Quality and workmanship

Original review Mar 24, 2023
Bought a new Kimber pro carry 2 and only shot 2 mags thru it before the cheap plastic mainspring housing broke plus gun wont not function properly, I replaced the mainspring housing but gun still not working, Sent back to Kimber and they replaced the seer, hammer and mainspring housing and other small parts, I paid $200 for repair because they said the firing mechanism had been altered which it had not since I bought brand new, Unhappy with them, my last Kimber

357 magnum shells will not fit into my 357 case 6S combat

Jordan Faulk is evaluating my situation. I have spoke with him and sent him several pictures and a short video. I am currently waiting for a reply from him as to the next step to resolve this situation.

Poor warranty support

The worst customer service I have experienced. Right behind Remington who at least has the excuse that they have changed ownership. I own 3 Kimber rifles and 2 Kimber pistols and one of my rifles the textured coating of the stock is coming off and disintegrating. When I called customer service they told me they wont warranty the stock on a gun that I paid way over $1200 for. The reason I find this very disappointing, besides the value of the gun, is the fact that I had the same thing happen to a CVA muzzleloader that cost me $320 and is at least 5 years older than the Kimber. When I contacted CVA about this issue, they immediately sent me a new stock 100% free, no questions asked. What a disappointing experience I had with Kimber. I will now be selling my Kimbers and will never buy one again.

Waiting on order

Waiting on a single .45 order for 22 months. Customer service says they do not have any information and I should call their dealer rep. Problem is Kimber customer service does not know who their own rep is. Said to call dealer. At least give an estimate if they are going to deliver gun. Kimber America fails here. They have been helpful in past. A joke !

Defective product - No warranty

Original review Jul 28, 2022
My respect for this company was destroyed today! I own three Kimber rifles. The bolt on my 7mm.08 would not lock into place when in the safety position. When I contacted the company, I was informed that they changed the design of the bolt to correct the problem and I would need to pay $340 plus shipping to have my rifle repaired. In other words, I would need to pay over $400 to correct Kimber's defective bolt design. I would rather spend 5 times this amount and purchase a new light weight rifle from a reputable manufacturer than to be cheated by this company. BUYER BEWARE - don't expect this company to stand behind its products or warranties.

Warranty is a joke!

KIMBER TARGET CONVERSION KITS ARE NO GOOD! Before I relate my recent experience, here are a couple gems from a well-known pistol smith: A customer brought in a custom shop Super Match II with the complaint that he had tried several factory loads and none of them would chamber. Upon inspection the smith found that the chamber had only been rough reamed. Its no wonder a round wouldnt chamber. How does a piece leave their custom shop then get through final inspection. Clearly the piece was never test fired. A Pro CDP was brought in by a customer who is a very proficient handgun shooter indicating that he couldnt get the piece to shoot reasonable groups and wanted it re-barreled. The smith inspected the piece and found that the barrel crown looked as if it had been cut with a dull or broken cutter then someone tried to use a hand file to straighten out the crown. Again, how does a piece like that pass final inspection and test firing? Now, my Kimber fiasco - I purchased a Kimber 1911 .22 conversion kit. As with all firearms, that I buy, I always completely clean, lube and bore scope the chamber and barrel before range testing. The Kimber conversion kits are advertised as having a match grade barrel and bushing. When the barrel was bore scoped, I found that it was littered with pits like you would see in a very old barrel that had rust pits (see photo). I contacted Kimber who requested that the kit be sent in. Along with the kit I included bore scope photos and a note that read: Since the pits are just too deep to be polished or lapped out without changing the bore diameter, I am requesting that you please replace the barrel at your earliest possible convenience. I received the kit back with the following repair slip notations: Adjusted extractor, refinished barrel, reamed and polished chamber. Perfect! The extractor did not need adjustment. The chamber did not need reaming or polishing when previously viewed with my bore scope and I specifically stated that the barrel pits could not be corrected with lapping or polishing. So, I again bore scope the barrel and low and behold it is still littered with pits (see photo). Kimber is again contacted and sent bore scope photos and again the kit is shipped back to them. Now I am told that they do not have any kits in stock and do not have any parts for them. Two months go by and not a word from Kimber so I send them notice that per the Magnuson Moss act that governs warranties I would like a refund. Crickets! A week later, after another note to Kimber, I receive a call from them indicating that they now have some barrels. It must have been a miracle! Again, the kit is shipped to them. I receive the kit back with the following repair slip notes: Polished firing pin housing, replaced and polished barrel, test fired, inspected, cleaned and oiled. Got out the bore scope again and wow! The new barrel has broach cutter chatter marks and gouges the likes that I have never seen before (see photo). Chatter marks on the lands and grooves, especially if they are perpendicular to the bore, unquestionably result in immediate bore fouling and loss of accuracy. I contact Kimber yet again, send bore scope photos yet again. Kimber asks if I test fired the piece. At this point, based on the condition of the barrel, test firing would be pointless but I agreed to take it to the range. 40 rounds fired and at 25 rounds groups were 7 ½ at 10 yards. I re-bore scope the barrel and found it heavily lead fouled, gee what a surprise! (see photo). After sending bore scope photos again to Kimber I have another conversation with them that ends with: We dont believe we can meet your expectations. In other words, we advertise the kit as having a match grade barrel but we just dont have the capability to make one!! How can a barrel that is advertised as being match grade but actually looks like a corrugated sewer pipe be inspected and sent out to a customer? A few days later I receive a call from a customer service manager who says: Well refund your purchase price but you have to sign our release and return the kit to us first. It will take over two weeks, after we receive the kit, to issue you a check. If you dont agree then we understand and wish you well. Being that I have absolutely no trust in their ability to handle anything or honor what they say I suggested that the check be issued first or that the two weeks to issue a check be reduced to 5 days. Kimber would not agree to either of the modified terms. Since I found Kimber to be untrustworthy and their agreement terms to be unreasonable and unacceptable, I now have invested $400 in a paper weight. Shooting sports are supposed to be fun. A customer should not have to put up with substandard manufacturing, failed repairs and inept customer service. I wouldnt own another Kimber if someone gave me one for free. At Kimber quality control is completely nonexistent and they absolutely dont have the desire or ability to meet reasonable customer requests and expectations. *** they cant even manufacturer products that meets their own advertised standards. Kimber needs to change their company logo to: We manufacture garbage and hope to sell it to misinformed idiots.

Shipping wrong products

Kimber customer service in the firearms industry is a joke. They constantly make mistakes and the consumer is made to pay for it. Get your act together Kimber, other companies run circles around you for customer service. This review is based off years in the industry, not just a one time occurrence!

Honestly

Purchased a Kimber 9MM Micro for my wife. I live in the middle of no-where Montana, so I dont get to town much. I took it out and put 4 magazines through it. On the fourth one it jammed. I cleared it, took it home and put it in a zip lock bag. Left it on my gun bench. After about 13 months I had to go back to the same gun shop so, I grabbed it and took it back. Didnt know warranty was only 1 year. It was sent in, and they told me it had a bent frame and for $250.00 they would fix it! I told them to stuff it! Gun store made it right by giving my money back. No more Kimber for me! They suck and their cusp service is worse. Just a name. Get a Colt!

Pissed

So I purchased a 1911 lw night patrol. Will not load. rounds get stuck. Read that this has happened to other people. So brand new pistol and I have to send it back to Kimber to be fixed. Sorry to say this will be the last Kimber product purchased by me and my family. Called customer support and they just read off their script. Did they say sorry..oh no..Just send it in..should take 4 weeks to fix and return. Do they offer any type of compensation for this..oh no.. just want your money.

Outstanding warranty work

New Ultra Carry 2 wouldn't go to battery position. I called Kimber in Troy, AL and they told me to ship it to them. I shipped in on a Monday and got the pistol returned and repaired the following Monday. If you can get better customer service in ANY weapons maker, please tell me.

No one has called me back. Warranty

I contacted Kimber on November 01 2021. Spoke to a Customer Service Representative. In regards to rust on the ejector or oxidation looks like a cosmetic flaw. I purchased this Custom ii Kimber firearm on October 21 2021. The Representative said to forward pictures of the ejector and serial numbers to the firearm. I reached out to Representative yesterday Representative replied back has heard from the person that was sent the pictures for evaluation. I wish a member of Kimber would contact me so we can resolve this cosmetic flaw issue. Respectfully, John Dohm

Micro 9 and Ultra Cary 45

Original review Oct 23, 2021
The Micro 9, tried 2 different Magazines, one barely stays in - and it falls out sometimes when firing. The Ultra Carry 45 ACP came with a bad magazine and junk spring too. I bought new Magazines for both because the rounds would jam. I don't know if it just new equipment or what. So I cleaned both firearms, cleaned the magazine and exercised the magazine mechanisms until they didn't grind (GEEZ!) - not sure what to do with the old Magazines. You'd think Kimber would send me new ones?

RUST on a STainless gun

I have a STAINLESS "Kimber Micro 9" with major RUST issues after exactly 1 year. I live in Florida where it is HOT and MUGGY every day. I carry my pistol everyday rain or shine. My last stainless pocket carry from another manufacturer was in my pocket for 7 years and never had any kind of rust issues with the stainless steel or the aluminum frame. My Kimber has issues with both rust on the slide, rusty grip screws, rusty front sight, and pitting on the aluminum frame. I oil and clean my gun every month or so it has continually gotten worse. After contacting the factory I got a response that they could refinish the gun for me at a cost and I should purchase stainless grip screws. Didn't I already spend enough for the so called good name of Kimber. I and all the world should be spending money with a company that uses good stainless steel and has customer service that backs their products. I guess I should have sold it after the first few weeks, especially since it shoots super low, almost a half sight dot off.
