Cobra sign-up

First issue is Mercer not having my info after being on hold for 1.5 hours. 3-5 days to obtain but it's been 11 days. I've currently been on hold for 4+ hours waiting to see how we can move forward. They have an option to leave a voicemail with a call back in 1-2 business days. Meanwhile, I have creditors wanting payment and I cannot sign up to then make my Cobra payments.

Resolved: HELP!!! Every year my husband had to fight them to be reimbursed for a legitimate claim. Now, I am a widow trying to submit a claim. Denied over and over, despite sending the same documentation

Updated by user Mar 20, 2023

After lots of "fighting" they approved my legitimate claim and sent me a check. I will continue to write letters on behalf of all the people who give up, don't have computers, don't know how to fight this horrible company.

Now I am crying because this is so hard. Being a new widow is hard enough without this horrible process. Can anyone help us?

The website and claim submission is the worst

Website never works. Incredibly slow. It takes roughly two hours to submit an FSA dependent care claim. Pages take forever to come up. If you make a mistake it's impossible to cancel it. Uploading receipts is a nightmare.

Resolved: Still can't get my HRA reinbursment after upgrade to new online system

Updated by user Sep 09, 2022

Company fixed the issue and I have been provided with discount on future orders.

Original review Aug 10, 2022
As a ***** for 32 years, this is the worst company I've every dealt with! First of all, their website was down from mid-June to July 11th for upgrades. I was suppose to be able to log in on July 11th. It's now August 1st and I still can't log in. I've been calling to complain for weeks and keep getting the run around. I'm told my case is with upper management, and they can't deal with me. I cannot get access to my funds to pay medical bills. I can't get in touch with ***** because all the calls get forwarded to Mercer Marketplace. I have no recourse through ***** so I plan to contact my Attorney ***** this week for help. I suggest everyone who has a complaint to contact their local Attorney General to lodge a complaint. Callcal

Incompetent

Mercer is horrible to deal with. Always has been and probably always will be. I inheirited this company when my former employer turned over their HR stuff to them. Most every time I turn in a medical expense for reimbursement from HRA account they turn it down for "missing/incomplete documentation", even though I give them all I have. Often if I resubmit the same documents a second time it will get accepted. It just depends on how stupid the particular employee is that looks at a particular claim.

Mercer failed to provide critical enrollment criteria

My wife and I have been receiving HSA benefits through Mercer Marketplace for several years. This past year, my wife turned 65 and switched to Medicare. During two consultations with Mercer, she was advised to stay on Medicare A & B, but get a Medicare part D prescription plan. These consultations were on 5/2021 & 11/2021. When I checked on our benefit for 2022, I found that her benefit had been terminated. After discussion with Mercer reps, I was told that she no longer qualifies because she did not choose a supplement or Medicare advantage plan. This is because Mercer failed twice to advise her that a supplement or advantage plan is required. Avoid this company. They are clearly not looking out for you.

Company drop medical Ins for retirees, have Mercer Market place 365 handle Ins now

no change

Worst website in the world, will lock out at random or at every request to change password. Most people do not know INSURANCE and or ENGLISH. How bad is it---I I am thinking of dropping all Ins from old employer and forgoing $3,000 in HSA due the mountain of paperwork, aggravation. I can due better on my own.

Shocking, untrustworthy service.

Worst company I have had to deal with on anything. They took ages to transfer my pension. They repeatedly ignored communication, lost documentation and were uncooperative. When they did finally respond, they made every excuse they could think of and provided misleading information. My pension liberation took close to approaching 2 years. They then paid incorrect amount. Legal proceedings ongoing. Disgusting.

Terrible customer service

I have called on numerous occasions, spoken to 3 different people. They all sound like they were forced to be working. Which is not the case. If you don't want to be helpful go in another field! They are rude and dry and are unwilling to help you with any questions you have. If they do answer, they give you an attitude. I had to click on one lady because she was purposely ignoring my request to speak closer to her mike, so she went further and further away. Terrible!

Beyond Angry!!

This company is WORTHLESS! I have been trying to settle a claim since March 2021 for my mother who passed away in late Jan.2021. They have made an absolute mess of everything and are keeping me from being able to finalize my mother's estate! Their employees are incompetent and do not follow protocol, they have lost legal documents, they don't return phone calls as promised...they are a NIGHTMARE! It's a damn shame I have to resort to filing suit against them at my local courthouse to get a simple claim paid out!

Extreme Disappointment

Everything that could go wrong at Mercers end, has. My employer has shifted our "retiree" plan beginning 1/1/2022, which means I have to select and implement a new Med Supp. before 1/1./2022. Once I received the Mercer packet I tried to access the website with info. they provided, used two different search engine's but couldn't get in. After finagling the HTTP I finally accessed it. 9Also the pin provided didn't work.) I then called and set an appointment with a consultant immediately after receiving the kit sent trying to avoid the last minute rush. After waiting 15 minutes beyond my app't time I called and was told there was no record of my app't. I also asked if they had at least received the paperwork required for the app't., they stated they had it for my wifes but not mine (it was sent in the same envelope). I rescheduled for a month later. The consultant who was supposed to call (I had contacted that particular consultant since friends had used her and were satisfied) didn't, however another consultant instead called but left a voicemail, and said the call wouldn't go through. I immediately called her back via her ext. number but was only able to leave a voicemail for her. Called Mercer, which is another huge nightmare, only to be told that someone would call me. Finally I was able to speak with a consultant, although she was very helpful, she wasn't able to complete the transaction because she was not licensed in my state for the product I had chosen. Once again called Mercer, another run around, but finally now I have another appointment to sign up for my "new" Med. Supp. plan. Hey I don't have a choice of who to use, my past company mandated it, but if you have a choice, I'd definitely find another carrier unless you have 10 or 12 hours (no exaggeration) to waste on their site or the phone with them! I can't imagine the problems ahead if I have to use their HSA, "another mandate"! Hey if you read this and don't heed it, proceed at your own peril.

New customer

We are being assigned to Mercer Marketplace by our former employer. I am on line trying to find out what to expect. All I see are negative comments and feedback. It looks to me as if you buy health insurance from reputable companies such as Mutual of Omaha that has a solid reputation through Mercer. I don't understand where the problems are that lie ahead? Does anyone have anything good to say about Mercer? Can anyone elaborate more on potential pitfalls? Thank you

Mercer Life Insurance Error, unacceptable.

My 38 year old husband was insured as part of his employment agreement with mercer. He died of cancer 7 months ago, leaving behind me and our three kids (9, 12 and 13). Mercer are claiming the amount on my husbands life insurance statements (also documented on a separate letter) were a mistake and have paid out approx 1/3 of the policy. Had we known that the employer paid policy was worth 1/3 of the value we had been told we would have had additional insurance. Do not trust your statements, check everything and get evidence of discussions emailed to you. My husband even phoned to check his cover a couple of months before he was diagnosed with cancer - mainly because mercer kept accidentally sending letters saying his policy was cancelled. The balance that appears on his statements was confirmed verbally over the phone. If you are an employer choosing life insurance for your employees, look elsewhere. Please do not put your employees through the heartache of believing they have insurance only to discover through this companys incompetence they dont have the cover they thought they did. Im currently going through financial complaints and legal avenues but Mercer have had 12 months to address internally. I hate mercer more than I can express in a review form, mainly because for my husbands last few months he cried more about this than his terminal diagnosis. I can never forgive Mercer for letting my husband die not knowing if his kids could say at their current schools.

Unending nightmare of incompetence

For nine months last year, Mercer Marketplace Discovery Benefits could not resolve a problem in their files that caused them to repeatedly, and by repeatedly I mean dozens of times, send me notifications that my insurance was cancelled. After eight months on the phone with them, after sending them check after check after check, they indeed cancelled my insurance for no reason whatsoever, and that is by their own admission. I have been a member of the same group plan for 19 years. They were completely incapable of solving the problem that they created and in the midst of a worldwide pandemic they canceled my insurance, completely in error, again by their own admission. And now, in January 2021, they have again started sending me notices that they have canceled my plan. I continue to be an active member of the same company-sponsored group plan. They are completely incompetent, and though many of the people are quite pleasant on the phone, especially the older people, their claim that "anyone on the customer service line can help you" is just a bald-faced lie. The stress that they caused me last year during a pandemic has compromised my own health, ironically. I am hiring a lawyer and I am starting a search for insurance independently on the open market place. I don't care if it costs more; they ruined my life.
