Honda 250

Terrible customer service. I asked that Honda service contact the Honda dealer where I bought my boat engine. There is an issue with the Honda computer gage the fuel will not work when filling gas . The system will not allow to add gas to the system? The dealer in Ridley Md has made numerous calls but with no contact. He called a district Honda representative in North Carolina but with very little help. The Honda dealer in MD is called Caroline boats. I am very disappointed in Honda having dealer or customer help Regards Don Jordan Cell # 904382****

Comment on new Honda 75 4 Stroke engine

Just want to commend your team on making the absolute top of the line product I have ever used. I paid the extra money to move up from a Mercury to a Honda, and it was worth every penny. Extremely smooth, quit, fuel efficient and very quick. I have seen co anglers at the launch in the northeast in fall having issues starting their Yamaha's, Mercury's and Evinrude where they can't believe the reliability of this engine especially starting in sub 30 degree weather. Thanks so much, you guys rock. Sincerely, Don Fenton

BFP8D3 Outboard

Water pump Grommet at the top of water pump tube is NO LONGER available, this part is VERY CRITICAL to keep the motor cool & from over heating. This outboard motor is a 2005 model with only about 80 hours of run time and very few replacement parts...ALREADY??? I AM PISSED, I SPENT A LOT OF MONEY $1900 FOR THIS OUTBOARD MOTOR BACK IN 2005. *** PARTS & SERVICE! NEVER EVER AGAIN HONDA!!!

Very poorly and dangerously designed engine

Still unresolved issue there is no fixing this engine due to the poor manufacturing from Honda.... Honda is unwilling to deal with this and make it right...

Neglect of my Warranty Case BF250AXA

I used to be a very Loyal Costumer that has been buying the HONDA outboards since 1997 and since then this is the first incident. I was Proud and always endorsing the success of my catching to my Honda outboard. I bought a brand-new outboard, failed and of course must be covered by Warranty and HONDA POWER EQUIPMENT/MARINE/COSTUMER RELATIONS has been totally worthless, negligence workmanship supervision, failure to perform in accordance with Warranty Terms. I am still paying to AMERICAN HONDA FINANCE CORPORATION and I do not have neither a phone call nor email solution back from Nobody in HONDA CORPORATION and the Dealership have my outboard at the shop, total neglect of my case. My Outboard BF250AXA is at the Dealership since July 7, 2020 and this is the date, I do not have a phone call to know about the status of my Outboard. I have called, left message sent email and the last answer of Honda Power Equipment - Customer Relations is an email dated August 4, 2020 and just said: "We regret to read that you have no resolution to your concern as of yet. Please know that we have reached out to the dealer multiple times at both locations for a status update on your motor and we are waiting for the Technician to provide us with some more information. Once we find out some additional information, we will be in contact with you." This is how a loyal customer is mistreated.

No solution over a brand-new Honda Outboard Model BF250AXA

On July 7, 2020 the Dealership took the Outboard Model BF250AXA which we are still paying to HONDA CORPORATION which is under Warranty and so far today August 3, 2020 i don't have my outboard, I don't have even a call from HONDA MARINE CORPORATION about the status of my Outboard or when i going to have it back. on July 30, 2020 i just received an email that said: Limited Warranty and it will repair your engine in the event of a defect, not replace the motor. No solution yet, no date yet. I bought new that must to be reliable for my business.

Since July 7, 2020 waiting for a solution from Dealer or Honda Corporation, so far no answer back.

No ETA yet for my outboard back, I bought NEW and expect to be reliable.

Original review Jul 27, 2020
They do not respond to the warranty, no time expectation, no results, You don't know what to expect, the dealer just kept your new outboard and said I don't know. So you are left alone and without your outboard.

Not worth the Money

I bought a Honda 40 outboard in 2015 brand new. The new motor cost over $5,000. I have broken down twice now for the same problem due to a factory defect that has not been corrected. I would never buy another Honda outboard or car.

15 hp honda smoke show

I purchased a 15 hp Honda motor in 2014 new and after break in it would blow a half a quart or oil up into the cylinder when decelerating. After sitting in a pool of oil and a cloud of smoke five or six times and running it a short distance on one quart of oil to get back to the launch, I use it only as a kicker on my big boat at low RPM. All the dealer did was make up excuses. My nephew just purchased one of the same, brand new and it did the same thing after the 10 hour break in, guess he should have talked to his uncle. I do not see how these things can meet the EPA standards when they are spewing oil all over the water. Anyone that owns one of these things needs to keep two spark plugs and at least one quart of oil with them.

30 hp Honda outboard motor

We have owned a 30 hp Honda outboard for about 10 years, Motor was two years old when we bought the Lund boat with the Honda Motor, It was winterized each year, and kept inside when not using. I have had nothing but problems with this motor, 2 water pumps, fuel line problems, 2 carb kits, now a total new carb. It has laid me up for spring fishing in Mn for 8 of my 10 season I have owned this motor. I am not sure we just got a bad motor, or these smaller Honda outboards are just junk. Terry from Mn I have had all the repairs done by my regular marine dealer. i can not continue to put anymore money into this motor, and I am finding that most marine dealers are not allowing me much on trade for this unit.

Dealers do not do recalls

new 2017 Honda 150 has recall on float in pollution control system, call local dealer for repair and told I had to leave boat at there service shop until they could get to it. Asked how long and they said 2 weeks or more. I said fine schedule me in and I would bring boat over a few days before. They said no will not schedule work, must bring boat over. I use boat 3 or 4 days a week. Called another dealer in area and he said he would not do recall work. Called Honda America and they said could not help since dealers were independent. What good is the warranty if no dealer will do work? Last Honda ever

Worst 20hp outboard on the planet

I bought a new 20hp honda outboard four years ago. I have a total of about 10 hours on the engine. That is to say, it has only been functional for 10 hrs out of 4 years. Repeated trips to the dealer, phone calls to honda, independent repair shops. Nothing can keep it working. The final straw...yesterday, my son and I tried to use it. We made it one mile in the boat before the engine died again. This time it happened in Charleston harbor. The tide was so strong we were being dragged out into the shipping lanes, and on our way to the ocean. Rescued by a kind boater. I will not trust my family's life to this piece of garbage. Horrible engine. Do not buy one. And no, I did not use gas with ethanol in it.

Honda Marine falls shot on all levels.

I have to adjust this review because there is more current information. It appears the engine problems were most likely caused by the dealer when the motor was mounted on the boat and rigged.

That was done by the boat manufacturer's dealership... who is not an...

I have a new Honda 60 hp that ran poorly from the very beginning. I gave it a few hours to run-in to see if it would smooth out. But it never did. And when the run-in schedule let me run it up to full RPM it would drop off RPM before getting there. Anyway it just wasn't right. But it would run and I had a planned trip to fish in Canada so I had to take it up there or cancel the trip. I went. At high altitude lakes the engine was worse, but it did continued to run. When I returned I took it into the Honda dealer. After a month and numerous part changes they could not fix it. Then suddenly they said the found the problem... It was the Canadian gas!!! But, I said, the problem existed before I went to Canada... And besides, didn't they check the fuel first when I took it in? There is no engine shop in the country that wouldn't check fuel first if they are presented with a rough running engine... Anyway, they want me to pay for it to be drained of gas and filters replaced... Apparently, the engine problem is my fault for putting foreign gas in it!.... I have yet to see how it will preform after their flushing... I doubt it will be different because it was bad before I went to Canada. In this process Honda has never communicated with me despite my numerous attempts (emails and calls). The entire process has been terrible.... From a defective product to uninterested and ineffective service. I will not ever purchase a Honda again....
