I was scammed by Local Light House for $400.00

I have a small business on the side. I have a website I made myself but I was struggling on how to get it onto search engines. I do not know much about computers. I received a call from them promising they would make a new web page for me, they would get me visible to the public and they would also make sure if someone did a Google search my business/web page would come up on the first page. I made 2 payments to them. They never sent me a contract, they never did a webpage for me either. They were impossible to get ahold of and if you googled my business or name it was still not coming up. So after much frustration I called CHASE Bank and reported them to the Fraud department. That was a waste of time because CHASE took their side !! I received a letter stating they did do a web page for me so they delivered the product. They slapped together some bogus webpage which I NEVER SAW OR RECEIVED. It was very unprofessional and I would have never agreed to it anyway. I was so disappointed in Chase after I shared my story with them and even directed them to the Rip Off Report for Local Light House. Every now and then I still get phone calls from them saying I owe them $800. insane. They are definitely scam artist. not sure why they do not get shut down or fined for robbing people.

Local Lighthouse - Review in SEO and Reputation Management category

Called me over and over. Said they were google, talked me into new web site, it was written by a 2 year old that can not speak proper English. I rewrote the whole thing. Could get changes done. I canceled account. They kept taking money I canceled 4 more times. I had to cancel my cc. Then they changed my business number to the wrong number and have been advertising the wrong number for 1.5 years. I can't get them to take it down.

Local Light House -Russian servers

A little over a year ago I was scammed by Local Light house, they stated they were representative of Google (which turned out to be false) Although they did nice job on website building, took an extra 30 days, they Did not use My Website Name!!!! They gave me a bogus website name, when I tryed to cancel they said their name was better (which was false!!) ,When I stated I would sue, they then linked my website to the bogus one!!!. It worked for a while, but I did not have one customer call!!!after switching.. The website would loose Fonts and sometimes shut down!! Then I discovered an astounding thing- Local Light House was Using Russian Servers!!Under the Servers owners name!! As I did some work for the U.S. Government thru a Small Engineering company. I felt my Information could be compromised to Russian Spy Networks! I immediately closed my account!!They then charged me an additional month to my card without my authorization!! It took 3 months to get the 99.00 Dollars back!! The worst part was they Kept the bogus website up for 3 months!! after I canceled!! Again I emailed and called Multiple times to get it taken down!! after the 4th month website was taken down! I also warned the DOD and White House that Russian Servers maybe monitoring U.S. Military and propriatory Commercial information!! No One responded back!! Just a short time ago it was found that Russia is monitoring us Agencies and commercial businesses doing work for the government!

Local Lighthouse Lost Lawsuit VS Google

I hear that Local Lighthouse finally settle with Google and now is doing business under another name to hide. The owner Erik Oakley is a complete slime ball. I know this because I worked there for a while. They teach you how to scam people. I could not take it and quit. I have a soul and have to look at myself in the mirror every day. I guess these people dont? I guess we all get what we deserve in the end. God sees all and if you live your life scamming others, you shall be judged. I wrote this so no one else gets scammed by local lighthouse.... Buyer beware!!!!! Local Lighthouse Scam

Local Lighthouse called...they refused to settle.

Original review Apr 06, 2016
I thought they were a division of Google so I never questioned them. I spent $750.00 on a *** website they designed. But because I trusted Google, I let it go and waited a couple of months to see how muxh my business would grow....it didn't! I was told my monthly fee would be $40.00 but no they billed my credit card $100.00 Since my credit card statements were paperless It took me a while to realize it. I have asked for my money back on the monthly fees but feel I deserve the web fees too. Come on what kind of website is names....homedecorinlongbeachca.com!

Bad bad bad

Dont do it -- Very disappointing! I was promised things that were not delivered and still had to pay = for no service This company is the biggest scam and the service and sales reps mislead you. They convince you that they are giving you this free website and all it they give you is a landing site that will redirect people to your existing site. Sales rep (Chris Grieder) specifically told me that they make me a complete new website for my business and would no longer need my old site. This was completely false and despite other reps saying that he should not have told me that, there was nothing they could do to let me out of my contract. Worst customer service and business relationship I have encountered in my life. Do not sign anything with this company and if they call you simply hang up.

Misrepresented the facts, Lied and kept charging card after cancelation

I hired Local Lighthouse to do an SEO Campaign for my website. Instead they designed 3 pages and linked them to my website. This is Not what i asked for! They were terrible about returning emails and phone calls. Then after all the conversation i would get nothing. They made it impossible to cancel. Once, I did cancel contract and they kept charging my card anyway. I canceled my card to stop them. I did get them to refund 2 of the extra charges. it took hours and a dozen phone calls. Then they deleted all the links to my website (there work and my web designers work) and all the info i had paid them for was gone. Right or wrong! Now that is customer service!!

Scam

They do nothing but charge your credit card. They guarantee your rankings then make up reports to show your number 1. They only will talk to you by phone, never anything in writing because they have nothing to stand behind. They have a sales pitch to speak of how great they are and that customers will find your new site. Zero!!!! When you try and cancel, they tell you how great your placement is, even though there is no proof of your placement.

Scammed my 79 year old father and is still harassing him

I work with my dad in a small business. He received a high pressure sales call from Local Lighthouse promising many things including a high tech website geared toward our customers for $99 (this website is a joke). That is what my dad thought it cost for a year. The guy on the phone agreed, got my dad's credit card number, and talked him through the docusign which my dad signed in an 'oral' agreement with the guy on the phone and "not at all" to what was on the docufile in writing that literally didn't show up on my dad's computer because he has the images enlarged so he can see them (due to impaired eyesight); he never saw the other part of the document. His business doesn't make enough money to support anything more than $99 a year for a website service and my dad knows that and wouldn't have agreed anything else. We fought his through his credit card company, wrote a letter to Local Lighthouse as THEY REQUESTED, asked to cancel our agreement due to a LIE, and we are now being harassed by their collection agency for $427.55. This place will lie to you and your loved ones. They say you can cancel anytime if you are not happy- that is a LIE. Small businesses like my dad's could take a serious hit trying to deal with these corrupt practices. Do NOT believe anything they say and warn others to stay away from them. They took advantage of a senior citizen and they will take advantage of you.

Resolved: Local Lighthouse Staff Review from Pretoria, Gauteng

In this comment above you see a response from a young girl by the name of "Vanessa" who is in charge or "reputation management" at Lcoal Lighthouse. She will basically take every negative remark made about the company, flip it around to be the exact opposite, and claim the accusations being made are false. When 99 people to 1 say that the service is a scam, you can very well guess this isn't a case of crying wolf. I left the company after being there for almost a year on the sales floor boiling room, due to the fact that not ONE of my clients was RANKING or HAPPY. Thanks, Sincerely, Local Lighthouse Destroyer.

Local Lighthouse Search Engine Optimization Review from Lake Forest, California

This is honestly one of the worst seo companies I have came across. I used to work there and what I saw made me feel sick. I seen how the operations are ran and a large percentage of the businesses not seeing any ROI. A lot of their cancellations are from small business that are struggling to survive. They are expecting their $99 a month investment with this company to bring them more money. They cancel because they cannot afford it. The reps guarantee a large increase in new business which is not the case. The "complimentary" website is a very generic and low budget. A 16 year old can develop it. They claim its a special but this is their everyday package. Do not allow the sales rep to sale you on how its a "Special Today Only." Take your time and research. High Pressure Sales: The sales reps there are working for commission only. They do not get paid hourly. They will try to close business owners as quick as possible. This tactic is used so people will not have the chance to do their research and see all the negative reviews. It also prevents your average business owner the time to really review the terms and conditions. They claim they can have you ranking on the first pages of Google within 90 days or they will work for free. False! Read the terms and conditions on their website. It says if you are not ranking on Google, Yahoo or Bing. Over 80% of the business that are their clients are not ranking on Google. If you are not ranking on Google but if you are ranking on Bing, they will not work for free. The only way you are guaranteed to rank is if you are in a niche market with a low population. For example you will not rank if you are in a major city such as New York, LA, Miami or Chicago for example. If you have a lot of competitors in your area you will also not rank. You probably will after 12-18 months. They trained their sales reps to tell people they are Google partners when they are far from it. They use a automated system to call cellphones and residential homes which is illegal. The automated system says press 1 to speak to a Google+ specialist. This tactic is used to confuse people intentionally. People automatically assume they are going to speak to a Google rep. They had a "F" ranking on the BBB until June 2015. They just paid the BBB mid June for the "A" rating that they have now. The office is a broiling room. All upper management talks about is sales sales sales. Break records break records. They do not genuinely care about their employees. Its all politics in that office. I hope this helps you make an educated decision.

Warning!!!! NOT A PART OF GOOGLE!!!!

First and foremost let me explain their sales people (mine was Brain) will say anything to get you to sign up. After you sign up they will not let you out of the agreement unless you pay a termination fee. I spent countless hours on the phone with them week after week, Lies after Lies. Their only Job is to make it so you can't cancel. I am 3 months into this and today I offered to pay them in advance for the rest of my contract and all I wanted was a cancelation number and they wouldn't do it. The reason I believe they will not do this is because after my contract expires they will do everything possible to continue to bill me. Let me explain how this works. Local Lighthouse told me they where a Google Partner and could get me on the first page of Google, Bing and Yahoo within 90days. My rep. Brian said it would actually take a month. He told me a could check the status through localparc.com He told me his company believed so strong in what they were doing they had an actually agreement that stated they would get me on page one. In the agreement I was asked to pick 3 key phrases when someone types into a search engine (Google) my company would appear. I called my rep Brain back with questions and asked him if the user would have to type in the town or the county into the search engine. EX. Tree Services in Orange Town. Brian told me that was a crazy question, No one would every type in the town or county after the key word. This is a huge lie and the most important thing. ALL THE REPORTS THAT ARE GENERATED ARE BASED ON YOUR KEY WORDS AND IN WHATEVER TOWN and STATE YOU ARE ADVERTISING. To me this isn't SEO its creating a really long domain name that very few people will find. In comparison if you own a Pizza Shop and live in Medford the end user will have to type in Pizza Shop in Medford NJ to find this site verses typing in Pizza Shop. In this comparison key words pizza shop may have 100,000 searches were Pizza Shop in Medford NJ may have less then 100. That's what Local light house is doing. It took Local light house about a month to get localparc.com up and running for my account as soon as I saw that my 3 keywords were followed by the words (in, my city and state I contacted Local Light House, again they lied and said in my town, NJ was used so from their location in CA they would have to type in ex. Pizza Shops in Medford, NJ to see where my company rated. Then latter when I called them back they said " in the town and state is part of the keywords. I have asked every time to speak with my rep Brain and have been declined and forced to deal with other reps. I was very polite with them today and the rep I spoke to told me the sales department has misrepresented the company. Then I was transferred to the cancelation company(4th transfer of the day) The manager who I spoke to said I was under contract and there was nothing she could do. I very polite told her that as a business owner if my sales staff lies to get a sale and I find out they are fired and I make it right with my customer that is how respectable businesses operate. The second you lie to your customer about being a Google Partner and make false promises then when customers find out you are lying and try to cancel you use a contract to make it so they can't leave you should find another job. My contact number is 609.321.0714 and my email is Danielc1548@***.com. My name is Daniel. I will be contacting lawyers and if others have had similar experiences I will talk to my attorneys about a class action suit. In my eyes what they are doing is wrong and someone needs to do something about this. When you tell someone you are Google or a Google Partner and are not you are creating Fraud. In addition I will be contacting Google and Google Legal Department. If anyone else is doing anything or filing anything please let me know as I would like to be involved. Thanks, Daniel

No traffic to my main website and canceling contract was a nightmare.

I did my due diligence before signing a 6 month contact for $99 a month and a $99 setup fee. I have a health product I sell from my own website and wanted to get more traffic to it to make more sales. I am also a web designer and wanted control over the look of the website they would create for me and during the sales calls they said I would. I told them that if this test with them went well I would be sending them my own clients. (Hint: I'm never going to send ANYBODY to them, EVER!) After they built a website on a domain that they own, I wanted to make a variety of changes. I even sent them CSS code already written and images and a long list of instructions. At this point they said they couldn't make these changes because they have "Google approved" templates that can not be changed! I fought with them and fought with them, and kept sending them code and instructions. Eventually they caved on several but the majority of the changes were never implemented. After a couple of months, I kept checking my stats and the website they built was getting and was very disappointed in the traffic to it. When I could show them the poor traffic, they would then make a tweak to the site, change words to a button, etc. After 6 months the site they build received a total of 89 visits and 283 page views! That's it! That is what I received for $700. So about 6 weeks ago, I called to find out when my contact would be ending so i could cancel when the term of the contract was over. Well, I should have read their terms online instead of trusting the person on the phone because it clearly says that: "When cancelling service with Local Lighthouse, USER must call in and receive a cancellation confirmation/confirmation number 15 days prior to USER’s anniversary billing date before service can be terminated. USER agrees that any charges incurred prior to cancellation are valid. " So, they got me for another $99 because I didn't call BEFORE the contract was up. The person I got on the phone said I had to wait until after the contract was over (July 5th) to cancel. Today is July 6th so I called to cancel. Well, canceling was an absolute nightmare!!! I WARN YOU... They have layers of people you have to go through to cancel. Each time they put you on hold to "review your account" then each one gives you a pitch about their SEO audit that can help determine what is wrong "so you don't lose your investment". I was nice to the original woman but starting getting a bit annoyed when she said that I should have had my customers put reviews on my Google+ account. I said that it would have been nice if they had told me that 6 months ago. She gave me another sales pitch and I said "I appreciate you trying to keep my business but you should have been trying to keep my business for the last 6 months. Please just cancel my account." After a little more back and forth she finally put me on hold and transferred me to a gentleman who I thought was going to cancel the account... but NO! This was another sales pitch to keep keep me from "losing my investment". I kept saying I just wanted to cancel my account, he kept saying one more reason I should stay with them, I said cancel, he said something else, I started getting annoyed and raising my voice, he kept talking... I must tell you, that I can not remember EVER screaming at anyone, not in my personal life and never on the phone... I ended up screaming into the phone, "Just cancel my account. NOW. Not another word! Just say yes you will cancel my account. No, not another word!" Over and over... Then he laughed at me!!! HE LAUGHED! And he said he'd give me a discount on their SEO audit services. ARRRGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!! Finally, FINALLY, he said that he would have to transfer me to the department who could process my cancellation! He didn't even have authority to cancel it!!! So, I was on hold for another maybe 10 minutes when he said that department was busy and I could sit on hold or they could call me back in 10 minutes. I asked to be called back... No surprise, they didn't. So then I called them back in about a 1/2 hour. I told the first person that I already went through all their sales pitches and I just need to talk to the cancellation department. He transferred me, I am put on hold so she can review my account, she comes back to say I'm in the wrong department and she'll transfer me! I get to the next woman, and guess what... more sales pitches. And she keeps reducing the price until she is down to $19 a month! From $99 a month they are now down to $19 a month plus a free SEO audit. She says she has "more authority" to do this then the other people I talked to. I finally just get her to cancel my order, and per the terms and conditions page, ask her for my cancellation number and she says it's just my account number! She says I'll receive an email confirmation soon... which I have now received. All-in-all I was on the phone almost an hour and spoke with 6 different people. Bottom line: They did what they said they would do as far as getting my search terms #1 to #3 in the major search engines. The problem is the traffic this generates goes to the website they own and the click through rate to my website was 1. That's right. Of the 89 visits to their website, only 1 clicked through to mine. And that's what I got for my $792.00 ($99 a month for 6 months, plus $99 for setup, plus and extra $99 because I did what I was told on the phone and didn't cancel in time to stop it. I'm sure this service can work for some businesses. They are smart about the way they word their contracts so they can't get sued. I'll never deal with them again.

Resolved: Smam Artists! Stay Away!!!

I own a small event planning business and received a call from Mac Nguyen from Local Lighthouse. I had been thinking about how to boost my ranks so I spoke with him. He and I got onto Google and we started discussing some other local planners who showed up high in the rankings on the first page. He told me that within 90 days, my business name would be above their names. I believed him. I told him I loved my website and I didn't want it to change and he said it wouldn't. So I signed up with them at $99/month. Shortly thereafter, I realized that Mac was not truthful with me, and I was, indeed, getting a new website. They then sent me the most generic website that I would be mortified for any potential clients/brides to see. I had numerous discussions with them and explained that I felt mislead and although they did try to make changes to the new website, it was still awful. Even then, I stuck with it for over 90 days - just to see where it would be ranked. About 95 days into it, I still could not find the new website anywhere in the rankings. When I called to cancel, I spoke with Robert, who refused to cancel my account unless I paid my remaining, contracted 2 months in full. He said that I could be found on Yahoo and Bing IF you also enter my zip code into the search engine. Who searches like that? I still haven't found myself anywhere. And of course, I'm still not on the first page of Google like I was promised by Mac. But even if I was, nobody would find me anyway because they would have to enter my zip code to find me. And at this point, I don't want to be found anyway because that website is so embarrassing. Robert said he was a manager and basically, there was nothing I could do. It was like he was reading from a script. I was definitely naïve for not doing my homework on this company but I don't want anyone to make the same mistake I did. Steer clear of the company! They will mislead you just do get your money. By far, they are the most unprofessional company I have ever dealt with in my life.
