I need to book a car and i cannot access my info

Getaround fails in the area of customer service. This effects every single aspect of their entire business. Making it impossible and a huge task to even access their vehicles. The lack of access to customer support makes it a headache and not worth it. After several messages my time was mocked and wasted by responses that only reiterated what I'd shared was the issue. My info disappeared and they led me to pay fees I'd already paid, deposit that is high and applies to those who are of great risk. They told me to go ahead and add my info and book a car after I'd repeatedly told them that I'd paid my dues and want to know what happened to the account that existed and has existed for over 3 years. An account that once enabled me to rent a car without any of these issues. After WEEKS and 3 responses- each and every reply stated the same thing and completely ignored anything I said. One can only assume that it was purposely done. There is no way that the same response can be sent when one is looking for an urgent resolution. It Is unacceptable and it causes a lot of stress especially when someone uses the app and depends on it for emergencies. Why spend as much money as I have when they refuse to invest even the smallest amount of effort to resolve this issue? I've dealt with theirs MANY times. I've driven to get a vehicle who's address was over 15 miles from the pin point listed. The car was abandoned with windows rolled down, and left a completely filthy disgusting mess. I even followed the owners with THEIR OWN abandoned car. I didnt plan that. I was going to run errands. I've cleaned many filthy cars and put a full tank of gas in those who were left on empty. Did they ask me to do it? No. I did it on my own volition. My point is any service is a two way street. It really upsets me that when I needed help they wasted my time and energy instead of doing what it took to correct it the first time. I don't know about you but I believe EVERY part of the puzzle is important. I don't care what position you have, its equally important as the rest. I expect better than this

Reembrustment

The day of my reservation the host canceled due to a issue with the car..I had rush to get a car I didnt want. The car was dirty I took pictures when I did the inspection.. My next question is I rented from buggys and i was thinking about renting again but I dont see a deposit..can you tell me why?

Getaround is charging me for a poorly maintained car that I rented

I rented a getaround car, and 7 miles into my drive, the engine started making funny noises. Now they are expecting me to pay for this, even though there was no accident or damage that I caused. DO NOT USE GETAROUND.

Left my set of keys in a blue Honda/Toyota

I left my keys in a rental blue rental mini truck either a Honda or a Toyota that was rented in Brooklyn, NY by a mobile app user named Marcus, West Indian living in East New York. He came to the Bronx and when we were in the car he parked on East 151 between Morris Ave and Courtlandt Ave. 3/24/2023.

Ripped off

I was charged over 600 dollars for a car that I never got because the owner backed out the last minute. I was forced to rent from another expensive company and then getaround charged making my account negative. Then I havent been called back after several emails. horrible experience.

ADITIONAL UN-AUTHORISED FEES & more FEES

Im not waiting my time by writing a lengthy review, you (the consumer) will have to experience the frustration with Getaround for yourself.. Its incredible this company is still in buisness in California the way they suck bank accounts dry with no remorse of refunds for unfair un-authorized charges of FEES you are charged due to a previous renters non-compliance. For example, if the vehicle you rent had an empty tank at time of pickup.. you will automatically be charged what it costs to fillip the tank which in my case was $130 out of my bank account. WTF ! Gettaround Needs to have someone SUE ! ! !

Great idea but they aren’t capable of running it successfully

I rented a car for my first time. Ive heard about get around through word-of-mouth. I got my car for a day everything went smoothly. I picked it up. Drove it back to my place. Continued on with my day running my errands. It really helped me throughout the day. Seeing that I dont have a car right now and it was much more affordable than taking Ubers everywhere. Everything went very well for the day the next morning the car was due back at 9 AM. I was up at 7 AM. I tried to log into my account a little after 8 when I noticed my car was gone in my account. I believe the section is called my trip. You can open it up. See how many hours you have left on the car. You can lock the doors. Theres a few other features as well, but without it, there is absolutely nothing you can do sometimes even including opening the car door in my case, I had the actual keys as well so even though I couldnt unlock the door, I was able to do it manually, the problem was when you drop the car off you have to take pictures of it let them know you dropped it off confirm everything etc. I spent the majority of my day trying to get a hold of customer service at Getaround. There is no phone number listed for them anywhere on the Internet , I take that back there is one, but its an old getaway number that answers as them but says that its no longer a working number. I spent my whole morning emailing get-around the other problem is they dont respond right away and theres no chat either. I dont know what kind of company rents out. Anything little alone vehicles when people have active trips going on that theres no way of immediately reaching them. I think thats absolutely absurd. of course eventually the host called me because he had my number I believe through the app making sure everything was OK. I told him what was going on. He told me to call in, I told him I couldnt. He somehow had a number which I called immediately and got through. I explained the whole situation and the frustrating part was a couple things one they were acting like the error was on my part because I was a new user and thats why It messed up when that wasnt the case at all, Ive rented other cars before like Turo I can navigate pretty well on my iPhone. One of the problems was there was never any kind of apology. you know Im sorry for the inconvenience. Nothing like that, It felt like I called someones house and their mom answered the phone. It was very unprofessional and organized and after a while of trying to work out how to get the car back to where I picked it up from. I started to feel kind of like I was getting scammed. They were trying to charge me more money to return the car a few miles away to drop it off they didnt take any ownership of anything and even if they did think it was on my part for being a new user, I dont understand why they were trying to charge me more money just to drop the car off so the host could easily pick up his car which by the way, I felt terrible for the host during all this because obviously he had nothing to do with any of it, but anyway I ended up extending the car for another day. I figured if they were going to charge me I might as well get it another day because extending to drive it back to where I got it from was almost $30 and to extend it for a whole day. It was about $60 so I just got it another day. Well that was a big mistake because the following day the exact same thing happened all over again I found out what happened the first day was I had two accounts I created with my two emails that are very similar but that was just for the first day. The second day I was in my active account and once again I couldnt get into the trips portion of the app the first time it was non existent this time it was there, but it would not allow me to open it up, so there is serious problems with the app itself, and again I had to start the process of trying to call and I unfortunately didnt save the number from the day before so I was right back in the same position of trying to call in all morning. I finally just ended up taking the car back I dropped it off. I took my own pictures of the car. At this point I was so furious after I drop the car off I didnt even want to attempt to continue to try to reach them even though I had paid a lot of money for renting a car for two days plus a $250 deposit, but it gets worse, I noticed it later on that day that the day before when I hadnt turned the car in and they didnt know what was going on they attempted and were successful in charging my card over and over and over and over and over again yes, five times to charge my car for extensions that I was completely unaware of. They took it upon themselves to just take money out of my account because of the air that they made , so I called in and I asked what the *** that was all about. They told me well they have a procedure of when they cant get a hold of the guest. They extend the trip themselves each half hour or hour i cant remember . I said that doesnt make any sense because theyre all different amounts. Then the response I was given after that was just ridiculous. It was insulting my intelligence, and I think it was even insulting to the person who is trying to tell me the BS that they were telling me. I still dont know why that was done. I havent been given a reason whatsoever And right after I noticed all these extensions that they charge me, I looked at my bill and it was that over $500 so a total of two day trip that they screwed up. They were at this point charging me around $800 for a car that was costing under 50$ a day. I made a couple more attempts to try to resolve this. I finally was just completely frustrated and exhausted that I gave up. However, I did tell them that I want my money back I wanted a full refund for everything. Since I have told them that I have gotten to three different messages, none of them even addressing the fact that I wanted answers and I wanted a refund they use their message system as a way to turn a blind eye on problems it feels like. It turned into one of the worst experiences Ive ever had from an app and I dont know if it was just bad luck or them having a bad couple days or what or if this is an ongoing thing but after my experience I can ever tell her suggest anyone to run out and use the Getaround app because they completely screwed me. I had to contact my bank and dispute the charges and now I have to wait for my bank to resolve it not get around because apparently theyre incompetent of doing that and take no responsibility for their actions whatsoever. Just recapping this whole thing for you has got me furious all over again.

BAD RENTAL PRACTICES/LOCKED ME OUT OF RENTAL

We rented a car from Getaround.com. We were driving through central Nevada and realized we need to extend the rental for another day. we pulled over to attempt to contact Getaround with no success due to lack of cellular/Internet service. After stretching our legs we attempted to get back in the rental but the doors were locked remotely by Getaround in the middle of the HOT NEVADA DESERT. We had no water and no medication it was locked in the car. We were extremely confused and HOT and needed water. We tried to contact Getaround to extend our rental but was unsuccessful. I had to hitch a ride to the nearest cell or Wifi service which was fifty miles south where I was able to contact Getaround customer service to find out WHY we were locked out of the vehicle. I was told that we were locked out because Getaround was unable to charge $31.00 from my Bank of America debit. Told them to rerun the transaction of which it was successful and along with another day rental. I asked customer service why they locked us out and I was told it was because they could not charge the $31.00. I explained to them that we were in the middle of the HOT NEVADA DESERT without water and our prescription medications because they were locked in the car. Finally Getaround unlocked the rental. It is sad and concerning that Getaround was more interested in getting their money than the health of their customers.I would also like to point out a couple more issues; The ad stated the vehicle had cruise control and it DID NOT and it had a transmission issue that I was unable to diagnose. We proceeded to Arizona and pulled over on Hwy93 to rest. We were awakened by the cell phone, upon answering we were being threatened by someone saying they were the owner of the car and threatening to report the car stolen and I explained to him that I extended the rental and WHY was he contacting me and not customer service. He was very rude, yelling and threatening to report his car stolen. I was very upset and confused as to why we were being contacted by the owner and not Getaround. I contacted Getaround and complained. We arrived back in Phoenix AZ and got our belongings out of rental and proceeded to clean and gas up so we could return it, WHEN WE WERE LOCKED OUT OF THE RENTAL ONCE AGAIN. I (Michael) contacted CS to complain at the same time Getaround was trying to call me, I didn't answer that incoming call because I was already on the phone with Getaround. Since I didn't answer they thought I was ignoring them. About forty-five minutes later Getaround came a got the vehicle. I also filed a complaint with Arizona Attorney Generals Office & Better Business Bureau!!!
