Yes! KLM Ripped Us Off Too!

Yes! KLM ripped us off too! I wish I'd have read this before they called me after I did a simple search on moving companies. They do biz under different names, I didn't know what it should cost, I thought their broker who said don't use a company who uses brokers, was helpful and honest. Ha! Joke was on me. Ripoffs united to take almost $9000 and take a month to deliver incomplete load of belongings in damaged condition. By the time I researched them I had such low expectations, I just wanted to forget it and get on with my life. But people called because when they had everything we owned I had nothing to do but post my story and phone number. Yep. Still get calls. So sad, too bad.

KLM Movers Are A Band Of Liars, Incompetents and Network of Lawbreakers

Our story happened a year ago but I still receive calls from readers of my old reviews online. These people have no heart nor soul. They do not care about your belongings, your story, nor you. Once they get their hook in your mouth, you are caught. Do not begin by listening to their sales brokers who tell you they are not a broker. Later, the scheduling people at the LA warehouse will tell you that what you were promised by the broker is untrue and that the brojer does not work for KLM. KLM is run under an LLC and operated by a man from his office in Tel Aviv. You can't touch them for recovery once they have your money and/or belongings. Just hire Mayflower or another big name mover who really are in the good business practices of moving your belongings from one home to your new home. DO NOT TRUST KLM!

Missing boxes, broken picture frame (glass), missing parts to shelves

It took them 7 days to bring our shipment from California to Nevada. First of all, it took them 4 hours to load the moving truck and 2 hours to unload, we noticed at first the missing glass shelf for our television stand, their response was "I don't know". After un packing we noticed some missing boxes. We put in a claim for about $750. they offered a settlement of $15.00 and that took them 60 days to come up with. Stay away from them, I'm contacting the Better Business Bureau as well. I have since sent an email to their contact person and am waiting for a reply. I have never experienced so much unprofessionalism from a so-called reputable company.

Destroyed

First they doubled the origanal estimate then what they did,nt scracth bang up and ruin. They stole or lost. I was worned from other moving companies not to use then. I wish that i had listened to them because they were wright. I went through Anthem and filled a claim and they never gave me the money that KLM was suppose to give me. Do not ever use these people unless you hate evrything that you own. This is the most disqusting thing I have ever been through. I would never ever recomend KLM vanlines to anyone unless you have insurance and trying to make some money.

CITIZENS BEWARE of KLM Vanlines!!!!!

KLM Vanlines is probably the worst moving company ever!!! Citizens if you use KLM this is most likely what you will experience. In brief: On Thursday, in April, 2016, (the last day of scheduled pickup) at about 3:15 PM, I received a call from a dispatcher stating that they would not be able to pick up my belongings till Friday morning. I stated that that will not work because I had arranged a meeting in Barstow with a company at about 6-7:00 AM Friday morning (about 5-6 hours away) and other scheduled stops on my trip to Ohio. The dispatcher called back and said that they would be there between 5-7:00 PM. When they got to my house at about 5:30 the “man” (I believe his name was Alex) had hardly gotten out of his car when he stated that he could not move my belongings for what my contract stated. Original fee was $1431.93, he raised the cost $769.00 to be paid immediately. I was only 4 medium size boxes over the original detailed contract but he didn’t even know that yet. On three different occasions he told me that if I didn’t like it that he would leave!! That constitutes extortion!!! He was rude, arrogant and very unprofessional. This is what some companies will do to get a contract. Once signed you are on the hook especially in cases like this when you do not have the time to call someone else. The contract that I was literally forced to sign has a different address and is KLM Vanlines, 8905 Desoto Ave., Unit 204, Canoga Park, CA 91304. The original one is located at 9250 Independence Ave., Chatsworth, CA 91311. Part 2: Day of delivery was scheduled on or around May 1. On May 2, 2016 I called the dispatcher to find out when they would be delivering my belongings. She (the dispatcher) stated that they had been trying to get in contact with me for 2 days. No so. I called one number she gave me to make arrangements for delivery and I believe I was talking to the same “man” Alex that I dealt with in Brisbane and he was quite irate and said that if I didn’t give him an address to deliver that he was going to send the trucker on to New York and I would have to pay to get my belongings back to Ohio. Contract stated that I had 30 days of free storage and NO charge for re-delivery from storage to final destination. Part 3: Delivery went OK however; only one piece of my furniture was covered with protective blankets. EVERY piece of my furniture was scratched, damaged or broken. My racing bicycle’s front rim was slightly bent and the tire was flat. The back rim was egg shape. I had just spent $135.00 on getting it tuned up. Some boxes were missing; several other items were missing and some broken. The loss and damage was in the range of $4000.00. BTW the delivery driver was very nice but he wasn’t a KLM driver. I first sent KLM a letter telling them of this and what my intentions would be if they didn’t respond. They didn’t. I contacted an attorney to file a claim against them and the letter was returned as “no such company”. I called their office to find out if the address was correct and it was. This company and employees are very bad and dishonest people. This company no doubt has a history of this kind of lying and thievery. If you are looking for a moving company, DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY. YOU WILL BE SORRY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thieves!

Similar complaints as the other reviews here... I got a quote from In and Out Mover who contracted to KLM. I paid a deposit to In and Out and was told I would need a cashiers check at pick-up time. KLM arrived. They took some pictures, more than doubled the price, and would not take the cashiers check made out to In and Out Mover. I was flying the next day, so I signed a different check. Halfway through packing my stuff, the "boss" says I need to also pay the "Interstate Fees" of $500. It was my fault for writing another check to these thieves, but I was stressed and had to get my things moved. Items arrived with big gashes in boxes. Table legs were broken. A wicker chair was ripped. I am missing an almost new toolbox filled with power tools and a bundle containing a 22 rifle. I got no response from calling other than they would look in their warehouse... I'd prefer to look in their home garage! Need a negative star rating for this company.

Klm Van Lines - Moving Service Review from Fremont, California

Stay far away from this low life company as possible. They delivered our entire belongings to a two small storage facility and never called us or notified us they were doing so. Once we found out where our belongings were we went to the storage facility to find out that their storage with our belonging in it was red tagged to go to auction due to them not paying. We paid their bill and then asked them where the key was, it was no where to be found. Thank god the managers cut the lock so we could get our belongings which were all damaged and not all there. Three weeks later after many phone calls and lip service it showed up late to the storage but luckily we had friends close by that let us put it in their garage. This nightmare is over but now we will be pressing charges. STAY AWAY FROM THIS SO CALLED COMPANY.

Stole my things

This company stole over $3,000 worth of my things. The other things were broken and damaged. They won't return phone calls or follow up. The external claims department has stated if the company provides the paperwork they should have provided, I will be paid $37 for my things. They refuse to find my things, return them, or reimburse me for it. They are the most rude, scamming company I have ever worked with. I am angry and feel incredibly slighted. The company reported they are not responsible for the lost things. The receptionist said "the warehouse is empty, call the driver and ask him where your boxes are," then she hung up on me. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.

Refund check

I paid a $299 deposit for a move several months ago (May). My house sale, however, fell through and I was told from the beginning it would either be credited toward the move or refunded. Several requests have been made to get the $299 returned, and KLM only appears to have a recorded line now. I've left my number several times but no one has returned my calls. I spoke only once with Roberta at ((855) 810-**** and she responded with an email it would be processed within 48 to 72 hours, and confirmed by an email. No response, no check. Where is my check?

Rip off artists!!!! Carolina and her staff are the lowest form of thieves!!! They loaded 1/2 our belongings & took till midnight. We said what about the other 1/2? They said $4500 more dollars. We had to be out the next morning and across country, under duress we signed. Original estimate $6100. Cost over $10,000 in the end. Oh, and items were stolen and packed so poorly they were destroyed by the time they made it across country. They treated our furniture like ***!!! It's all beat up. Total scam!!!

Horrible company

On March 14,2016 I submitted an online request for a moving quote to move my daughter from Bowling Green, OH. to Pittsburgh, PA. KLMVanlines, also known as Moving and Storage, representative Dave responded by phone. He quoted me an original price of $1390.79. To secure that price I had to make a deposit of $390.79. Later that day I called him back to add some items to the move and include a second pick up location in Sidney, OH. That increased the price to $1798.20 and required a second deposit of $147.41. I had several conversations with Dave between 3/14/16 and 4/27/16 to confirm the service details. The dates they gave me for pickup were to be either 4/27/16 or 4/28/16. Their dispatch center was to call me the day before pick up to give me a time frame for their arrival. I did not hear from them on 4/26 so on 4/27 I called to find out about the pickup times. Dave told me to call the dispatch center at 844-384-****. I had several conversations with the dispatch center on 4/27. They wanted to push the pickup back to 4/29 and I said okay but after speaking with my daughter called them back and said no, that will not work. The contract was for 4/27 or 4/28 and my daughter had to be in Pittsburgh on 4/29 to sign the lease for the new apartment. They finally said they would pick up in Bowling Green on 4/28 between 4:00 and 6:00pm, then come to Sidney to pick up the rest of the stuff. On 4/28 I received a call from the Columbus, OH dispatch center, 614-300-****, stating that they would pick up in Bowling Green on 4/29 in the morning. I again said no that won’t work and that the other dispatch center has said they would pick up on 4/28 in the late afternoon. She (in Columbus) said that was not going to happen and they would be there on 4/29. After numerous phone calls, all me calling them as they never returned a call as they said they would, they finally said they would call me by 8:00pm eastern time on 4/28 to tell me the time for pick up on 4/29. I arranged to take the day off of work to drive to Bowling Green to meet them. They never called back. I tried to reach my rep, Dave, several times and left messages for him to call. He never did and still hasn’t to this day. Fearing that they would not show up I then contacted a different company out of Ft. Wayne and they completed the move. KLMVanlines has never responded to my calls or messages, nor did they show up on 4/29. Since they failed to fulfill their contract I wanted to have the deposit amounts refunded. I tried several times to contact Dave with no luck. He would not answer my calls or respond to my messages. On 5/4/16 I called a different number, 818-201-****, I found online for KLMVanlines and spoke to Tom who referred me to his secretary, Caroline, 818-678-****, who assured me my refund of $538.20 was on the list to be processed and I would receive it within 7-10 business days. On 5/16/16 I called her again and she said it was processed by them on 5/5/16 and I should check with my bank. She said she would check into it on her end and call me back. I have not received any calls from her or anyone else affiliated with the company to this date. In order to get my refund, I contacted the dispute resolution center of the credit card company. They just settled the dispute on July 28, 2016 issuing me a full refund of the charges. The actions and attitude of Klm Vanlines and their employees were horrible. This experience caused extreme stress and worry not only for myself but for my husband and daughter.

Very professional.

We chose KLM Van lines mostly due to their flexibility and can-do attitude. They want us to be done quickly and on-time. I didn't have the luxury of waiting between five to ten days. It was last-minute and they made it happen. I called around and got about eight different quotes but KLM was able to work with me at a reasonable final rate. It was an 800-mile move and we had enough stuff to go for a one-bedroom, one-bathroom apartment. Their people all did a terrific job. I talked to about three different guys throughout the process because everybody was rotating through the weekend, but all three did a very good job. David was very helpful, and so was Alex. The guys that were driving the truck and unloading it also did a very professional job. I wasn't there the day they unloaded, but from what I understand through my two family members, the crew showed care in doing protective packaging and picking things up that were fragile. They weren't just throwing things around and stacking them in the truck for the sake of it. During the move, we had a little bit of a walk to go through because the building I'm in is doing some remodeling, and half of it got all the balcony torn off. There's a specific construction area that we're allowed to park in which was a little bit further away from the door than I would have liked. But we took care of business and kept them done. I'm a firm believer of taking care of people who helps take care of me, so I made sure to show them some thanks as well. KLM Van Lines made it a point to be on time and professional about it - that's all what anybody, including myself, is paying for.

Do not hire this company!

DATE OF MOVE: MARCH 2016 MOVING COMPANY: KLM VANLINES, 9250 Independence Ave, Chatsworth, CA 91311 DO NOT HIRE THIS MVOING COMPANY!!!! HUGE DISCONNECT BETWEEN THE SALES STAFF, THE MOVERS/PACKERS, THE DISPATCH OFFICE, AND THE MOVERS/UNLOADERS. From what I can tell, the sales representative has little to no communication with any of the actual business of the company. The following represents this lack of communication 1. In e-mail and phone conversations with the sales representative, I was led to believe that my items would be picked up during the second day of the two-day window for item pick up. Based on that information, I made plane reservations to leave my home the day after this second day of the two-day window. However, not only did they come on the first day of the two-day window, but it was early morning on that day. We had to get up at 5 am to be ready for them. And then, we had to spend two nights in a hotel rather than one, which was an unexpected expense and not very pleasant. 2. I spent quite a bit of time on the phone and in e-mail with the sales representative discussing each of the items that would be moved and a good estimate of their weight. I know the moving estimate was an estimate, but I didn't expect that the move would cost over three times as much as the estimate. That is unacceptable, especially since there was nothing more than what was on the original list. 3. Prior to the move, I e-mailed the sales representative about the size of the delivery truck (since I was worried about a large truck fitting into the driveway of my new home and if the truck does not fit in the driveway, they charge an extra #300); the sales representative assured me that it would be 26 feet. However, the person at dispatch said she had no idea why the sales representative would say that since they never use that small a truck Fortunately, the large truck did fit in the driveway and I didn’t have to spend an extra $300 but the key thing is that I wouldn't have found out about it if I hadn't bugged the dispatch person several times. 4. The guys who packed and loaded the items said that they thought the truck would reach WA by the Tuesday following the Thursday on which they loaded it. The sales representative had also told me that the items would likely arrive within a week. As a result, I had the movers pack all clothing except for a very few items. When I called dispatch the following Tuesday, however, they said that the large truck (into the ite3ms were loaded) had not even left LA yet! At that point, I was living in an uncomfortable guest suite with only a small suitcase of belongings. If we had known that it would take so long, we would have packed more things. And we would have made sure everyone involved had the correct information! 5. The sales representative never told me that my items would go to LA, get unloaded, sit there for a number of days, and then get re-loaded. That omission seems grave. What's more, all that moving on and off trucks seems in ensure some damage, especially to fragile items. THE DISPATCH OFFICE DISPLAYED VERY POOR CUSTOMER RELATIONS I called the dispatch office at least once a day to ask for an estimated time of arrival of my items. Here is just a short list of these calls and their lack of response: 1. The first few times I called, they said they would find out this information and call me back. They never did call me back. 2. One time when I called, they said the items were loaded on a truck and they would call me with the driver’s name. They never did call me back. 3. The next day when I called, they said the items were not actually loaded and they wouldn’t be loaded for at least a few days. 4. The next time I called, they said the driver’s phone was not working, but that he would call me as soon as it was working. He never called. 5. When a driver finally called to say the truck was loaded, he gave me only a two-day window to meet him on delivery, and it just happened that I was out of town. Fortunately, a family member 6. could meet him. MANY OF THE ITEMS WERE POORLY PACKED AND DAMAGED AND/OR COMPLETELY DESTROYED. The items (especially the fragile ones) were poorly packed (no bubble wrap used at all). Many of them arrived damaged and/or broken. I am currently awaiting a claims adjustment, but the private company can take as long as three months to settle.

NEVER USE THIS COMPANY....EVER!!! THEY ARE THE WORST....

I initially spoke with "Dave" - with the Flip Phone - and scheduled my move. I had spoken with several companies and was not comfortable with the fact that everything nowadays is done "online". The lack of personal interaction for me is the scary part because no one can be held accountable in the case of a dispute. "Dave" assured me that his company would handle the move from start to delivery. He assured me that I would be kept informed of each step along the way. I would know what the costs would be, I would be aware of the weight of the articles being moved, I would be treated fairly as they DO NOT farm out jobs... all jobs are completed by KLM employees using KLM trucks... The day the movers arrived it started off wrong...Driver was rude... Claimed that the job was double the weight on the paper... Stated that we would need to pay an additional $700 on top of the Postal Money order that he stated would have to be 60% of the remaining quoted balance and then there would be an additional $1100 due upon delivery. They proceeded to grab items and toss them into the truck - some of the things that should have been taken were left and some items that should have been left were taken. The next dilemma came when it was time for delivery. I was on the road driving from California to Ohio. I must have been in a dead zone and did not get the call that the truck was approaching delivery and wanted to confirm delivery. I finally was in a spot with reception in New Mexico and called the number that was blowing up my phone with over 20 texts of "Call me"!!! When I did get the call to go through the guy proceeded to yell and scream at me demanding that I get $1100 to his bank account by the next morning or he would proceed to give my belongings to "the Auction House". My original date for delivery was April 20th 2016....I was speaking with him on April 21st 2016...He continued with the yelling and demeaning conversation saying it was not his problem if I was on the road and he refused the option of putting my things into storage without me first paying him an additional $1100 by morning...My original quote was for $1650 to be paid in 3 payments of $550... The initial payment of $550 was made by debit card...the movers took a postal money order in the amount of $550 on the date of the actual move which was April 9th 2016 - along with an additional $700 in cash...this brings the total so far to $1800 for an original contracted amount of $1650. After several calls back and forth between the Threatening Driver and the Passive New York brother - this guy was somewhat reasonable but had no control over his maniac brother - I had to call several friends and get this maniac this extra money as he was holding my personal belongings hostage and threatening to sell off everything... I was able to get the money to my son who was on the receiving end and when they arrived to deliver the goods he was still in the same state of being and was rude to my son who requested that the maniac just leave after getting our things off the truck before they came to blows...they did not put all of the belongings into the house on the delivery end. I have attempted to contact "Dave" and of course that is a no go...I called today - April 28th 2016 - and spoke with "Kathy" who stated she would pass the information on to the supervisor "Ben"...she then asked me why I was calling today if this happened on the 22nd...she was another rather condescending person...I informed her that I have been attempting to contact their firm to no avail and am in the process of disputing the charges and contacting legal representation. I would have been better off using a pack mule!!!
