Scam/Fraud

Received a phone call and voicemail from 832-430-**** stating there are pending charges involving my name and social. If I don"t call back they will move forward with the case. I call back, they say they are issuing 2 felony warrants for my arrest for some payday loan I supposedly took out in another state and repaid with a bad checking account. All false. When I started to ask for more information, he got upset and told me good luck at my bond hearing and hung up (haha).

Called me at work and my daughter

a phone number from Altoona, PA would leave me a message stating they are a mediation service attempting to collect a debt. Called my place of work and my daughter. I called the # and Ms Johnson stated that I had gotten an online Payday loan in 2011 and did not pay it back. That it was with a Gateway Holdings Company. I tried explaining that I did do a payday loan in the past but paid it off and it I have never heard of this company. I have never received anything in the mail stating I owed anything. She repeated my address and the street address was correct but the city was incorrect. I informed her that it was incorrect but did not give her the correct city. She kept over talking me. I asked again and again to please send me something stating I owed this debt but she informed me that they are not a billing company and would send me a letter stating I paid the debt but could not send me anything in writing that I owed. After questioning her further she became aggravated and told me she had my social security # and if she wanted to do something that was not legitimite she could. Then recited my ss# to me correctly. Then told me she was calling to make a settlement for a lesser value than what was owed but seeing as I was refusing to pay she would procede with moving forward with the judgement. I explained that I was just trying to understand what was going on. She told me I admitted that I took the loan out. I said "Ma'am! I did not admit that I owed I just said I had taken a loan out in the past." She then hung up on me. I called back got another girl tried to explain to her and that I did not want to speak to Ms Johnson and she then told me I need to speak to the case worker in charge of that file. Put me on hold for 4 minutes then I was disconnected.(Hung up on) I called back and it goes from the intro to "on-hold" music. I feel like its a scam but the fact that she knew my ss# terrifies me. If anyone has an input would be appreciated. 844-350-****

Scam Job

Called and said I owed money from 6 years ago. Said either pay up now or States Attorney will haul me to jail. Telephone number called from 727-350-****....had part of my information and where I worked and where I use to live. Said that unless I make a deal right then for $1100 to them I would be visited by the police for fraud and stealing. The lady was rude and nasty and slammed the phone down on me. Lots of clutter and confusion in the background. Was on the do not call list. I tried to look up on internet about the company and they are given a horrible rating along with the same kind of reviews I just gave. They are scams and never once mentioned they were a debt collector.

I was called by Legal Mediation Practice

A woman came on and told me she was going to take me to court but gave me no reason as to why. She only said documents have been filed. She wanted my Social Security and my Birthdate. I refused on both as if they were a real collection agencey they would already have this info. I asked for her direct phone number and at that time she hung up on m. Prior to me speaking when she called I just listened to her and other ppl in the office talking and very unprofessional subjects before I said hello. Her number from my cell is 904-775-**** from my phone

Mediation Services: Harrassment and servious threats as well as racial and Homophobic slurs

Both my wife and I Received a call from Richard Bates of Mediation Services 859402**** out of Lexington Ky. The call as most of you know, threatened legal action against me for a debt from 2012 that has never existed. The caller was aggressive and advised us to seek legal council. When I called back and informed the person who answered that I was aware of his scam he called me a criminal. I told him if this legal action was indeed legit to send me correspondence and bring it on. He then hung up. I called back and the next man who answered immediately began utilizing racial and homophobic slurs and literally yelled at me. I called again to assure I was taken off call list. The moment I called he picked up and called me a name too bad to repeat and hung up. This is harassment of law abiding citizen. Its been going on for a while and no one seems to be taking action in order to stop these predators. People have enough stress than to have to deal with scam artist thugs such as this and serious legal charges should be brought against these bottom dwelling individuals. WHAT HAS OUR COUNTRY COME TO? Harassing myself and other veterans as well as other hard working individuals need to cease now!

Scam artists - Legal Mediation

This # 678-701-**** called from Atlanta area saying my niece was being sued and she needed to reach her ASAP. They said they got my cell # from a family member that did not have her #. That is total bull and I would strongly suggest that you all file a complaint with the FCC. It is very easy to do, just go to their website. Only takes a minute. If you give these people the time of day they will continue to prey on less saavy consumers. Put them out of business ASAP. I say if you need money "GO GET A REAL HONEST LEGAL JOB". Now go file that complaint with the Federal Communications.

Legal Mediation Practice Debt Collection Review from Cabot, Arkansas

First I received a voicemail stating legal action filed against me. Called# (Kentucky 859 area code)back spoke to a female Tracy Walker who stated if issue was not resolved today by 4:00 central time,I would be picked up and charged with check fraud. Both she and I recorded the conversation. I had not had an account with Bank of America in over 8 yrs. They would not disclose location supposedly due to security. They also said there were only two ways to pay debit or credit card. She gave me three options of paying off $1,703. I explained that I did not have the funds so she said we could settle for $908, 425 payments, or pay a downpayment of $270 today. I will file a complaint with the BBB and Attorney Generals Office.

Legal Mediation Services

I just got a call from this company located in Kentucky. The lady I spoke with then continued to read off my social security number, my email address, and one of my previous addresses. She told me I was set to be prosecuted for malicious intent...she was cordial until I started asking more questions. The name of her company, the location this supposed "loan" originated from and the dates. She said she would turn the case over to the states attorney. I told her I needed to call my husband and she said if we get off the phone today without setting up a payment plan and making the first payment today she would send the case over. Then she rudely hung up on me. The phone number she called me from was (859)215-****.

THE COMPANY'S ADDRESS & CONTACT NAMES

Before going straight to the names and address, please consider doing the following the next time they call you... The moment you answer the call, begin recording it and tell the caller RIGHT AWAY that you will be recording the conversation. The trick is to have your own voice at the BEGINNING of the recording saying that you are recording the conversation. After you inform them of this, repeat the caller's name to clarify, while recording, who you are speaking with and again state that you have made them aware that they are being recorded. If you are being called at your work place, and want them to cease calling you there, tell them immediately. I would then inform them that the only future communication I will accept from them or any of their agents or affiliates must be in writing. In addition I would demand that immediately cease all contact your employers, relatives, or friends for any collection practices that relate to you. If you want questions answered, ask your questions while they know they are being recorded. For instance: What is the reason for your call? What is the date of the alleged debt? Who is the original lender? What is your internal reference number? Are you an attorney? If you are not an attorney, who legally represents your company? I understand that you are demanding that I pay you $_______ by 12:00 pm (or whatever time you were told) today, is that correct? Are you familiar with FDC Rules and regulations? So, now you have notified them that you are recording the call, and you have told them to never again contact you, your employer, relatives, or friends by telephone. If they attempt any ofthose forms of contact again, you have the right to pursue this matter legally through an attorney familiar Fair Debt Collection Rules and Regulations, and you have recorded evidence that may aid you in a suit against them. Also, if you do have an attorney, you have the right to inform the caller that they are NOT to speak with you and should direct ALL calls to your attorney only. But, I would take it one step further, and send them a cease and desist letter (you can find them all over the place online) and I would mail it Certified Mail, Return Receipt Requested. Now, I don't claim to know every state's laws, so it would beneficial to look into the Fair Debt Laws to confirm what I have typed, to be sure this information is helpful to you. So, that said, I did my own homework and found another posting which I have copied and pasted below. Hope this helps.
