Burning smell in the store.

At the store on 99St I reported a burning smell in the store to an employee & instead of going to investigate she said "oh it's probably someone testing in the back" I expected that she would go & check it out but she would not.

Refuse to take items

Habitat only wants furniture that is as perfect as new. I guess they consider themselves on par with Ethan Allen or other high-end furniture stores. They spoke of my sofa that has a small stain under one of the cushions as junk. Pretty snooty.

Rude people at the Bellevue WA center. Very difficult to arrange/ find information about pick-up service.

Even though Habitat's business is built on donations, its website does not have information about how to arrange for a pick-up. I had some large, heavy pieces of furniture that I couldn't put into my car & take to a local center. When I called one of the stores in the Seattle area for help, the man was very rude & did not want to tell me how to arrange a pick-up. Finally, he rattled off the specifics of the website address. Trying to donate to Habitat was a painful experience. My recommendation for Habitat is to be transparent with information on your website, change your culture & the attitudes of your employees/volunteers to be humble, respectful & appreciative towards donors

Poor Service when making a LARGE DONATION

Very difficult finding where and how to make a large donation of furniture and household goods to the local store. Very slow responding to email and scheduling pickup. Refused to take the items from our home, citing covid concerns in fine print on the email, until we agreed to pay them $120! No problem coming into home after we agreed to pay. Never received any thank you from Habitat for a very large donation of goods. Will never donate to Habitat again and do not recommend to anyone.

Dissapointed and Feel Abandoned

I have a large family and we applied for Habitat for Humanity for help. when we applied there were some different people but knowing other family members who also applied; we discovered that there were a lot of people that worked for a short period of time and simply left. We soon learned why the turnover is so high for this supposed non-profit organization. As homeowners, it is impossible to speak to anyone at the office if you need help. You are routed to the voicemail if you can get past an elderly woman who has a lot of attitude on the phone. I remember calling a few weeks ago seeking to speak with staff and the same elderly woman answered the phone and would not transfer me to the voicemail when I asked her why she simply said: "because they are busy what don't you understand!" The level of communication is poor with this location and its staff members. Several months back we applied for the Roof repair grant to get 10k to fix my leaking roof that has been leaking since I got the house from them. The houses that they are providing people are subpar, falling apart, and will break down badly. I called them and requested roof repairs and it took them 5 months to show and then another several weeks to call me back and tell me that I didn't qualify for the roof grant. I and my husband am over 60 years old with disabilities. We cannot work and do not have any money and the excuse they gave was " 10,000 dollars will not be enough and will need another 7,000 to pay out of pocket. We told them that we could not afford that and so they took the grant Now we are living with MOLD, Rodents, difficulty breathing, Are cold in the winter and exposed during the summer. we fear we are not going to survive another winter like this. To make matters worse, they never tell you that they can take your house away if they don't like you or if you complain too much. They know you have nowhere else to go and will play mind games with you. They will raise your rent and not tell you and will swear that it is your fault. If we are poor going into the program we are still poor coming out. So why raise the rent or make major changes when they know we can't afford it and then they will put you out? When you put in a work order for repairs, they say a worker will be out at your house and who shows up acts like they don't know what they are doing and barely or never finish the repair job. I took pictures of the repair men sitting down eating lunch and looking at their cellphones. The repair men also left my house FILTHY, left my front door open and exposed to everyone, and would not even speak to me but walked out and left never to be seen again. The Rental Manager is rude, abrasive, and will talk to you like you are trash and her name is Roshera. This woman is undercutting and sneaky because there were plenty of times that I got off the phone crying wondering what I did to deserve the level of hate that comes from her. There is something ODD going on at this location and they act like they are always hiding something because they are. A contractor I did get close to told me that the company was audited because of suspicious money management. They have a new boss who is inadequate and can't seem to get people to want to help Habitat for humanity anymore. I was told that the company does not have enough houses to give applicants. I also heard from a few people that know other homeowners that they are manipulating people and sabotaging them from getting their hours completed. It is a gossip machine and they pick and chose people that they want to mentally humiliate. This is supposed to be a Christian organization then why take the enjoyment out of putting obstacles in people's way to make getting work hours so hard? Recently, the new Manager of directions is forcing families that are POOR or elderly to take out Second Mortgages! Habitat for Humanity already makes homeowners pay on a 25-year mortgage and a second mortgage means that NO ONE can outlive a second mortgage successfully and so You are NOT a real homeowner. This is such a scam that the world needs to know about it. If I had to strongly guess, I would say this new director or supervisor and its office staff are NOT doing a good job of running this organization. I would encourage everyone to ask questions and to build a relationship with other homeowners in the program to have a support system. I am split in half with how I feel. I feel taken in a way but at the same time needed to obtain a house in this manner. I pray that things will be different and that we are not seen as money-making machines for these people. I will not live to see new changes but if you are reading this maybe you will live longer to make changes.

People are besmirching Habitat for it's store and it may affect the charity....

https://beinghuman.org/why-most-people-believe-habitat-for-humanity-is-bad/ Read this and judge the worthiness of the charity but that article and not from these specious negative reviews.

Very Bad Exp

I really wanted to love this place after seeing all of the glowing reviews. In fact I spent about $1600 more to have them install my carpet instead of Home Depot, because of their speed and customer service reviews. However I did not have a great experience. While getting my carpet installed the new paint was damaged on a door frame. I didnt think it would be a big deal to get it fixed, but after informing them they said it was not their fault and there must be something wrong with the paint. They did say if I had any left over paint they would touch it up the following day. However when the crew arrived no one acknowledged the damage, no apologies, and no fixing it. So over 3k later Im stuck with a damaged door frame that will need to be sanded down and repainted (over brand new carpet.). Update- I dont feel that calling would be productive. I informed them when the damage was done and they were clear that they were not taking any responsibility for it.

Ask question

I have not been called yet regarding my problem. I bought 4 chairs from your Buffton SC store. They have hundreds of holes which i thought were cosmetic. I have since been informed it is a bug infestation-a very bad one. I paid $200 for delivery of these and other pieces at time. I would like to be able to select four other chairs to be delivered, and have these chairs removed. Thank you.

Not happy

Habitat for humanity was a good idea but they quickly became a for profit entity hiding under a non profit. Beware of these scam artists. I gave them a one star rating because I wasn't given the option to give them less.

Total fraud in so many ways

Promised a new totally disabled home. Got 56 year old home with extreme violations of codes and remodel is a joke. Everything new and donated came in one door and out the other and was replaced with nasty used donated goods from habitat store that is a money laundering fraud all on its own. All appliances from Sears nonprofit, and all others like tub's, toilets, faucets, fixtures from Ace hardware, Lowe's, home depot etc., was replaced with used and horrific. We where left with shaddered toilet, blow wholes around all doors and windows, kitchen is a disaster, siding is falling off, yard was planted with local horse grass and grease wood weeds that has produced nothing but goat heads, left with property dispute, was scammed on contract, nothing when we signed was as it was supposed to be 5 year hold is now 20 . But why not we are disabled seniors, so now we live the rest of our lives in this mess where siding is already falling off, half kitchen electric fried out , al faucets have broke creating disasters after disaster as glorified renters trapped on a nightmare. And thus is just the beginning of it, for there is not enough space to list all the problems from day one. But why not after moving in we find out that this has been a drug home for decades and not one board of wood or old plaster board was replaced. Everything muddled over caulked and painted over all the rot inside and out. They need to be held accountable.
