Extortion and neglect! DONT GO HERE

Updated by user Jul 21, 2023
I’ve attempted contacting the cooperate office numerous times and have yet to hear anything! NOTHING!

Original review Jun 15, 2023
Im writing this message to inform you of how horrible I was treated at a recent medvet clinic in sunset Utah. I was clearly extorted and taken advantage of and I am furious! Let me back up a bit. To start off the nightmare service I received, this is what happened. Early Saturday morning my puppy and my everything injested some of my medications that I carelessly left out and I take full responsibility for those Actions. Anyways I rushed her to the closest animal ER. Where is the worst fear in my heart that I was gonna lose my daughter because after all, she is my daughter I called med vet and sunset in Utah. Inform them of my coming at first I was impressed because when I pull up, they ran outside to grab my dog and they instantly took her off to work on. They asked me if I was OK that it would be around $7-900 after everything was done of course I said yes I just wanted to save my daughter. As I sat in the waiting room, I realized they were seeing other clients that the payment was actually due right then and there. They did not allow payment plans, which thats what I originally was going to do. I went to talk to the receptionist to voice my concern about not having that much money at the moment and she said OK we will let the nurse know and go from there. I thought everything was gonna be OK well it definitely wasnt next thing. I know they call me back into a room where they said to wait because the doctor wanted to speak to me then thats very rude non-sympathetic jerk of a doctor came in. He told me my dog was going to die point-blank said your dog is going to die we will more than likely lose her. Of course, I broke down and freaked out and wasnt sure how they couldnt save her where I got her there soon enough then the truth was exposed. The doctor told me he had stopped all care on my dog that I was told was dying so I assumed she was critically needing that care. That he had stopped all care and refused to go forward because he was told I didnt have payment. I assured him that my boyfriend worked on the oil rigs, and I was just having a hard time getting a hold of him, but I knew Id figure out a way to make the payment if I had to, but by then he started becoming more and more angry, and mean to me, he then decided to say I will no longer do any care on your dog until I have a $2000 payment ! How did it go from 7-900 all the way to 2000??? he wouldnt get in detail how but just kept informing me I will not work on your dog and your dog is dying. So of course I did everything I could and raised the money!! The receptionist, even said these words on my boyfriend paid the amount now that youve paid the 2000 we can start the treatment!! by then my dog was not 100% but I feel she couldve went home and thought I was told the meds she ingested wasnt even the problem they thought she had some brain disease which clearly she doesnt.. so they ended up keeping my dog overnight which I called them numerous times asking if I could bring her home and to please not go over the $2000 deposit. They promised they wouldnt then magically when I go to get my dog its already $200 over, I am so pissed off and frustrated at the service I received from this place they took advantage of the situation a very emotional scary situation and it is not OK. I was extorted, and I will not sit back and except that I am going to be suing for extortion, and other damage done during this time! I just wanted to bring it to your attention so you are made aware! I dont know if theres a time we can settle out of court to make this right, but if not, I will definitely see all of them in court and I guarantee I will win!! What kind of doctor tells someone their dog is dying in one sentence, and then that same sentence tell them I will not continue care until you pay me at least two grand. What is selfish money hungry horrible, horrible person. The fact that he can call himself a vet is disgusting and that he works for your company is appalling!

I believe this place is a danger companion animals that have a high value

Original review May 01, 2023
Do not take your pet to this place. It is a lot deeper than people are talking about the cost. It is deeper than just the money. My baby da vinci a pit bull my heart my best friend was shot by a sherif My baby had Only shrapnel in his left shoulder and we get there approximately around 8 AM and the Sheriff's department.. sent detective to talk to the doctor ..hmmm why?? I walked into the hospital. They have him Hooked to IV with fluids. They said he was in a shock and he was dehydrated and The doctor emphasized that the cost as a Deterrent. It would probably be better not to pay so much Money for recovery and suggested to put him down. I said no I Turn it down. I told him.to take care of him and don't worry about the money. It's not a problem after the entire day passed by and I'm thinking they are fixing him. The doctor.. doctor forte ...came in and just speak to me after many hours suggested again that I put him down Again this is after Many hours of waiting for them to fix my baby so that we could either go home or he could start somehow recovery. He comes in and tells me again that I need to put him down because he is too badly damaged. He lied I signed to put him down but I was so distraught and just dreading everything that happened that day and it having to put my baby. Down I didn't realize I'd signed something without anything above it. It was just a dotted lying in an X. There was nothing above it. It was a handheld computer And I signed. something without even knowing what I was signing. When they put my baby to sleep it was horrible experience he could not open his mouth for some reason they sedated him or did something to his jaws. To where he could not open his mouth his legs were completely straight out that he could not move and we're in a hog-tie position When he realized that it was me he started scooting his body at frantically to get to me because he could not move his legs or his mouth he couldn't whine or cry or pant and he frantically was trying to get to me so badly that he almost fell off metal gurney. I regret my decision every day I do not eat I barely sleep. That I didn't even realize I thought he was in pain and this is my baby. Why did i not realize what was going on when he put the drug in him? He started hyperventilating he didn't fall asleep like he was supposed to then when he finally put the last shot in there his eyes rolled Into the back.of his head and his head just Dropped.but his body didn't go limp at all and it was weird Very very.Odd to me. I just collapsed I just knew I made a mistake I started doing some research. They said that he got cremated so I started asking for paperwork receipts and things so they reluctantly sent me pictures and documents but they were. Fraudulent the x-rays were tampered with it was very easy to tell that they were hiding something so I finally asked for the cremation receipt. And that was when they All of a sudden accused me of Harassment. When I had to call over and over again asking for documents that I have the legal right to have And. they have a legal obligation to give Me.they were going to get a lawyer that I could not come on the property anymore because I would be trespassing. They actually had a deputy call me and warned me so I just wanted to do some extensive very very extensive research and found out that most of the pets That go there that are of any value are Put to sleep... for some reason they did not want to give me the cremation Receipts. thats because there was not a Receipt to give.. my Baby was sent. somewhere to One of. their. Locations for clinical studies. After pretending to Put my baby down. They have done this too many people I'm sure of it. hes still alive because I can feel him and after all the research I have done. There is not a doubt in my mind that they have done this to many other people and right now. I am on the search for my baby and I prayed to God that he is not into much pain and hes got suffering but I want everybody to. Know right now that if you have already taken your pet to med vet and they have been euthanized. You need to recheck because they probably have him or her at one is their locations for clinical studies. When I started to study the pictures they sent me an extra 8 pictures they sent me via email I pressed on the picture in a sequence of numbers and commands came up. The doctor Was using some kind of machine to? Send the s pictures to a facility. To? Register. Him? And I was saying to myself register him? started to read the numbers and the commands and he was registering him for some kind of. Research. So from the very beginning of that day he prepared for my baby to be put in some kind of research lab the drugs that he administered to him began injection. At 11 AM then at 3 PM then the euthanasia at 6 PM well the drug that he used for the euthanasia is just a Drug that just renders you unconscious and has a smooth recovery of waking up from this anesthesia.//unconscious sleep. And the mixture of the drugs he had already premedicated him from 11 o'clock that morning with all 3 together and an overdose of one of the. 3 just put you to sleep that's it it does not kill you... My baby is alive his name is da Vinci here's a pit bull hes Grey with white chest floppy ears and he is my world under God I prayed to God. That I find him and then he will be able to come home to me. Do not go to this place. Please return my baby!

Danger to Pet

Original review Jan 04, 2023
Recently on a Friday my 9-year-old dog received treatment from MedVet for pancreatitis. I was told that if the vomiting and diarrhea continued I should contact them. The diarrhea was still pretty profound on Saturday. I called, and the employee who answered the phone said to just keep giving him the probiotics as prescribed and it should stop. By that evening it had not. I called again, and asked that a doctor return my call. None did. By Sunday morning the diarrhea was bloody and even worse. Since my veterinarian's office was still closed, I called the hospital again. They said they would have a doctor call. None did. I took him into his vet on Monday morning. They treated the diarrhea aggressively, and my dog was much better within 12 hours, and much more comfortable. (So were we.) I contacted MedVet by email a week ago and have not heard from them. They put my pet in danger.

Did not treat my dog properly and it’s all about money for them

My dog was treated there and its all about money for them. You wait for hours in the emergency room to then have your dog taken away to be treated. Very impersonal. You have to put money down before your dog is treated and they talk all about the money up front. Then they did not test my dogs blood for follow up appointments, just said she looked great. Had they done that they would have discovered other issues. Then wanted me to go through ER again just for blood work.

Medvet would not even look at my dog!

Original review Oct 06, 2022
Went to there ER I was there for about an there six other cases there after an hour there were about twenty cases there they told me I could wait if I wanted to or see a doctor in ten days. I made the appointment. I went home. The next day at 1:00am I called them I told them that my dog was chewing his foot off. They said you can come to there ER again. There is no way I was going to do that again. I called my old vet from eight years ago and he got me in that same day. Three days later and my dog is doing a lot better. I would give Med vet minus three stars!!!

They are only in it for the money!

They are all about the money! I took my dog there who was in excruciating pain and could barely walk. We waited for 8 hours to be seen only to find out almost nothing unless we spent $5000.00 in testing to find out and then more money to treat her!!! I ended up picking my dog up and going home with almost no information regarding her condition and a lot of medicine that only put a bandaid on the problem. I ended up having to put her down 2 days later because she couldn't move! If you have a lot of money they are all about helping you, but when you say it may be more expensive than you can afford, they leave you alone and offer no alternatives. This place doesn't really care about animals, they care about lining their pockets! They didn't even have the decency to follow up regarding her condition a day or two later.I

NO ISSUES! Just excellent compassionate care!.

Original review Jul 09, 2022
Thanks to all of you at MedVet Diley Hill from the receptionist, to the VetTech and the Veterinarian. Today was a difficult and emotional day as we had to put our little Westminister Highland Terrier down. From beginning to end I could not have asked for more knowledgeable and compassionate staff. Thank you, ALL, again.

Dissatisfied, upset

Complaint: I was just in today at 1150 am waiting for 28 minutes and had to complain at the desk, and the lady told me, "Im sorry but theyre in triage for the dog," and then she called to remind them that my cat Ziggy was there. I told her "this is a vet clinic, there should be more than 3 vets available". And there were still people before me waiting who were already there when I got there. Additionally, when she asked me what was wrong with my cat, I said he had pain on his back, and she didnt ask me any other questions about him. Then I heard her tell someone else who had just come in the door that an intake person would be with him shortly but that person with the clipboard was no longer there bc I didnt see her in the waiting area anymore. She was there previously. The lady told me very non-chalantly, "oh, Im sorry, it must have been a while since I called her, let me call to remind her." She had also seemed too slow when she was typing at the computer, like she was a beginner and needed someone to tell her to go faster. She also said she "had forgotten to remind the vet and let me make sure she knows youre here". That is why I decided to leave. The vet should have already "known" right after I checked in! This is supposed to be a professionally run emergency clinic, not the check in for a child's daycare center- who would have done better. I asked her why I hadnt been called in yet and she gave me the excuse that "the vets were busy dealing with an elder dog and that is why why I havnt been called in yet" (that I saw carted in on a gurney). That is not an excuse. Your clinic has, from what I saw 45 vets at least that belong to the business (all their cards were displayed on the counter). Unless you only have 6 vets on any given day, I dont see why I had to wait so long and the people who were before me who had a cat also were still there. My cat got overheated in my car bc I had no a/c and he was panting and never stopped and I needed to get him out of the carrier very quickly. I had to drive him all the way back home just to get him cooled off. If you have to wait over 20 minutes to go into a room then it's not an emergency clinic.

Worst experience

I would give 0 stars Worst Vet practice experience of my life about a month and half ago I took my poor baby in for surgery which is a service dog. And unbeknownst to me she was sent back home in a awful State after the surgery. I made them aware of the problem ASAP. And was told you would have to come through the emergency room which is very expensive so I bought her back to the emergency room for them to keep her and not do nothing, I was told They have to run more test. all they would say is Im sorry, If you love your pet dont go to Medvet causeway THEY DONT CARE its all about the money once they get your money they attitude change.

Angry with service

They saw my dog a few days ago. She was in pain for several hours. They said they gave her pain medication and it didnt do anything. It was until 6 hrs later listening to her pain that I called back and they prescribed her tramodol and gabapentin. She was fine and then the issue started again. The receptionist at Med Vet was rude and acted like my dogs severe pain was nothing. Told me Id have to wait 2 hrs. She would ask me a question and then she would cut me off and tell me she didnt sound too bad. I think their phone answering time is *** too.

After months of frustration, serious and potentially illegal business practices, and the death of my beloved service dog, I finally was able to talk to a person at Medvet SLC. This person is in charge of too many things and I know this is a huge part of the problems...

No one will take time to even give me medical records that have huge chunks of info missing that our primary vet cannot even make sense of what happened.

Original review Oct 06, 2021
In Oct 2020 my primary vet discovered my service dog had B cells in one lymph node and refered me to medvet oncology. We had a surgery consult that was a drastic surgery and the surgeon actually said, "I might end up yanking out the spleen." This seemed extreme and the oncologist didn't really offer much advice except, "watch and wait." We did, but we're sent back to medvet again in Jan 2021. We really liked the new oncologist and I felt like my dog was in good hands, until she wasn't. My dog's care had been switched to another doctor without my consent and this doctor withheld critical info from me, abandoned my dog's care and cost us the time to diagnose and at the most critical point, she refused to treat the cancer and let it spread. When I tried to have my concerns addressed I was lectured on how I needed to treat Medvet staff. My dog suffered the last 5 months of her life this was devastating to go through and, now I am suffering and under extreme emotional distress. Medvet ran up 17k in bills over the last 6 months. They made me keep a card on file and billed it for dates we weren't even there. When I wanted to take it off file, I was told that I would never be able to get reimbursed for the extra charges if I took the card off file. I have yet to be able to speak to a manager or resolve anything and I found out after having to put my dog down that they knew the cancer was spreading but never told me. The breach in care, lying about lab results, failure to keep records with necessary details needed to give my dog the better outcome, fraudulent billing practices, compounded by communication issues that cost us any hope of remission, cost us my dog's life and it was so traumatizing to watch her suffer through chemo as a desperate last chance and medvet continued to give false hope and engage in unethical practice knowing, it was too late. It is so upsetting to know now, that medvet was never about helping my dog. Medvet was only about helping medvet, and I had to take my dog to her regular vet several times a week for supportive care and to make sure everything that could and should be done was being done, because I no longer trusted Medvet after catching the one doctor in a total lie, and then she lied to the other doctor I did trust, but no one bothered to even sort out the huge issues, instead, I was told, " I'm way to busy and leaving for my summer vacation," and I was forced to rely on the vet who had lied and responsible for my dog's care being dropped and losing our chance to diagnose and treat the cancer. This vets actions and inactions ultimately cost us over 17k in 6 months. It has been over a month since I lost my beloved service dog, and I am struggling. They have devastated my life. There was never any guidance, and I am sick to find out they had plenty of opportunities to try and diagnose and treat the cancer, but because no one communicated, and the one vet lied about labs, follow up care, she left us hanging and charged us for dates my dog was at another vet. I never got a chance to even meet these people in a video call bc of Covid, so this is the biggest betrayal of trust that could be done to a person. I am truly heart broken and feel so taken advantage of by this place. The lack of transparency and inability to accept responsibility for major issues is alarming. I was told, " they feel really bad about what happened." And that, "perhaps they can use this as a learning experience and do a better job next time." There won't be a next time for my dog and I am very upset that I wasn't able to make informed decisions that were in her best interest because I was not given all the information and a vet I didn't even know, much less consent to treat my dog, this vet literally withheld the most important info needed, she lied and made up stories, she caused chaos and confusion and then completely abandoned my dog's care at the most critical point. This vet engaged in a pattern of behaviors that are consistent with malpractice, negligence and incompetence.

Horrible vets

Updated by user Sep 24, 2021
I tried several times to call the manager back and left several messages, with several different people and just like all the other complaints I seen on Medvets Facebook review they haven’t called me back either. It is obvious at this point that they have no intention...

Original review Sep 24, 2021
This was Medvet of Pittsburgh but from the complaint below mine sounds like they are all the same. We brought our cat in and he had a temp of 105. His stomach felt like a rock. It was very hard and painful. We were told it would be about 4 to 6 hours, and if we lived close by to just leave him there and they would call us. So we left him there. He was there all night from around 9 pm on June 21st to around 8:30 am on June 22nd. We had X-rays, blood work, and a urinalysis done, all recommended by your vet. They still had no clue what was wrong with him. They thought maybe he ate something he shouldn't have. I asked if it could be a side effect to the medicine he was on after a dental appointment at our regular vet, but they really had no idea. I was asked if we wanted to send his X-rays out to be looked at, because they didn't know what it was on the X-ray that they were seeing. We did for an extra $100. They said it would take 2 hours, but later on, they told us that there was a delay and when they got them back, they would call us with the results. It's been over a month and they still never called with the X-rays results. They told us we could pick him up, otherwise they would have to admit him. We picked him up and brought him home. The whole ride home he kept trying to lick his belly and it looked yellowish and purple in the spot he was licking. They had him all night, yet didn't notice this mark, even though he was obsessively licking it? When we got home and opened the cage he looked like he was dying. When we tried to take him out he was crying and hissing. When we put him on the bed, he just fell over and wouldn't move. We called our regular vet and rushed him there. We thought he was going to die. When we got there the vet hadn't arrived yet but arrived a few minutes later. The vet tech took him in, came out like 3 minutes later, and said he had what looked like puncture wounds or drainage holes on his belly in the spot where he had been licking. His fever was 105. Our vet got there, looked at him, and came out in just a few minutes (without running a bunch of unnecessary tests on him) to tell us that it was an abscess on his stomach and they would get him all better. They had him like 4 hours. When we picked him up his temp was down to normal, they drained the abscess, and did iv antibiotics. His stomach wasn't hard anymore and he looked completely different. He felt 1000 times better. All he did was suffer at the emergency vet all night, and we paid 1000.00 for what? A bunch of useless tests that he didn't need. He could have died and the emergency vet couldn't even tell us he had an abscess? Our vet took one look at his stomach and immediately knew. Your vet did nothing for him. We didn't need all the tests they did. One minute of looking at him and our vet tech even knew what it was, but yet the emergency vet had no clue. It was like they didn't look at his stomach even once when he was there, despite us telling them his stomach was hard and painful. We want our money back, as all he did was suffer there with no help at all. They just kept him, ran a bunch of unnecessary tests, and then sent him home with a dangerously high fever. If we hadn't picked him up and taken him to our regular vet as soon as they opened, he would be dead right now. We thought we were leaving him in good hands when we took him to medvet. We thought he would be getting the help he needed. But he nearly died, because they didn't even look at his stomach and just filled him with pain meds and charged us for a bunch of tests he didn't even need.

Death resulting from gross negligence and malpractice

I would like to file an official complaint against MedVet Inc. located in Worthington, Ohio (a suburb of Columbus, Ohio) as they are directly at fault for gross negligence and veterinary medical malpractice as they repeatedly mis-dosed my beloved pet pug (Buddha) with the incorrect insulin (both type and dosage) and failed to treat his diabetic complications albeit providing the staff with both the proper directions as well as manufacturer-sealed insulin vial (Novolin 70/30) upon my dog's admission on November 12th, 2020. The staff REPEATEDLY assured me they would use Novolin 70/30 during his clinic stay as well as requesting that I provide them with Buddha's proper vial of insulin which I did. **The staff at MedVet negligently administered Buddha's insulin as he was medicated with Novolin R, a much longer-acting insulin which directly and solely attributed to his systemic rapid decline resulting in fatality. Buddha was repeatedly overdosed with three IU of Novolin R in lieu of the PROPER AND PRESCRIBED INSULIN, Novolin 70/30 which prescribed dose is TWO IU. ** MedVet's malpractice was directly responsible for sending Buddha into a fatal diabetic ketoacidosis spiral which resulted in a fatality from secondary and tertiary complications less than one week after the admission and discharge from Medvet. Buddha succombed to his condition 11/17/2020 after The Ohio State University Veterinary Medical Center team tried tirelessly to correct MedVet's malpractice. To make matters worse I have witnesses to multiple telephone conversations between myself and Buddha's treatment team during his admission where I REPEATEDLY inquired with both the staff and treatment team making sure that the proper insulin dose and type were being administrated during his hospital stay. I was falsely reassured and LIED TO by the staff at MedVet. After the deadly malpractice at MedVet my dog was discharged in a rapidly-deteriorating state and MedVet Inc. refused to provide additional services to correct their malpractice. In fact the staff chased me off the property for a reason unbeknownst to me after they refused to provide additional services to Buddha when I attempted to have him re-admitted to MedVet the following day for observation. I helplessly witnessed Buddha's rapid health decline. At this time I was unaware of MedVet's malpractice and negligence as the staff was not transparent with me regarding Buddha's dire health condition and medication misdosing The treatment team at MedVet simply communicated to me via multiple phone conversations that "Buddha's glucose levels were all over the place" and that "I needed to increase his insulin dose to 3IU." Had I followed those instructions it would have resulted in Buddha's immediate death. The following day (11/14/2020) I took my dog to The Ohio State University Veterinary Medical Center after being refused services at MedVet which is also located in Columbus, Ohio. The veterinary medical staff informed me that Buddha was in advanced stages of Diabetic Ketoacidosis which if was properly treated at MedVet could have arrested Buddha's rapidly deteoriating condition. I had repeatedly requested that Medvet email Buddha's labs and additional records to no avail until they finally obliged last evening (December 2nd, 2020.) After receiving the lab results I saw that upon admission to MedVet on 11/12/2020 Buddha already had ketones present in his urinalysis screen as well as a significantly elevated leukocyte count indicating an infection which progressed into deadly bilateral opportunistic multi-lobe pneumonia while presenting with a glucose spot check of >;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;500. The staff at MedVet re-checked his glucose upon my request and despite the dangerously fluctuating readings the MedVet staff did not take Buddha's diabetes mellitus type II into account whatsoever when regarding his systemic health ailments. Buddha was simply treated for neurological symptoms and was discharged negating any endocrinological complications which was the underlying cause of his seizure which prompted me to admit Buddha overnight into the MedVet clinic. Buddha died as a result of MedVet's malpractice on November 17th, 2020 at The Ohio State University Veterinary Medical Center after the medical staff at OSU tirelessly attempted to correct MedVet's mistakes. I have retained an attorney and plan to take legal action against MedVet for their negligence which resulted in a completely avoidable fatality of my beloved Buddha. Also, the dates are incorrect on the labs saying they were drawn on November 11th when Buddha's admission date was November 12th.
