Pay attention to your identity
Okay so I attended Thompson institute,in which I took out financial aid a, now 1/2020 im being accused of attending Kaplan not once but twice.And I have called everyone, Dept of education,american education services,like im stuck on what to do,who,to call,or where to go for help.They took my taxes last year,they are speaking of garnishing my wages because my loan went into default because I was incarcerated so my loan is with a collections agency pioneer trust they are no HELP yesterday was Friday I was on the phone for 51/2 hours being sent back and forth.So its damned if id and damned if I don't meaning they say either way I have to pay so I asked them for a copy of the promisery note for the 3 schools im being accused of taking out loans for.and they send me my promisery note for Thompson like WTF? are Yall paying attention?I need help !!! Dept of education is sending me an unauthorized signature packet and I made a police report,so now what???????

Financial Fraud/Altered grades
I attended a paralegal school in 1999-**** Called Lee College, supposedly purchased by Kaplan in July 2000. The closed college sight first denied the school existed, then , after a second email, they sent me an Unnofficial Transcript, which had more classes than I signed up for or knew about, they altered grades to W, F, C, and a drop, for a class that was not needed, that could have been transfered in from a state university, right at the end, to set up a constructive expulsion. The Washington post onwed many education companies,, owned the school I went to, the company who owned it before and the ones after I attended. They are cleverly connected but disconnected. They never had the accredation they said they did, to students, but, were accredited from one of those agencies that accredits schools. The closed college sight told me I attended Kaplan Higher Education, Told me Kaplan bought it in Decemper of 2000, and that I last attended in June of 2000, but, the transcript includes me signing up for a Family law class in august of 2000 and dropping the class a few days later. They closed in December, they made it look like I dropped out 120 days or more before they closed, so it is my fault I didn't get my ceritficate. The class that i needed to graduate was a Law research 1 class, I left the class the first day when it was originally offered, the unqualified teacher was psycho woman. I attempted to take the class by testing out during the daytime later, but the teacher refused, violating the agreement. So, at the end , when I was done, they told me to call back next quarter, then send an expulsion letter for not attending for 60 days, I went in, they said it was a mistake. A week later the head master calls and offers me a degree in legal assisting, I said no. They were never planning to offer the class again, they were closing. I did not even no that they closed until after they closed.The head master asked if I wanted to just include some class I never took and give me the assistant certificate. So they entered me as last day of attendance in June of 2000, started collection.. I never saw a report card, when i searched for info I got the run around. They added a F grade for advanced keyboard, when I was the fastest in the class and took two transcription classses before that and got a B and a C, which is also altered. They put the grade of C on a couple of classes and one D for drop,, and a W for withdrawl of another one . I just found this out.Someone not only was paranoid that I would rat on them, they knew me as the type who would sue them, but they stole from me what I not only paid for, I earned, which were the grades I recieved. They have a 2.35 gpa when it was more like a 3. It looks better to have the 2..35 on the transcript , with the last class dropped, like I intentionally just took off, barely missing the 120 day time limit for school closure. Like I said, they included the class I need to graduate and put a B on it, so they can say I didn't show up for the last elective class, the required class was already attended, which it was not, putting all the blame on me. As if I would attend every class and drop an elective class at the end and dissapear. This is now past business, this is personal. If anyone knows anyone who worked At Lee College in West Hills, which was also Southern California college of Court Reporting, Quest Education Corp, Kaplan college, then Kaplan higher education, then Maric in 2004, any students, administrators, janitors, publications, anything with lee, I would like. There was a Mr. Cook , A black man who was head master when I was enrolled, he was fired, there was a Mr. Widman, i think, a public defender, Mrs. Tenzer, or Tinzer, law teacher/attorney in los angeles, Sam Rose, instructor, a woman named kathleen Thompson, former figure skater, with her brother, was a getting divorced mother of three, those are the only full names I remember. I want to know if anyone knows the finance woman, who worked at Lee and later at Kaplan in panorama city, then Maric maybe until 2007 , maybe never left and still works for them, she coud have been an executive administrator. She is a shark, worse than any car sales finance guys I ever knew, and I sold cars for a year. Rene , the last name was Micelak, or Michalek, or any other interchangeable name, I dont recall , I do know he owned a 76 station in Woodland Hills before the early 90s with her husband and she handled all the back room operation,on Fallbrook and Vanowen Blvd.. These people, in their activities to save their own butts from prison, altered my grades, classes I took, ruined my life for the most part, I just found this out 19 years later. Oh, I forgot, something that they didn't think of, in 2000 they made the paralegal certificate they offered not even good, the school was not approved by the State Bar, yet they enrolled me and many others in 1999 with the program not set to complete until over half way into 2000. They then lobbied to have the law changed back, but even so, the schools still have to be accredited with the ABA and SBA, all they did was make a law with nobody to enforce it. They even put Maric on the loan as the school attended. This was conspiracy, fraud in the inducement. There is no statute of limitations on my type of loan , there was when I took out the loan, and they couldn't attach certain things like social security, but, they changed that after they breeched the contract as well. So I am exposed forever, and they can take 15 percent of my social security. If I worked now, and made 400 gross, they could take nothing, 1600 a month, or 1200 net, not attached. When I am old and cant work, they take 150 out of 1000 I will recieve. I havent been able to work in my career which was as a PI, I let my license voluntarily lapse while I attended school, you had three years to pay the fee and renew, they changed the law while I was over one year, to one year so I lost my license and I cant even get a corporate Investiagtor job, or anything that pays and is challenging, because of the Student Loan on my credit, I lost a few more jobs only after they found out about the debt... They didn't treat teachers right there, I think I can get one to tell me something I can use. I might offer a reward for that Rene . This should be interesting now.

Failure to disclose
Kaplan University ( Now Purdue University) recruiters will tell you that they are Accredited and their credits are accepted by most universities. This is a falsehood. Their response to my complaint was, "Its not our fault they wont accept credits from us. Many colleges and universities will not accept their credits. However when recruiting this information was not presented by Kaplan to future students.. They dropped their grade standards to acquire more Federal Funding and passed students who were not in the least competent in their courses and or in certain instances Basic Computer Skills to maintain this funding. I am one of those students.

Almost finished dream crushed
So I was doing great with college until they told me I had a week to come up with $1000. This on top of being a new mom leaving me no choice but to drop out. Now I'm trying to get my credits transferred and even though I'm paying on my student loans for these guys they refuse to let me have them. :'(

Great School!
I was able to complete both my bachelor and master degrees at the school. I went through class with no problems. I found that I got out of class what I put in. I had to do the work to study and remain diligent. I would recommend the school. I found the classes interesting and challenging. My degrees are in business. I found the instructors engaging and helpful. They were also very knowledgeable. The externship allowed me to be the sales manager at Kaplan Radio. I was also with a team able to run a corporation start up moving forward to sales and profitability using real-world possibilities and making corporate decisions based on my position in the virtual company.

Kaplan contacted me this morning and they have resolved the issue very professionally. I will be sent agreement in writing, as well as be able to continue with Masters program and get my diploma upon pay off of loan in next 4 terms.
Even though I somehow slipped through cracks and wasnt supposed to be rolled into masters program until paid in full, Kaplan is honoring their original agreement and letting me continue. Theyve also provided me with the counseling department for help with personal issues and forwarded me over to their disability department to help in anyway that they can help me. Im very pleased at the turn around to resolve this situation and look forward to getting back to working on my next degree in a much more serene mindset. Very pleased with Kaplan overall, and love my professors.
So, Im getting back to working towards a better future through continued education. Nina Jones

Hello, I found you by accident and pray someone can help me. Below is just basic info to see if you can help, or refer me to someone that can. I have all documentation and correspondence collaborating between myself and all parties involved at Kaplan, its saved and ready if needed. Current Student and Graduate with no diploma or official transcripts due to lie after lie by Kaplan who sells degrees, not an education. I speak to them a couple times a week and currently in school, but keep getting locked out and harrassed. Im so disgusted with Kaplan University who is in process of being bought by Purdue University. I graduated a bachelors in science psychology in april 2017, they ran out of funding for my bachelors and gave me a personal loan 2 terms before graduating and rolled me into the masters program promising that there would be no problems with having an outstanding loan with them since FAFSA had paid my bachelors and the new loan on my masters .. Ive been locked out of classes as of now for my masters program with Kaplan demanding I pay the balance on personal loan $5000.00 before I can get back into class even though FAFSA has paid my student account current .. They refuse to give me my diploma or official transcripts from graduating my bachelors in April, these were all lies to get me into masters program and now 5.5 years of my life has been dedicated to Kaplan and my education for nothing, and I was a 3.89 GPA entire time. Im on disability with severe mental health issues. Suicidal ideation has occurred on more than one occasion since being harrassed weekly by Kaplan. They have no empathy or compassion, they are selling degrees, not an education. I have multiple emails and phone calls that have gotten me nowhere and Im at my wits end. Any help I can get on this matter would be greatly appreciated. Ive been scammed and now afraid of them garnishing my disability check 30%. I cannot live on this, I just want to give up on life because Im going to end up homeless, and Im scared to death. KAPLAN IS HORRIBLE
I attended Kaplan online in 2012-**** when I should have received my Bachelors degree but instead I recieved a email stating I owed money. Now I was completely confused being that I had finanicial aid as well as school funding so how was this possible. How did my aid run out without me even being acknowledged? 1700.00 is what KAPLAN is saying I owe them for what, I have no idea. On top of that. I have roughly 2 classes left which they have told me I must pay out of pocket and remind you, these classes are a couple of $1000 dollars EACH. Being a single mother of two, this is finacial tragedy. My education is not only on stand still but I am in educational DEBT because of the lack of communication and scams from this school. 2 yrs later, I find out its on my credit and has lowered my score. Again. kaplan has no explanations or sympathy for anything at all. Why do they wait until graduation before they finacially screw you over. Please HELP. I can't go on with my goals or educational plans because of this. And I just want to better myself for my children but Kaplan could careless.

Kaplan's Horrible Finance Department
I attended Kaplan University online over two years ago. I thought this was a great way for me to get my degree and still allow me to work full time to earn money. The admissions department was super nice and got me all signed up. During the classes I realized how unorganized this school actually was. At first I just assumed that this was a new school that was just starting out but I was in shock when I was told it wasn't. I didn't attend Kaplan for longer than a semester due to the fact I absolutely couldn't absorb any of the information that was being taught. Which I personally believe that I am just not meant for online schooling. While I was not totally in love with how the material was presented what makes me really angry is Kaplan's Finance department. Turns out over two years later while trying to get my transcripts I now owe Kaplan a total of $777, which I have to pay before they will release my transcripts. I don't have a problem paying the money but what no one at Kaplan will answer is why was I not contacted about this balance before. According to my account there I owe them $0 because February of last year they wrote of my debt to collections. Another thing they won't answer is to what collections agency? I am anal about checking my credit and have zero debt in collections at this time, I was baffled to see that I owed that much in collections and even more dumbfounded as to why I wasn't contacted by anybody for over a year. If you are late one a credit card payment they call you day and night how am I supposed to believe that they wouldn't call me about my balance. Trying to an answer out of these people is a joke. I have had at lest two people tell me that they will call me back and of course I get nothing. I call them I get transferred and hung up on. I absolutely would not recommend this college for the simple fact of they are seriously unorganized.

Kaplan University Fraud
You don't have to wait until close to graduation to be ripped on in the financial aid department. They said I had to use their private lender for my aid because I did not qualify for the Pell Grant. So I did or so I thought, I found out today that there are 16 Stafford loans in my name totaling almost $70,000 and didn't even complete the course because they started calling me and telling me that to continue I would have to pay $1000 more up front per class in order to continue. Who can afford that? I want help with this matter. I tried to get help from the student Loan Debt forgiveness and even they want more money than I have just to help.

Kaplan university direct deposit
I am not sure why Kaplan can not set up direct deposit I am waiting on a check no fault of Kaplan but it is lost in the mail somewhere and I am about to be homeless if this money don't come, but if Kaplan had direct deposit then I would not have to worry about a check getting lost, but over all I don't have no problem with Kaplan they work with you to do good in class they help you one on one always there when I need them, I am talking about the Kaplan in Indianapolis, I enjoy the school just really wish they offered direct deposit. I never had any problems getting my check never any problems with my money just no direct deposit

Told one thing that never happened
As i was coming up to graduation everything was going fine until i finished I was denied my degree due to a $1000.00 bill on my account. That $1000.00 was to be a grant that they gave me when I signed up for courses. I argued with them and even sent them a copy of the grant and they wouldn't honor it. So after taking all the courses and getting stuck with the student loans I still have nothing to show for it and I graduated in 2010 and its know 2016. I know that its just a piece of paper but its something that means more and to not honor it can change they way you look at it.

Have their practices investigated
Unrealistic document due dates and no contact from academic advising for several weeks. My academic adviser literally blamed my former high school for not holding onto my academic records for 24 years when they are only required to hold onto it for 5. 50 attempts to get student just to get the student verification forms submitted and 15 attempts to get the high school transcripts to them. I left one university due to its discrimination practices only to get treated like trash by this one. The professors are great, but the rest could not care less. Good thing I do know of some attorneys that have advised me about where to look.

Horrible School VET DO NOT GO HERE
THIS School is the worse I am a Military vet I enroll in this school to obtain a degree in my field of study, during my school term I was deployed after notifying my teachers and administrative staff that I was about to leave a few months later i receive a notification that i was disenroll instead of in hold status when I returned in march i inquired about why i was disenrolled only to find out that instead of putting me in hold status the teachers and administration FAIL ME in both classes bringing my GPA to a 1.01 after showing proof that I was deployed at the time I was reenrolled but the Fs remain I inquired to why it had been changed I receive no reply or don't worry about it after passing my current classes and thus the term I was excited because I only had one class left when I logged in the next day to begin my last term courses I found out that I was disenrolled again and kick out of the university.I called immediately only to find out that even my advisor had no clue why I was disenrolled if you are a VET DO NOT GO TO THIS SCHOOL they will steal your G.I bill and then Denied you the degree for no reason I'm still fighting this issue myself but fair warning DO NOT GO TO THIS SCHOOL it's full of liars and deceitful people.

I have been attending Kaplan for several years now and I am working on my master's degree. they are very expensive and all they seem to want to do is increase the workload in having students disseminate enormous amounts of information and apply it to hypothetical scenarios that the student has to make believe. There is almost no time to absorb any of the information covered in the time allotted. I am worn down exhausted and I feel no more intelligent than before I started. There was a time when I loved to learn, but Kaplan has all but destroyed that. The live seminars were great, but again with trying to cover so much in such a short time there is so much missed and the interaction has all but disappeared It only seems to get worse every day I attend, especially since the Washington Post sold them off.

Kaplan is an institution that not only misrepresent them selves and misleads each and every student "even if they are not aware" . Kaplan universities polices and practices are getting out of control and, I further more do not understand why they have not been closed down or investigated by the Department of education for unlawful practice's and misappropriation of government funds and student loans and further more fraud. On December 12, 2007 I began Maric collage Bakersfield, located at 1914 Wible road Bakersfield, California As a student in the paralegal program in hope to fulfill my life long dream of obtaining a legal and professional career, unfortunately that was not the case . When entering Maric collage Of course I was told all about how wonderful this institution was and how Maric's Paralegal department was outstanding, Lead by Mr. J. Jameison Jr As I started to really excel in the program obtaining honors and perfect attendance the school program director Becky Anderson had asked me to become the ambassador to the paralegal program ..ie; giving speeches and helping coordinate guest speakers to come visit the institution in hopes of furthering job placement for upcoming Grads, Of course I assumed the position with great hopes for this would really look great on my résumé. Well after about four months into my courses I had started to get bills for immediate payment, when I was told by my academic advisor that I would have no out of pocket expenses.. of course no matter what I paid the bills to keep in the program. Well to speed up my story I started to really notice that not only the staff members but the students in the collage where being mislead or angered at the collage making students who transferred from " A real collage (Bakersfield community collage) with A's had been made to retake classes that they had already taken so that Kaplan would receive the full tuition Disbursements from all students. This really became a huge issue at the collage but also many students "me included" never received any of our living expenses, but were being asked for more moneys than originally told the program would cost. So students and staff started to leave Kaplan under weird circumstances, then to find out it was due to staff trying to stand up for it's students rights, so they were terminated. Students leaving because of the overwhelming lack of understanding about why we were being charged different amounts and being forced to sign New contracts with the school, also charges for things we never received books, supplies, excreta.. during this time we had gone through three different program directors like MR. Anthony Halley and a few more came and gone.. We students also at this time started up a Law club, man they really tossed me to the wolves with this one . First they had let a student from the criminal justice program be the lead Present at first " allowing her to handle club moneys, but they never even bothered to do a back ground check on this person, even before letting her take criminal justice program . well as time went on we worked with the staff members at Kaplan and any and all students of the cjp.(criminal justice and paralegal programs) earning money for the club to take students on educational field trip "jails district courts and so on.. Fist time a staff member mishandled the moneys from the club due to the director insistence that the staff at Kaplan keep the moneys in a safe place for the club, "Yeah right" it somehow just vanished, so of course we as students who had already made reservations in the city of San Francisco had to uphold our end of the bargain and make down payments to the destinations, we re organized the club and had opened our own bank account to maintain or hard earned money from bake sales serving dinners at the school to gather the money needed to put 70 students on the field trip, So the president and secretary of the club were the only ones who had access to the money. well they decided one day to go and empty out the account and also have any and all moneys from the down payments made reimbursed to them "at there homes not the school.. when I found out I was outraged, I had went to Mrs. Becky Anderson to talk about what was going on and ask if she would aid me in reporting this issue to the police Becky said of course she would, then found out she could also be held liable and refused to help me prosecute these people for such an amoral crime, embezzling charitable funds and misappropriation of club funds and fraud. So I myself called the police to make report well to find out that the president of the Law club at the time was using an alias name in fact she had three names known to the Bakersfield Police department ..I was in awe about this how did a person with previous criminal background and problems with the Law even get into a program that teaches law. After all the turmoil I ended up with no charges and 70 student wanting there money paid, refunded again I went to Mrs. Becky Anderson for help she had verbally said she and the school would donate 700 dollars to help me pay back the students, even sent me a letter confirming the agreement . well when push came to shove she refused to comply with our agreement, and I personally held car washes ever weekend until each student was paid off, with the help of ex police officer now director of the CJP Anthony Haley and Mr. Ed Hammon we sent letters to Kaplan universities chair members informing them on the issues at hand with the collage and Tonya huerrta aka ex president of the Law club well needless to say that got us no where. Further more this ended up being the tip of the ice burg.. a few months later I was told they where graduating out the Paralegal club at the Bakersfield compass and I had only had two classes left to complete my course studies, They told Mr Jameson he would no longer be needed and they could not afford to keep him on staff ..where was I in all this. left behind and pushed into Kaplan online I went from only needing to take one class of civ pro to being told I had needed six more months online( "more money" big rip off ) for the school. Also that I had to repeat classes I had gotten an A in, in the classroom setting, So I started to look at other options finding out that I had already been charge tuition for Kaplan on line and my Student loans were over lapping" really" how is that when I never signed any thing or agreed to go online" it just was not for me." after checking into several other Universities I found out that was a bunch B.S., not to mention that they are supposed to be an accredited University, what that really means is they are an accredited school of higher learning, not an accredited University, a big difference. It was disappointing to find out that a good majority of the credits and courses that I would earn from Kaplan would not transfer over to some of the other Universities I wanted to attend... After investigated on my own I had found out that not only did Maric forged my signature when it changed its name to Kaplan university but It also over charged me for classes I never had to take. Putting me in such a outstanding debt with the Department of Education "unbelievable ". So here I am three years later no degree 17, 000.00 plus in loans .. trying to discharge this debt due to fraud and getting nothing but harassed every five minutes by the finance department from Kaplan and creditors, just today from 8 am to 11 am 12 calls from unknown numbers and collectors trying to get full payments from me . After all the turmoil I ended up with no charges and 70 student wanting there money paid, refunded again I went to Mrs. Becky Anderson for help she had verbally said she and the school would donate 700 dollars to help me pay back the students, even sent me a letter confirming the agreement . well when push came to shove she refused to comply with our agreement, and I personally held car washes ever weekend until each student was paid off, with the help of ex police officer now director of the CJP Anthony Haley and Mr. Ed Hammon we sent letters to Kaplan universities chair members informing them on the issues at hand with the collage and Tonya huerrta aka ex president of the Law club well needless to say that got us no where. Further more this ended up being the tip of the ice burg.. a few months later I was told they where graduating out the Paralegal club at the Bakersfield compass and I had only had two classes left to complete my course studies, They told Mr Jameson he would no longer be needed and they could not afford to keep him on staff ..where was I in all this. left behind and pushed into Kaplan online I went from only needing to take one class of civ pro to being told I had needed six more months online( "more money" big rip off ) for the school. Also that I had to repeat classes I had gotten an A in, in the classroom setting, So I started to look at other options finding out that I had already been charge tuition for Kaplan on line and my Student loans were over lapping" really" how is that when I never signed any thing or agreed to go online" it just was not for me." after checking into several other Universities I found out that was a bunch B.S., not to mention that they are supposed to be an accredited University, what that really means is they are an accredited school of higher learning, not an accredited University, a big difference. It was disappointing to find out that a good majority of the credits and courses that I would earn from Kaplan would not transfer over to some of the other Universities I wanted to attend... After investigated on my own I had found out that not only did Maric forged my signature when it changed its name to Kaplan university but It also over charged me for classes I never had to take. Putting me in such a outstanding debt with the Department of Education "unbelievable ". So here I am three years later no degree 17, 000.00 plus in loans .. trying to discharge this debt due to fraud and getting nothing but harassed every five minutes by the finance department from Kaplan and creditors, just today from 8 am to 11 am 12 calls from unknown numbers and collectors trying to get full payments from me . I believe this institution should be closed down and I know I am not the only one.
