I think very sloppy work why would they leave the hood on to pull a eng I saw on show on a 57 Chevy they wait till just before paint to check the eng and discover water in the oil that all should have

Water in oil should have been checked before paint. Just sloppy work in winter looks like the guys are freezing I worked in a truck shop in Wisconsin we had heat to me I wouldn't take my go cart to have them fix it. His brake check I would want new tires after that no reason at all to lock up the brakes that hard to where they are flat spotted

Love the place

No complaints the place is great and so are the people at work there. Its nice to see Dan interacting with all the customers. Theres no doubt I would go there if I lived closer with my old 442

Response to a review

Some people have unachiveable expectations about their cars and think that if it can't be fixed they shouldn't be charged for anything. They ignore the labor and work involved in reaching the conclusion that their car either can't be fixed or the cost would be excessive.

Consumer dummies

Most people don't have a clue as to what makes vehicles tick. Then they want everything done for free no matter if it takes hours of your time, they want it for free and will whine and complain like spoiled brats until they get it. Then they post total bull *** on line thinking others will believe their bs. Get a life you dumb *** !!

Knowledge

Dan I know you know your stuff but I was working in a Chevy dealer in 67 and the stock V8 engine was a 327 with a two barrel carburetor And yes it was a small journal crank.

People who don't understand what it's like to take a Vintage car in for repairs

Do you think mechanics work for free ? anytime you go INSIDE any car over 25 years old, you hope they can fix it for the price quoted, The Next time you call a Plumber to unclog the kitchen sink and they quote you $199 and when they leave they charge you $399 because the main line was plugged...... you may be upset but you pay because..... it's the same thing here.. At Phantom Works or Bobs Plumbing....they gave you an ESTIMATE.....right.... did they tell you to pay in advance ? ESTIMATE. I have a '97 Triple White Firebird Convertible w/38k and a '95 Triple Black T/A w/138k and every time I take them in I HOPE they come close to the ESTIMATE, when they don't it's because they are old and everything the shop touches is OLD.

No reason

Never had work done by them but if they are anything like the TV show I never would. I have never seen so many drama queens in my life. And the way I see this clown check brakes is unbelievable. They don't seem very professional and the owner appears to be a real jerk to deal with good luck g

Dan sucks

How about that episode where he took that mustang to SEMA. If you watch when he adjusted that coil over with that spanner wrench he didnt have he scratched the *** out of that car. I wouldnt give this guy a dime to do my work. If you watch this show versus other ones like *** rides and Martin brothers. He just does *** WORK. HES A TOOL.

Grow up and clean up your language. I like the attention to detail and your rolling coverage as the work progresses, but I often turn you off due to your language. It's never necessary to curse.

Woodchucks Metro Van TV episode

Upon watching Fantom Works on Motor Trend, I watched the episode several times with the Metro van for Woodchucks Contractors. This van was full of flaws to include, orange peel in the paint, sloppy seems and body work on the body and inside panels, they even did a close up inside the gas cap and holy dirt, imperfection. If these flaws are that visible on TV imagine how bad they are in person. I hope the owners are happy with what they paid for, because that would not fly where I come from.

They suck!

All they do is *** about everything. And their work is not that great! His guys cant rebuild a Holley carb!!!! He sounds like he rips every one off.

My opinion

Really interesting reading people ranting, its a TV show, you like the show " watch it " if you don't " turn off"some people don't like so called bad news about their cars problems, others appreciate his honesty, being charged for investigating an issue is perfectly normal, you can decide to pay what's required to make your car correct and safe,or walk away, he's not chaining customers to the table, they can walk away. Adding a 25% mark up on parts, covers however has to take the time and effort to source the materials needed, I doubt Audrey works for free.

Because

The gto episode where the guy got a $75,000 insurance check for his 65 gto damage. and Dan said he couldn't get parts for a 65 gto??? And there was no way to fix that car for $75k?? That's bs!! Any good shop could have got the parts needed and did the work for under $25k easy. And the episode with silver impala convertible i think it was a 63 or 64? Anyway he just hired the new fabricator, and he started doing floors etc! They told him there were new quarters on the shelf, and he took it at that. Then when the time came to put them on he told Dan they were hard top quarters not conv. Dan freaked out on the poor guy. Even i was saying hello Dan they don't make convertible quarters. And Dan was blaming the new guy for something Dan should have known. after that i hated the show.
