Mars Veterinary - Animal Dna Testing Review

I find it rather funny that this laboratory states a puppy that I bred is a 3rd generation wolfdog with gray wolf grandparents on both the sire and dams line. I had a DNA test done by this company on the mix breed mother and it is completely different results and more believeable than what the DNA test came back with this particular puppy. Not only did the owners of the puppy return the pup I had to give them a full refund because of the claim of recent wolf heritage. If I could sue this company for misrepresentation I would. But their disclaimer stating that this is strictly informational use only protects them from being held liable, for mistakes. This is a consumer-driven business. I plan on contacting Mars, and demanding that they send me 2 DNA test so I can retest the parents.

Dog DNA done

We had a test done, end of July they said it would be completed 2 to 3 weeks after receiving the samples, they are a company of their word. I were pretty surprised what our dog was. We actually thought he was a Irish Terrier Mix. NOPE! he is a golden retriever, pointer, yorkie and an unknown mix. I had to laugh! but sent them a nice note saying we were not seeing this and a picture. They sent it into review board, and came back with a full explanation, which made a lot of sense. Told them ( Things are NOT always as they SEEM!) Although my husband agrees to disagree! LOL In spite of it all, he is a incredibly smart dog playful not overly hyper comes when called!

Our DNA test went fine & we received accurate results

We adopted our dog from the Lakeland, FL SPCA & were told that he was a terrier mix. We had the test done by MARS Veterinary & they told us that he is a Chihuahua/Yorkie Terrier. He definitely has the traits of both of these breeds. Our veternarian agreed with their findings. Odie has the temperment of both of these breeds & he has the looks of a terrier. I have seen several pictures of Chorkies (that's one of the names that describes a mix of Chihuahua & Terrier) and he looks remarkably similar to several of the pictures. We received our results within 4 to 5 weeks.

Mars vet DNA test is bogus

I had my rescue dog dna tested by Mars Vet dna test kit. To say my dog looks like a golden retriever mix is a understaement. She is longhaired golden in color, has feathers on all four legs, has a beautiful bushy golden retriever tail and has webbed feet. The Mars Vet dna wisdom panel came back declaring she was a mix of American Staffordshire terrier and a french bulldog. This test is obviously a ripoff of the gullible, unsuspecting public. Save your money, your guess of your mixed breed dog is more accurate than the guess made by Mars Vet Wisdom panel.

WISDOM PANEL

omg these people have got to be a scam. My dog bella is a puppy mix and i had this test done. (still waiting for results) Bella gave her blood on aug 25th.. I have been waiting for over three weeks and checking the site for the results. The website said the test was done and they were generating a pdf form since last friday 09-14-12. ???? i have called and talked to them twice and emailed them.. They lied to me and said the blood was not rec till sept 11. ? really where has the blood been? I think they are full of lies. they say someone will call me and it has been two days and no call?? i read on here the results do not even match other peoples dog.. I am just mad as *** they lied to me and my vet is using them. I called my vet and waiting for a call back from them. I plan on making sure the world knows this company has no integrity...

MARS Veterinary/Wisdom Panel Insights

I had both of my dogs tested and fell off the chair when I got the results. First Dog SANDY, she has some health concerns and the Vet said that this could help with her care and treatment. She was a stray so we have no idea what her parentage is, their test was a farce. Per MARS her mother was PURE Chihuahua Father Mini Poodle and Cocker Spaniel, She has traits of Chihuahua, but no traits from her Fathers side, per Vet and Dog Show Judges, Makes one wonder. Then there is AUDRY, I know who her parents are. They got 25% of her right, Her Father is an 8th generation papered champion Pekingese. MARS said that her Father is a Pekingese and MIXED breed. Her Mother is a Terrier mix and MARS said that she is a PURE Chihuahua. It is sad that people have these tests done to try and improve their dogs care and training. Sandy and Audry will always be loved and cared for but this was and is sad. When you are trying to find a few answers to help the Vets with care and Trainers with concerns and you might have be able to give them some insight, and find out that you were ripped off. As P.T. Barnum said "THERE IS A SUCKER BORN EVERY MINUTE" and I was one.

Mars Veterinary Customer Service

I have read the complaints posted here and quite honestly was quite surprised. We had our little dog tested and at first didn't beleive the results. After talking with their on staff DVM, Dr. Hughes, we now fully understand how the results were derived and why she looks like she does. Dr. Hughes explained to us the basics of canine genetics and the difference between dominant and recessive traits. At the end of the day, dogs, like people, can look alot different then their parents. If you doubt the results, give them a call. Worse case you get your money back.

RIPPED, we got an absurdly wrong test result and were totally sure.

We got the test results back which were totally wrong, just as tho they had some pre-made up test results and were shooting them off to us randomly. then then they asked for a photo. we sent one but no word has come. now they can say just anything once they see the picture. stay away people. you will be very disappointed and money thrown out. the original results were two Toy breeds which is laughable if you saw our 40 pound girl. we feel this site is fraudulent and should be publicized as such. Just pass the word!

Wisdom Panel - Mars Veterinary

I had a wisdom panel done through my veterinarian. I was told to expect the result in 3-4 weeks. 6 weeks later, I still had not received any results. I called Mars and they said that they had never received a blood sample. I am certain that the sample was sent out. I understand that the sample may have gotten lost in the mail. HOWEVER, Mars had received payment for they test and then just forgot about it. They didn't bother to let anyone (me or my veterinarian) know that they had not received a sample. After spending all of that money on a test with questionable accuracy to begin with, and then to have me and my family wait with baited breath for 6 weeks...to find out that the test wasn't even being done? Thus far I am both dissatisfied with the product and the company management. I hope that they make an attempt to rectify this situation in the very near future.

Wisdom Panel MX by Mars Veterinary

Through my vet, I had a Wisdom Panel MX done for my dog Marley. I was charged $135.00 for this test, and its results are totally bogus. Here is quote from the report: "You Should see traits from: ------ (blank). You May see traits from: ------ (blank). There's a slight Chance of seeing traits from: Beagle, Chow Chow and Siberian Husky." "Results like Marley's are found in about 70% of mixed breed dogs in the U.S." It's noteworthy that probably 9 out of 10 people believe my dog is a border collie (possibly a border collie/lab).
