Technical question

what is the minimum distance that furniture or televisions need to be away from the Lopy evergreen wood-burning fireplace.?

Resolved: Had issues from the start.

Repaired.

Original review Apr 14, 2023
Purchased Lopi Gas fireplace insert. Within a week the insert stopped working. Took a couple of weeks for the dealer to get a tech out to repair. (Several broken/no show appts) Determined that main gas valve had failed. Turns out that a lot of these have failed resulting in supply issues. Had to wait almost 60 days for replacement part. One of the reasons we purchased this brand is that it was manufactured in the states. However, as we discovered, the parts are not. Another week goes by and the insert shuts off uncommanded. Then cannot be relit. Another month goes by with broken/no show repair appointments, and finally store owner shows up and determines remote receiver is faulty. More waiting for parts. It took a total of 6 months to get it operating. That was 3 years ago and it has been working flawlessly. Yay! It does eat batteries. They last approximately 5 months whether you use it or not. The remote system runs exclusively on batteries even though it is plugged into the wall socket. It has two separate systems. One for manual operation and one for remote. It would have been great if the remote system could be powered by the 120v wall outlet until the power failed when it would switch to battery power.

2 months into our insert- piece of crap

Insert fills house with smoke when you open the door. Lets smoke into house when you move bypass lever. Hard to start. We spent $6600 on this thing what a let down. Got a hold of Lopi, they told us our house is the problem no their stove. Look at the chimney connection-3.5 inch square opening? Lots of pipes inside the stove for a greener earth, smokes horrible outside. Weve had a wood stove for 40 years with no problem. Youve been warned

Disappointed

Installed a new Lopi Answer insert and am having the worst buyer's remorse of my life. It's unbelievably picky about how and what it will burn, fills the room with smoke every time it's opened and is generally a pain the *** The blower noise is obscene and it barely heats the room its in. Run away from the expensive piece of junk as fast as you can.

Complaint

This pellet stove is the worst stove made it smokes it continues to put so many pellets it bakes up the shot and catches fire or puts out the fire. Blows more cold air then hot. Says it heats up to 2000 sq feet and I have to run t 2 electric heaters plus my oven to heat 600 feet and its not the place who sold it its the manufacture

My Lopi 1250 wood stove burns for 2 hours with the manufacturer claiming up to 8 hours.

My Lopi 1250 purchased and installed in late 2017, in my new home, has excess air flow rapidly consuming wood. The dealers seems unconcerned indicating EPA requirements dictate, has had me tear apart the air intake dampening system and adjust, replaced all the casketing, etc. I have written the manufacture and repeated visits to the dealer without correction. No one seems to care. I have owed and regularly used fireplace inserts and wood stoves for 4 decades. A good stove is fired up and when hot throttled to have the flames dance a waltz. The flames in the Lopi 1250 dance the Cha Cha Cha with 12 cups of coffee rapidly consuming the cord wood and sending the heat up the chimney. The underside air intake lets in too much air despite my taking it apart and adjusting per dealer. The air intake extends to under the house so need the mechanical air intake to work. The door gasket does not leak. The general construction of the unit seems solid. I am ready to dump the Lopi and get something that works.

No Service or support from local dealers or Travis Industries

Buyer beware - Lopi dealers are reticent to service the Lopi brand - if you live across town from the dealer - great - if not - no service. Travis Industries takes a clear stance that they are ONLY the manufacturer - that dealers service the stoves, and that they cannot make a dealer service what is sold. If you have an issue with this brand - you are on your own. I would look for a manufacturer/dealer that services the products they sell.

No happy at all

Updated by user Sep 24, 2022
Lopi stoves has not resonded further. After telljng me that once the sell the stove to the dealer they are no longer responsible.

All service, warranty work or maintenance is done by the dealer, who can honor what is posted on the Lopi website or not. It is all at their discretion.

So if you pick a shady, hole in the wall dealer like I did, because they happen to be the only one in your area. Then you have no recourse

Lopi wood stoves or inserts are not something I would recommend. Their website says warranty has free parts and labor for the First two years for most items. BUT, the dealer can charge a service and gas fee if they so choose.. How is that free labor if dealer can charge a service fee?? And word of warning, don't pay much attention to the web site, as they sell the product to the dealer and after that they are not responsible for the warranty or anything else. It is all up to the dealers discretion...

Worse pellet stoves we’ve ever owned. Over priced, hard to clean and doesn’t heat our 1,800 sq ft house

Original review Jan 24, 2022
Hate it! Wont heat, awful to clean and way over priced. DO NOT PURCHASE THIS PELLET STOVE! Uses lots more pellets than any pellet stove weve ever owned. Than to top it off, the company waited close to 4 months to cash my check. He accused me of writing a bad check. Im 71 and Ive never bounced a check!

Pissed off.

Purchased a Lopi 1250 Insert January of 2017 from a dealer in Oscoda Michigan and have never been happy with it. Per the manufacturer's specifications, it will heat up to 1200 sq ft? I think not. The design of the air control Is ridiculous and hard to maintain, the blower switch went bad in the second year and the fan wheels have issues from minimal Sparks that melted the fins? Who makes a fan for a fireplace insert with aluminum cooling fins that melt? In all fairness if I could get my money back it would be justified and some. Two things for sure! Don't buy an insert without knowing someone who has one and #2 purchase something other than a (LOPI)

Problem with pilot light not staying on

Pilot light is barely touching the thermalcoupler and stays lit for only about 10-15min. using a propane kit for this install.

Air Control Problems

I have a Lopi 1250 Republic wood stove (SN 1118-00****) purchased from Innovations for Quality, Bellingham, WA. The stove was installed in my new home in late 2017. It draws too much air with recharge time of an hour and at best burn time max is 2 hours. The Lopi Wood Stove brochure states model 1250 burn time up to 8 hours. With prior wood stoves, when heated up and turned down to minimum air, the flames slowly dance. The Lopi flames look like they had 7 cups of coffee. The seal around the door is fine, per candle test, with excess air coming up the bottom air intake pulling out of my crawl space. The seller passed me off with a number of not correcting comments. These include: air emission requirements means you cannot throttle down, the air inlet door needs adjusting to close more (pulled apart and reset door opening to minimum without improving), that's just the way it is, etc. I have written Travis Industries (Lopi manufacturer) several times about the problem including via certified mail. They do not respond. How do I get at Lopi 1250 Republic wood stove to throttle down so to extend burn times, reduce wood consumption and not send so much heat up the chimney? The unit appears well constructed with too much air intake! Sincerely, H. W. Burwell
