Adoption of a dog!

We drove to hours after filling out an application. Only to be lied to, told a different price 3 times. Have the dog adopted to someone else, even though they knew we wanted the dog and could not make a payment on their site. Made payment and then had to drive an extra 30 minutes to pick up cash because they couldn't refund us on zelle. 8 1/2 hours later we made it home minus the dog.

Never go near this awful company

First, don't be fooled into thinking this is a rescue. They're buying puppies dirt cheap out of state then selling them to you here in Colorado, slapping the word "rescue" on them. They're nothing more than a puppy mill outlet. Bought a dog (still have and love her BTW). She had worms. Her spay went wrong. They forgot to microchip her. None of these are huge issues - it all came down to their response. Nothing but excuses, and downright ignoring me for three weeks. I had to threaten to dispute the $450 charge for the "rescue" puppy on my credit card to even get them to respond to my texts. They claim they "only have high school students available to help save these puppies" and therefore can't manage to respond to the veterinarian requesting shot records. Pathetic company. Never go near them, or you'll find out the hard way.

Great experience and wonderful family pet

We adopted our sweet dog Lucky from Iresq 4 years ago. He was being fostered by our neighbor and we fell in love with him. He had a broken leg and was going to be put down otherwise if left in the kill shelter. Iresq helped facilitate the medical care and the adoption process was pretty simple. We couldn't be happier. The organization supported us through the entire process. They work around the clock to save dogs from high kill shelters in Texas and street dogs that are dumped on the side of the road. This organization is run on volunteers that work endlessly to save the lives of innocent dogs that would otherwise be euthanized or killed on the streets. About 12 of my neighbors have also adopted from Iresq in the last couple years and they are also extremely happy with their beautiful and loving pets. No organization is perfect, but they do try their best to save these animals and provide loving homes. I have become a foster myself and take in dogs when I can leading up to their adoptions. My kids have also started volunteering to help at adoption events. There are literally thousands of people that are happy with their adoptions from Iresq and a small percentage that are not. Please take this into consideration and know that good people are out there trying to save these innocent pets at Iresq.

Please Foster/Adopt from This Awesome Rescue

IResQ is comprised of very caring dog people who rescue from shelters where the animal might not survive if it weren’t for them. We have fostered several puppies & dogs through them, and then adopted 2 great dogs from them. They always do the utmost they can for these precious rescued dogs. They do not have a facility so they need foster families to be able to do their great work. The IResQ team works tirelessly on behalf of the dogs. There are always people who may be disgruntled for some reason but I know firsthand what a wonderful rescue organization this is.

The other side of this story-

I am a member of the board with iResQ, and I am honestly appalled at all of you people who are writing these terrible reviews, full of lies and embellishments. Any and all of your negativity towards ANY rescue entity only causes animals to die. All rescues take in difficult to place animals, ones that are on the euthanasia list, and any negativity only leads to more of those animals being put to sleep. Don’t be an animal killer. We are a board run organization, our volunteers simply put our works, words and efforts into action at adoption events etc. Some facts for all of you: 1. Read your contract - everything you are writing reviews about, not receiving paperwork, or not being given an appointment time until the last minute - it is all clearly stated within your contract and covered by volunteers at events, not to mention the puppy pack sent via email. You only receive paperwork after completion of your spay/neuter appointment. YOU signed and agreed to this. 2. Deposits -again clearly stated in your contract. It is a requirement by state law in order to operate as a rescue to take a deposit if the animal is going home unaltered. We try to make this easy by asking for a check for the deposit amount so that when you complete your contractual obligation of getting your pet to the vet for surgery, we can simply destroy the check. Therefore no monies ever leave your account for the deposit UNLESS you fail to uphold your contractual obligation. 3. Spending thousands of dollars on a rescue animal- this can be what happens when you own a pet, rescued or not. We do everything we can to minimize this outcome as we do not want your pet to be ill or suffer in any way. We have a strict intake protocol where all animals are dewormed and given supportive care to insure their health. Unfortunately we can't predict what will happen once they go home any better than a doctor sending home a newborn baby. We try to offer solutions to help save adopters some money but in the end the adopter decides what type of care their pet receives. 4. Microchips are included with the adoption fee, however we can only supply them when they are available to us. We order as many as we can and they are sent to us, however if they are on backorder with the supplier we can't make a supplier give us what they do not have. HOWEVER you are more than welcome to contact us and let us know you are still without microchip and we can schedule you to go to our vet at no charge or if we have a volunteer who will be at the events that is comfortable with giving a microchip you can stop by the event. Let's clear the air about another issue. Dawn- first and foremost is a VOLUNTEER. She helped this rescue get started by filing paperwork for the rescue and her name is on record, only because she helped in the beginning. She in no way is the "owner" of this rescue. Yes she drives a Range Rover, yes her son helps with adoption events, yes her daughter helps with adoption events. Dawn also donates her OWN money towards veterinary expenses. Thank goodness for people who volunteer/donate/foster to help a rescue organization otherwise we wouldn't be able to save death row dogs. There are reviews of dogs dying of illness- welcome to rescue. All of the animals we "pull" from the euthanasia lists of shelters have been exposed to only God knows what, they see a vet while they are in the shelter, they see a vet once they are being loaded onto transport, and OUR vet will see your adopted puppy for their scheduled surgery/shots/etc, at NO CHARGE to the pet owner. When a dog breaks with an illness we offer for that animal to go to our vet at NO CHARGE to the owner. Yet we are a horrible rescue? In all honesty we could completely disregard your messages and emails and so forth because by contract the animal is now in your care and by being an animal owner you are responsible for all medical costs/care for that animal. AS YOU SHOULD BE, again- welcome to rescue. HOWEVER we do not, DAWN is the vetting coordinator volunteer and she contacts the board with all of your requests, gets approval to send to OUR vet (who is a partnered veterinarian overseeing the care of all of our animals in our program) at NO CHARGE to you. Furthermore lets get into the nitty gritty, adoption. When you come to our adoption events we have dogs that you can choose from and we can only tell you what we know about them. Most of the time that is very limited, they come from high kill shelters where they were facing euthanasia. Most are picked up as strays from the street- meaning they have no idea how to be pets- and others were owner surrendered because people in areas over run by animals on the street have no regard for their pets and throw them away, with little to no care. As for the dogs that come from the reservation. I dare any of you to go out to the reservation and look at the shelter. No dog deserves to end up there. We take as many as we can, and yes some may have illness (welcome to rescue). We have them checked by our vet, do all we can with preventatives and hope for the best, we tell the adopters to contact us if they start to show any signs of illness.... this does NOT mean after a dog has not eaten or drank for 2-3 days, and/or has a snout full of boogers that "just showed up". Clearly for those of you posting such negativity we should have never adopted to you, and for that I apologize for not seeing your true colors, our animals deserved better. If you are looking for a perfect full bred puppy - some words of advice: DO NOT go to an adoption event. Dogs in rescue are not perfect, they have character flaws and quirks but hearts so full of love for anyone who shows them kindness. They deserve the best homes available, not a snarky home where if they aren’t “perfect” they are not worthy of proper care or your love. WE THANK AND APPRECIATE THE THOUSANDS OF ADOPTERS WHO LOVE THEIR PETS AND ARE COMMITTED TO CARING FOR THEM NO MATTER THE OUTCOME! Because of you, we have been able to keep saving lives!

IResQ is an awful fraudulent "non-profit"

I adopted a puppy after meeting it at a PetSmart. All seemed fine until the dog would need eat at home and had terrible skin (it is a rescue so understandable). Dawn, the owner of iResQ, was supposed to contact me after testing the siblings to let me know about any possible diseases/parasites. After reaching at multiple times throughout the next week Dawn responded saying the others had coccidia and our dog needed medication (would have been nice to know sooner). We were also NEVER given any shot records (she probably never received any shots) even after requesting multiple times. Following this as well as continued lack of appetite, severe eye infection, and diarrhea, the vet recommended postponing the spay. Dawn said that was fine and said we would aim for September. During September on a Tuesday evening, Dawn texts me saying our dog has a spay appointment for Thursday. I respond saying I cannot make that date with such short notice. She replies stating that we already discussed September and I would be forfeiting my $150 deposit and "free" spay (included in the $400 adoption fee). I said that was ridiculous and two days notice was unrealistic. I was available everyday the following week or that Friday. After much attitude (from Dawn) and back and forth texts, I was able to schedule an appointment for the following week. After a spay you are supposed to contact the organization and request a refund for the spay deposit. We contacted iResQ NUMEROUS times with no response. We finally brought the issue to our credit card company, who threatened litigation, and were refunded. The microchip that is "included" was also on "backorder". We just moved on all payed for all shots, vet visits and microchip at our normal vet. It was not worth the dealing with Dawn and her awful attitude. My experience with iResQ was terrible, to say the least. I love my puppy and am happy I have her but please adopt from any other rescue that deserves your money.

Fostered a Mother and 9 Pups and was Never Reimbursed for Fees Incurred

I have tried by email and text multiple times to get reimbursed for just over $400 in puppy formula and potty pads that I spent while fostering a Geman Shepherd and her 9 puppies that were birthed at my home. I adore dogs which is why I have fostered for them in the past, but I will not foster for Iresq ever again. In addition to spending a lot of money that I personally didn't have to spend (I put items on credit cards), we helped care for a beautiful litter of puppies for over 6 weeks. I was told to purchase the items needed to care for them and would then be reimbursed. It has been 2 months since the puppies were at my home and I submitted the receipts. I have also since asked in text messages and in 3 emails when I would be reimbursed. I only received one response (after several attempts at correspondence and also threatening small claims court and disclosing their bad business practices). The response did not tell me when or even if I would get payment. I am finally filing a complaint in small claims court for non-payment, which is unbelievable to me. I would recommend people not support them by not buying their adoptable pets or (even more so) by not fostering for them. Fostering can be very challenging to begin with and not getting paid for the expenses incurred while you are opening your home to stray animals is both sad and disheartening. For an organization that claims to care for animals, it seems more like they really just care for the profit they get when they charge $650 per dog (what they charged for those puppies).

Amazing rescue

Incredible conscientious rescue. We send many of our rescue dogs here from Houston and they are in amazing hands. The director constantly helps us with dietary and treatment questions we have and her advice is always spot on.

Terrible medical care, grifters

We adopted a puppy who had not been kept up to date with shots prior to adoption, was sick and ended up having viral pneumonia after only a couple days at home. The puppy sadly died less than a week after we adopted. Not only were we denied a refund for any veterinary costs we incurred for the emergency vet, but we were chastised for not using their vet (over an hour away in an emergency situation) and blamed for our treatment of the dog - as though we are murderous psychopaths who like to spend over $1000 to kill poor sweet puppies. The people working there have no interpersonal skills and refuse to take any responsibility. Don’t expect to get any refunds back, and expect a lot of heartache if you adopt from iResQ. STAY AWAY.

HORRIBLE Customer Service

It makes me upset to see such a good cause being run by someone who does not know what they are doing. I adopted my puppy a little over three weeks ago and he is perfectly healthy but we were promised quite a few things that were not followed through on. We were told that we would be sent an email with info about our new puppy, we were told all his shots would be taken care of as well as his neuter and that the organization would reach out to us about that... none of this has happened. I have emailed, called, sent texts, and then finally resorted to facebook messaging where I finally did get a reply. The reply I got was anything but helpful because they just gave me another number to call for a lady named Dawn who didn't even pick up my call or respond to me. As a dog mom all I want is for my pup to be healthy, up to date with vaccinations, etc. I am sure anyone reading can relate. It is frustrating when an organization makes you write a $150 check on top of the $400 for adopting and says if you dont bring your dog back for the shots and neuter then we keep your money. I would have willingly brought him back if someone would have just contacted me or responded to my many messages. It is not my fault that the organization itself did not do as they promised... and I hope I can get that money back but knowing these people I'm sure they will just pocket it. After reading what is on here there is NO WAY I let these people have any control over my puppy. The only reason I am still bothering with them is because they are withholding the medical records for the dog I own. DO NOT adopt from these people. It has been such a pain just trying to get my pup the medical care he needs. I am all for adopting but I hope that someone else takes this place over because this is no way to run a business.

HORRIBLE HORRIBLE SERVICE

It makes me so sad that such a great cause is run by such horrible people. I adopted my puppy about 3 weeks ago and they promised me that they would contact us with details about our puppy and would get shots and a neuter taken care of for him... all lies. We have heard nothing from them and they forced us to write a check to promise to bring him back for these services but they can't even contact us about those services. Nor can they respond to phone calls, texts or emails. DO NOT adopt from here unless you want to fight with them. The owners of this place will not even release his medical records. I own this dog and they won't give me his medical records? Something is seriously wrong with this place. I hate to say don't adopt but it was such a pain working with these people so if you're going to adopt just don't do it here. If you can get around their rules and uneducated volunteers then go for it because the puppy we got is amazing. Best of luck to anyone who has dealt with issues like this or is currently dealing with them.

Dawn (owner) is an awful person

Picked up my dog from the Paws and Spa place in Golden. They have events there often. Right away she was sick but we were in love with her. First off I had to drive to Fort Morgan for some reason to have my dog get her spay at some chop shop. I call to check in hours later and Dawn says she’s sorry but my dog has swollen lymph nodes. I pick the dog back up from Fort Morgan and Dawn hands me a bag of meds in a plastic baggy. I make arrangements with Dawn to have my dog spayed at “her Vet” Golden Paws Animal Hospital. I take the dog there to get all the boosters/shots etc and schedule a time to get the spay. In the meantime, she is already on Antibiotics for Urlichia. The Vet Dr. Sam tells me to wait a few months before we get her spay. I follow instructions and ask Dawn for my deposit back but she says I was outside of the “window.” Mind you she knew all about our dog and was up in our business on how to take care of her. Long story short, my dog just passed away 4 days after turning 1 from Valley Fever. They get their dogs off the Ute Mountain Reservior where Valley Fever and other diseases run rampant. They round them all up, drive all the puppies they can back to Denver and Golden area and sell them for $400-$500 with known diseases. Shame on you Dawn. You know you are getting sick dogs and making a profit. Maybe you should tell “your vet” Dr. Sam to do a Titer test on these dogs immediately. I paid thousands for this dog only to find out she has been sick this entire time by dying suddenly. DONT RESCUE FROM HERE

Poor Customer Service

I attempted to foster a little gal from this rescue site. I had her with me for a week, and it came time to take her back to Petco for there adoption event. They put her in a little cage and the look of fear on her face was devastating. She was the only little dog among other rather large dogs. I took her out of the cage, and she just clung to me. It was at that time I decided to adopt her. I thought the adoption fee of 400.00 was rather high??? But they had me as I was not going to let this little dog go back in any cage. I was given two sheets of paper, and was told they would be out to look at my home to make sure it was safe for her. Well needless to say, I never ever heard from them again. No inspection or follow up. I tried to get a hold of the company without any luck. Long story short, she has been the best little pup I have ever had. She is very smart and talented. She is so loving now, and loves cuddles and belly rubs. She has learned so many tricks, and commands. She is so tuned in to me and my commands. Just a simple hand gesture and she is on it. Once she learned she was safe, and could trust again it has all been up hill from there. I would never ever part with her as she is my loving companion, and she so loves her momma. But, I would never buy another dog from this rescue. I will do more research, and do business with a reputable company. I only hope the best for the poor little animals.

Shady

Saw some pups a while back, they seemed to be in very bad health. The "foster" people seemed shady like they didn't care about the puppies at all. I would guess the pups are bought from mills real cheap and resold for a higher prophet. All the poor babies looked very ill, dry noses. I saw bloody runny poo very quickly cleanend out of cages so the buyers wouldnt see. Very insistant upon only touching one breed im thinking because of risk to infect the others with possible parvo, parasites or worms, which should not be as huge of a concern if they had shots as they so claim. Im almost certain one of the" voulnteers" was or is currently a heroin user, if not heroin currently then pills. Other shady shady women with aweful sketchy vibes. Shady adoption process in general, paperwork seemed fake. Gave some real round about or vauge awnsers to simple questions, like where the dogs came from. Some older dogs seemed upset i think its wrong have been crated the way they were all day long im assuming without a potty break, came when they first set up shop at green paw and spaw. I circled the building many times that day because i wanted to save at leat one of those poor animals but knew i couldnt afford a possible 5,000 dollars in vet bills. I also knew i didnt want to support any potential *** Bad taste in my mouth for sure they seem to be heartless like they dont even care about the dogs. If what i think is true( and my intuition hardly ever misleads me ) and what the other reviews say is true shame on you. you women are wicked your dark souls will be tourmented by misfortune, illness, and grief and you will pay the debt placed on your soul. You will feel the consiquenses for what harm you have bestowed upon the innocents and the people who wanted to take them in to their homes share their love with them. You will suffer greatly in your lifes, as you may already. You will suffer not by my hands but by the hands of our great universe, far worse than the hands of any human. I'll pray for you an your opportunity to redeem yourself.

Sick puppy cost us thousands of dollars!

This place is absolutely HORRIBLE! I would NEVER go to this “rescue” and would recommend EVERYONE tos yay away from this horrid people. They sold us a sick puppy that’s costed us over 7k in vet bills. Didn’t get her neutered, couldn’t present legitimate shot records and the department of agriculture let’s them scam people for money. It is a mother and her kids who find puppies and sell them for hundreds of dollars! DO NOT go to this place, we could have paid significantly less for a pure bred dog with papers than we paid to save this puppy.

Terrible Rescue

Wish I had read reviews before (I love my sweet puppy but dealing with this rescue is a nightmare). A week after adopting our puppy we noticed she was still lethargic and won’t eat much (after we bought all of the expensive dog food dawn recommended). We contacted Dawn to see if other puppies in the litter were having similar issues. After days Dawn returns my call and says they’ve been busy. She found out days ago the other puppies have coccidia and are being treated. I then ask if we can get koda the medication immediately. She says she will call back with a vet appt time. If I had not been persistent she would have never let me know. Because of the coccidia and other issues, dawn agrees to postpone the spay until the last week of September. On Tuesday of that week, Dawn texts me and says koda will have a spay appointment Thursday. I tell her I have to travel for work that day and cannot make it however any other day will work. She replies and says I am putting my deposit in jeoporady we had agreed upon that week. I reply and say I didn’t realize a week consisted of one day. I am trying to be flexible but I have a job. Dawn is extremely rude the entire conservation. She then says the appointment is already set and if I can’t make it I can contact the vet and see if they can move it but they will likely be upset. I call the vet and schedule the spay for the next available time, Monday. I apologize and they laugh and say it is no big deal. The day of the spay we follow all steps to receive our deposit back. No surprise, we do not get a response. A couple weeks pass and still nothing. We send multiple emails with no reply. We finally report fraud to our credit card company after explaining the situation. Bottom line, please adopt but do not adopt from iResq. Give your money to a rescue that deserves it.
