Resolved: Unsatisfatory work that was completed and then blamed on the owners

Updated by user Jul 20, 2023

Company did nothing we paid for a new company to come and fix and improve the issue.

Updated by user Jul 20, 2023
We ended up hiring another company who came in and did a fabulous job to correct and improve what actually was something simple the original company could have done easily instead of trying to blame the customer so they won’t have to do any thing.I have lost all trust...

Original review Jun 20, 2023
We had our home built in 2021 in Summer Lakes Rosenberg, Tx. I want to really say that as a first time home buyer this should have been a delightful experience however it has been anything but that. From the start they really made the experince seem so exciting. Being active duty overseas we started this process while we were still stationed in Japan. We picked out everything during a virtual telephone call. As soon as we moved back to US we noticed issues right away. My wife would go by the house every day to inspect and look at things to make sure things were going well. Alot of times she would find trash and debris left everywhere and to this day we sometimes wonder if it was cleaned up before they put up the walls. The biggest issue I have with history maker is when I found out recently that our HVAC unit panaling is actually not the correct size and corners were cut to install the Hvac unit which some how passed inpection even though it has found to actually decreasse our air flow and now because of the lazy half job they did, it caused the lower panal to blow out and blow continious air into our attic and caused water leakage which leaked into the wall and caused swelling on our rear door which now gets stuck because the wood is wet. When I presented all this with photos and evidence of the inspection done by an outside company to History Maker and also the sub contractor Deep Blue, they both blamed us and unchanged air filters which arent even in the attic or the HVAC. I am deeply disappointed in this company because as long as the house was under warranty they were our friend. As soon as they realized the warranty was us it was like we were the enemies and they refused to lift a finger to assist but shifted blame and now we have to spend more than $``1400 just on the Hvac to make it correct not counting the repairs on the door and wet wall which if done right to begin with, we would be facing this issues. Complaint

The model we saw was beautiful and so we decided to buy that home. When we moved in we saw that the front porch looked terrible, there was clumps of spackle all over the porch so it took them about 2 months to come out and pressure wash it and it still looks awful, the back patio which is an upgrade has foot prints in the cement, all of the door knobs in the house are coming off and all the sales rep would say is that is an easy fix. I paid almost $400,000 for this house and I should not be having to fix anything myself on a house that is only about 8 months old.

Unethical sales practices

Dont be fooled by the sign in their sales office that they are all about Christ centered values. Thats a lie. They are predatory and mercantile at best. They will do whats in their interest at your expense. Pro tip: Find another home somewhere else that they arent involved with in any way. I say this from hard personal experience with them. They will do you wrong, one way or another sooner or later.

Initially it’s been a great experience with history maker stat but when warrentuy claims occurred,it was responded well in the beginning but when it came to fix the problem it was not a good experienc

I made a complaint regarding the washroom water tanks leakage and the absence of duck for the exhaust but no action was taken instead of acknowledging my complaint which is disappointing.

Resolved: Trash overflowing and constantly blowing in our yard when it’s windy outside

Updated by user Jul 14, 2021

Trash was removed after I contacted the salesperson at the model home and he contacted the builder..

Original review Jul 08, 2021
I have had to call many times to have it emptied. They have emptied it twice and this is the third time. This time they havent emptied it and now its getting ridiculous. I saw a truck empty other areas yesterday and went right passed the one next door to us. This is not how you respond to community. Looks trashy!!!!!!!!

Poor service and bad construction

My wife and I have built 3 homes before. We have always had good experiences with builders and warranty service so we were excited when our son decided to buy a new build. But History Homes has been a nightmare. They looked like they rushed to get the house done, they destroyed the front yard after landscaping it and laying dos, the air conditioner was not wired correctly and now there are electrical issues with the house. They warranty department has been worthless and to boot there is water standing on both sides of the property so the drainage is bad. Builders like this should be shut down. They take advantage of folks and they don't care. of folks and their

Very disappointed

From the beginning, I found many defects in this house. Apparently, during its construction History Maker cut corners wherever possible. The quality of the materials and finishing simply cheap. An external inspector told me that these houses only meet the minimum required by law and construction standards. As a previous owner of a DR Horton home, I noticed the differences in quality and customer support. I never had a problem with DR Horton. Now, I unfortunately regret that I chose a house from History Maker Homes as my home. Customer service is a joke. In August, I wanted to correct defects of this house, and already November and it is still not possible to fix it. The person in charge of warranty, answers my calls and emails days later saying he is going to take care and simply nothing ever happens. Suddenly they send their contractor without any prior notice to me, I am not at home (away from home working) and they simply never return.

Doesn't care about community

Will build cheap homes in expensive neighborhoods without regard to the impact of existing homeowners.

Horrible sales and customer service

Horrible first time home buyers experience. The design center experience was horrible. The sales team is horrible. They cant keep anyone in sales and no one will provide updates. We have no idea when our house that we signed on in august will be completed. They dont care that we have to give notice. We have to ask for updates and process is nothing like what they told us it would be. No one is helpful. Im concerned our house will be built horribly after reading the reviews. We can sympathize with all of the reviews. Customer service and design team especially Meagan Wiles! She was very rude, dishonest and unprofessional.

Tree was dead when they put it in.

My daughter bought a House in Van Alstyne, TX, They put in a dead tree. She closed in April 2020 and she reported the tree being dead in May. They do not warranty landscaping they tell us. But any legitimate nursery will guarantee a tree for a year. I was told by Robert Ruffino (who has been no help) that they do not buy theirs from a nursery. They get them from Brownwood. I guess they just pull dead trees out of the ground there and bring them up here. Now they have 8 dead trees in this neighborhood and it really looks terrible. Now the HOA says she needs to replace the tree. When you pay this much for a house they should replace the tree. DR Horton will. It is not the point that the tree is expensive. You should not have to fix anything in a new house.

Shady Shady Shady

WARNING: Do not go here without your agent. If you show up, even for a look around, they will NOT pay for your agent. That look around will end up costing you at least 3% of your home.

Horrible Customer Services and lack of communication

I have been very patient with Paul Sprabarry since day 1. On the first day he was very friendly and kind. After that he was been very short, unfriendly, rude, lack of communication tells me one thing and is not true. Seems like doesn't want to get things done unless he has someone else behind him to tell him take care of it. We purchased the home on 02/06/20 and slowing started moving in. In March with all the rain we had we noticed our backyard full of water not draining properly. We have had major issues and lots of issues ever since we moved in. He has never been with a pleasant attitude or willing to really take care of the problem. I I was very frustrated and had to search more into the issue to get the problem resolve. After having a grading survey done and after having to hassle then he was told to make sure things get done. then we continue having other issues that Paul Sprabarry was not willing to take care of until I had to get other people involved including Robert Roffino that has been amazing and very helpful. Working with Paul Sprabarry has been very frustrating. He will tell you the job got done when it didn't. He says his going to follow up and he doesn't. He don't have a welcome attitude and doesn't get to things right away. We really don't want to work with Paul anymore for any future issues. But I do want to say Robert Roffino has been phenomenal. He has been very efficient and gets to things right away. He even replaced our grass that never took roof and was dead. He has a really friendly attitude and I can tell he loves his job and his clients. Today 07/09 we just had another incident with Paul Sprabarry. I sent him a text today at 3:41pm asking what is the status on our leak repair. He replied back at 3:43pm stating he spoke with landscaping today around lunch time and that leak was repaired. I said that is a lie no one has been to my home my husband is been there all day, we have cameras and haven't seen anyone stop by. Landscaping also stopped by yesterday 07/08/20 around 5:30pm discovered the leak and told my husband that it couldn't get done today but they will return tomorrow on 07/09/20 short story the leak never got done until today that a contractor showed up at the house a little bit before 4:00pm pretty much 15 minu after I sent the text to Paul checking on the status. I don't want to deal with Paul Sprabarry again. We are very fed up with him If you have any questions please contact me

Horrible commercial

I hate the ASPCA commercials. They are maudlin and disgusting. The sad music is even worse. When ever they come on I change channels. I have probably rescued 20 cats in my life. I don’t need to see those gross commercials. I won’t give the ASPCA a cent. The need a new commercial writer showing all of the happy dogs and cats that have been rescued and adopted and are now thriving. We know about abuse. Don’t need to see it every 20 minutes

A really wow experience!

Dear History Maker Homes, My husband and I moved to Texas from Colorado this last year. In our home search, we came across History Maker Homes in Harpers Preserve. We met Bobby McNeese the Sales Consultant, and he was completely helpful, welcoming, and non-pushy. We are people who do not trust easily, and he earned our trust quickly. My husband fell in love with the neighborhood, I was unsure. I was only visiting for a couple of days, and I wanted to look around. I found a neighborhood, Woodland Hills, that I LOVED!!! However, the Sales Consultant treated us like a business transaction and tried to “close the sale.” We were so turned away and due to the trust Bobby had built with us, we went back and signed a contract with Bobby, even though it was not necessarily the home or neighborhood I wanted. Our home was delayed to start for weeks and we started to get cold feet. With nothing happening when we would go visit the homesite on Sundays, we looked around and saw bigger, nice homes for less and thought, what are we doing!? We stayed because of Bobby. He provided empathy, allowed us to spend hours talking to him regularly, and he quickly felt like a friend. My husband doesn’t generally enjoy just talking to people, and he looked forward to visiting Bobby. Problems happened as they usually do (they installed the wrong tile throughout, wrong tub, etc) and Bobby was so graceful about carrying us through. I would say we were tough customers, and I can’t imagine what the process would have been like without Bobby. I had built with another builder previously which was a terrible experience, and this was night and day from that. We moved into our new home a few days before Christmas. We love our home and are raving fans of History Maker Homes. I just wanted you to know that we would not be here, in this home today, without Bobby McNeese. I hope you appreciate what a wonderful employee you have as he really is the reason we chose History Maker, and the reason we have so much confidence in our new home. The way Bobby treated us actually made the tipping point that inspired the decision for me to get into new home sales 3 months ago. Every time I sell a home to a customer now, I really think about how Bobby made my husband and myself feel, and try to give my homebuyers that same experience. While History Maker is my competition, I really can’t say a single bad thing. I’m glad you are in Houston and wish you all the very best! Thank you for my beautiful home, and for hiring Bobby and making it such a wonderful experience. Also, while we are sad that Bobby has been moved and is no longer in our neighborhood, the new builder who was recently sent here, is absolutely amazing!! Thank you, Megan & Aaron Chace
