Terrible customer support

Customer service in Pooler Ga was unacceptable! Would never recommend this store to anyone and would never shop there again !

Resolved!

We ordered a recliner from LZB six months ago. We were told it would be built in a few months. After five months, I tried to talk to them about when it would be done and was told that the fabric was unavailable and holding up the commencement of the build. I asked if we could choose another material and was told no, and if we canceled the order, there would be a restocking fee of 30%. 30% restocking fee for a chair that was not yet built? This made no sense, and the people at the store showed zero empathy. They had my $900.00 deposit and couldnt care less. The chair itself was $1800.00, so the restocking fee would be about $600.00 for a chair that was not even started to be built. This was not acceptable. I notified my credit card company and placed a dispute on the sale. After one month, Chase Bank refunded my deposit, and LZB had to eat it. I highly recommend going this route if its an option for you. Their business practices are very shady. This company used to have a good reputation, but they are complete and utter garbage regarding customer service or care. I will never consider another purchase from this company that clearly does not value its customers. After reading other reviews, I feel like I dodged a bullet by not getting this chair. Help with warranty

I want someone to talk me thru step by step on how to get sync the remote and chair... It is very irritating not to be able to get it to work.

Worst repair service. Brand new love seat repaired but damaged parts were not Taken out of my house. Very rude repair man that serviced my love seat. Would never recommend buying any furniture.

New love seat damaged. Very rude repair man. Never told broken frame repaired would not be taken out of my house. Told my responsibility to have frame trash was my responsibility.

Return 2 recliners

I bought 2 recliners with custom upholstery. When we sit in them they are causing extreme upper back pain from too much hard cushion. I cant tolerate mine without a heating pad on my back to sit in it. Our chairs are not the same chairs we ordered. The designs are not the same. The stuffing is hard and not soft. I went to the store with pictures to prove they are not the chairs we ordered. The rep said well if they cant get the new upholstery to fit they make another chair to fit the upholstery. The manager is giving us a really hard time. I had a repair person come out because the foot rest is not stable and juggles back and forth. I had to wait for this person so of course I missed the 3 day return policy. The manager is basically not going to do anything. Its been 2 weeks now and he was suppose to call me after he spoke with repair company and get a report. So here I am still not able to use our chairs. Can you help me figure out a solution to fix this. I spent a lot of money to sit here is pain this chair Store: Lazy Boy. Duarte, California.

Delivery of a broken couch

Today is May, 2023. October 2022 Lazy Boy furniture delivered our furniture we paid $6,000 dollars for. The couch was delivered broken, they knew it and called us on delivery day to say we are ordering a new couch. Four service repair people have come to my home. I am taking time off work. And still today we have a broken couch.

Getting nowhere with calls and texts and store

Case {{Redacted}} Jane Giese Zip: {{Redacted}} jgiese001@***.com We ordered a new Lazy Boy couch with a cuddle cushion on 9/28/2021. Cost: $2419.70. Ordered from Home Furniture in Plover, WI. The couch was delivered on 10/27/2022. After going back to the store and talking to them about wrinkles in the fabric (two weeks later), they just said it was normal wear but would send pictures to the service center. Normal wear after two weeks??? Come on!!! Home furniture owner texted me in December (9th) and said that the wrinkles are normal, use your fingers to smooth them out. What? A BRAND NEW COUCH for the price we paid and we should smooth out the wrinkles with our fingers after two weeks of owning it??? Considered normal wear!!! I continued to call the service center and text them as well with pictures of cushion and tags from bottom of the couch. I hoped LazyBoy would step up. Nothing happens. They say they will call back but never do. So once a week I call customer service and tell my side and hope something will happen. Always they say it is normal wear. I did finally talk to a supervisor who said she would let me know in two days what they would do, She never called me back, per usual. And in it goes, week after week. The cuddle side is now also groaning as if something is broken and the company does nothing. I have been calling and/or texting Lazy Boy since shortly after we received our cuddle couch in late October, 2022. The cuddle cushion has wrinkles since we received it. The store would do nothing and I keep getting the run around from Lazy zBoy customer care. What is going on and why does Lazy Boy not back their products?? Cans to fix chair today after waiting 4 months.. the repair tech from tri county furniture and service and holy *** the chair is Still not fixed.

Bought two recliners , 1,600 each. Power motion with heat and massage. One recliner worked , one came defective, massage and heat is not functioning correctly. Called service and this brand new product cannot be serviced for two months. After waiting two months a repair person came out and was unable to repair the chair. A new one was ordered, that came broken after waiting another 3 months and needed immediate repair. Now just owning these chairs for one year both are broken again since February we are still waiting for them to be repaired. Do yourself a favor. Stay far far away from this company. The initial quality is terrible and the warranty service is even worse.

Complaint

Non responsive. My chair was not delivered due to damage. No one can give me any information about where my chair is and when it will be delivered. The store manager says she has no information when I call her. She asks me what I have heard. Its unbelievable how a store manager cannot get any information. It has been 5 weeks now since I was suppose to have delivery and no one has information. I dont know if they are just repairing the arm or I am getting a new chair. I dont know anything. I will never purchase anything from Lazboy again. Very frustrating not being able to get any answers from anyone. All I get is I dont know. How is that for customer service???

Ordered chair 6/21/22, delivered 9/24/22 in NJ. Moved to FL 11/1/22. Had to have repair in January 2023 for broken piece of wood. Today is 3/23/23 and chair leg (same as in January 2023) will not go up. I had to pay for service call $80.25 which I see under my Power 5 Year Protection Plan should be covered. I will need, again, to have repairs done. Please contact me at 732-245-**** or at above email regarding this complaint. Total COST OF CHAIR $2889.51!!!

Was told 2 weeks ago that Corporate felt the chair backs were acceptable and the arms would be replaced on both chairs. This doesn’t make sense, the backs are worse.

Was given 2-4 weeks.

Have no confidence this will ever happen. Keeping track to see if I am correct.

Do not recommend you buy ANYTHING from Laz-boy. Ordered 2 club style recliners, took 3 months to get. After getting home and unwrapping them, it was obvious how bad of a job they did in making these chairs. It was either a beginner or someone with a hangover. Very poor craftsmanship. Took pictures and the next day went into the store. Was told the store manager was gone and given 2 business cards to contact customer with a problem! Since now 1.5 months have gone buy and this Company cannot give us an answer as to replacing our chairs, we now want our money back!!! Have NO confidence that the replacement chairs will be any better quality. Paid 3000. (on sale) for chairs that are of very poor quality. Another fact that has come to light is that NO ONE from the store informed us that these chairs could be returned within 3 days from acceptance for a refund! WILL NEVER DO BUSINESS AGAIN WITH LAZ-BOY AND AM MAKING SURE THAT ANYONE WE KNOW LOOKING AT FURNITURE DOESN'T EITHER.

Poor Qualitty

After 6 months of denial by Lazyboy that my less than year old chair was defective, they replaced it. The replacement recliner is an upgraded leather. Less than a year of having it, the color is rubbing off on the leg rest, arms and headrest. I tried cleaning the chair with their product and the color peeled off. I have not contacted Lazyboy about this because of the long and stressful experience I had last time. They actually replied to my complaint on this site, PissedConsumer, that I wasnt being truthful, yet shortly after replaced the chair. Ive resigned myself to the fact that I threw away $2,500 and will never buy from Lazyboy again.

Poor Cutsomer Service

In January 1998 I purchased a Lazy Boy Rocker Recliner which turned out to be a great chair. In 2020 I decided to get a new chair and retire the chair I had been comfortable in for 22 years. I went back to Lazy Boy and found a comparable chair that fit my 6'2" frame. I paid extra for upgrades amounting to about $300, padding being the largest of upgrades. Took about 6 weeks to get it. Got it home and sat in it for a couple of days and found the padding very stiff and uncomfortable. I went back to Lazy Boy and tried to trade for the chair I had originally sat in on the showroom floor. The manager refused any deal. I even asked for an even trade disregarding my $300 upgrade. No deal. He said Lazy Boy doesn't accept returns of upgraded furniture. He said I signed a paper that allowed only 3 days from "date of purchase" to change my mind and make a return. It took 6 weeks to get the chair, so the 3 days was gone. Swore I would never go back to Lazy Boy. So I gave the chair to my son and went back to my original 22 year old recliner. This lasted until February 23 when I decided I really needed a new chair. After shopping around and finding nothing, I broke down and went back to Lazy Boy. I found a chair that fit my large frame and decides try Lazy boy again. The chair I tried was comfortable, but unfortunately, I did not recline the chair because there were other chairs behind it. It seemed to fit good sitting up, so what could go wrong. Well, the chair is fine to sit in, but when I recline the back stretches out and my head winds up between the top cushion and the next cushion down giving absolutely no support for my head. Most uncomfortable chair I have ever reclined in. Two big mistakes. I did not recline it at the store and again signed Lazy Boys 3 day trial and return. I purchased the chair on a Friday which wouldn't arrive at the store until Tuesday. That takes care of the 3 days. I specifically asked the sales person if the 3 days started when I get the chair on when I purchase it. She said when I purchase it. Now another chair to give away. Beware when buying anything from Lazy Boy. I hope I have finally learned about Lazy Boy. Absolutely no customer service.

Disappointed

I purchased a beautiful Astor Platinum lift/recliner w/power headrest from the La Z Boy store in Victor, NY on February 6/2022 for my husband who is a hemiplegic. I purchased this to better assist his transfers & for his comfort. We received it February 25, 2022 & were thrilled at how much it reduced his pain & improved his comfort along with ability to transfer. In late summer I believe, the motor broke as he was in a reclined position, & unable to get out of the chair by himself. I phoned for service, waited for what seemed like a long time, & received an appointment about a month later, on 8/30/22. The serviceman was pleasant & had told us he needed to order a part for it, said it would be 2 weeks, I phoned on 9/13/22 was on hold twice for 25 minutes, then again for 55 minutes the third time to ask about the ordered part. The chair was FINALLY repaired on 9/27/22. This was QUITE an inconvenience for my husband, let alone, very uncomfortable for him during that time frame. Unfortunately, we have again had a bit of an inconvenience or difficulty with his chair. This time the controller lever to recline the entire chair is not functioning. I phoned it into the service department on 12/16/22, waited almost 40 minutes for a person to answer the call, then after speaking to someone, later received an email that someone would be here on January 24th, 2023, which he was & had stoically replaced the control. I cannot believe the total length of time it takes for someone to answer the phone, come look at the chair, or repair it. I am only hoping that we will not have to be inconvenienced yet again. I am very disappointed in the lack of response and quality of care or concern. Each time I spoke to someone, I told them this chair is a very important part of my husband's quality of life, and of the necessity of its use, & would appreciate it if a quicker response could be implemented or to be put on an emergent type of list if possible. These may sound trivial to you, but to me, it is a major problem. He suffered his stroke that paralyzed the right side of his body late 2021, he also suffers from overuse syndrome of his left knee, so this chair was and is a major part of his rehabilitation and comfort. If he cannot feel secure or confident with the product I purchased, which then increases his anxiety towards use of this chair, I'm not sure what else I can do to help him be comfortable physically as well as mentally. Please let me know how your company can rectify this and how can he feel confident with its assistance and use along with rectifying the major inconvenience he & I have had to deal with.

I have purchased this brand in the past and have been happy, however that has changed. I purchased a reclining love seat and reclining sofa just over a year ago. It is an absolute disaster. It is a peeling mess. The top of the love seat cushions and areas between the cushions have lost all the "leather". It is some sort of synthetic on top fabric that does not withstand use. I have no animals, so smoking, no kids., ,

So far, LA-Z-BOY has only offered to come out on 11/30/22 and CHECK the broken and/or damaged frame; the inadequate cushioning in the many sunken spaces; and the difference in upholstery fabrics on the different areas of the sectional for a FEE.

If I could rate this business "NEGATIVE 0", I would . . . On November 1, 2020, I ordered a Sectional Sofa (CUSTOM ORDER TICKET # 2 -96422) from LAZBOY FURNITURE GALLERIES - 30650 DYER STREET / UNION CITY, CA 94587 which was delivered nearly six (6) months later in April 2021. Between that time and now, beginning August 2021, I have had to be hospitalized and undergone three (3) separate surgeries with varying lengths of recuperation. I am a widow and a senior citizen who lives alone with no pets and infrequent visitors. I noticed that the sectional sofa seemed to be covered in two different fabrics. At first, I could not be positive because of the color of the furniture; I was not sure because of lighting differences. However, the fabric looks, wears and feels different on the different sections. Other people have verified this. I have additionally noticed defects in workmanship with sunken spots, shifts in materials, lumps, creases, and inferior construction/weak framework. I cannot understand this because my furniture was fully paid for and supposedly specialty-made, taking some six (6) months to complete and deliver. I bypassed other stores and items to specifically make this purchase . . . I really thought that I had purchased items that were of highest quality and reputation. However, sadly, I was sorely mistaken. I am upset, agitated, frustrated, dissatisfied, disappointed, and EMBARRASSED. I do not want guests to visit because I am ASHAMED of how my sectional sofa looks. Friends and family know exactly when I purchased this furniture and realize that it was not that long ago, and my furniture already looks like I have six (6) children living here. The furniture that I had previously was ten (10) years old and still looked new when I purchased this sofa from LAZYBOY FURNITURE GALLERIES - 30650 DYER STREET / UNION CITY, CA 94587. Unfortunately, on this journey to resolve this issue, I have had the displeasure to speak with Liz (408) 283-**** on more than one occasion: 1. July, 2022: Request to Return/Exchange furniture Repair ONLY with a $200 FEE. I gave her my credit card info and she gave me number to set up an appt. She was exceptionally rude and aggressive, implying that the problems with the furniture were my fault; stating that because I was a month or so over the one year warranty with my request, that I had NO RECOURSE. 2.November 16, 2022: I again requested to Return/Exchange furniture due to differing fabric and upholstering situation with dips and high spots. Due to major surgery and appointments, follow ups, etc. inherent therein, I had called to reschedule my Repair ONLY appointment with La-Z-Boy for 10/27/22 and explained the situation. During the 11/16 conversation, Liz was rude, aggressive, confrontational and argumentative as always, demanding to know the names of any persons I contacted with supporting dates. According to Liz:I had NOT contacted them before FALSE, she later checked and supposedly found evidence to support my statementI cancelled for some UNKNOWN reason FALSE, she later checked and supposedly found evidence to support my statementI had NEVER told them about the fabric problem FALSE, she later checked and supposedly found evidence to support my statementI had NEVER paid for the Repair ONLY appointment FALSE, she later checked and supposedly found evidence to support my statementI DID NOT have a pending Repair ONLY appointment FALSE, she later checked and supposedly found evidence to support my statement I understand that business is business, but customer service is an integral part of any business. Obviously, LaZBoy employee training is ineffective, insufficient and/or inadequate as demonstrated by Liz. I do not appreciate any customer service employees harassing me, interrogating me, lying to and/or about me, and trying to repeatedly overcharge me for the same thing conversations with Liz included harassment/interrogation, definitive statements that what I was saying was inaccurate, accusations that I was not being truthful and making recurring demands for payment of fees for repairs even though they were already paid. It fascinated and infuriated me that EVERYTHING that Liz claimed was one way was actually EXACTLY THE OPPOSITE . . . At the end of the conversation, I felt compelled to inform Liz that I would be contacting the Corporate Offices concerning: 1.Defective Product / Poor Workmanship Exchange and/or Refund 2.My extremely Negative customer service experience with her Just as unpleasant as my experiences with Liz was, my customer service encounters with Michelle were extremely pleasant, polite, professional, helpful and accommodating/understanding. I spoke with Michelle when I scheduled my first appointment for furniture repair in July, 2022 which did not materalize. I again spoke with Michelle when I had to cancel my appointment on 10/27/22 due to my surgery. And, I spoke to her a third time on 11/07/22 to pay for and schedule my pending appointment on what I thought was 12/06/22 (Liz stated it should be 11/30/22). I intend to let everyone whom I see or talk to know: 1) that La-Z-Boy offers an inferior product with defects and poor workmanship, 2) that the company is slow to reply to questions or complaints, as well as 3) that their employees are rude, aggressive, confrontational and argumentative their customers - including harassment/interrogation; definitive statements that what the customer was saying was inaccurate; accusations that the customer was not being truthful; and making recurring demands for payment of fees for repairs even though they were already paid. This is my request for REFUND of my $ 2,457.30 with NO restocking fee.
