"100% payment required or we will cancel your job."

Original review Aug 14, 2023
Express Flooring demanded !00% payment before a single worker even appeared to do our installation. This was after giving then 25% down when the salesman (Frank Linden) was here two weeks ago.. The salesman never said that the balance would be due on the first morning of the installation or the contract would be cancelled, but that's what the girl from the accounting/finance dept. told me on the phone. We paid Express Flooring $25% down and as long as I have lived, the balance due was paid upon completion of the project. What gives? Such a poor business practice. Why the threats to cancel our job without full payment? Why such a knife-to-the-throat action for their customer when we have already given them $6,000? Express Flooring has a very rude way of handling their customers and is rather sneaky to demand full payment before even starting when that was never told to us by the salesman (Frank Linden). A business practice like that should be made known when it is completely different than what people have dealt with their entire lives. What's the point of giving you 25% down if they want 100% payment before they even let the flooring crew arrive for the first day? I would not recommend using Express Flooring because of this severely flawed business practice. If they do not trust their customer to fulfill a contract with them, then it is a symptom of deeper corporate negative opinions of their lifeblood, the customer, imo!

Flooring Install Nightmare

Im going to start that the flooring install looks good. But behind the good looks there is the experience which was not good. The Consultation went fair. The sales person used some pressure tatics and we felt rushed in our decision. He gave a brief summary of what the installation would be like, Demo, Install and clean up. He gets a 3 star. The installation was the nightmare. The installer was 3rd party and shared he was a sub contractor as the original contractor could not do the job and asked him for a favor. Red Flag. This person during the installation was very negative about Express and scared the daylights out of us because he made it feel like the demo work he needed to do would cause my estimate to inflate dramatically. There were some cracks in the foundation, which had been patched in a previous remodel. They were not bad and didn't need any grinding or extra work. The installer made it seem like were going to have lots of extra charges for this too. When Demoing another room the thinset used was pretty heavy on oneside, he made it out to be this horrible job and were gonna be charged for this removal. The installer did not have the proper tools to address this and had to push the demo out another day. The cracks resealed, again no major work, took the guy a total of 1 hour each room to fill. Thankfully this was not added to our bill as there were no major repairs. The next issue with this installer was the lack of sealing up vents and rooms. They used a thin plastic sheet and painters tape in erratic spots to hold up the plastic. This left gaps which the dust was able to penetrate, our vents were not covered and dust was through out the home. While I understand there would be some dust during demo, the sheer lack of sealing off vents and rooms left our home a nightmare to clean. The only thing covered well was my Television. All the other fixtures were loosely covered. Their clean up was to take a dirty rag and move the dust on the floor. They did some vacuuming but not enough to address the dust. We ended up spending hours a full day to Free our home of the dust. Express did have a QA guy come out to check after I raised my concerns. Again 3rd party, took some photos and left. I Don't know if that caused the Installer to change his tune but it was too late. Unfortunately the damage was done, I had no faith in the company, the installer, the process, etc. I couldn't stop the project, and demand a refund. I was bent over and put in a uncomfortable situation. The Installer ruined our experience and I will never ever recommend this company to anyone. Bottom Line, Rushed and pressured sales, horrible contractor/installer. The price I paid this company doesn't justify the experience even though the flooring looks good. Customer gets a negative experience and the company gets paid. Be mindful when considering this organization.

*** install/HORRIBLE customer service

We contracted to have flooring installed. We are BEYOND disgusted with the entire process! ZERO communication! If we cannot communicate due to language barriers, then they should provide an interpreter!

I need to be reimbursed fro work we had to have done to correct the recent carpet install

They used the wrong size pad of both the salesman and the installers were told but they went ahead and used in one of the bedrooms done . hence unable to open or close hanging closet doors. After $90 in addition we paid out to have this situation rectified and the fact that you don't even start the installation until we paid up front seems to me you all have obvious issues within your organization I would like to get my $90 refunded. Also I have left messages for Cathy on several occasions as she never seems to answer her phone or return calls. And they tell me she is the decision maker. No wonder you so many customers posting so many complaints

Sold me one product and tried to delivery a floor of less value.

Purchase Wooden Vinyl Plan flooring but tried to install just vinyl flooring. I stop the installation. I could not get the manager or the salesmen to call until I insisted talking to the President who does not talk to his customer. I finally, received call from sales manger and called my order which also include $3,899 in carpet purchase and installation the next day. The next day, the carpet and installers showed and I sent them away. Still have not received my refund after promised in writing from the sales manager. after

Bad service

Never show up when scheduled and when they do, they can't fix any problems and have to order a part that will take 2 weeks to come and another 2 weeks to get scheduled. Call the service department and have to deal with someone that trys to overtalk you, thinks this action will make you feel insecure!

I do not recommend Express Flooring. I made a huge mistake by hiring them.

My vinyl plank floors look cheap. I was told by the salesman that I purchased top of the line fIooring. There are long areas that have ripples, and I was told it was because the concrete underneath the vinyl was uneven. When the installer saw what was happening, he said for an additional sum of money, he could level the concrete. I paid much too much money for this floor and I think this shouldn't have come as a surprise. I should have been made aware of this, first by the salesman , then by the installer. Now, everyone who responds to my complaint, says if I want some of the concrete straightened, it will be at my expense. Would I ever recommend Express Flooring? Not on your life!

Won't resolve poor installation, won't return calls

Updated by user Jul 15, 2019
Update July 14, 2019: Got better Business Bureau involved. Express Flooring fixed the lumps (caused by defective padding).

They remounted living room railing to wall but refused to mount to the floor! Refused to install railing base the same way it was before they did the work (mounting tab hidden under carpet). Refused to fix carpet seam in master bedroom doorway. Repaired doorway seam poorly (crooked) to guest bedroom.

Made no attempt to fix floor molding installers broke. Informed BBB of the above on about 7/3/19. Am still waiting for their response.

Express Flooring is BBB-accredited, but I am doubting the BBB will be effective. Still recommend no one use Express Flooring.

Recommend no one use this company. Over-priced, poor quality carpet. Installers started late. Installers pulled up old carpet then had to wait 2 hours for the new carpet to arrive. Took two days to do a lining room, hallway and two stairs. Installers dis-mounted railing to sunken living room and did not re-mount. Carpet improperly installed in hallway (seams NOT under doors so can see two different colors)! Carpet has LUMPS! Reported all problems to company last month. Made several appointments to have them come out to look at the problems. They do not keep appointments (no-show). Now am getting a run-around. Been fighting them since the 6th of last month. Someone was supposed to fix the problems today (June 10), they are a no-show. Spoke with everyone in their customer support department: no one takes ownership of the problems. Service manager (Brett) avoiding me. Ask for supervisors, get dropped into voice mail. This company can not be trusted. Wish they would remove what they installed and give full refund. This company stinks.

Express Flooring, LLC

These guys are the worst! I would give the 0 stars If I could. They pressured my elderly parents into paying 10K for a two room carpet install, I had priced by Home Depot for $1500, and the Home Depot carpet was better quality. I looked them up online and I was shocked by how many complaints they had, Even a 100K settlement with the Arizona Attorney General. The company is run by: Mr. Henry Jaffe, General Manager, Mr. Jerry Lederer, President and Mr. Richard Duran, Sales Manager. To add insult to Injury they had poor workmanship, a bad product, and were way overpriced. I reported them of AZ Registrar of Contactors: http://www.rc.state.az.us/ Buyer beware, Avoid these Guys!!!
