Pay my bill

Not really a big complaint, more of a "Hey guy's, I think there is a better way". I tried to pay my normal 6 months and could not get that option. It wanted me to pay just one month. On another note- About 1.5 years ago I came home from one of my jobs and went to the unit to get some things. The lock on my door had been changed and of course I did not get have a key for it. I went to the office and the lady who helped me seemed like she was not really willing to help me out. I had her come to the unit with me with new locks and we cut the lock on my door. I was not as shocked as I normally would have been to find I was missing a 3,000.00 dollar plasma cutter, a compressor, a portable band saw, a industrial vacuum and a welding cart. The employee did not seemed surprised either. I asked her if she had seen this happen before and she said she could not tell me anything. I did contact the Gilbert police and they said they would come down and do a report but they have never had good luck at your facility with stolen property. I was shocked to here the policeman say it like that. It sounded like it has happened there many times before. I was discouraged and decided to let it go. I do think your organization needs to investigate that site. I bet you might find an employee or 2 involved in some of that activity. enough of that, just making your company aware of some issues without causing a big stir. I know I will not be so calm and forgiving if it happens again. Thank you, Dennis Lorance

I have been paying $313 while they advertise $250.Im retired on social security and I don’t think this is right.

Dont I have complained to the office. She doesnt listen except to say they generate the area and make their prices according to everyone else. It cost me $348 to first move in. Then my space was $291 and they added insurance without asking or having me sign so now Im paying $313 while online the price of my unit is $250. Ive been here a year. I would love to post photos to show how it gets wet from the downspout when it comes a hard rain which is next to my unit!!

Illegal tactics

I gave Life Storage, located at 10429 Jefferson Avenue, Newport News, VA 23605, my 30-day notice of my vacating the storage. In fact, I gave them a 36-day notice. However, they deactivated my PIN well before my payment became due. I moved because when I first rented the storage 14 months ago, it was $50. They kept increasing my rent almost every other month. By the time I vacated the storage, my rent was $170. When I went to clear out my storage, all of my items had rodent *** EVERYWHERE!!! My sofa, bedroom dresser, headboard, mattress, bar stool, bar stool chairs, computer desk, office chair, 4 pairs of sneakers, 75-inch TV, clothes, etc. were literally destroyed by rodent *** (rat *** I had to throw all of those things away. My 75-inch TV was destroyed. Besides the rat *** I'm guessing the rats had urinated on the TV because it would not turn on. The rat *** was so bad, it stained everything. Worse, Life Storage CLAIMED to be climate control, but what rat *** didn't destroy, the mold did. The smell was horrible and made my brother, mom's boyfriend, and me vomit. It smelled like death! I couldn't believe how bad it smelled and how damaged my belongings were in a unit that was supposed to be climate controlled. Anyway, I savaged some clothes, but I had to throw everything else away. I threw away all the items damaged beyond repair. I had insurance I purchased through Life Storage and took pictures of everything. Furthermore, I also paid my last month's payment. Shockingly, the insurance company denied my claim because one of the totes had a bottle of lotion in it. The lotion bottle was intact too! In fact, the tote the lotion was in was one of the only 2 totes I was able to salvage! The lotion did not spill or leak on anything, but the insurance company claimed because it was a liquid, my claim was denied. I got out as much stuff as I could the day I went there. We had to leave a couple of bags because Life Storage was closing. I closed the storage up and locked it. Even though I had already submitted my notice, I figured since I was paid up, it would be okay for me to return to get the 2 bags in a couple of days. When I returned, my PIN did not work. I called the office repeatedly during business hours and no one answered. My mom went there twice during business hours, and they were closed. All the calls and visits occurred over the course of a week. I When I finally got someone on the phone, the male was hostile and extremely disrespectful. The male I spoke to hung up on me. So, the frenzy of calls started again. I was finally able to speak to a female. She wasn't as hostile as the first person I spoke to, but just as UNHELPFUL. She told me I had to get the lock off the unit and they (Life Storage) would continue to charge me until I did so. I told her my mom would be there to get the lock off the unit the following day. When my mom went to get the lock off the unit the next day, she learned my PIN had been deactivated! For several days, I called multiple times and my mom went to the office at least 3 times on separate days. All calls and visits were during business hours. My mom went twice on a Saturday and the other 2 times on a weekday. Fast-forward to today, Life Storage mailed a total of 6 letters saying I am in default! 3 of the letters were addressed to my mom. When my mom opened the letters, they had my bill information in them. My mom NEVER spoke to them and never gave them her information. My mom did NOT rent the unit with me and NEVER paid the bill. I only gave Life Storage her name so that when she went there to get the lock off the unit, they would know who she was. Those people literally sent letters to my mom for me. If I could, I would give that garbage place negative stars! I plan to look into their illegal debt collection practices. Also, Life Storage, located at 10429 Jefferson Avenue, Newport News, VA 23605, lies about climate control! They have a rat infestation!

Store manager/safety/move/charge issues

I was renting a 10x20 and rented a u-haul and hired movers to move furniture to my new residence and transfer remaining items to a 5x10 in the same facility. The transfer of items from one unit to another went into the evening. The new space was interior. There was NO LIGHTING in the hallways nor in the storage space. I immediately called Life to ask they address this urgently and have someone call me back right away. No one did. I found a small camping light for the hallway. The movers did their best but not being able to see, could not place everything and had to leave a shelf unit and chair out, along with a few miscellaneous donation items. Not being able to see, the movers took much longer to finish what they could. It cost me significantly more for their services. I had called U-haul to see if I could keep the truck and try to finish the next day but the truck was not available. So, I had to leave the few items in the old unit. I was unable to find someone to help me move the remaining items out until the 6th day following the billing cycle on the first unit. I rented a U-haul van and got the remaining things out of the 10x20 and went to the office to confirm I was out and that the monthly charge would be pro-rated. I was told the 5-day period had expired and there would be no pro-ration. I pointed out that I would have been out if the lights had been working in the new unit building. Doug, the manager, said there was nothing he could do. Given that the delay was due to the lack of lighting at Life Storage (not to mention the safety issuers), it is WRONG not to pro-rate the 10x20 unit rent!!! This situation is patently unfair.

Life Storage Closed due to construction

I rented Life Storage in Worcester, MA as it was closed for few weeks due to construction from storm. Life Storage NEVER informed me what was going on. I went there to get things I really need! And they prolonged the reopening date. I contacted the manager as they explained that they werent informed of any progress either. I find that very rude to leave us in the dark. I sure hope Im not being charged for monthly storage. That being said, I did called Life Storage customer service and they told me that theyll call me once they have full answer which they never did. What can Life Storage do to solve this mess?

Not providing functioning facility

This company must be going under. The facility I rent at has no functioning security system for entry. The place is wide open. The elevators are not working now. Office staff are no help. Regional manager dies not answer his phone. Corporate does not respond to emails. Incredibly bad.

Payment for parking spot

June 4, 2023, I Victor Washington attempted to make payment on line with 2 different credit cards which the online system wouldn't allow me to pay with different cards. June 5, 2023, I went in to the office and explained my issue which the young guy stated the system wouldn't allow payment to be processed with 2 different credit cards. He also said that they're no longer allowing us to make payments in the office. He suggested that I leave a check and have my bank transfer my cash from the cards to my checking account to cover check which I did. June 6, 2023, The young man called me and said I need to come get my check because I'm not allowed to pay with check because of too many returned checks. I then processed the payment on line for my storage unit and parking space. Once I got to the office, the young man said I need to make the payment which I told him I already did. He revealed to me that I owed more because the parking spot hasn't been paid. I debated the issue because I knew I paid my monthly charge and had/have a receipt showing I paid on line. I then asked to speak to a manager but to no avail. I called the 1800 number and talked to someone who told me someone will contact me but to no avail. I finally went back into the office on the 16th of June and finally talked to Mrs. Williams who didn't have any understanding of my situation and said either I pay or lose it. I asked Mrs. Williams to speak to her manager and she said she is the manager. I stated I will contact Fox 2 news to investigate this issue because I felt cheated. She then said her manager is Some new lady name Michelle but she don't know her last name. I then went on line and found Mrs. Michelle Cowin, which there is no way to contact her. I'm asking for someone other then Mrs. Williams call me to resolute this issue about my payment and my online payment issues. Thanks

Store 606 could not make change, now they want 34.00 late fees & 6.00 io

I went in to pay my bill about 10 days ago my bill was $206 all I had was hundreds. the girl couldn't make change. so I gave her two $100 bills and told her the next time I was in the area I'll drop off the $6 she said okay and gave me a receipt. I went in to pay the $6 today being the 16th and the kid behind the counter told me I owe $6 plus $34 late fee. I'm 70 years old handicap and I have been a loyal customer for 10 years plus and family members of units there as well. you're going to get me for $34 late fee I think that is ridiculous and not right. I'll be more than happy to pay the $6, but I think the $34 late fee is totally out of line. Store number 606 upper unit e 017 My name is jerry battista.Thank you

Failing company

Unresponsive to repairing the building. Insufficient number of carts. Only one elevator working. Keypads not working. Office staff frequently not there. When they are they are no help. There is no way to contact corporate except by sending a message that they dont respond to.

Constant price hikes with nothing to show for it

Store #195 San Marcos Texas has raised its rates on 5x10 Climate control from 88.0 2/22 to 162.0 6/23 this is a old storage facility once locally owned by Bobs storage life storage bought it some years ago.its old no updates have been done simple things like the main door stopper in my section have never been fixed and yet the rates go up and up Im moving to a brand new facility same thing only new 85.0 two year lock price guarantee.. This company will rob you blind..

I closed my account

Every time I call store 104 I get a machine no one answers. Ill call customer service and I get the same message. No one answers, so how can I get an answer or status on my storage ban after I have closed my account cleaned it out, so can someone get back with me About my bin 4324 at Landover life storage on Pennsy Drive the name is Lisa Taylor, phone number 240472**** please call and give me status. I am waiting for someone to check the storage and close my account. I closed it in April. Thank you.

Complaint

I currently have no transportation, I left work to pay my bill on my break (I live and work in a different town) but when I arrived to pay my bill, no one was at the desk to take my payment, they said they'd be back at 1:00 PM I waited as long as I could before I had to get back to work, they froze my account, so I am unable to pay over the phone or online, now they're trying to charge me extra for being late,and it isn't my fault.

Towing of my vehicle bad tow contract

Their customer service could do absolutely nothing except pass the message on to someone else . After 48 hours. Find another place for your storage needs . Life storage has raised my rent by $60 a month since I got my units 2 years ago . The place is a Dump . A disgusting mess . Waste of every kind dumped wherever anybody wants . Rat infested too. Any unit left open after someone moves out Has rat *** everywhere. The manager is never there . There is almost never anyone there that you can talk to . RUN , run away .
