Over priced Stratocaster Squier electric guitar of extremely poor quality

I bought the guitar on the Fender website for $400.00 dollars to find out their dealers were selling it for 1/2 the price. (Just a little history about Fender) Fender was sold to CBS in1965 Leo Fender and George Fullerton started a company called G&L in the early 1970's(Now there is a real guitar) Anyway for those of you shopping for your first guitar, avoid the Stratocaster Squier. It is a toy made with pots(tone and volume) made in Korea at a cost around $3.00 a piece, a 5 way switch that cost around $8.00, pickups I could not even identify, a ultra thin neck with only 21 frets(should be 22). When I texted Fenders customer service I history lesson on how great the guitar was and that was all So to make a long story shorter avoid Fender altogether. They are not who they say they are

Fraudulent business

Ordered a microphone advertised on sale on September 1st 2022 from fender.com. Was promised 2-7 business days delivery however no tracking number was sent to me. I called Fender 800 number 3 times and was on hold 40-45 minutes with no answer. They prompt you to contact consumerrelations if you dont have 3-4 hours to wait on hold. After sending them 3 emails still no reply. Had to call and pretend to buy something and after 18 minutes holding finally got a CSR on phone. She apologized and offered to refund my purchase price but for all my trouble she VOLUNTEERED to send me the microphone anyway. After a week had passed she still couldnt confirm when or if the microphone had been sent out but offered to have him call me. He did and did nothing but patronize me for 2 hours and 24 minutes over the phone explaining how they are located in Arizona with a big warehouse in San Bernardino CA where the microphones were stored. He gave me some BS about having to first TEST the microphone before they could send it out which he later admitted was only a batch test as I asked him why you would place an item on sale and tell the customer it shipped if that was all bull? Without a tracking number as well. He deflected by saying they only had 14 people to respond to thousands of emails daily ( more lame excuses) and said he had brought up these issues with upper management to no avail. Now, almost 2 weeks later, still no microphone and no update. I see that Fender reviews have a poor 2.7 rating overall. If I could give them a negative review number I would. BUYER BEWARE! Fender.com is fraudulent and will lie to you and have you chasing down your order exhausting hours of your time with zero results. They should and will be reported to the Inspector General as well as a consumer complaint filed against them for mail fraud. Simply refunding my money is a small pittance in return for the time trying to find out WTHis going on with my order. In summary, do yourself a favor. STAY TOTALLY AWAY FROM FENDER.COM! Go to Sweetwater.com or GuitarCenter for online purchases. They will jump through hoops to maintain you as their client and you will not go through the *** and chaos I was put through. As far as I am concerned Fenders name is mud and truly means nothing anymore as a Brand and I will never buy ANYTHING from them again! PERIOD! BUYER BEWARE! RED FLAGS ARE FLYING HIGH with these clowns. You have been warned! If you want them to take your money, then not deliver what you ordered, then BS you about it for hours and days, then FENDER.COM is the company for you! Date of experience: August 31, 2022

Poor quality

Purchased " custom" telecaster with dual humbuckers on May 17 2922. Beautiful guitar. The neck pick-up has failed. It is not 90 days old and has never left my spare bedroom/music room. The signal drops out as you're strumming along.with the selector switch in neck pick-up position. I can get no help from Fender. They have poor quality control and worse customer service. This is not the same Fender I have been dealing with for over 40 years. It's sad when any company won't stand behind their product. Don't buy into the Fender mystique. Lots of great guitars out there

Resolved: Recording issue with mustang micro

Updated by user Aug 08, 2022

Fender explained that it would take more power from the iPad or iPhone for it to work than what these devices can deliver. When something is plugged into the USB-C plug on the micro mustang it uses that power and not the built in battery.

As fas as it working some days and not others. I don’t know.

It’s just not designed to work as an interface. I bought an iRig so that I record and I practice with the micro mustang.

My mustang micro worked intermittently while interfacing with GarageBand. I updated the firmware and bought new cables without changing the outcome. I noticed that the unit would not reboot. I called support and they told me this device should not work with GarageBand but I see everyone successfully doing this on google. He told me that if I could supply him with a receipt he would replace the unit because the unit would not reboot successfully. I did but I havent heard anything back from him. Im giving up and bought an iRig unit. Waiting for shipment

Resolved: Originality of Voodoo Stratocaster

Updated by user Mar 10, 2022

Company fixed the issue and I have been provided with full refund.

The woman who helped me was fantastic and very knowledgeable. She was patient and courteous. She save me from being ripped off on a guitar that was not what the seller claimed the guitar to be. Thank you Fender, and more than that, thank you for hiring a real person to speak to. This is why Fender is still an outstanding guitar manufacturer after all these years. AAA+ The seller claimed the guitar had original pick-ups and pots. And was made in 1997, the serial number on the neck was correct but the pickups were not what he claimed and Fender caught it and you can see the body is stamped 02-1999. The serial number on the neck didnt match the body,

False Advertising and Refusal to Honor Warranty

Updated by user Nov 22, 2021
The local Fender tech has destroyed my bass, and sent photos to Fender, and told me that I am going to be reimbursed. It's been several weeks, and Fender will not respond to my emails asking when I should expect to see the reimbursement check. So now I'm out $320, plus...

I purchased a Gretsch G2220 Electromatic Jet Jr bass from Musician's Friend back last spring. It was a $300 bass, that is advertised as being equipped with "two dual-coil humbucking pickups." Mine does not have that. Mine has two overwound single coils, and what looks to be two rail magnets at the center of the massive single coil. Normally, a rail mini humbucker like this would have individual bobbins around which the pickup wire is wound in opposite directions. The magnets are opposite polarity, and the effect is to cancel any radio-induced signal noise picked up by the coils acting as antennas, as in single coils. I've attached images of the garbage that came installed vs what a dual coil mini humbucker SHOULD look like. There are no bobbins. Instead, the pickup wire is just wrapped around these two rail magnets that are pinched together in the center. What's worse, is both the pickups are labeled "bridge." The pickups buzzed when soloed, and buzzed even worse when combined. I brought this bass into a Fender Certified Technician in South Portland, who held on to it for 3 months, claiming that Fender wouldn't get back to him. I contacted Fender Customer Service, they said essentially that he was lying. I had to move, so I arranged to pick the bass up from him. Now the neck pickup was incredibly quiet. The bass did not function well to start, and was now even worse. I brought the bass in to another Fender Certified Tech in Lewiston, Maine. He assured me that Fender was urgently working on the problem, and would send out a new bass for me to gig on, and replacement pickups to solve the problem. After two months of waiting, (and neither of these promises being filled) I was informed that Fender claims that the bass is supposed to have two single coil pickups that buzz horribly, and that it is "in humbucking mode" when both are activated. Which makes zero sense, because they are both labeled "bridge" and have the same polarity. Also, it is advertised as having two dual coil humbucking pickups, and that's clearly a line of *** from Fender that should insult the intelligence of anyone on the receiving end. It's been a total of 6 months of waiting now. Fender continues to refuse to honor their warranty, and is lying to my face as if I'm an idiot who doesn't know anything about pickups. If they had just sent properly wound pickups out, this whole problem could have gone away, but I'm seriously considering finding a lawyer to sue them for false advertising and refusal to honor their warranty. I'm a gigging musician, and I was looking forwards to playing on this bass at shows now that COVID restrictions are being lifted, but I have not had my instrument to play shows for the entire time that I've been musically active. Frankly, I do not think I will buy a Fender product again if it can be at all helped. It's hard because they own most of the brands on the market.

3 Bad American Jazz Basses in a Row!

Today I’m packing up the third Fender American Jazz Bass to return within 3 weeks. They were all purchased from Zzounds and we’re all BAD! The first two were American Elite series and the only thing “Elite” about them were their appearance. The first one produced so much noise when the preamp was engaged it was simply unbearable. The serial number was US1702**** The second one was better but when the preamp was engaged you had to turn the treble all the way down. The serial number for that one was US1709**** After the issues with the two active basses I decided to go with a passive American Original 70’s Jazz Bass. As soon as I opened the case I noticed the E string was further away from the edge of the neck than it should be. After closer inspection I realized the E string didn’t line up in the center of the pickup poles but to right or the bottom pole. I also noticed that the A and D strings sound dead no matter what adjustments you make. I put a new set of strings on the bass made some minor bridge adjustments but to no avail. I called Fender and they said this couldn’t be repaired. Fender acted like they didn’t even care and didn’t bother to take the serial numbers to see if they’d had a bad Q.C. Run. They just didn’t care. The serial number for this bass is V173**** If you get these serial numbers these basses aren’t new and have major issues!

Great Brand, Poor Customer Service

Hey there, also frustrated about total lack of customer service. i love fender as a brand and i play a strat to make a living, but when you try to call and they have some joke answering machine about a fake party you have to wonder who's allowing us to end up in limbo waiting. They have not mailed all of my orders from almost 3 full weeks ago, which were supposed to be overnight so i could give them as christmas gift. after many calls they offered to send me the order items for free because its far too late to give them as gifts now. They ended up sending me 2 of the same t shirts and still charged my account 26 dollars and something cents. weeks now and still havent gotten it all, their excuse was that they were moving their warehouse from Ontario, California to San Bernandino, California a week before christmas which is not a brilliant strategy, and that a lot of orders were backed up. In my opinion, fender makes great guitars but you should go to a trusted authorized dealer of fender instruments rather than trying to go straight to them. As I expected, This corporation is no better or superior in service than any other. I will still play their guitars and amps but i will not be ordering from the company directly anymore, waste of time. Support a small business instead.

Fender company the worst

Ordered a guitar next day air 4 days and no guitar or update on my order. Called customer service recording that everyone was at a Christmas party be back in one hour five hours later still at the party recording would not even let u leave a message. The absolute worst customer service in the world. When I sent complaint 5 days later no answer even though guarantee answer in two days. Don't waste your time or money with this company. I have purchased 8 of their guitars in three years but will never buy from them or buy their product again. Companies like this are that treat customers like this should remember. You build a company one customer at a time and you can destroy a company one customer at a time.

Forced to accept

I live in Indonesia. I bought 2 Squire guitars online, via an Indonesian retailer for Fender / Squier products. It took almost two weeks to finally heard from the store that the units are already available in the store (from the warehouse), but not processed for delivery. Had i not called, i probably would not have received the guitars today. A Sales assistant asked me to get the guitars from the store although the purchase specifically asked for delivery address, my house. The guitars were finally delivered, and i found out that one guitar is actually not the one i ordered, as i opened the carton. I threw away the carton - thinking that it was not important (no mentioning that i must keep the carton either). Boy, I was wrong. The next day i called the store to inform them about their mishaps and they agreed to collect the guitar and will place another order with the manufacturer/distributor. This morning i received a phone call from another sales assistant asking where the carton is, and that without the carton i have no other option but to take the guitar that i never chose to buy. I am forced to take the guitar, because i threw away the packaging. What a service.
