Faulty travel trailer issues

I bought a pioneer heartland QB 300 a 2020 and at the end of June 2020 we had it moved to our campsite where it's sat at Bowdish Lake in Chepachet Rhode Island.. I have had nothing but problems with this trailer. The first week we used it we had no hot water. It had to go back to Berkeley from Chepachet 45 minute drive. I'm back roads fun. They never hooked up the ground wire. The refrigerated door handle broke. They fixed it. I broke again. I've just now duct taped it. We had four hot water boards replaced and the last summer which was only our second summer using it a third summer using it. We have no heat or air conditioning that happened in 2022. I didn't know if it was anything that you guys could do to help me with this trailer. One time I brought it back even within warranty it cost me 400 bucks, another time 600 and something dollars. Now it's $2,000 to repair a heat switch and the air conditioner. It's not like this trailer is hauled around the country and jiggled and jaggled. It sits in a campsite all year round. It's protected. It's well cared for. I need help. I think I got a lemon so if someone could please give me a call or email me back I would be so appreciative. Thank you, Jean

Resolved: People needed to know to STAY AWAY!

Updated by user Aug 24, 2023

Company resolved the issue.

We took our camper to a different RV place. Our insurance company and the other RV company both agreed it was manufacturer flaw.

Our insurance paid for half the roof replacement.

We had to pay $4,000 out of our own pocket. I did change my google review to 1 star....

Original review Jul 23, 2023
We bought a 2022 Heartland Mallard in Feb 2002/March 2022. There were issues from the get go of modeling falling off, the roof of the outside kitchen falling down, a plug in smaller than the cutout, the battery cable end coming off etc. Our first 2 week over the road vacation with it this past June, took the cake. We were on our way back about 400+ miles away when we got flagged down becausevwe were losing something on the roof of our camper. We pulled over and found the top layer of our roof peeled back from the nose cone to the air conditioner! My husband was able to get on top of the camper with the help if a local farmer having a tall enough ladder. He could tell there was not enough glue used to keep the roof down. We had to cut off the lose part and tape the edge so we could get home. We took it to Camping World, Little Falls, MN the next day. I emailed Heartland and explained what happened. Told them we felt it was a flaw in manufacturing. Well, end result, Heartland refused to cover it because we were 4 months past our manufacturing warranty and Camping World refused to put in writing that it was a flaw in manufacturing. They both said to turn it into insurance. Neither company backed their customer oe product. We used this camper 37 days total in 15-16 months. We picked up our camper, brought it somewhere else and got a 2nd opinion and called our insurance. Our insurance only covers up to $5000 for a roof due to a manufacturing flaw. This is going to cost at least double that. We are still going to go after Heartland. We paid a lot of money for a poorly put together product and now they don't want to stand behind it. Never again will be buy a Heartland or go to Camping World!!

Lost money

I bought a north country trailer. Good for one year. Water heater failed. Slide windows not sealed from factory. Flooded inside unit. Thus the slide would not close. Poor cabinet quality. Lower unit shelves broke. Barely any weight. Bathroom slider door kept comming off the rail. Air bed would not hold air overnight. I paid around the 30,000 mark and didnt get thru half the first season without issues. Warranty is ok, but try to get them to your site for repairs. Worst trailer I ever bought. My 1972 prowler is still a way better trailer.

Heartland North Trail PROBLEMS! The LAST STRAW!

I thank God I have a wife with iron will and doesn't mind ruffling feathers! We purchased our Heartland North Trail 40 ft trailer in March 2021.I was working out of town and thought we'd invest in a comfortable new travel trailer with all the whistles and bells. Cheap way to work, and we'd have a trailer to take on trips. But we didn't realize that we would have to purchase the trailer, and then spend time and money to finish it. Below is a list of defects... Missing slide out gaskets: (Found that out with a substantial rain. Woke up to a water fall in the living area and wet floor where ever there was a slide out. likely damage but who knows. Heartland picked it up and INSTALLED the missing gaskets. Major screw up. In the meantime, I spent several weeks at a hotel and with family waiting for it to be fixed. Then, when I got it back, the back leveler was damaged. I didn't notice it until I took for a weekend trip. No one would claim responsibility for it. Turns out it was a stripped rod gear. Shame on me for not inspecting the entire rig after it was returned. Heater Igniter: Stopped working the first cold snap. They fixed it, but it took a while. And yeah, when it was freezing cold... Leaking under the sink: Turned out to be *** in the water pump. Water on the carpet for days and I had to make a pan to catch the water. Took it in twice for repairs, and I was told it was fixed. It was not. Finally, I had to sic my wife on them to get a new one installed. They didn't want to replace it... I have to hand it to her, she wasn't taking no for an answer. There were other leaks but I, being a GC and plumbing background, was able to repair them. Still shotty workmanship. Misaligned slide outs. (Gouging the vinyl floor. Lead to a floor leak in the slide out and rotting wood.) They did fix it but the gaskets were damaged. This is the LATEST LAST STRAW. Now that I inspect everything, I luckily found the problem. Arguing with Heartland over this mess now. (Check the warranty time from different dealerships. They are all different.) Faulty valve in the freshwater tank. (Flooded the underside of the trailer.) Trim falling off. Brads sticking out of the wood trim. Speaker are terrible. Pour trim installation. Flickering lights Magically, a crease in the tongue appeared after repairs at the dealership. Again they pointed it out but certainly didn't do it. Glad to fix it though for $1500. Check the tires! They could be a year old or more like ours when we purchased it. Caused a blow out and $1000 deductible after the blow out and panel damage. As well as all new tires. $1500. TIP: check the packing in your wheels. This is something that can cause catastrophic damage. Slide out gaskets splitting apart. (Did you know? They only last 2 years) Exactly the same length as the age of our trailer. Who knew... Closet door and frame came off.(six brads holding the frame on) No glue. Bedroom door jamming. (The frame came loose from the wall) DON'T get the ceramic coating. Not worth it. Levelers are very weak. Very weak! Tables are screwed into 3/4 ply on the slide outs and the straps that secure the chairs during travel, well they are screwed into the carpet...?

Freezer not working

My 5th wheel is new. I bought it May 2022 and the freezer frost up and its hard to open the freezer door and when we do open it frost is all over the floor and we have to clean up the water on our floor. We have had this problem since the first day we picked it up. Explorer said they changed the freezer door but it still does the same thing. We are getting frustrated because we cant get this issue fixed. We paid a lot of money to be having this issue. We do live in it and we have been staying in a motel because its still at the dealership. SA5069 - **** FW HEARTLAND BIGHORN BH3502SB (Warranty Date: 15 MAY 22) Ser#: 5SFBG3825ME474558

Dissatisfied

The amount of money these things cost for the lowest possible quality put into these RV's are horrible! They are cheaply made and with as little effort to maintain ANY quality. They are poorly built and put together and then the service plan to HAVE to bring it in for the first year is the most ridiculous thing ever that isn't even feasible. The slides won't come out all the way, the lights have shorted out already, the internet is wired into the lights so can't be hooked up, the fresh water tanks are messed up, the doors don't close all the way, the paneling is ripping off, the floors are coming up, the ice maker doesn't work, the water trickles out of the water dispenser in the fridge, the open holes left behind little "decorative" pieces don't keep the outside air out or the mice out, since they're just open to the outside, the tiny metal pieces to hold the windows open are already broken from just trying to open the windows, the leveler won't level even manually, so it's sitting at a 30 degree angle, and I could go on and on and on. Worst investment ever and wish they'd just refund our money. This unit is ONLY 3 months old!!

AWFUL RV-HORRIBLE

This RV is the worst investment ever. Ive called the company and let them know how cheaply and awful this was out together and the cost for it is ungodly. The craftsmanship and quaintly is about a 2 and some of it is a -10. Seriously DONT waster YOUR money. When called to complain or ask about it they really could care less that its such a horrible piece of their name out there. So sad.

We just purchased a Hearland Mallard 33 & all I can say is, spare yourself.

The biggest pile of JUNK we have ever purchased. We purchased this unit at the end of October. Its now the end of Jan. Within the 1st week, our camper flooded due to a valve in the toilet not being completely installed/adjusted. (NOT the dealer's fault. Came from the manufacturer this way) The whole outdoor kitchen & the left rear side of the bunkhouse has to be completely inspected & replaced some parts. Secondly, numerous parts of trim are falling off the walls. How hard is it to nail trim & run caulk over the nail holes that doesn't look like it was done by a 5 year old. Not hard when you put effort into it. Obviously there is lack of effort into building this whole unit. Within camping the 1st week we noticed multiple outlets not working & outdoor lights not wanting to cut off. (my husband fixed the outdoor lights). The skylight over the tub leaks. There is a bubble of soft spot (obv we didn't see with the walkthrough) over the furnace. Basically pressboard gets wet & expands/creates a bubble. The kitchen sink 1st time using it, i was standing in a puddle of water while washing dishes. The kitchen sink fitting in the U was leaking (my husband also fixed). Mid January my husband got back to our campsite & the fresh water tank was pouring water. & to this day still continues to pour. He has researched and the flap in the tank gets stuck at times? He has tried to fix it but was not successful. A few nights ago my husband was laying in bed and the left side of the bed was soaked. He gathered that the outside orange covered light or the seal was leaking. But never the less once there is a leak inside the wall of a camper it is NEVER the same. The same night of the leak discovery, my husband said out hot water heater stopped working. On gas & electric. The seals around the top of the camper are already shrinking & cracking. WE AREN'T EVEN IN THE SPRING, MUCH LESS CAN YOU IMAGINE LOUISIANA SUMMERS? This is the MAIN stuff that is going on. I deal with warranty & dealers on a daily basis. We have corresponded with Heartland & sent in pictures. We purchased the best of the best warranty. My husband lives in this camper for his job. So us having to bring it to a dealership and pay out of pocket for a hotel room is VERY inconvenient! Not to mention the list of people Heartland sent to us of maybe 50 people, NONE of them perform work in the field. Much less want to touch campers anywhere else than their shop. Which is understandable. We purchased our unit from Bossier City Camping World. Our unit will be headed to Breaux Bridge this week for repairs. I have spoken to a service employee there and he seems very confident and willing to get us up and running, AGAIN. BUT he also has to submit a list of warranty issues to Heartland and get it 'okay'd' to repair. Which could take who knows how long. (according to heartland they process warranty claims within 24 hours) SO, we shall see. The main thing Im writing all of this is to save YOU the time of making this same mistake. We purchased a 60k unit. Can you imagine spending more? Please spare yourself, friends & family.

Worse purchase and most regretted ever!

Purchased 9/28/21 in Maryland. Disaster from the start! Started reporting "issues" 10/8/21 to dealer in Frederick, MD with no response. First trip out 30 days after purchase, water pouring in from the rear front of roof soaking the interior floors, etc. Dinette table not anchored to the floor, light switch and microwave not anchored to the wall with all screws, AC not working in bedroom, defective hot water heater, and the list goes on! Tarped rear of trailer immediately. Out of service 11/1/21 through 5/18/22 at dealer for warranty repairs, at least all covered. Back to dealer 7/20/22 - no power in unit at all, ceiling "drooping", slide out popping and jumping, and dinette bench loose! Waiting for "update" and what will be covered, oh and a recall which we were told had been over a year old on the LP gas connector but sold to us anyway even though it could cause a fire. Dealer said "that's recall has been around a while they just couldn't get the parts". One person to speak to in Customer Service - at least she has been helpful, but a robot "take it back to the dealer for warranty review. No one else to speak to, multiple letters to purchase back unanswered. Customer service advises "Heartland does not buy back units please speak to your dealer"!
