HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE - DID NOT SHOW

Contracted NCM to clean chimney from their advertisement in the newspaper. Agreed on time of service for following week from 8-11am. No show, never got call about running late. Called at 12pm for update, said she would see where the service tech was, and once again no call back. I then called to get update, was pretty much told to find someone else and they had no updates or ETA. Cost me one day of PTO. DO NOT USE, horrible service.....1-80*-631-**** is their number AVOID THEM. This company has other horrible reviews if you look online. Not worth calling.

Dishonest period

Charged me $588 to replace chimney cap which did not need replacing. They replaced existing black cap with a silver one that did not even match in size. They said they would return to put in a damper on the fireplace chimney and never returned. I called several times and got nowhere. Stay away from this company. They took advantage of me cause I am not going up on the roof to inspect what they claim and they knew that. Be aware of this companies business practice they do not have customers in mind only making money. Every time I look at my roof I get reminded how I got ripped off.

Rip Off

The job was ver priced, they only itemized the cost, they did not give total before getting approval from customer to start. Worked for 1/2 hour and charged $500, they only put in about $100 - $150 worth of product. I tried to use a coupon that came in the mail and it was refused. They came in and put up their ladders and started fast talking and high pressure. They gave the illusion of a big dicounts and special treatment, and when they were finished in such a short time, I realized that I was scammed. Do not use.

Busted gutter and chimney cap

I also had a bad experience with Tom from National Chimney. They came out to clean my chimney and wound up busting my gutter when the fat lard tried to get up on my second level roof. Then the *** broke my chimney cap. I noticed it hanging on by only 1 of the 4 corners later that evening. It began to rain so I had to pull my ladder out, climb two roofs and found that 3 of the corners were busted. The chimney guy never screwed those corners back on. I called Tom to complain and he said that he'd give me my money back but never received anything. They didn't even clean out the ash dump.... Stay away from these guys.

Rip off

I hired national chimney inc to repair my chimney. The worker informed me of the problems with my chimney (cracked crock and chimney with cracks. They day of inspection they stated that they could fix it today and they had all the materials on the truck. I was very anxious to use my wood burning stove for the winter so I agreed to the work to be done. They lined my chimney with metal tubing and applied a large amount of cement to the crock area. They applied so much cement to the crock area and stove pipe that it looked like my 3 year daughter had applied it. My questioned the way the crock area looked, it was informed to paint the cement. After using my stove twice all the cement cracked and fell off. I contacted the company on three occassions regarding the problem. I never received a call back. I only got a person on the phone once. The person on the phone stated that he owner would call me back, which never happened. I hired a new company to repair and inspect the work that national chimney had done. The repairs were done incorrectly. The chimney needed to be insulted around the pipe which they installed, the crock area needed to be totally redone/replaced. The work they had performed could of caused a fire in my home. I will be taking this company to small claims court and reporting the to the BBB. I would never recommend this company to perform any time of repair unless you want your home to burn down. Do yourself a favor and do your research first.

National Chimney & Masonry - CROOKS

National Chimney & Masonry 266 Radio Avenue Miller Place, NY 11764 Tom Casey - Owner National Chimney & Masonry was contracted to clean the chimney of my primary residence. The employee informed me that the chimney was deteriorated and posed a dangerous situation, and recommended that we have a stainless steel liner installed. He told her that he had the necessary equipment on the truck and could do the installation that day, for which National Chimney charged us $1,100 for. Later that evening I inspected the job and found that the installer did not completely seal the smoke pipe leading from the furnace and hot water heater to the chimney. When I called and spoke with a National Chimney representative, they agreed to come back and fix the problem a few days later. I took time off from work to meet the installer who did not show up for the scheduled appointment. I repeatedly called the office and left messages on the company's answering machine which were not returned. I finally got a representative on the phone who told me that they "stopped by" my home on five occasions without calling, but found nobody home. The representative rescheduled my appointment for later in the week, and once again I took time from work and waited for the installer who did not show up. After two weeks of phone calls and ignored messages, my family and I returned home on Thanksgiving evening to find our basement filled with smoke and soot. I placed a late night emergency call to Kiel Oil, who came and discovered that when National Chimney & Masonry installed the new smoke pipe, they incorrectly sealed the pipe with an excessive amount of cement, which fell into the chimney opening and completely sealed it off. They also noted that the size of the new insert seemed to be too small for the chimney and recommended that I call in another chimney service to inspect the work. I scheduled Chimney Pros of Wayne, to come to my house on December 1 to inspect the job. Their findings were as follows:  A 5 inch insert was placed into a 7 inch chimney opening which was not only against code, but was not large enough to support the existing oil burning furnace and gas hot water heater. This caused a backup of smoke and soot which clogged the furnace and the insert.  The installer ran the hot water heater smoke pipe directly into the wall, instead of using the proper "T" connection outside of the wall, which is against code.  When the hot water heater was installed in the wall, the installer cut into the stainless steel insert, instead of using a "T" connection, invalidating the lifetime warranty on the insert.  Two new chimney caps were installed, one of which was the incorrect size for the chimney opening.  Inspection of the top of the chimney showed that furnace cement was used to seal the new insert in place. Cardboard was packed around the insert pipe to keep it in place while the cement dried, which is not only against code, but caused an extremely dangerous fire hazard in the chimney.  Inspection of the top eight feet of the chimney showed only normal wear and tear, a condition in which an insert is not recommended by a reputable chimney cleaning company. Once again, repeated calls to the company and messages left have been ignored. Since I was told by the National employee that the company's phone and answering system are located in the franchise owner's home, I can only assume at this point that legal action is required to remedy this situation. It was also noted by the National Chimney installer that their representative had been lying to me when she told me that they had stopped by five times, since he had not heard of the problems until a day or two earlier. National Chimney caused two potentially deadly situations in my home with their incompetent installation of a chimney insert. By sealing off the pipe that removes smoke from my oil furnace and gas water heater and then packing flammable cardboard around the steel insert that is connected to the furnace, they have proven that they are a company that is not only fraudulent, but also dangerous to their customers. I sued in NJ Small Claims Court. The judge ruled it a clear case of consumer fraud and awarded me triple my judgement. Big surprise, unable to collect from this ***....
