Complaint

My husband and I went to see Sound of Freedom this morning (7/25/23) at the Chesterfield Missouri location only to sit in the theater for over 25 minutes after the movie was supposed to start. A young man came in and said there was technical difficulties and we received vouchers. Unfortunately I also spent $30.23 on snacks I would NOT have ordered if I knew the movie would not play. I am very disappointed and heard other people talking about how other theaters were having problems with this one particular movie. Is this true? Please respond. Thank you! Mary Ann Paubel

No response for private showing

I made contact with someone about pricing for a a private viewing. After an initial response and my confirmation that I would like to schedule this showing, I have not heard anything back after several emails and a text to her cell number. My sons birthday is fast approaching and I need the confirmation that this is indeed in the books. I have been willing to pay from the start but still have heard nothing back. I would love to be contacted and have this resolved as the event is to be scheduled for July 2nd Thank you Scott Arendt 262-994-****

Website

I really thought that perhaps I was offering a positive comment to Marcus by letting you know that you had an error/typo on your website. However, when I saw that you called me a pissed consumer, I wished I had never even tried to help you. I cannot imagine what kind of people you have working for you that would put something so objectionable on your website.

Magical movie rewards was not magical

Tried to use my movie rewards last night to buy popcorn. Manager said system doesn't work and said I needed to pay full price instead of discounted price. No refund or credit for the difference is permitted, she said. So I paid double the discounted price. This manager was rude about the whole thing, making excuses that once the day ends, there's nothing she can do. A credit of some type is better than leaving the customer paying full price. Poor, poor customer service. At: Marcus, Lake Ozark. MO. MARCH 7, 2023

Helpful customer service rep Joy

I thought I ordered physical gift cards but I actually ordered e-gift certificates. Joy got me straightened out when we spoke and told me how to access the gift certificates electronically. Well done, Joy! Thank You!

Bad Movie Experience

I went to see the movie Smile with my partner on November 4th and had a very bad experience. This group of people would not stop disrupting the movie due to their talking and laughter and I myself went to the employees to do something about it. They did nothing about it. The people who were disrupting kept going on and did not stop. It completely ruined the experience. My boyfriend later got called the n word after the movie when we were in the lobby.

Complaint 8.20.22 7:25pm Showing

Updated by user Sep 23, 2022
It has been over a month since the incident, and Marcus Theaters have made no effort to reach out to me to apologize for how I was treated.

Original review Aug 24, 2022
I went to Marcus Point Cinema in Madison, WI for a showing at 7:25pm on Saturday, Aug 20th. I noticed that the person sitting next to me was texting on their cellphone before the movie started, so I pulled my phone out quickly to turn it off to be considerate of everyone else. A very rude security guard came up close to me (which made me very uncomfortable) and angrily demanded that I turn my phone off, even though I had done so before the film had started (my phone was off and in my pocket when he approached me). While I was trying to politely let him know that I was turning my phone off, he rudely turned his back on me before I could finish explaining myself. He did not approach anyone else who had their phones out, even though I heard two more phones go off in the middle of the movie, and multiple people were talking very loudly during the entirety of the film. I understand that I cannot control what other patrons do in their theaters, but I do not appreciate being the only person who was aggressively yelled at by their staff, especially when I was trying to be respectful to those around me. It felt like I was targeted, especially because this guard did not do the same to anyone else who was breaking these rules during this movie. This absolutely ruined my experience, and even thought I frequent this theater often as a customer, I will no longer be coming to Marcus theaters moving forward. Marcus Theaters made no attempt to rectify this situation or reach out to me regarding the situation.

Harassment problem

My family and I recently patronized your theater (Chicago Heights location). My fiancée and I purchased tickets to see one movie, our 2 daughters went to see another one. Their movie finished before ours, so they decided to wait for us in the smaller "lobby" outside our theater. They were approached by a security person (older, black gentleman with glasses, name unknown) who was overseeing some other children coming out of another theater adjacent to ours. He instructed our daughters to leave or go into the theater a couple of times. Each time, they informed him that they were waiting for us because our movie was about to let out. Apparently, the security person wasn't content with their response and became slightly more aggressive and impatient. He then told them again to leave or he would put them out himself! These are young ladies who showed no disrespect to him! They decided to come into our theater to avoid further confrontation with this individual, as we shortly came out. There is seating in the area by our theater, so it is safe to say that that particular area is meant to be a waiting area of sorts... Understandably, security at the theater is very important. Especially when its busy and there are quite a few minors present. However, there is a certain procedure that should be followed when informing patrons about certain factors that are in play. More consideration on security's behalf, should be exercised when handling, what was a "non-threatening" situation. Especially when parents or other older family members are present. We are hoping to have this issue addressed promptly and adequately. We patronize this theater quite often and would like to continue to do so. As well as others... Thank you for addressing this matter... Thomas Bouie Jr 708.288.8062 thomaz5371@***.com
