been awful ever since. I tried to contact the company to share my experience being so awful and complicated and I was completely dismissed.

Negative report to Credit Bureau

Your company has the Mortgage for 2207 Forest Home Avenue, Riverside, OH 45404, Acct. No. 060676****. You changed your name from Loancare to Nationstar. During that time your company had everyone's payments screwed up. I called your company and talked, first, to Derrick, second, to Raycene, No. 426****. I was assured that the late fee of $15.79 would be removed as this was Nationstar's problem and not mine. A loan company called to offer me a VA Loan, and, looking at my credit Bureau's reports, said I was late on a payment to Nationstar. I talked, once again, to Raycene, who said they received a payment for $929.84 on or about July 24, 2017. It was reiterated, once again, that the late fee would be removed and not show up on my account as delinquent. Your company changing names is your problem, not mine. The new Loan Company indicated that if you were to report a favorable account to the Credit Bureau's, they would look, once again, at a new VA Loan. I have a near perfect Credit Score, and, ALWAYS, pay my bills. If I am forced to drop Nationstar/LoanCare as the Mortgage Company for 2207 Forest Home Ave., I will do so. I expect to see prompt action to this request with no problems within the next 20 days, or, I will pay off this loan and your company will have a bad name with my Landlord Association here in Dayton, OH. Thanks, Wade Browning, 937-361-****

No recommendation - ever!

This is a very long detailed history. I, have, to date, still been dealing with CT Attorney General, CT Dept. of Banking, CT Consumer Complaints, HUD - Dr. Carson, Sen. Rubio, Sen. Murphy, FBI(New Haven, CT Office), several attorneys in CT, consumer groups, Superior Court - CT assistance in foreclosures - just to name a few agencies. Let me start with this horrific, nightmare in CT - the state that only focuses on ridiculous matters. My story begins: In 2007 my husband took out a reverse mortgage. Shortly after, he was diagnosed with Bells Palsy. (It was later confirmed that he had stage 4 parotid cancer - he was misdiagnosed. Later, tried to get a suit going for malpractice but difficult for an attorney to get a doctor to say so, but evidence was clear. Two of those doctors have died.) My husband was 14 years older than me. In August of 2013, I applied for a loan to modify my home to bring him home from the hospital. Champion (became Nationstar) letter began calling and demanding certain information to which I complied in a timely manner regarding his residency, etc., and to date I still am baffled as to why they were constantly barraging me with calls. The taxes, homeowners insurance were all up to date, plus the house had been renovated before the reverse mortgage and after with valid(not backyard contractors) state licensed contractors...In August 2013 on my way to see him at the hospital, I was broad sided and injured by an illegal alien. I had surgery and also was harassed by the hospital billing department for just a few outstanding bills. In October 2013, my husband passed away from aspirational pneumonia. I saw him die. He died October 29, 2013, and buried Nov. 1, 2013. Champion started with their foreclosure notices. My husband had a will. I had to pay CT and Federal thousands of dollars and also a probate attorney. In February my pregnant daughter's son was very ill and I had to try to help her. During that time, I went back to the house with a couple that I knew to help me up the long hill to the porch. My keys didn't work. There were notices on the front door. Someone had put notices on the inside door. I went to the back door. There was a lockbox and I couldn't get in. I called my then attorney who finally answered with "Oh, what a mess." I discharged him. Probate had not made me executrix until March 2014. My name was not on the house because at the time my husband took out the mortgage I was not old enough to have my name placed on the mortgage. When I was alone with my husband in the hospital I contracted a security company to safeguard me and the house while I was going back and forth. Also had ADT alarm, all current at the time the locks were changed. I finally was able to get a lawyer who knew how to get me back in the house after Champion/Nationstar pretended they knew nothing about the house. On April 15, 2014, 7:30 p.m. I was able to gain entry. Things were missing and somebody had put foreclosure papers in the front door facing outward. So some one was in the house, dated April 14, 2014. My papers were in the house and I had to file my taxes late. When talking to a heavily accent man who said to me to pay my taxes, that all he hears is a story. I went to the police department, filed a report. I also had been hospitalized due to stress. My attorney filed papers. Lots of back and forth. Nationstar lied that allonges were signed when in fact they were not. The judge dismissed due to lack of diligence. Fast forward - In 2017, Nationstar refiled. Because of my finances being depleted, I had no alternative but to do pro se. They did a sloppy job, had attorneys put someone else's name on the appraisal, had the wrong number of the street, lied to the judge that they had filed a motion to lift a stay of bankruptcy. I filed for bankruptcy due to all the surmounting bills I incurred. The attorney for Nationstar/Champion intentionally lied that a federal judge had granted them a motion. I brought it up in court to no avail to the judge. They foreclosed, sold the house for pennies. It hurts. Hurts very much. I found an attorney who seemed interested in taking my case. It was on a Friday, drove miles to Bristol to meet with him. He never mentioned that he was handling two foreclosure auctions the very next day on Saturday that he was appointed committee for these auctions. I felt sick when I found this out through the internet. This attorney had the nerve, the unmitigated gall to reach out to me to like him on facebook! Atty. Hassan. Attorneys have taken my money for consultation fees and have done nothing. The aforementioned parties in the beginning all know of this as to all the voluminous detailed documents I have sent them. The reason I had to get a security firm because the police department in Bridgeport, CT said they were busy and could I get a neighbor or relative to watch the house when I wasn't there. Is there no justice for the people who are still alive to talk of the criminal foreclosures that have gone on, particularly in Connecticut and the crooked lawyers coming to court to take homes away? Saw some lawyers laughing before court making comments about people paying their bills so they wouldn't have to be in court. This was on the day the judge was hearing over 120 cases, yes 120 cases that day. There is no way that this judge never made a mistake with that many cases. When you get older, many of us do not get smarter. I truly believe that this foreclosure mess primarily targeted those who did not have the resources or knowledge to fight them. Where is the justice and what happened to all those people such as myself? Doesn't anyone care to know? The only persons that got back to me was Sen. Rubio, who referred my letter to Sen. Murphy. Then Murphy's advocate tried, then left. Then it was passed to a person very unknowledgeable who kept sending me papers for foreclosure mediation or classes on reverse mortgage no matter how many times I told her what the disposition of the case was at the time. They had unlicensed people changing locks, putting up foreclosure signs, appraiser who has been arrested in the past for attempted murder, all kinds of negative, scary people drooling over this house.

Not at all!!!

I've refinanced and my loan was sold to Nationstar Mortgage. Initially, I set my account up so they can withdraw the funds from my credit union. The first one was done with no problems. I enquired about doing bi-weekly, as I've done this successfully with other mortgage companies. I was told I had to pay 1 month in advance to set up the bi-weekly; fill out some forms and send in a blank check. I do not have checks, have not had them since day 1! I was told I could have the bank send the information on letter head. The Credit Union sent a letter addressed to me on bank letterhead, outlining the information they needed to have. They are rejecting it and not giving a reason! In all my years of dealing with mortgage companies, this is the most insane thing I've come across and I'm very annoyed. I need to get a reason why the letter head is being rejected and there is none. This doesn't sit well with me at all.

A very bad response from many agents at Mr cooper with no help

this mess started from 2011 on a escrow account. that went unpaid for 7 years and in 2017 I received a tax statement and notice that I was charged 2 times with property tax, I called Mr cooper and ask why there were two charges for property tax and they said I never paid for the 2011 property tax which was untrue. The 2011 tax for the property tax in 2011 was taken from my mortgage account and put into escrow account and in 2011 Nation Star paid the property to the williamson county tax office and to the Round Rock school, but in 2012 Nationstar sent the tax offices asking for them to refund the money. It's a very long and complicated story and I have been trying to get this resolved for 3 years now and have been lied over and over about this situation and as of today it has not been resolved I would certanily like for someone to call me about this as I am getting no where with these agents and each one tells a different story. I have consider to get a attorney but I would like to resolved this If I can Please call I work 5;00 am to 4:00 PM and I need help This situation on my late Mortgage started this year in April when the Mortgage payment was raised up alot and it was a surprise to me as I was told they were going to exempt me as they had done the year before They have raise the payment in 2017, 2018, 2019 because of shortage in the escrow caused by Nation Star by not paying the tax to the tax office and Mr Cooper found on the internet it show 2011 tax deliquent and they took the money from escrow and paid the tax office plus interest in 2017 and also paid the 2107 tax owe for 2017 which was about 10,000 and it caused a major shortage in escrow and I am paying for what they did with along with other issues that occured on my Mortgage loan , Please call so I can discuss this with you,, I can be reached arounf 4:00 P M Thank you, Doris Dickerson 737-212-**** dodiesue2@***l,com

Futille. Dont waste your time to try and get an issue resolved.

My loan was with Seterus I was very happy until they sold my loan to Mr Cooper. I immediately created an email account to debit my payment. First month I noticed payment hadnt been deducte. I call Mr Cooper. Agent said my bank seclined the payment which was now past the 15 days time frame (Seterus was 30 days) They added on a late fee. I sent them copy of bank statement with adequate balance and no deduction and inquired as to what went wrong. Turned out Seterus had sent notice to bank to cancel the auto pay. Mr Morgan payment was same amount so bank computer system rejected the debit. I immediately made the payment and asked that the late fee be removed since I had followed all of Mr Coopers instructions to set up auto pay and had sufficient funds in bank. They refused. My bank said if Mr Cooper would make their auto pay one penny different it would go thru. Mr Cooper refused. I had to make trip to bank to fix. And, I had made contact with Mr Cooper to ask why it wasnt debited on the 16th day. Absolutely no interest in customer, agents have no power to correct or adjust Night and Day opposite of Seterus. I truly think it is absurd that My Mortgage can be sold and transerred without any approval from me. And all I get weekly are advertisements for their services. It is a miserable operation.

This company sucks

Mr cooper took over my loan several years ago. My mortgage was 691.19 for 20 years 240 payment. After that it was due to be paid off. Some how I had a balance left of 13,000. Researched for 9 months. Spoke with 90 representatives got a different answer each time. You owe 1 pc compound daily in the outstanding balance. No one would help just kept receiving that generic letter. Most incompetent company ever. Didn’t owe but paid them the full balance. They jacked my regular mortgage up with escrow & taxes which I pay directly to the county along with my house insurance. Wanted them to research but they had no one component enough to come up why I owe that. I have paid my loan in full now they need to get there figures straight. They owe me a refund. Wanted to see what they would offer on the balance my god it was going to be 560.40 for another 25 years this was a trailer not a million dollar home. Talk about sticking it they did. I hope they enjoy that money I didn’t owe. I also received papers in the mail like they was getting ready to sale it and the last payment wasn’t due until September. If you come across this company run. They don’t want to help they want you to to stay in debt. Be ashamed

Tried to buy a house, with cash, offered, countered AND rejected!! THEY REJECTED THEIR OWN COUNTER OFFER!!!

I will try to shorten this story. Like all the other reviews here, this company is a disaster. This house has been on the market for over 300 days. Short sale. The house was listed at $55,000, the realtor thought the bank would take $40,000 cash, and they would not have to fix anything. We offered just that. A week, then two weeks went by. Our realtor called theirs. He called the bank. THEY LOST THE PAPERWORK. We resubmitted it. Another 3 weeks. NOW THEY WANT A NEW APPRAISAL. Two more weeks. It comes back at $53,000. Our realtor calls theirs. He has to call the bank and ask "So, what does this mean? Are you countering??? Rejecting? or Accepting?" FINALLY... THEY SAY THEY NEED 70% OF THE APPRAISED VALUE. WE ACCEPT. $43,680. The title company and realtors set up the paperwork to close. Give us a closing date...no time set. They are waiting on the bank for the final numbers, due to taxes...whatever. WE WAIT....NO WORD. WE HAVE NOW CASHED OUT THE MONEY IN THE MARKET TO PAY FOR THIS. MARKET IS GROWING...OUR MONEY IS SITTING...THREE MORE WEEKS. Our realtor calls again...the listing realtor calls bank. THEY HAVE REJECTED OUR ACCEPTANCE OF THEIR COUNTER !?!?!? ARE YOU KIDDING ME???? Seriously...I believe this company is not really a mortgage company. I think it is a front for some kind of illegal activity. No legit company works like this. LESSON LEARNED, WORK WITH ONLY LOCALS YOU KNOW. THIS SO CALLED COMPANY SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED. I feel sorry for the poor realtors that worked so hard for us.
