Horrible company

I'm years past building with this company but I still want to make others aware of my mistake. PLEASE READ ANY AND ALL REVIEWS AND BELIEVE THEM! This company is trash and will build you the home they want you to have. Stay far away from the name Gene McDonald!!

2/5

Terrible communication and not trustworthy

Told broken sheetrock in garage would be fixed it wasn't Yard looked much better before the so called landscaping Charged for clearing land when we had trees cut down ourselves Cracked walkway and driveway Flooring coming up in kitchen and Gene McDonald doesn't communicate all he seems to care about money not customers

2/5

Very terrible experience

Poor communication 4 months late on home and then tried to say we owed more money on schedule B even though the yard work was terrible garage looks terrible and the extra cost was never discussed just sent in an email if you have to deal with Gene McDonald run do not walk to another builder his communication is awful

2/5

We were not treated fairly at all.

Do not use Gene McDonald at all if you are trying to build a house. He is not trustworthy at all Don't purchase a home

2/5

Poor communication, poor construction, overcharged for upgrades, 5 months behind schedule.

Customer Satisfaction not a priority. Bogus charges for upgrades like flooring. They charged me $9109 over and above initial floor allowance for LVP flooring and I ended up with mediocre flooring. The $9109 went into builders pocket, not the flooring. Flooring ended up having soft pockets and bubbled up. Mold under the flooring. Very poor communication and contractor will lie to tell you what you want to hear but do something different than what he says. Finish work left undone or poorly finished. Supplies left in rain for months before builder even started work which likely contributed to mold. Builder refuses to correct blatant building errors properly. Walls not level. Website lists quality appliances, but builder refused to supply with only an $800 credit. After spending over $5800 in upgrade to master bath, drop in tub not installed properly, but builder refused to fix. Sink countertop installed crookedly and not corrected. Builder only provided 1 hand towel bar and towel ring. Same in other bath. Small towel bars. Great example of how small minded they are as cost for a full size towel bar maybe $2 more than small one they provided. The list goes on and on for the mistakes and unfinished work.

Worst of the worst

STAY AWAY!!!!! Do not use this company whatsoever!! They use the lowest of the low material and then will not honor anything they say

Todd Bennett does not take care of his peoples mistakes.

Todd Bennett had a TERRIBLE carpenter that he uses, Yeison(pronounced Jason) who would come out to our home ONCE A WEEK to do work. Todd even himself said that the only reason he keeps him around, because he is lazy, is his work and hes affordable. Well on one visit Yeison broke a light fixture that we bought for our house, this was weeks before we even moved in our house. Todd acknowledged this in multiple emails and has given us the run around ever since about compensating us

My House Built By Lockridge Homes-4 years Later

Due to the numerous calls I have received asking if my problems have been taken care of, I am posting an updated video.

I worked for them

I worked for Lockridge homes for 6 months and I finally quit after not being able to get the jobs done right and the supposedly boss I was working for, Todd Bennett, wouldn't support me on the problems i was informing him on. I covered areas as far as Augusta, Georgia to the entire upstate of SC all the way down to Cheraw. This company is a joke. The cheapest materials , cheapest subs, then rip sub conttactors off left and right. If you build a house with them yoi will have nothing but problems. I promise

Poor Construction resulted in our firing Gene McDonald (Lockridge Homes)

When you merge a highly incompetent site foreman (Rod Martinko), with a general contractor that will not even speak on the phone to the client, you have a recipe for disaster. Leaky roof, multiple failed inspections, using two different types of shingles, failed to properly secure the kitchen bar correctly, had to rebuilt the steps 3 times due to code violations...... The list goes on and on. I ultimately pulled the permit and fired Gene McDonald. It cost me plenty. However, thank goodness that we acted when we did, inasmuch as we were able to identify, and correct, the multitude of mistakes that would have developed into major problems down the line. McDonald refused to install the HVAC and allow the wood floors to be properly installed by our independent floor contractor. This occurred after he had agreed to the conditions we set forth regarding the floors. Indeed, he refused to sign an access agreement an proceeded to work with an incomplete contract. A thoroughly depressing experience. Never work with Gene McDonald or Lockridge Homes.

Stay clear of Gene MeDonald!!

I'm also a dissatisfied customer of Locnridge here in Louisa, Va. Once you close on your house, no one will return a call or email. Gene is the worst person to deal with. Everything is fix it later. My basement looks like a crawl space. Luckily for me there was a contractor around that was just interested in the company and reported a lot of things that they were doing wrong to the inspectors. Also, my insectors were great at failing what was wrong. My biggest issue is my HVAC. It's always hot. I've been told by other companies and the county that my unit isn't big enough for my house. Still fighting it. I tell any and everyone to stay away from Lockridge!!! They are some of the worst people ever.

If you are thinking about signing a contract with Lockridge homes, think again. I have a review below this one that will show you why I would never let this company build me another home. Once I closed on my home, Lockridge Homes forgot I existed. Two different colors of mortar were used on my brickwork. They called the two different colors “color variation”. Look at the picture of the bricks and decide for yourself. There are several cracks in the walls that keep recurring. I have had to shim three doors so they will close. Hand rails are white vinyl, tied to the brick with a piece of wood that should have been threw in the scrap pile. There are nail pops all over the place. If you visit their Facebook page you will not see any post by happy customers. They quickly remove any negative post. That is why you don't see any. When I let this company build my house I seen some of these warnings on this site but figured it wouldn't happen to me. Boy was I wrong. If you want to see the quality of the craftmanship I received from Lockridge Homes call me. 336-599-****

LOCKRIDGE HOMES NO WHERE TO GO WITH PROBLEMS!

MY HUSBABD AND I BUILT OUR HOME BACK IN 2009 IN RAEFORD NC AND WE ARE HAVING ALL KINDS OF PROBLEMS. I TALK TO MR Gary Clayton AND THERE SEEN TO BE A BIG PROBLEM ABOUT GETTING THINGS DONE TO FIT THE PROBLEMS, ANYONE INTERESTED IN BUILDING HOMES WITH LOCKRIDGE DO YOUR RESEARCH FIRST. I HAD USED TOILETS PUT IN MY BATHROOMS I HAD TO SCRUB AND SCRUB TO GET SOME TYPE OF BLACK STUFF OUT OF THEM. I HAD THEM TO COME OUT 6 MONTH AFTER WE MOVE IN TO PATCH A CRACKING WALL AND CALL THEM AGAIN FOR THE SAME PROBLEM AGAIN NOW I HAVE WALLS CRACKING ALL OVER THE HOUSE, ANDTHERE IS NOTHING YOU CAN DO ABOUT IT. WE HAVE PROBLEMS WITH FLOORS CREEPING WHEN YOU WALK ON THEM. NO ELECTRICAL SOCKETS, IN THE MAIN ENTRANCE. THE PROBLEMS JUST GO ON AND ON I THINK IT’S TIME TO CALL" 5 ON YOUR SIDE WRAL" MAYBE THEY CAN GET SOME RESULTS, AND CAN ACTUALLY TALK TOO SOMEONE. I LOOK LOCKRIDGE UP ON THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU, THEY SUGGEST A LAWYER AFTER SPENDING ALL THIS MONEY FOR A HOME WHO CAN AFFORD A LAWYER. LOCKRIDGE IF YOU ARE READING THIS GIVE ME A CALL, AND STOP SENDING PEOPLE TO LOOK AT MY HOME FROM THE OUTSIDE, THE HALF DONE WORK ON THE INSIDE OF HOME IS THAT IS WHAT THEY SHOULD SEE. I ALMOST PAID SOMEONE $500.00 TO INSPECT MY HOME BEFORE THE 10 YEAR MARK, CHANGE MY MIND BECAUSE I DID NOT KNOW WHERE IN THE WORLD TO SEND THE PAPERWORK. NO ONE IS TAKEN OWNERSHIP FOR THESE PROBLEMS WE ARE HAVING. VERY, VERY UPSET HOMEOWNER JOYCE B. MCNAIR 910-624-****

Do your own investigation

One poster on this site points out that these sites never investigate. Well…. Duh…..This isn’t an investigative site! It is called Pissed Consumer, a site for consumers to warn other potential consumers of companies which did not live up to the consumer’s expectations. If you are planning to do business with one of these companies, it is up to you to do your own investigation. Seeing as to how you are visiting this site, I assume you are doing exactly that. Maybe you are here checking reviews for Lockridge Homes. If that is the case make sure you read my review of Lockridge Homes. It is titled “My Lockridge Home “. It will be a few posts below this one. Click on the pictures and see the quality I received from this company. My home is open to any potential Lockridge Home buyer that wishes to see the craftmanship I received from Lockridge Homes. If I could have visited a home built by Lockridge and the quality was like the quality I received with my home, I would have run away from Lockridge Homes as fast as I could. You must wait ten to eleven months to make a claim on their one year warranty. After they come for repairs and the repairs are not done correctly, you have passed twelve months. When you call for them to come back and correctly repair the problem they say the warranty is past one year and there is nothing they can do. If you are seriously considering building with Lockridge Homes come see my home before you make a down payment. You may save yourself a lot of trouble and heartache. Do your own investigation. Call me at 336-599-**** and we will set a day and time for you to see for yourself what a Lockridge Home is really like. I definitely would not recommend building with Lockridge Homes. 336-599-****…..Feel free to call and investigate.

Recurring problems with cracks in walls

within 30 days of moving in to our home in November 2014, we noticed cracks in the walls and cabinets separating from the ceiling. They came out, did a fix and it was better for a while. Later it came back, they came out again and jacked up a beam, added more support and again it was OK for a while. It came back again. They came out again, added more supports, spackled and painted again and it was OK. This happened over the course of nearly 2 years. We got a leak in our kitchen ceiling because the A/C drain pan seam came apart. I called the warranty people and was told that I did not have the 10 year warranty that came with the home because the builder they subcontracted to went out of business (no wonder!). Now the cracks in the walls are back and I have no recourse. We like a lot of things about our home but the refusal of Lockridge to stand behind their builders should scare anyone away.

I added two pictures today. One shows a crack that Lockridge was willing to repair.

The second picture is of the crack after being repaired for the second time.

Enlarge the picture and you will see the very poor repair work. They call filling a crack with putty...

If you visit the model home in Rolesville be sure to ask for a copy of their ABS Warranty. It must be a joke book, because their warranty is a joke. I will also post more pictures when I get time.

Well, I have given up on Lockridge Homes correcting the problems in my house. The only thing left for me to do is to let my home serve as a model home for potential Lockridge customers.

I think potential customers should see Lockridge quality for themselves.

I will cor...

Today I addded two pictures of the hand rail they installed. I couldn't believe they mixed unpainted wood in with the white vinyl rails.

Look at the piece of wood they used. Did they find it in the scrap pile?

Maybe this is a Lockridge Homes exclusive. Call me at...

The bricks show two different colors of mortar. Lockridge claims this is color variation and is normal, and not covered by warranty.

Probably normal for Lockridge.

I say it is *** poor quality and two different colors of mortar.

The nail pop with the blue tag shows a...

If you are thinking of building a home with Lockridge Homes of Rolesville, NC come see my home first. Call me at 336-599-**** and set up a time to see the poor quality you will receive. I live in the 27574 zip code area. It is too late for me, but maybe not for you. We have nail pops all over the ceiling in almost every room. They are visible, but have not popped through. Lockridge claims they can't fix them because they haven't popped through. There are cracks everywhere that Lockridge says is not their responsibility. If you want a house that has comparable quality to a doublewide, you will love my house. Feel free to call.
