Destruction of my furniture

Updated by user May 05, 2023
NEVER. You must be joking.

This has cost me thousands of dollars and wasted a lot of my time. I also called U Pack to share with them the experience I had with your firm as they recommended you in the first place.

Original review May 04, 2023
The movers called 30 minutes before the scheduled time stating "family emergency" & requesting he come several hours later. I politely but firmly shared this was a problem due to the commitment time of trailer pickup. He arrived shortly before the end of the loading window. At the other end, my different movers found EVERY piece of furniture with some damage, & a few totally destroyed. A heavy wood and steel coffee table were mangled & broken. Two chairs, one love seat, & a large sectional ALL had poked holes in the fabrique and/or large dirty stains. The sectional will need to be thrown away. It was such a complete damage that I suspect it was intentional. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY. Shame shame shame on the owners & this deceitful company.

Horrible Service

Original review Nov 04, 2022
Quite honestly, everything went wrong from start to finish. Our scheduled time got amended and changed to a time that did not work nearly as well. Our delivery crew was late from that time having already come from one moving job that morning. It was a hot day and they were understandably tired already as a result. They damaged our wooden bannister for our stairs within ten minutes of being at our house. They attempted to bill us for more time than they actually worked (not including the several breaks that they stayed on the clock), and we had to go back to our doorbell camera to verify when they arrived and when they left. Finally, the process by which to get our damage fixed has been incredibly difficult. In short, I would not ever use this service again and would recommend to anyone in the strongest possible terms to stay as far away as possible. Edit --- after more than one month, the company has still not bothered to contact me or discuss this. Proving once more, it is a company that you do not want to engage in any business with. They truly do not care about you as a customer.

Moving Staffers Bait and Switch Masters

Called me at 3PM on Saturday afternoon to tell me my movers weren't coming as scheduled on Tuesday. However, I could use their sister company, for the double the amount I was quoted. See you in Court, Moving Staffers. Small Claims in my State...you won't show I will win and get a court order for damages than repo one of your sites.

Canceled on moving day, won’t return calls

Moving is stressful. You may think youre paying top dollar to mitigate your risks. Not with these folks. Went with them because U Pack seems to partner with them. Had not received any follow up from the local provider, so called them early morning day of. They said theyd get back to me in an hour. They never did, and repeated attempts at calling them led to being hung up on. Had to book someone else last minute. They still charged my credit card. I will let the bank handle that.

They broke our signed contact

Got a call a couple days before my stressful upcoming move that they are no longer available despite our signed agreement and payment. Signed my contract and now they left me out to dry. I am so flustered, angry, and confused. So unprofessional and disappointing. Will never give them my business and will never recommend.

MOVING STAFFERS SCAM WARNING

These are the worst of the worst. Moving is no longer about the service of getting your things from place to place. Moving is now an organized crime and the person who wants to move, is literally a moving target, 100% of the time. Our move with Moving Staffers - they sent sick and impaired day laborers without experience, untrained and unable to safely perform our move. They've damaged our home, destroyed our furniture and belongings, they left the job unfinished after attempting to coerce me to give them cash. I told them I didn't have any cash, then they hijacked our move. They ransacked my place and dumped everything, left tables upside down and dressers on their sides, the hardware we had was thrown away. They took off with some very expensive medical stuff. Things I had saved for years to be able to buy. I'll never be able to replace. The results to my complaint...,"There's nothing I can do." At this point, this experience has been a very brutal attack. I spent 20K on the move, We lost belongings to their carelessness and to their theft. They, in turn, left us in utter shock, our lives have been seriously impacted. I'm having nightmares and woke screaming and was afraid the movers were in the house again. Our belongings were damaged, destroyed and some stolen. So much went on - theres only so much space here. I had to give at least one star to be able to post but would give negative numbers if I could. Our experience is that Moving Staffers is not a legitimate moving company, these are criminals involved in the organized crime, and should be in prison, not going door to door.

Furniture damage

The guys were nice but rough with the furniture. Furniture arrived with gouges in the wood & many scratches.

Furniture arrived very scratched

DWe had Moving Staffer move our Colorado furniture into a Pod. They were nice but you could tell inexperienced in the way they handled the furniture. When the Pod arrived in Tucson and they came to unpack there were 2 movers. Nice but when we started examining the furniture we found a lot of dents, scratches, wood gouged out. Ill never use Pod or Moving Staffers again. As expensive as a professional moving truck. Pod gouging is another issue!

Pissed off

horrible truck packing causing unthinkable damage. The lead man stayed in the truck and when I went into the house he would steal my property and put it in his pick up truck bed. The company didnot offer insurance and did not help in any way. Moving Staffers

BUYER BE WARNED

I was moving Atlanta to Los Angeles using U-Pack. I am single, so I utilized their moving staffers offer to pack my container. Two big guys arrived, talked like they were old pros and packed my storage. It was a total disaster. I could have hired guys from a parking lot at LOWES and gotten more craft and care. Everything haphazardly thrown in, the ties and blankets they suggested I supply not even used, just thrown on top, nothing secured, the back part of the container packed to the ceiling with space at the front so everything tumbled everywhere. Total disaster. I can't stress enough, DO NOT HIRE THESE PEOPLE.

Worthless company

They were recommended from UPACK. The origin packers did an awful job of packing and I have over $1000 in damages, they only offered a $100. The destination un-packers kept saying this and that were broke but didn't annotate on their sheet. We are hosed! Stay Away.

Update

MS did eventually offer an additional $200 claim money when they became aware of my posts here and on their FB page. While it helps, what i and many others who've used them really want is a change in the corporate culture that doesn't just settle for poor performance.

Post Move Evaluation

Recently used this company. The loading crew stuffed antique furniture and a new dining set in against metal objects. The two "crew" who showed up came with exactly 4 blankets. Dont assume the basic insurance coverage for damage is sufficient--at $.60 per pound, it isn't. We got $120 back on a new dining set valued at $500 and $244 total on damage to the whole load of over $1100. Better yet, avoid this company altogether. Their communication is poor. They sent out a crew of 6 to unload one container. And they subcontract with clowns and then shirk the responsibility. The customer gets stuck with the bill.

I would not recommend using PODS to move furniture. This was our first and last time.

Staffers themselves were very nice; however, the way items were packed caused damage and scratches to several items. Wrapping furniture in paper does not protect the items like blankets do. This was ourW first and last time we would use this company.

Worst packing and moving experience ever!

I hired Moving Staffers in July 2018 to pack my home and move me across the state. They sent Starving Artists out of Lawrence, KS to pack and load. They had a different company at the other end to unload. I had no problems with the unloading, but the packing and loading were a nightmare! The guys from Starving Artists were great guys, but the absolute worst packers I have ever had in any of my long distance moves. Glass shelves from china cabinet wrapped in cardboard with one end exposed. Needless to say, they were all broken. MANY items with pieces that go with them not packed together: TV without the electric cord; electric tea pot without the corded base. A year later and I still have not found those pieces. Matching items separated into different boxes; again, have not found the matches. These are just a few of many examples. Broken cabinet, dented and scratched appliances...two of which were brand new. Boxes not labeled correctly...MANY of those. There was no organization or logic whatsoever to the packing. They did not keep accurate record of the packing supplies needed or used. They didn't bring enough packing supplies. I cannot count the number of things I have not been able to find, missing pieces, etc.. Movers should never just assume that all boxes will be unpacked immediately so that where things are packed should not matter; mine have not been. The absolute worse experience I have ever had. I recommend paying a little extra for a major professional moving company, which is what I have done in the past. I paid Moving Staffers an additional $400 (approx.) for full insurance, which I ended up needing. However, when I spoke with a rep after the move, I was told I had 90 days from the day I filed a claim to submit the claim. Because I was unpacking slowly, due to being an older single woman with physical limitations, I needed the full amount of time allotted in order to get as much unpacked as possible to determine damages. Then, when I was ready to file, I found out I was given the wrong information about the timing for filing a claim; in fact, I only had 90 days from date of move...NOT date of filed claim. So, I was not able to file a claim which resulted in a wasted $400 for the full insurance as well as upwards of $700 in damages and repairs that I had to pay for out of pocket. I will never use this company again. Horrible experience!

Awful movers-do not use these guys!!

MOVED FROM ASHEVILLE NC TO SIMPSONVILLE SC. LAMPS WERE BROKEN, GLIDER BROKEN ALL FROM POOR PACKING. WE FOUND (AFTER THEY HAD UNLOADED THE POD AND LEFT) MAJOR CHIPS OUT OF OUR WOOD FLOORS, FURNITURE PUT TOGETHER POORLY. HUGE MIRROR WAS PUT UP WITH THE SCREWS BARELY IN, NOT SURE HOW IT REMAINED UP. WOULD NEVER USE THIS COMPANY AGAIN. SENT A MESSAGE TO THEM STATING THESE PROBLEMS AND NEVER HEARD BACK. MOVERS WERE NICE ENOUGH JUST IN A BIG HURRY AND CARELESS.
