Damaged belongings and claims not paid

Original review Sep 26, 2021
Drivers/Movers were high on marijuana when they arrived. They did not cover any of my belongings when they moved them and they promised that was part of their standard process. They damaged my sofa and also tore my laundry room door off the hinges where it cannot be repaired but must be replaced. Richard was the salesperson and Ashley was the claims person who ignored paying the full value of the damages to my belongings. DO NOT USE THEM!

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!

I had a move scheduled 6 months in advance, 15 minutes before the moving crew were supposed to be at my apartment the movers call me and tell me, I'm going to have to reschedule my move! The mover informed me they don't work in the rain and proceeded to tell me how it was down pouring were I was living. NO RAIN IN MY ARE! In fact, the rain didn't start until 4 hours later! That was plenty of time to do the small amount of moving I had since, there was no furniture involved! After going back and forth with this guy, he gets mad and inform me, "LADY, WE AIN'T MOVING YOU! And hung up the phone! I called the main number only to get an equally as rude person telling me they are going to have to reschedule. I tell her I can't because, I have to be out TODAY! The woman tells me she is through this conservation and hangs up! A few hours later I call back to see if they can send someone else to move me, because I can't find someone to move me yet and the lady tells me, Oh! They are on their way and will be calling you when they are about 20 minutes out. I'm STILL waiting for that call! Thank God, I was able to find a moving company that was nice enough to move me on short! Save your money, time, and frustration! GO TO ANOTHER MOVING COMPANY!!!!!

Don’t use this company!

They were scheduled to arrive at 8am. After waiting to 9:30am I called only to get the run around that Scott was coming in and Margerat is going to call you. With no one calling. After 4 phone calls I just cancelled the move. They didn’t even apologize. Then at 1:30 they call to ask me we’re they still moving my piano. Very unhappy with this company. I wondered if they were legit?

Worst experience ever!

The movers were late!! They were extremely careless and broke many items. They did not want to compensate until after being threatened with a law suit. If you value your items DON'T USE MILESTONE. They are the worst. One of the movers was literally found off the street. A job that should have taken 3 hours took more than 8 hours.

A nightmare!!!

We hired Milestone relocation because we weee moving from Small 2 BR townhouse to a large house with a set of stairs to enter. I am in a boot for a foot injury and my husband had army that weekend and we needed it done quick. This was a nightmare! 2 movers were On time and polite, but they had no materials, I had to provide Them with my own towels to wrap furniture, leftover cardboard boxes to pad furniture and they had no gloves (yet complained about grip)! And no dolleys or ropes!! I filled out inventory and mentioned the stairs many times! At new house they struggled bad and it was clear they were very out of shape As my husband and I moved the same furniture last year! We were quotes 2-3 hours and under 400 Dollars. At 5 hour mark they weren't done and my husband stopped them. Boxes still all in garage not even on first or second floor let alone right room, and much furniture never taken upstairs. During move supervisor called at 3.5 hour mark asking why taking so long. They asked me for water and I had no cups we were moving had not brought any?!!? Then at the end when we stopped them because we were being charged by the hour (unfair with slow out of shape movers!!) ... the one man got HEAT exhaustion and vomited all over our yard! He admitted he had not eaten all day (not my problem!) they then left tools at our house and called me and gave them husbands number to pick them up, never came,'called supervisor told her everything and she said they would pick up the tools... they ever did!! she said talk to move coordinator, sent him pics of all that wasn't moved as well as scratches on desk and dent in wall!! Was charged DOUBLE the quote!! Do NOT use them!!!!

Horrible

Mikes relocation service sucks he was over 6 hours late and didn't offer to take anything off my price. He has very poor customer service skills. Granted the first time I used his moving service the movers were about 2 hours late but he offered to throw in a mother person to make the move go by quicker. How-ever I only hired them to move a bedroom set and a few boxes. Needless to say. I will never use his service again. Don't do it. It's a waste! Pay big for great service and a moving company that's will be on time

Angry person

I tried calling and he was immediately very angry on the phone because I had called from a restricted number. There was no greeting or inquiry about the purpose of my call--just anger then a hang-up. It was not intentional or personal to him that my phone number showed as restricted--my number shows up as restricted because of the type of work I perform. I would have given it to him were we to do business together. I am a single professional female and felt frightened by this individual and our interaction was only a matter of seconds. Just a FYI for anyone looking to use him.

Milestone Movers, 'They Break your Stuff'

After having a few weeks to unpack we are noticing some serious issues with how the move took place. First of all I received my call that they were going to arrive within 30 minutes at 9:30. They then did not precede to arrive until aftrer 11:00 AM which was an hour outside of the 9-10am window. In the meantime I tried to call them back and the phone was shut off. I called their office and left a message and no one has ever responded to it. During the move there was a lot of banging when they were moving and I did my best to ignore it, assuming they knew what they were doing. When they dropped a mattress off the upper balcony they managed to catch it on a picture hook and tear it. It was a small tear on an older mattress so once again I let it go. It was after they left we noticed that just about every box with anything glass in it was broken including a three inch thick crystal dish which, despite being rather hard to break was absolutely shattered. Now before you assume I just thew a bunch of glasses in a box and hoped for the best I want you to know that every item was meticulously wrapped in packing materials with care. Any easily breakable glass was transported separate from your truck. These boxes shouldn't have broken, yet every single one of them did. The tv stand is missing two support legs underneath of it which have apparently gone missing. There is a broken leg on a vanity and some broken lamps and lamp shades. There were boxes in the incorrect rooms everywhere despite being clearly labeled, including a clothing box in our shed. I am not inexperienced with how to load a truck as I have been involved in the industry before being both a driver, furniture packer, and working in delivery. A bang here or there and a box with some broken items would not have been a big deal, its all part of the moving process, things happen. The amount of damage to our property however was unacceptable. For that many things to break and be damaged they must have been tossing every box that said 'Fragile' on it on the ground. Even doing that I am not sure this much damage could have been caused. There was no mention of any of the damage by the driver or crew so I expect they were trying to slip it past us. Issues happen I get it, but their dishonesty is also an area of concern. I know you get what you pay for and you certainly had a much more affordable rate, but this is probably the worst move I could have imagined. If you had just not shown up I probably would have rented a truck and my items would have at least gotten there unharmed. I seriously warn anyone not to use this company despite the price. It is not worth it, they will damage your property. I did not look at their reviews previous to booking them and I seriously regret it. Do not use this company.

Milestone Relocation Solutions - Moving Service Review

Where do I begin? This company was terrible. Please don't use them if you are moving. First off, it took them almost 11 hours to move my 1700 sq ft home. I over estimated how much stuff I had (moved 85% of boxes myself ahead of time) and they estimated it would take no longer than 5 hours to move me out and in to my new house - which was only 20 min away. First off, it obviously took them more than double the time even with me overestimating- then they didn't bring a uhaul that was big enough so - get this - we had to load up our own vehicles because they refused to come back and pick up everything. There were 3 of them and they had an individual who didn't speak English so he kept placing everything in the wrong locations and he didn't know how to move at all because he simply was a young and perhaps even a teenager. On top of it, they moved my sister and mom a week later and it only took them 3 hours to move because they actually had competent and capable men move them. So you don't know what you'll be getting. I ended up way overpaying due to their negligence. They also don't want to take responsibility to unassemble anything with electrical components to move (like a treadmill - we had to unassemble it ourselves and help them move it down) they won't unplug and plug in fridges or washers and dryers for you either. Because we were almost approaching 12 hours, we ended up helping them assemble furniture ourselves, it was the most excruciating day and I wondered why am I paying close to 2K for work im having to do? Take my advice and go with another company.

Horrible Experience

I scheduled movers to come to my home on 10/21/16 between hours of 2-4pm. I received call from dispatch at 2:43pm that movers would be a little late. I continued to call throughout evening with very little updates from dispatcher other than that the movers were now stuck in traffic. I called Richard Gordon at 4:48. He was very short but said would reach out to dispatch. I called Richard back and left a voicemail with zero response. Finally at 730pm three random guys in a old jeep show up. They said they just got the call to come. They did not have any equipment such as a furniture dolly or anything. They looked at how much furniture was needed to move and since it was so dark said they wouldnt be able to move me. I called dispatcher back. She provided zero resolution and zero sympathy. She said maybe we can get them back in morning but was not positive. She said to call main # Monday morning. I called Richard. He also provide zero apology and said to just send email to claim address. This has been the absolute worse experience I have had. No one took ownership of the problem or provided any type of resolution. I have never wrote a letter to a company complaining about their customer service or lack thereof in this case. This time a letter is definitely warranted. This was the most unprofessional organization I have ever met. I truly regret even contacting them for their moving services.

MOST UNPROFESSIONAL movers

I know that moves can be tricky and I've worked with several national and local companies, but this was the WORST experience with a crew I have ever had. Honestly, if the moving crew hadn't had my phone number and details of the move I wouldn't have associated them with the business at all and if I hadn't had to move by that particular date I would have declined services upon my first impressions and interactions with the moving crew. What I saw looked nothing like the pictures that are posted for this company. Noted on company website: "All our crews consist of trained, professional and uniformed moving specialists." My experience with Milestone Relocation: * One mover noted "you are the most difficult customer I've experienced," and "your move makes me want to retire, I just want to get out of here." * Furniture was referred to as "cheap." * Mover argued about providing a receipt for payment, noting the company does not have receipts for customers. * Was told that if I wanted my furniture wrapped, wanted a receipt, etc. that "you should have gone with a different company, we don't do things that way." * Mover #1: jeans and a black t-shirt; mover #2: jeans and a Nike sweatshirt Unmarked truck, dilapidated condition, shattered glass on floor of truck. The movers said the condition of the truck just happened a few days prior, but I can't imagine a business being okay with moving paying customers in it. Noted on company website: "We will bring moving blankets, shrink wrap and tape to protect your furniture at no extra cost." My experience with Milestone Relocation: * Movers complained that my mattress bag was not taped shut; they did not have tape. I unpacked a box to provide the tape. * Movers noted that I was being "argumentative," and "making this harder than it needed to be," when I requested that moving blankets be used to transport furniture. After several requests on my part, they still did not do this with 100% of furniture. * Mover notified me that he would point out any scratches, furniture damage, etc. prior to moving an item. Two marks on the dining table were showed to me. After the move: bedframe is bent; TV stand has several scratches and bookcase has a scratch. * Was told that if I wanted my furniture wrapped, wanted a receipt, etc. that "you should have gone with a different company, we don't do things that way." Noted on company website: "Great customer care. We are committed to providing excellent overall moving experience to our customers. We have highly knowledgeable moving consultants to answer all your questions before your move, dispatchers that are available on your move day; and in case something goes wrong, we will always be here to address any issues that may have appeared." My experience with Milestone Relocation: * After the movers arrived, I called to voice concern about the condition of the truck and about payment (was notified by mover that I needed to pay for 100% of the work before they unloaded the truck - something that was not communicated to me when the move was scheduled). I was told that a dispatcher would call me within the hour to discuss my question. I never received a call back. * Sam Thurman, Atlanta area supervisor was called by a mover when I stated that I needed to hear about the mid-move payment policy from someone in the office. o I noted that no one had notified me about making a full payment half-way through the job. He asked what I had been told about payment and I said I had been told nothing other than the per hour cost. He replied with, "See no one told you that payment happened at the end either. So you see my point, you need to pay them now." o I communicated my frustration with furniture items not being wrapped for protection while being moved from apartment to elevator to truck. He asked if items were secure in truck and I said yes. His reply was "So what else do you want?" When I stated that I wanted items transported securely and not at-risk of damage he told me to "let the movers do their job, lady."

Milestone Relocation Solutions - Moving Service Review from Raleigh, North Carolina

Do not use this service. They never show up when they say they will and with all of the rescheduling I just had to hire new movers which cost me time and money. They were extremely unprofessional; Mike, Larry and all the others. They hung up on me and are a bunch of misogynist jerks. Save yourself the headache and hire another service. I also reported them to the BBB because they are horrible and unprofessional; beyond reprehensible.

Worst Move of my life

I was asked by Richard Gordon to email the claims department instead of listening and making right the catastrophe that was our move on Sunday, August 7 , 2016. Our "movers" (I use that word loosely because one of the men who arrived said he wasn't a mover he was a painter) They arrived to move us to our new apartment. It was an easy job. Around 10 pieces of furniture, maybe 8 boxes and that was it. In hiring this company we were told we would have three movers arrive, instead we were sent two men, one of which said he wasn't even a mover and both of which said it was suppose to be their "day off". They arrived in a Uhal truck (which was our first red flag) with no moving supplies and no knowledge how to move furniture. I am former military. I have moved my whole life and know how real movers move people's belongings. You wrap up the items with bubble wrap or some kind of protective wrapping and tape items so drawers do not fall out and so that items don't scrape our walls and get damages. These guys had no tape (they had to borrow our moving tape) they had nothing to wrap our furniture with and protect it in the truck. They have maybe 5 blankets to "put between items". They did not know now to load furniture into the truck. They didn't know how to use the truck ramp. At one point my husband had to stop them from hoisting our piano into the truck without use of their A.) hand truck and B.)ramp. They dropped our dryer down the stairs!! They dropped our daughters dresser down the stairs. It was Sunday and their offices were closed and Mr Gordon did not answer his phone, so they could not send us a new team. If it had been any day the office was open I would have told these men to leave our house and to send us a new EQUIP team. Instead we were stuck with these guys and had to watch them like hawks to make sure our items were not further damaged. This was absolutely unacceptable. When we complained the men to be please take their time (after dropping two pieces of furniture) their reply was "this is really hard. We aren't movers. We weren't suppose to work today." I am appauld that we were sent a skeleton crew to move us with no supplies and to have them complain about doing their job for 4 hours. I am also let down that the salesman, Mr. Gordon (who put together our move), would not listen to my concerns on the phone and instead schlep me off to an email address to complain. We were cheated out of a quality move and their company needs to make this right. We will NEVER use this company again. I know from past moves and moving companies what good customer service looks like and this company has a quality control issues form the top down. I WILL NEVER recommend this company and will be issuing a complaint the BBB today. Someone needs to make this right for us and I would also like an apology for the scam that was this move.
