Marriott refuses disabled!

Marriott refuses disabled to their resort! I am 13 years Marriott owner and this year for the first time Marriott Playa Andaluza in Spain where I go every year refuses me to their resort. Their argument is that kids from local owners create nuisance so local owners are not allowed during summer. But I am not a child, I am disabled and am largely dependent on the facilities of Marriott Play Andaluz for my holiday. We tried to get in contact with the General Manager of Marriott Playa Andaluza but so far he did not call back..we are 5 holiday days later.

Time share? Don't do it.

If you are considering buying into a time share from Westin/Marriott, dont do it. I bought a two-bedroom lock-off unit on Maui ~30 years ago when the cost was $40k. It was the worst financial decision Ive made in my 71 years of living. Weve used it every year because Ive been determined to try to recover my investment but by my figures, I have yet to break even. In addition, the annual maintenance fees have more than doubled and there has been a steady stream of changes to the reservation rules and policies that have made it more and more difficult to use. This year, it appears, they finally succeeded at freezing me out entirely. Today is July 31, 2023 and I just tried to use the owner website (Vistana.com) to make a reservation for a 7 night stay at one of the resorts on Maui, which is where I bought my time share. I am only allowed to make a reservation within an 8 month window and today, I couldnt find a single week of availability between now and April 1, 2024. Moreover, when I go on the Bonvoy.com site as if I am a paying customer and not an owner, I find I can book 7 nights in any week I want. Im not sure how they can get away with that, but apparently they can. Look, the properties are beautiful and well-kept but listen to someone who knows. You will be treated far better as a paying visitor than you will be as an owner whose money they already have.

Share the frustration - Potential Class Action Suit

We have owned the timeshare since 2002...never missing an annual payment of fees. Have only used the week once as trying to book anywhere we wanted was always UNAVAILABLE. So the only use were the years we were able to convert to points. NOW, when trying to make a reservation under Bonvoy, not even trying to use points I was told our account was under "Audit". After being shifted to 3 departments I was told our account was in FORECLOSURE due to non payment. It's true the annual fees were due in Jan, however we have to this date not received correspondence of any kind at a new address as of 3 years ago. Yet I am told several letters were sent. NOT TRUE! We have an almost perfect credit score because of prompt payments to all invoices. I had to call the "foreclosure" department 3 times to get a invoice for the penalty although it was promised in an hour on the 1st 2 calls. When I gently complained of the lack of correspondence I was guided to the re-sale department,as they don't want any owners to be unhappy. The resale department has disconnected my calls 3 times now. I am going now to wire money for fees due (as we always pay bills) including the $419 fee for FORECLOSURE proceedings. Wondering if there are others who have the same predicament. Seems they want their properties back for re-sale, even if it means taking them by any means?

Marriott Vacation Club sucks!

They take your money, expire your points (which you don't have enough of to go where you want but aren't giving them another penny) and *** you off when you speak with customer service. I tried to sell it back for the $0 they offer, but found out I have to wait 2 more years (2 more years of annual fees) and then they will give me $0 for it. Hurray...just 730 more days! Run and don't look back! This is the worst thing you can do to your children or whoever inherits your stuff when you die.

Deceived

We are leaving this review to let potential customers of the Marriott Vacation Club know just what kind of company you would be dealing with. We were deceived into purchasing extra "points" and lied to when questioning that deceit at our next face to face opportunity. We have been given a run around for the last two years, attempting to either sell back or even walk away (despite investing thousands of dollars). We have written letters, emails, and communicated with representatives all with the goal of ridding ourselves of this product, which was purchased under false pretense, and dissolving our business connection. We have been led to various departments, with evidently no one in any of those departments at Marriott Vacation Club knowing exactly what to do for us, and all we are asking to do is sign it back over completely, knowing we are losing money. We are frustrated and disappointed with the treatment that we have received, as well as the never-ending circle of referrals we have been given. We have had enough of Marriott Vacation Club, and this is a PRIME EXAMPLE of why.

Poor customer service

I have been calling to cancel an existing reservation for 2 days. I leave a callback number and never receive one. I am NOT happy and have been an owner for many years.

Total Scam

Dont waste your hard earned money by purchasing a Marriott timeshare. The sales people will make false promises to get your money. We bought into the points system ten years ago & were finding that we were unable to book barely any of the resorts 13 months out. We went to a presentation in April 2023 & were told that we were unable to find any availability for bookings because we were at the executive level. Keep in mind that we had 7500 points at that time. We were told that if we bought more points then there would be more inventory available to us. The representative said, You have to pay more to get more. Thats how the world works. We went ahead & bought more points for a total of 11,500 points which moved us to the presidential level. After signing the contract, we knew that we only had ten days to cancel. So we logged onto the MVC site and were still finding that we were unable to book anything. Our representative said this was because we were in a reconciliation period and to trust him that everything would be okay. Of course, this supposed reconciliation period lasted way past the cancellation period. It is now about three months after our purchase and we are still in the same situation despite spending thousands of dollars later. For example, I went on the site at the 13 month mark & plugged in 26 resorts for May 2024 and only 2 were available and those were two of their least desirable properties. I did this for June 2024 & July 2024 & had the same results. Contacted our representative, who said this shouldnt be happening & *** look into it. No calls back despite us reaching out to him multiple times. Upon further research we found out that week owners get first priority & points owners do not. When you include maintenance fees & money we put in, we could stay at a 5 star resort every year until I die. Save your money & dont fall prey to this scam.

Worst purchase experience of life

Worst investment of our lives. We spent over $25,000 for points that we could not use. You should not have to spend significantly more money to purchase more points in order to have the ability to book a trip when and where you would like. Also, I had to make muliple calls to receive rental car vouchers that I turned in points for. Nothing is ever done correctly and you can expect long hold times and several angry phone calls to get something you paid for. The company does not do as promised. Bottom line, this is a huge scam. We actually sold our points to a reputable buyer and Marriott exercised their right to buy the properties back. Once again I am getting a complete runaround regarding the disbursement of funds that are not even 25% of what we paid. I received an email stating funds would be disbursed 7-10 days after May 10th. It is June 5th and nothing. Typically, nobody answers the phone and after I got someone on the line I was told that the settlement department does not have a phone. I cant even talk to someone. Please dont invest your hard-earned money for this scam. I promise that you will regret it!! Oh, plus you have almost $2,000 In annual maintenance fees for properties you cant access. That is the price of a flight or vacation. I hope this review will prevent even one person (or couple) from making the same mistake. I honestly would not want anyone I cared for to invest in this scam.

It's never enough.

I've been a vacation club owner for years. I love the resorts but am so very tired of being told that what I have is not enough. If I don't buy more and get to the next level then I will not have access to the resorts I want to use. I've spent thousands with this company already. It's tainted my whole experience with Marriott. I'm ready to say I'm done and give it up all together.

To alert others-DO Not Get Suckered!!

- [ ] I would give 0 stars if possible!! Horrible company, lie to you to sucker you in to a timeshare and then relentlessly pursue you for money and wanting you to purchase more. You are forced to go to their 'presentations' every time you have a holiday at one of their resorts. Do not trust this company under any circumstances. I had a nightmare of a time trying to get rid of the damn thing after being screwed over on 'maintenance fee's' for years. I am not living in USA either so dealing with them was a nightmare. Call us was all i ever got-bit difficult when there is a 16 hour time difference! I repeatedly asked for emails, even that was too difficult as they had written my email down wrong and also my address-a completely different country from where i live! I mean how hard is it to read a form (i have extremely legible handwriting) We were lied to and told the company would buy back the timeshare from us if we ever decided we no longer wanted it. We had to go to an American Embassy, bring our own witnesses (2) and pay for our signatures to be witnessed by a authorised person. Then send all the documents by registered post. I was forced to pay for the following years maintenance fee's (to keep the 'account' open they said?!!) and told i would be refunded once they received our documents and the property was back in their name (free of charge i might ad!) Cue 3 1/2 months later, multiple emails where i repeatedly asked them to do a bank transfer as my bank does not except foreign cheques they told me the refund had been processed. When i asked how, 'by cheque' I mean seriously?!! These people are so unbelievable to deal with. I wrote an angry email back repeating i need a money transfer, 'oh that has to go through another department'!!! Eventually i received the money transfer minus the fee's to send it so they screwed me out of another $30. One last *** i guess. Its finally over thank god!! Please beware and stay far away from these con artists.

Disgusted Owner

Original review Jan 02, 2023
MVC used to be a great way to book a vacation. We've been owners since 2010. Now, the maintenance fees have become as much as booking a vacation. The worst part is, there is NEVER anything available to book. We can book 13 months out and even that far out, NOTHING is available. Forget about booking a vacation 6 months out. What's happened is, when they went to the point system, they've oversold since a point system is not tied directly to inventory like a week timeshare would. They certainly don't mention this during their sales pitch because they're all making a ton of money. They lure you in with a $250 gift card, or a ton of Bonvoy points. Keep your money and put the exorbitant maintenance fees towards a different vacation where you could actually find something available! Marriott should be ashamed of themselves!!!

**BEWARE**Marriott is using fraudulent and deceptive trade practices to persuade people into purchasing timeshare with them.

Marriott refuses to acknowledge any wrong doing in the sale of my timeshare and are not being accountable for the misleading, deceptive and fraudulent trade practices being used in their company. As of today - they not only refuse to cancel my contract - they wont even...

Original review Nov 19, 2022
I am very upset with the experience I have had as Marriott Vacation Club timeshare owner. Marriott used fraudulent and deceptive trade practices to persuade me into purchasing timeshare with them. Marriott lied about the true value of the timeshare, they lied about the availability of the units, they lied about the length of the presentation and they lied about the annual maintenance fees and how they operate. Based off of the referenced lies, I was persuaded into purchasing timeshare, 4/17/2021, under the advertisement of your sales executive, Mr. Richardo Martinez, who stated at the time that Marriott was currently running some incredible owner packages & specials with amazing benefits and additional perks to the owner, since timeshare purchases have been down (low) are due to Covid-19. A year later and a half later, two failed attempts to book a stay in Aruba, due to unavailability, I have come to learn that much of the information given to me was false. Mr. Martinez made this program appear to be fun and easy to use, unfortunately, the timeshare has caused my life unnecessary anxiety and stress. I thought I would be able to go on vacation more often since I was a member. Unit availability and member annual dues are extremely important factors to be aware of and Richardo Martinez kept these crucial details from me. One of my many questions &/or concerns to Mr. Martinez was, would becoming an owner could guarantee me at least 7 -10 days in Palm Beach, Aruba every year for my birthday in June?, where I have spent my birthday for the last 6 years celebrating at the Aruba Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino, where I have a great relationship with the resort manager Leslie Prea and where I intend to spend my birthday, each year, for the rest of my life, in OCEANFRONT accommodations the same or very close to the accommodations I received from the Aruba Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino each of the six years I stayed? And are there any annual fee requirements? I explained to him 1. The timeshare was only being purchased to be ONLY used in Aruba and 2. That if he could match this arrangement I would become an owner; but if he could not I was disinterested in becoming an owner. He said, Absolutely Mrs. Harris and no, no annual fees, I bought and it was all lies. I have paid all of my loan payments on time each month since the purchase and have also paid my annual fee on time but I have yet to successfully book my annual trip to Aruba from June 9- 18th, as promised by your staff. Each time I call into book the timeframe is unavailable. I had added my name to the waiting list hoping a cancellation would possibly make the dates available and no luck. Every attempt to utilize this property has been a complete let down, and continuously reveals more of the lies that have been told me. They altered the information to make this ownership seem like it was a good match for my life. Its unfair that year after year I am expected to pay into your program that I 1. Was lied to and misinformed about the true ins & outs of ownership and the way the program TRULY works and 2. I have not been able to utilize my ownership since purchasing it due to the fact that Richardo Martinez sold me was a pipe dream. What your representative promised me that the Marriott Vacation Club ownership would deliver has been impossible to achieve to date and that is not fair. I am unhappy that I have been misguided by your staff. I do not appreciate the faulty sales tactics used in this circumstance and the fact that I have been exposed to fraud. This level of deception is unacceptable, and I need you to take accountability for what I endured during the sales presentation. I continue to pay year after year, in addition to one bill, the annual maintenance fee, that I was not anticipating. Had I been given true and accurate information regarding this membership I would not be in the predicament I am in now. STAY TUNED VIDEOS TO FOLLOW AND CAN ALSO BE FOUND ON YOUTUBE.com
