EXTREMELY UNSATISFACTORY TRASH/RECYCLING SERVICE

GFL is a Canadian waste management company that has a monopoly over trash and recycle pickup locally. It took over the major trash companies in Fredericksburg to include Stafford County government and Shiffletts. Since it took over trash pickup around 2022 in this area, there have been MAJOR problems with missed pickups. I have had problems with them since their takeover that includes runarounds from them and phone calls not returnedall the while I still have to pay for the monthly service. When I called and asked to speak with management today, it sounded like I was speaking to someone from somewhere else. They wouldnt let me speak to management, nor give me their contact info. I left a callback number that was not returned. There are MANY complaints and 1-star reviews about this company, including complaints to the Better Business Bureau. The Potomac Local News has several articles about this. There is something very wrong about the way this has fallen on the customers, and its time to get better visibility on this.

It's not possible to leave negative stars or I would

The absolute worst company I've ever interfaced with, bar none. Dishonest, sneaky, deceptive, unreliable, and when you leave, they fabricate undisclosed fees in juvenile, emotional retaliation. The local mom-n-pops in our area were absorbed by GFL, so I had no choice when they took over our service.

Major price increases, bad customer service, and inability to get out of contract

I have had more increases in my bill than I can count. Every time I call or ask for clarification, the next bill has another price increase. When I finally was within the timeframe to cancel my contract, I received another price increase. Why is their competition charging literally half the pricing as GFL, for the same services??? I just want out of my contract with GFL! I attached the latest bill for $321.62. For one recycling container and one garbage container. Pick up once per month for both containers. But I was notified via email that my bill went up another $39.00 per month, since I cancelled my services with them. Waiting to get the paper bill in the mail with this new amount and I will happily share with you. So now I'll be paying $360.62 a month. John's disposal is going to charge me $180.00 per month for the exact same services, same size disposals, same once a month pick up. And John's has no taxes, or extra fees or a contract to sign. LITERALLY HALF THE PRICE AS GFL!!!

WORST COMPANY I HAVE EVER DONE BUSINESS WITH

GFL/Advanced Disposal garbage company. HANDS DOWN, the WORST COMPANY I HAVE EVER DONE BUSINESS WITH!!! I was finally within the window to cancel our contract with GFL. I said, just wait, they will raise my pricing again because I am closing our account with them. Sure enough, another $39 for monthly services. We will be going with John's Disposal. Straight amount, no extra fees, taxes and NO contract to sign. And they are half the price for the same services, BEFORE this last GFL increase. How can one company charge so much more than another for the exact same services?!?!?! Not to mention GFL's customer service is a joke! I can't recommend enough for you to compare prices elsewhere if you are using GFL as your garbage/recycling provider. And I can't tell you how excited I am to get out of this ridiculous contract with them.

Overdue refund owed

Company called and left me a message over a month ago that my refund was approved (same story) which i still have not seen.

GFL owes me $98. That's it. Just $98. Since 3 December 2022. I've tried calling. I've spoken to them multiple times. I've emailed them. Multiple times. They've asked me to allow up to 8 weeks for the funds to be deposited into my account. You guessed it. Multiple times. And still, no refund. These companies are so quick to put a negative report on your credit if you don't pay them in only 30 days, but here GFL is over due my refund payment by 8 times that time-frame.

Poor service and cancelation policy

A business is not measured by anything except how they handle an issue. My recycle was missed 4 days ago, things happen. Although, when I called, they were ice and said it would be picked-up on a missed customer P/U list. It has been 4 day and I called again. It is on the list and not yet scheduled. I was informed they didn't know when it would be picked-up and just leave the container by the road. What??? So our neighbors and I can see it everyday until it is convenient for them to correct a simple error? *** The lady did offer to cancel my service if I would like and informed me there was no refunds for unused quarterly service payment. What??? I said that was silly and she proceeded to tell me that a lot of customers do cancel and just lose their $$$ (payment). So, I am stuck until the end of September as I just paid my bill. Be assured, I will pay more for a service that puts their clients first. NOTE: I am not complaining, just informing others to avoid them having the same issues. JLS 7/12/2023.

My trash is not been picked up AGAIN

Trash is continually being missed. I had to run after the truck a few months ago. Now its happened again.

They Do Not Care About Customer Service or Customer Retention

After several price increases, we found a more reasonable local residential trash service. I emailed to cancel our service with GFL Environmental and received a response from a Customer Service Rep that started very nice. The CS Rep stated that our service had been cancelled effective the date paid through our last invoice. HOWEVER, the Rep's email went on to say that I would be charged a $50 fee for them to pick up their trash bins. I was astounded and found this to be totally unreasonable. I have not been charged such a fee to return any leased or used equipment to any other service provider such as DishTV, Verizon, etc. I asked to be provided with terms and conditions of my specific agreement with GFL that shows where such a fee can be assessed; no response to this request. I asked for the name and email address of a customer service manager with whom I could engage over this matter; the CS Rep responded that he could not give me that info and asked for my cell number, which I gave him. I was told that I should receive a call within 24 hours. Well, that was a week ago and no call from a supervisor. I also sent a separate email to a regional vice president; of course I've received no response. And, the trash bins still have not been picked up. Looking at various review websites, GFL rates very poorly from both the customer perspective and the overall corporate perspective. I predict that they will continue to lose more and more customers and see an impact on their financial revenues and profit if they continue to operate in this manner.

Abusive driver, incompetent back office staff, skyrocketing rates

rates tripled, driver screamed at my wife and took multiple cans without providing replacements, back office staff can't get anything done because good ones are handicapped by incompetent ones and management doesn't have control

NOT RELIABLE SERVICE

I agreed to trash pick up twice a week, they have missed my trash pick up more than half the times in the last two months( pick up 2, NOT picked up 5) and several times in the past. I emailed them to cancel my service with a refund, since they had not followed our agreement, they would not refund my money and then (I think out of spite), a $50 trash can removal fee has now been added. There is nothing in their documents that quotes this fee.

Poor value but company is the only option

Poor communication, missed pickups, raised rates 35% with no advance warning. They have a monopoly in my area but their service to value ratio is so poor Im considering just making weekly trips to the dump instead.

Only provide random services

I've called the company line and still not able to come multiple times. There is no guarantee of services. Can't get any help from City of Vancouver.

Increased bill 4 times in a year

*** POOR COMPANY. THE MOST GREEDIEST, AND CUSTOMER SERVICE IS NON EXISTING. All about the money to these people. Run as fast as you can the other way.

This is a terrible waste disposal service provider

I would avoid using this company for waste disposal if at all possible. They charge for services before actually providing those services (in advance). I feel it's wrong to be FORCED to pay for services I before I've received them!

They're rude and do not care about their customers at all.

Worst Customer Service EVER! @GFL Environmental Kansas City, Missouri. Every year this corporation has been treating their customers poorly. I've been a customer and stuck it out since it was Town and Country, and even thru WCA. Ben Seiferman is the GM for the Kansas City, MO area. Any time I've asked for my complaint/inquiry to go up the chain, the Harrisonville customer service ladies have interrupted me, spoke over me, are rude and refuse to move my inquiry/complaint above them. Jennie, the office manager for Harrisonville, MO just repeats herself. Everyone I have spoke to had any intention to rectify or apologize, or just simply be nice. But with GFL, I'm recommending to everyone I come into contact with to NOT use this company for service...EVER! They lie, they charge national gasoline fees and not base their gasoline fees on local or state. They do not always pick up and miss service, the ladies that answer the customer service phone calls are ALWAYS rude, no matter what question you may ask. Totally disappointed with this company and have since cancelled my service. I had paid for the month of June and was assured that i would be able to keep my trash/recycling bin until the first week of July. They picked up my trash bins last Friday, June 9th, 2023 without notice or confirmation. I called today, June , 2023 and asked if they were in fact the ones who collected my bins. Which they did, but now refuse to credit me the remainder of the $52.27 I already paid for the month of June, without full service. This company is horrible to their customers. No doubt about it. If I could give this company zero stars, I would.

Green For Life Sub Par Services

I have been signed up with Green For Life for about 2 months now as I signed up the end of January 2023. I ordered 2 trash containers and it took over a month just to recieve the first one. I called every week and was giving a line that my delivery was scheduled but had been rescheduled for another day that week, this went on for about 6 weeks, until someone was outside when they picked up and asked the driver why we couldn't get a container. Now that we have the one container each week for the last 3 weeks it has been a problem for them to pickup the trash bags that are sitting right next to the trash container each week. I was told that I can sit out up to 10 bags which it has been at or under that amount each week. I have gotten up at between 6am to 6:30 to sit the trash out, just to make sure that it is not out long enough for animals to get into it. Each week I have had to call after they pick up the container to let them know that the bags have not been picked up. I get told we are making a note to have them pickup any bags you have also. The next week is the same result. I get off work at 1:30 am set my clock so I can get back up to take the trash out only to have to go back out after they pick up the container and drag it back into the area that I am sitting them temporarily. This issue has still not been resolved when calling in today the rep told me that she is emailing operations to see what is going on. Very upset at this point. I can't get my other container and I can't get my trash that is clearly sitting out picked up without calling each week. Just want the services that I paid for about to no longer be a customer. Tried to be nice because I know that most companies are under staffed right now, but in that time a container could have been made or shipped. If not I should still be able to have my trash picked up without having to watch over your employees like big brother.
