Death claim

I faxed all information to the company on june 21 ,2023 Date is july 9 .I'm beneficiary of policy. No information to be found anywhere. I recently located their email so i did email them. Still waiting on something regarding this claim which amounts to 9000.00 i recently received a 40.000 payoff which took 2 weeks at the most. Therefore I'm dissatisfied with mass mutual ascend for this reason

DO NOT trust that if you have life insurance through Mass Mutual that your family will receive the benefits

I have been trying to get paid on a policy my mother had paid on for over 26 years (and even two months after her death). This has been going on for almost a year, wrote a letter to the President even. I have finally hired a lawyer. Through this ordeal realized my dad had a policy as well, they claim it was paid out (within a month of his death - based on my experience with them NOTHING happens that fast) but will not send me proof even thought I have provided all the documentation they have requested. My parents were a cop and a secretary, didn't have a lot but believed in insurance and paid timely on every payment. Shame on Mass Mutual for their practices!!! Especially when people are dealing with the loss of a loved one. I really respected and believed in the Company but I will be sure to tell anyone I know who is considering buying insurance through them to take their money elsewhere.

Stole my insurance money

I took out life insurance with this company and within a year covid hit. Unfortunately I was unable to make payments, never received any emails, calls or mail from them. When I went to contact them they had kept all the money I have saved with them. Because according to them I never reached out to them. They stole 15k without telephoning me. Theyre crooks.

They Lied To Us & Stole Our Money

What Mass Mutual promised us, we would come to find out was a series of lies that would leave us owing them hundreds of thousands of dollars, instead of them owing us that. I cannot stress how important it is that when you are looking for life insurance, you RUN away from Mass Mutual as fast as you can. My husband and I set up life insurance plans over two decades ago. During our initial conversations, they showed us what our projected income would be at retirement. In addition, hey showed us what our guaranteed cash surrender value would be and that we would not have to pay premium, because our dividends would cover it (which we have on recording). Now, Im 70 and ready to retire and cash out on our policy, but Mass Mutual is coming back to us saying that we owe THEM close to half a million dollars, because we didnt pay our premium, even though we have it on record that this was them who told us to do it. Moreover, the guaranteed cash surrender value was ¼ of what was promised at the time of sign up. So, now not only have LOST what we thought we had to retire with, but they are saying we need to pay them. If you are looking for a life insurance plan, look elsewhere. You wont find out how crooked they are until its too late. If you are currently using Mass Mutual, look at your plan NOW, do not wait. Do not let them screw you over the same way that they did us. They are doing nothing to work with us or try to rectify their mistakes. They would not return my calls. Its absolutely crushing for myself, my husband and for my family. WE are currently reporting them to all state and Federal agencies.

Delay in retirement check

I hope this is public because I am very upset at not receiving my retirement check on 1-1-21 as I have been receiving for 12 years. On time. Since Massmutual sold their retirement accounts I finally received my check by mail on 1-25-21. My bills were not paid in time and i had several overdue charges. Could not get phone # of one of your agents

Short wait to talk with a customer service rep. I am trying to locate Robert Sink (or Sinks). No number was listed. I just spoke with him 2-3 weeks ago. I assume he is still with Mass Mut.

Just started getting letters that says we can not meet our obligation, you cost us too much.

I have a guarantee annuity plus started years ago, now I've have received letters from Assmutual stating that we can't keep our deal, screw you, you have a couple of months to make your choice,BUT remember we are now going to start to CHARGING YOU if you don't. The they start to *** kiss stating that you will make money and WE WILL MAKE MONEY.

Will not pay on long term insurance

my 88yr old mother has paid for long term care insurance for 27yrs now she needs daily care.Started a claim in april 3,2020 as of sept 22,2020 Massmutual still has not paid I have given them everything they ask for, Bad company

Mass Mutual could care less about their customers

When they chose a portfolio for a company's 401K plan, they must be throwing darts at the worst of the worst mutual funds and bonds to put in the package. Then they refuse to only update how the funds or bonds are doing on a quarterly basis. They say it's to keep the fee's down. I say it's because they're lazy and they could care less about their customers. I would never recommend this company to anyone. I'm not trained in this field but I can do better research than them and my own personal IRA proves that.

Hire a monkey to handle your money, better results!!!

Closed my IRA on 10 Nov 2019. Took 40 days to receive my check. These people should get a job as greeters at Wal Mart-Fran Conner, her sidekick Brooke, and Michael Terry. All from Indianapolis. I want my service fee reimbursed along with the interest on 40 days. I do not expect to receive it but what can I expect from this circus run by clowns? Paul Quiel

Don't use this company

I told them to reinvest all of my dividends for over a year, and they have done so.. Getting so tired of their run around. I am transferring my 2 million account next week.

Holding pension hostage

Supposedly sent letter for pensioners to sign( not a certified letter) if not signed we don’t get pension. Well now all *** will break loose! They cannot hold pensions hostage ! Did they get notified I was dead? No so they are required by law to send pension or see me in court

Pathetic Service

Mass Mutual is a total do it yourself operation. High fees, modest returns terrible service. I attempted to do a rollover from a 401 K to a traditional IRA, Mass Mutual processed it as it qas going to Roth IRA which creates a big tax consequence for me. I called them and got different story every time. Now instead of reissuing the check they refuse to correct their mistake.

Double check their math!

I recently attempted to roll over my 401K account from Mass Mutual to Vanguard. I was only 60% vested in the employer contribution portion of my 401K. Mass Mutual correctly withheld 40% of the employer contributions and they remained in my account. Mass Mutual then proceeded to take 40% of my 60% and called it a Forfeiture on the disbursement information. I have called them repeatedly and am still waiting for them to rectify the problem. They currently are saying they are researching it! If anyone else is in this situation you should double check their math.

RMD taken from Roth

MassMutual insisted an RMD had to be taken out of my Roth account prior to withdrawal. I told them it was exempt until owner dies & is inherited by my sons. They said it’s IRS rules and I was wrong. I even spoke to a supervisor and she agreed with her employee. Needless to say they don’t know their what they are doing. Sad......
