Billing complaint

Rental rate was 92.65 a night and was charged higher prices for 2 nights of a 4 night stay in excess of $153 ea. Hotel would not answer the phone when called and I had to call corp office. They could only communicate my problem to the hotel but could not get me a credit. The hotel itself was filthy and 1980's dated. Hallways and rooms smelled like mold and there were trash cans in the hallway to collect water for 4 days straight. Downright NASTY. Breakfast? Really, coffee and granola bars were all that were offered. Well, my fault for not looking into this poorly operated and maintained hotel. Wont happen to me twice at this place or Howard Johnsons hotels. I don't like the way their corporate office handled their member.

Couldn't believe the stay

I have pictures to show you the carpet is bad. The bathroom unbelievable, no towels, no bathclothes and the shower is broken. Also the bathroom door is broken. The large window has a crack down the middle. The sheet that is the only bed covers has *** in it. There are bruns on the table. The webb site said they have breakfast but there is no breakfast but coffee.

Cant check out early with without losing money

We checked in around 1am. The toilet wasn't working in bathroom. Maintenence came around 9am to explain to me that I should've jiggled the string around in toilet tank to make it work. As a guest, why would I jiggle any string in a toilet. They refused to switch room for me. Then discovered the shower only had cold water working. So I explained that I wanted to check out due to issues. I was then handed a key to a new room. I wasn't satisfied with this hotel, so I went to check out a day earlier than planned. I was told I could check out but would not be refunded. I called customer service to explain my situation and left but I'm not sure if I'm getting a refund for the day that I didn't stay. I was told it would take up to a week to be resolved. My visit at Howard Johnson by Windham in Virginia Beach 5173 shore drive was a headache. Not a vacation.

Needs was not met

Floors were dirty found ants and popcorn kernels asked more then once to have it cleaned and floors were still black my childrens feet would be completely black after just a few minutes walking around the floor as if they was outside. Struggled to get ahold of the manager and he was very rude yelled at me and hung up the phone also when I called back he said he would reach back out that day to accommodate me and its been over a week. Fire alarms went off twice around 2 am on different days cause people messing with them. Pool was advertised when I booked and we wasnt allowed to get into it till my last day off booking so that was a big let down.

Complaining

Fleas infested in my room. Didn't switch rooms for me. Won't give extra stay. They refuse to compensate me. I scratched myself raw in many places.

Very /Aggressive!

Well one of the employees threw trash at me for asking them to pick up up out of the hallway, they were VERY very mean! To the point to where I couldnt have even enjoyed my stay to sleep in my bed!!!

May 28. (OLD review i gave 5 stars) Great place and people, Nayan is the BEST! Update 06.27.2023 10:15pm am sleeping already and 3 (night shift manager, security and maintenance) angry guys knock on my door and trying to evict me. Telling me that i should be be out by 8pm? Wherein i have talk to a day shift manager yesterday (6.26.2023) and made my extension of stay. We had a very cordial and nice arrangements and confirmations. NOW i want to complaint! I checked in in this hotel May 28 and my nightmare started 1. First they charged me without my card wherein it is clear online deal says charging of card in the hotel physically. 2. From the night of May 28 to until May 31 am not able to sleep because the room they gave me is adjacent to another room (with dividing door) and the family there were so noisy fighting and yelling every 2am and 3am. 3. They moved me on another floor with a "good view" but it is not a good view and still some noisy floormates (just manage myself). 4. They control the pricing of their skyrocketed room service, they can change it whenever they want, food is very expensive. 5. If you call them in the front desk they treat you like you are already complaining wherein you are trying to be polite, courteous requesting something - very poor customer service! WHY Howard Johnson (By Wyndham) hired incompetent unqualified people? Where can i formally file a complaint? Am trying to be nice to everybody, because i have seen good people here like Mr. Ejaz, BUT tonight is the nail to the coffin! [9 more others issues] NOTE: I have PTSD with paranoia (in remissions for a decade now). And am here supposedly to have vacation and nice time for myself. Tonight my anxiety is attacking me, because of that late night nasty knocking on my door with 3 angry nasty, mean, rude men (especially the guy in a black suit) trying to bring me down the reception area and/or evict me as if am a criminal or a guilty person.

Run away!!!! Scabies, bed bugs and roaches

Infested with cockroaches and bed bugs and to then only get scabies!!! I planned a week vacation to Disneyland staying at this hotel. I first went into room my son opened the refrigerator and it had cockroaches in it. So I went back downstairs to demand a refund and they refused. I paid for a week stay here. So I was at a huge lose. They transferred me to another room. I was so disgusted with this hotel. I should have ran and to the loss. Throughout the week cockroachs freely roamed throughout the hotel. Then I noticed bed bugs. FML!!! 4 th day their my family all had intense itching. Ignoring the smell of marijuana and cigarettes, smoke along with cigarette buds, smashed out in the hallway floor. We decide to go eat breakfast before we catch the shuttle to Disneyland, and more cockroaches along the walls of this Getto place they serve disgusting food. Our nightmare has came to an end with this hotel. All staff are beyond rude and so unprofessional the only nice person I ran across was the nice shuttle driver. Everyone one else was so damn rude and played stupid. The next day we got home we went to doctors just to find out we have scabbies!!!

Filthy room, rude manager and hillside slide behind hotel.

My husband and I had booked a night at the Howard Johnsons by Wyndham in Roseburg, Oregon on our way north. The pictures on website showed a really nice room, but the room looked nothing like the pictures. The sheets and pillow cases looked like they were never changed from the last guest. I was ready to check out but we couldn't find another hotel in the area. My husband went to the office to let them know the room was never cleaned and the rude manager insisted it was. So he showed her the pictures we took, she said she would have the maid come with fresh linens. When we came back after dinner the fresh sheets and pillow cases were thrown on the table, if you could call them fresh. Then when we were walking down the back stairs we noticed caution tape arond the back part of the building. Of course we had to check it out. The hill had slide down and you couldn't get to the back 3 rooms. This building should have been red tagged unsafe. Since we had been driving for 20 hrs already and couldn't find another room, we had not choice but to stay. We slept in our clothes and put towels over the pillow cases, since the "fresh ones looked as bad as the first set. While I was online searching for another hotel I noticed all the hotels by Wyndham had the same pictures shown for 5 different hotels in the area. DO Not stay at any of the Wyndham hotels, they are filthy and unsafe.

Complaint/refund

Hotel was garbage! The most horrible experience I have had. It was nasty. Red stains on the sheets. Black stains all over the pillowcases. Mold on the walls, Rust/water stains coming down the walls, paint bubbling & sluffing off the wall, cruud in the corner of the bathroom, refrigerator leaking water on the floor, cigarette burns on the sheets. Upon entering the room there was a black grocery bag on the floor & a pink rope beside the couch. Stain on the side of the mattress.Jacuzzi in the room didn't work. Elevator didn't work. This hotel is the nastiest run down hotel I have ever seen. It needs to be torn down! Just filthy!!! Howard Johnson 6483 Richmond Road Williamsburg Virginia

Complain about a hotel you want

Most disgusting place Ive ever stayed at in Athens condoms on the furniture in the room guys didnt even offer a refund or to move. Us only offered a partial refund then when we talk to the person next morning, told that because we did not leave that night theres nothing they can do just disgusting and use your name and your grade you like that its just ridiculous.

Dear Howard Johnson Management Team, I am writing to express my extreme dissatisfaction with my recent stay at your Lake City, Florida location. Despite the high expectations for cleanliness, I was extremely disappointed to find that the condition of the room was deplorable. The sheets were stained, the bathroom was dirty, and there was a distinct odor that was pervasive. Additionally, I was incredibly disturbed to find a camera positioned in the ventilation shaft of my room. This invasion of privacy is unacceptable, and it is unacceptable that such a nefarious and appalling act could ever occur in a reputable establishment such as Howard Johnson. I demand an explanation and a resolution to these issues, including a full refund of my stay. Escalate this to your management team so that corrective measures can be implemented to ensure that guests are not subjected to such sub-par accommodations and privacy breaches. Sincerely, Shane McGlone I will publish this on all social network and report it to local police. .

Worst hotel experience ever

Nothing was resolved. This was a health hazard, with bugs everywhere. They wouldn't refund me once I got there and saw the room. It was dirty, damaged, and overall disgusting. I asked to be moved rooms, money back to find a different hotel, or even housekeeping to clean up and was denied. The worst Hotel and customer service experience is an understatement.

Bad experience in a hotel

I got charged 3 times. When i went to the front to say something the man that was behind the counter immediately greeted me with a nasty attitude telling me thats its my banks fault and theres absolutely positively no way their computer would charge me 3 times. My room was filthy it looked like they used the same sheets and blankets from the last guest i found litteral hairballs that didnt belong to me in my bed. My carpet was filthy it felt like walking on the beach with the amount of dirt buildup that was on it. Overall my stay 04-01-23 was honestly terrible im not sure id stay there again until the guy behind the counter is dealt with properly and tge rooms get cleaner. For 114$ a night i really expceted a better experience. Please at bare minimum do something about the rooms.

Issues with a hotel

Quite frankly, I'm always surprised that I hotel chain would allow hotels that reflect poorly on their brand to remain in their chain of properties. There is no way that I would ever let this Howard Johnson's be under my corporate umbrella! Do not stay at this property! In fact, run away and do not look back. Unless of course you enjoy hundreds of dead bed bugs, drug paraphernalia stashed around the room and in the open and in the bed when you pull the covers back, used and opened cans and food in the refrigerator, and a property manager that refuses to give you your money back! It's the most disgusting room that I've ever seen in a hotel I have tried to stay at. And in no way do the photos on their website reflect the horrid mess of their rooms.
