Cancelled day before cat's death

The company is based on Florida so don't know local providers. They refuse of course to give palliative care though they advertise it along with euthanasia, this includes something as simple as IV or SQ fluid support or pain management. I scheduled 6 days in advance, and then they call me 1 day ahead of the appt while the cat is dying informing me that the appt was cancelled. I had no one to go to. They are callous non-caring cruel administrators. Please don't use this service, your pet-important family member-doesnt deserve this, and no other pet owners do either.

Horrible customer service

A very Pathetic attempt to be sympathetic to our situation. The booking was overly done with a winey voice and it disgusted me to talk to this person. As she was very sorry for our sweet baby the bill kept creeping up to over 700 dollars itemized as the questions were asked of what we wanted to do. In the end i just cancelled because i was so turned off by this persons fake attempt to get our money. Test it out for yourself. A big red flag to not go with this type of company.

Only a so so experience

The vet was okay, but they should be embarrassed by the so-called remembrance items... a paw print that hasn't hardened in over a month, placed on a cheap booklet whose pages were wrinkled by the print's wetness. The computer generated followup email is even worse. It's an obvious attempt at making more money at the 'expense' of a grieving person.

Lap of love refuse to post our testimony lap of love will not respond to our phone calls or emails and has blocked us from their website! They have not made dr Jessica spitzer accountable for what she has done

Our 16yr old 5lb very frail, toothless, blind, deaf, weak baby ,was in last stages of kidney failure but not yet in pain posed no threat at all ! Lap of love dr Jessica spitzer was unprofessional didnt follow protocol didnt explain anything to us without warning she ambushed our baby threw a blanket over her with such force held her against our couch jammed a huge needle into her tiny belly causing her to scream out in pain then went limp! We were horrified !we didnt get to say good bye or hold or comfort our baby during her passing instead our baby died shocked, under a blanket alone, screaming in pain ! Left us tramatized! It was cruel and inhumane !

VET.0011729 Dr. Danielle Marie Harrington Abusing my cat-Lap of Love Harboring Fugitive now

Here is a video about the situation on social media: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=38a4wHrlbyo&list=PL1r0vltjzqYc7KTO3DSdEEHaIRIGNl1ck I found out I'm dying from a brain tumor in November 2021. I needed to make arrangements for my special needs cat Moses. He had already been in 2 abusive homes before I got him. He had come a LONG way since Jan 2020 when I first got him. He was approx 2 years old & didn't know how to drink out of a bowl or eat off of a plate or container. He ran around from faucet to toilet to bathtub to get water. It took me 2 months to train him to do those basic things. He was very good at using the litter box. I weighed the pros & cons of what to do with him- take him to a no-kill shelter here in Denver was my first choice, but all of the shelters were full. I decided to have him euthanized here at home where he was comfortable & felt safe. I had used Lap of Love in 2019 with a very nice & compassionate vet, Dr. Jinny Brindler. She no longer works in Colorado & moved to W. Virginia. I was assigned Dr. Harrington to come by on 12.8.2020 to euthanize my cat. It should have been a no-hassle event. Dr. H told me on the phone that she would consider taking him as her own cat after she met him & "tested him out", so to speak. She told me that she & her partner "loved cats" & "were cat people." She said that she had a spare room & Moses could stay in there until "he got acclimated". If he did not get along with her 2 cats in a reasonable time, she would find Moses another "very good home". Once she arrived on 12.8.21, she decided she "liked Moses" & said she would be more than happy to take him. I'm assuming she made this decision solely on the fact that he didn't attack her. He never attacked anyone. I was relieved, to a point. I did not relish having him put to sleep simply because I was dying, but I did NOT want to risk him getting into another abusive home. Dr. H seemed "sugary sweet & nice", which really fooled me. I told her that I would let her take Moses & she promised that I could have photos, videos, make phone calls to check on him, she would let me know if she had to find him another home, yada yada yada. Once I signed the relinquishment papers & paid her $350 "to take him", she turned into another person. Moses was in his carrier & ready to go. As we left the bathroom & went to the living room, I told Dr. H to wait a minute. She had already gone straight to the front door. I told her she needs to take this kind of food because it's the only kind he can eat. She said no, he'll eat what she gives him & refused to take the cases I had. Then I said let me get his favorite toys. Again, she said no, he will have toys. I insisted that she take at least his very favorite & shoved it at her. She refused to take his catnip that he LOVES & eats daily. She said "NO catnip in my house!" I should have grabbed my cat back & kicked the *** out the door, but I thought I may be over-reacting. She left. After I cried a few days, I knew I would miss him either way, I began reviewing everything that happened right before she left. I realized I was NOT over-reacting & the lady did NOT like cats AT ALL or she would have taken the things he needed & enjoyed to feel more at home. I called Lap of Love. They said they have no info on what Dr. H had done with Moses. I told them that she promised me that I could have photos & videos & call to check on him. She had refused to reply to several of my emails. Lap of Love refused to give me any info on who I now call the *** I filed a complaint against Dr. H with the Colorado Veterinary Board. Dr. H has no valid info on her license registration other than it is active. I called Denver Animal Control, Rachel Wysocky, to file yet another complaint. I sent Rachel 1 of Moses' videos that's in the link above. She said they would go check on him in a day or 2. This was back in December & I have not gotten a response nor phone call returned since. I filed a complaint with PETA. They don't give a *** anymore about pets than Lap of Love does. On 1.1.2022, I got a 30 second video of Moses from Dr. H. He was in bad shape, scared, hunched in a box, was still being kept in the room alone, the vet was hurting him when she brushed him, he cowered down, he looked at her with wide, scared eyes & still tried to get her to pet him. It was heartbreaking, I was furious & sent several more emails to Dr. H with no response as of today. I sent the story to the media, posted it on every social media channel that I have & got no response from ANYONE. I even listed all of the agencies with names, complaint #s, phone numbers of who all has been informed & taken no action. It is on the last screen of the 6 minute slow-motion video. Ch7, The Denver Channel had a girl named April answering the phone 1 day when I called for an update. She was rude, did not like cats, accused me of lying about the vet, etc. I told her to go watch the video herself & see if I'm lying! I was livid. She is NOT representative of the Denver Channel by no means. I left a message for Tony Kovaleske (?, may be spelled wrong) to get rid of her. Meanwhile, I hired my own private investigators. They went to Dr. H's fake address to find her gone as well as my cat. Due to Lap of Love's ADAMANT lack of cooperation & condonement of Dr. H's abhorrent behavior, the private investigators will do without their assistance. It appears at this point, 2 months later, that Dr. Danielle Marie Harrington has left the state of Colorado with "my" cat & it is strongly suspected that she has started a kitty mill with him or sold him to a kitty mill. They have quite a few in Colorado, unbeknownst to me. The horror! Everyone knows about puppy mills- the kitty mills are just the same. \ For Lap of Love to *** this behavior from a vet on their staff is deplorable. I long ago told them that it would be in their best interest to fire Dr. H. The investigations will continue. I will not give up. I have given the investigators my debit card & told them to continue investigating no matter when I die- he must be saved from this corrupt Lap of Love company. For them to allow this to happen AT ALL, it surely reflects poorly on the Founder, Dr. Gardner, who refuses to have anything to do with her employees OR we, the victims of her bad staff. I consider her to be an animal hater.

Veterinarian came to our home to euthanize our dog

We could not have asked for a more loving experience in such a devastating time. Dr. Danielle was absolutely wonderful. The other really positive thing is that she was able to come out the same day, which we definitely needed. Other places that I had called first had a waiting list of more than a week in some cases. In the future, when needed, we will only use Lap of Love.

Canceled appointment

This will be the cliff notes version. 200lb Great Dane fell and could no longer stand. Lap of Love said we can be there between 3-4pm. I get a text after 3pm saying we have been trying to reach you, please call this number. They told me that they had to cancel the appointment because they can't get a hold of their crematory staff and there was nothing they could do. Was going to be $886. My vet charged $241.

Not happy.

Ervin Luehrs from Lap of Love came to our home and put down our cat. We had our cat comfortable on a stable chair with her favorite blanket and she was calm. When Ervin was going to administer the first shot of a sedative he said to hold the cat as she might feel a little discomfort. OMG our cat screamed and tried to jump off the chair. I have NEVER seen or heard her make that sound of pain or for that matter ANY of my other cats I've had to put down ever showed pain like that. It was unnecessary. I am telling my clients and friends to beware as I don't want any one to go thru this with their beloved pets.

Best option you have

I love Lap of Love. Let's face it, when the time comes for your pet, it will be devestating. And injections are always involved so of course your furbaby may be uncomfortable for a moment. Let's be realistic with expectations. It is as peaceful as possible for a death.

Euthanasia is PAINFUL if you use Lap of Love

The process Lap of Love uses to put your dog in a sleep state before putting down IS PAINFUL to the animal. My dog let out a heart wrenching cry that still haunts me. I thought it would be a nice gentle good bye but NO it haunts me every time I think about LAP OF LOVE injecting PAIN for the last memories the dog has. They are all about VOLUME. Get in and Get out. No companion for the animal. Just a routine kill day. And then the owner has to deal with the mental pain they leave you with.

WARNING IF YOU ARE USING LAP OF LOVE

Be aware that if your having Lap of Love put your pet down note this. They will give your animal an injection to put them in a sleepy zone. That injections HURTS the animal. The last thing I remember about my dog is he let out a scream of pain with that injection. Why don't they use IV? They tell me it's too hard to do an IV since dog is nervous and won't hold still. That's BS> The animal could be given oral sedation before the vet arrives. That way they could do the IV and use that to do both injections with little to no pain. All they care about is how fast they can get in and get out.

Horrible experience!!

my sister’s pet cat had come to the end of his journey with kidney failure.. so she found lapoflove online and hired them to put her fur baby to rest.. she chose them because of their claims of how painless and calm the experience would be.. total lies.. first thing the provider said when getting ready to inject the sedative was that it was going to be extremely painful.. and it was.. Big Kitty howled in agony through the long injection time.. and then the final injection was administered with a bigger needle which was jabbed harshly straight into the kidney.. completely contrary to the claims of small needles gently into a vein.. never never use these people..!!

Exceptional Kindness and Professionalism

In mid-June, 2019, we were faced with the devastating realization that our 15 year-old Jack Russell, Kizzy was mortally ill. The pet hospital gave me the brochure for Lap of Love and I called them right when they open, at 7:00 am. I received an immediate response from the most kind and gentle woman. She helped me with all of the business part and was able to find a female vet (I felt strongly that my dog and family would feel most comfortable with a lady) to come later the same day. When Dr. Lucy arrived, she told o was kind, gentle and so attentive. She told us how everything would occur and let us ask all of our questions and cry. She was just extraordinarily kind and made horrible situation tolerable. The dog even wagged her tail at Lucy. She is a gem. I strongly recommend.

Amazing Experience in Arlington Texas

I hate to say that this was an amazing experience, considering the circumstances, but it was. Our pup was 18 years old, and having a really difficult time. Her quality of life slipped very quickly, and we knew we had to make a difficult decision. Dr. Sarah came over and was so kind and compassionate. She listened to our stories, smiled with us, laughed with us, and was sad with us. She explained every step of the procedure, ensured us it was the right decision, and made sure our Bailey's passing was peaceful. Honestly I was kind of freaked out about it happening at my home, but it was the best way. I truly wish I had known of Lap of Love when my previous dog passed, because it was so much more peaceful and calm than having this done at the vet's office. I can't thank Dr. Sarah enough. I highly recommend their services. Thank you!

They used to be compassionate, now just in it for a fast buck!

I have used Lap of Love in the past & always had the same vet. He would come in quietly, gently approach my pet, show interest, review the records, look at photos, speak softly. Last time, on Feb 3, he was unavailable, so a different Lap of Love vet came. Maybe I should have asked to see her license - was this woman even a veterinarian? Contrast: Dr B came in quietly, approached gently, reviewed chart, looked at photos. He was a gentle, professional. This new Dr T came in loudly, threw her heavy bag on the floor, scared the *** out of my cat. Cat ran under bed to hide, husband & me surrounded & extracted her (only could do because she was sick & weak). Next, as I cuddled her on the bed, "Dr T" gave her the first injection. Our baby screamed! I have never heard a cat scream like that from an injection in the past. It was horrible!!! I'm no stranger to euthanasia or injections. I've had cats all my life & I've given many injections to both cats (FVRCP's) & people (RN). This particular cat was the sweetest, gentlest of all. Any vet who ever treated her loved her. She was sick as a kitten & had gotten many shots, including transfusions. She did not deserve a painful brutal murder. I thought I was doing a merciful thing by calling Lap of Love over. Instead, I subjected my baby to torture. It's been 2 months & I will never get over the pain Lap of Love caused my baby in the end. NEVER using Lap of Love again. Once compassionate, now just a money maker. I will carry the guilt of that day to my grave.
