Awful scam of a pageant

$550 entry fee is the bottom line needed to win. All you need is formal wear, interview and an intro and you can be a winner NOT! The more optional aka $100 or more pageants you enter, the more chances of winning. Not what they advertised! The girls that one spent 1,000s on these optional pageants. Disgusting

Scam and all centered around money

pronounced names wrong , racist, centered around money, have to enter a bunch of additional pageants to even win

Too biased and woke

My friends daughter entered this dumb competition. She was one of the most prepared and beautiful contestants, however, the selection of winners was politically correct. A bald girl won. Nothing against her personally but isnt this about beauty? No overweight or bald woman should wins beauty pageant. Period. Dont waist your time and money and subject your daughter or self to Thai torture and stay clear

Contestant

They are great at the selling of their dream pageant opportunity , but dont let that fool you. Your fee only is a slot as a contestant. $550 later, they ask $35 per shirt that is required for their performance, that they claim they will teach. The lesson is in a group setting, shown once and then your girl will practice one time, and a video link is provided for you to learn on your own time. Only to find out they switched it the day of the pageant. Im not sure how they build up girls, when the staff is extremely rude, snatches credit cards from parents hand, and no one ever knows whats going on. The disorganisation is ridiculous. Ive been looking for staff for several hours and its rare to come by anyone but but the rude cashier in the NAM store. Explains why only a few out 100 girls returned from last years competition. When asked why the NAM discounts werent applied to the Hyatt hotel, they said I dont know, were still figuring it out day 3 into this event, and I doubt we will return. Lets see what selling point theyre going to pitch tonight during the finale.

Scammed $300 and canceled pageant the same day.

We entered this pageant and then COVID happened, it was postponed and eventually canceled. The issue was the very day they canceled the pageant my daughter paid for the talent portion. I believe this was $300. They accepted payment knowing the pageant would be canceled. She was a full time college student working full time making minimum wage. $300 for her was a lot of money. They refused to refund that $300, knowing they stole it from a girl who couldn't afford $300 easily. Knowing they were getting ready to send out an announcement that the pageant was canceled. The announcement was literally sent out within the hour of her payment. They should have never still been accepting payments if they were unsure if the pageant was going to happen

Received a letter

I Do not have a daughter. Received a letter stating that my daughter has been selected as a possible candidate.who may enjoy acting modeling or learning stage techniques and that she is eligible to complete in this years pageant. Ok thats great but she does not exist!!! Is this a scam? Are they trying to traffic my nonexistent daughter. Just curious.

Absolute, definite scam

Definite scam. My proof. We got the same letter. We don't even have a daughter. Three different unrelated adults at this address. Not even one has ANY child. Addressed to each of us by official, proper first and last legal names. They didn't do their homework well. There's no way this isn't a scam if they get so bold to send it in this manner. That said, its completely sad that ANY parent of a daughter believes pageants are healthy, so much so that they're willing to get scammed. Or leave it to god when we know that the one thing 3000 gods have in common is a dislike for vanity. Beware, OKC metro residents. Looks like we're up soon for a visit.

Received a letter inviting our daughter to participate.

My question is which daughter are you referring to? I have three. Triplets, actually. Does the fact that they are 26 years old disqualify them from participating? How about the fact that they do not nor have they ever lived in the state of Georgia. I only moved here myself a year ago. What about their sexual orientation? Two are bi- sexual and the other is Pan. Two are in same sex committed relationships while the third is soon to be engaged to her boyfriend. Does being engaged to be married disqualify her from participating?? I think perhaps if you are going to be sending these letters out to parents you should, at the very least, be sending them to parents of kids still living WITH their parents and UNDER the age of 18!!!

Terrible pageant system

Ignored after signing up. No papers nothing. Emails not returned. So I pulled my child from the pageant due to unprofessionalism and non communication. Her friends are all getting ready, and my child has been ignored as well as myself. This pageant does not promote confidence in girls it breaks them down imo. Sad. Now I have a rep texting me all day even at 930pm to "explain what the error was" and refuses to explain Anthing via email in writing as I've requested.

Refused refund knowing a pageant was canceled when they accepted the payment

My daughter's pageant was canceled last year due to Covid. They refused a refund, including the talent fee that she paid several hours before they canceled the pageant. NAM knew that a decision was being made that day, they didn't inform her of that, instead they greedily took her money. They took money knowing that the pageant was most likely not taking place, money from a working college student. Disgusting greedy organization that should be shut down. 0 stars would be more appropriate.

False Advertisement

My old response, and it still stands: I have done it before for years. I would say RUN, unless you want to do it for the sake of gaining quick skills and self-confidence, but, however, self-confidence can break if you don't put a lot of money into it! It's all about the money with little effort in rewards - $1000 prizes and little to no scholarships (With pros: a plus - good skills in return. Just mentioned that.). Also, there's bad customer service and a bad experience if you do not bring much money, literally. Don't believe me? I'm not encouraging you to do that, but when this does happen, as a result, the director will give you a look of misery without a greeting or a smile throughout the whole pageant week, or weekend (especially, if there are lesser contestants), including unnecessary remarks or shadiness to you or your child directly in person, or indirectly on stage in front of an audience. The system will make sure you have a bad experience just to scold you away and never come back. This can and is shown either through the judges or staff members just to humiliate, not choose, or not give anything to the contestant for entertainment value. It is a political agenda over a merit system. They care about money, not your child, nor you, without at least having the upmost respect and human decency like other pageant systems. Judges uses simple-surfaced questions while never getting to know the contestants — at least 7 judges, one minute each. People can lie about themselves and still win! RUN. Also, to the contestants of teen division, beware because when the girls feel competition there's a possibility of experiencing a negative tension in the air, similar to how NAM responds to contestants who do not bring enough cash into the system. Show kindness to each other girls because you may not know - this could be your experience, and you could be next (but, who knows? Maybe NAM would improve.) . How to win a good experience, or a crown for NAM — one answer: $$$. Literally. Forgot to mention: No refunds. Estimate loss : thousands $ over the years (experience for final year: /5)

Money Sucker

Where do I begin... years ago, I held a state queen title for NAM but I was young and didnt realize how much money went into it. Fast forward to this year: because of COVID I decided to compete in their virtual appointed representative program as it was only $40 to enter. Aware of the sponsorship fees, I asked during my interview if Id have to pay that for nationals since I would not receive the $1000 scholarship that the winners of live pageants do. The judge said no. I was later notified that I had won, and during the zoom meeting was told that Id have to pay the $950 sponsorship fee by July 20th. I am a college student and cannot drop $1000 for just a crown and banner. I have also competed in another system where the max amount is $100 in DONATIONS. Yes, it goes to charity rather than into the program. Anyways, after calculating costs and realizing it would cost me around $4000 to compete in this pageant, I resigned, and let me just say that the director was VERY immature about it. NAM will not get any more of my money!

Greedy company

This company will not give refunds even though there is a GLOBAL PANDEMIC going on. I pulled my daughter out due to a family member with weakened immune system and they will not refund. Told me I could send her next year?!?!?! Why would I do that when they obviously only care about making money and not these young girls or their families. Pure TRASH

Request a refund

We are going through a pandemic with Covid-19. I understand if a request fir the refund was not able to be done during normal routine, however our jobs are on the line and when things get back to normalcy we still have to catch up on missed time from work. We were told we could not get a refund not even a partial. We were told it would be transferred to next year pageant, and I informed them I do not want my daughter representing any kind of pageant that can't or will not consider the safety or well being of others.
