They shut are card after we missed one payment because our mail was stolen!

I have never had this happen in my business or personal life! Why have credit in your name if you do this to customer! I will be switching to a new credit card service asap! They called it a minor delinquency! If its minor why shut down the card!

They suck.....

Late or missing statements result in late fees. Due to not receiving any notice of payment due. Reduced credit limit from 5k to 500 with no notice due to inactivity on card. Customer support sucks and the interest rates are higher than most.

Disappointed customer

After 8 yes of this card I found they manipulate your fico score by changing your credit limit and then charge bogus fees

FRAUD!

I paid a monthly payment on my CC and Elan Financial messed up and debited it twice out of my account. (Over $1,000 dollars) I called in and asked if they could refund the second payment they debited. They agreed and said it would take 2 business days. I responded with No Problem that sounds great, accidents happen. Three business days go by and no money yet. I called and the new female on the line informs me, after a 14 minute wait, that it is a mandatory 7 business days to get it returned. NOT what I was told. I asked her to honor what the woman told me initially and was told sorry. Well guess what, you just lost ALL of my business! BTW, this is the first review I have ever left anyone/anything. That is how unprofessional I feel your business is!

To ask a question about my account

I could not seem to get anyone to speak with. Not unusual though since it seems every business now is like this. Poor customer service.

What a scam of a credit card company

Original review Dec 05, 2022
This company closed our business credit card without notice saying that they did not have an ID on file and needed to verify the owner of the business through their verification dept due to government requirements. We had the card since 2018So it did not make since. This started when we tried to redeem over 100.000 reward points. Sent them what they asked for and they lied and said the cc was taken off of restriction. And it was not. Now we just get the run around when we call or get hung up on or sent to their survey. We will be exploring our legal Options for absolute Fraud! They also lifted our interest rate from 12.2 to 26.4 and we pay thousands of dollars on card Each month on time!

No fraud protection

No fraud protection available against scammers . When I was able to get hold of a actual person they were condescending and rude to me and told it was my fault I got scanned and they weren't gonna do anything about it

The great customer service

I'm a senior that has trouble navigating the internet. The patience and care I was given was above great. Taylor and Daisy handled my call. Both took a great deal of time to help me. Taylor informed me of how credits can be used. Both are outstanding employees. It makes me know I made the right choice for my credit card. Thanks Again. H. Anderson .

Joint account customer of 25 years plus has card declined after spouse dies

I spent 2.5 hours on the phone trying to sort through the problem.. I was transferred to EIGHT different representatives from 3 different departments, given a non-Fidelity rewards phone number to follow up and ultimately told to resend the death certificate ( second time) even though I was told by each department that it was listed on the file , ineptness, incompetent , insensitive! Now I wait 4-5 days for review for a JOINT ACCOUNT! You cannot speak to anyone but a low level representative .. they will not flag you for a supervisor to return your call. I have NO CONFIDENCE in ELAN.

Different answer every time

Received a letter stating that my account was closed because it had been past due. The account was set up on automatic payment and was never past due. I contacted the company and was told that it had been past due. I asked them to prove such, and they told me that the only way to do so was to send me statement copies and that it would cost me $5.each. I told the representative that want I wanted was a spreadsheet showing statement date statement amount, due date, date paid and amount paid. They told me that they could not provide this information. Being frustrated with the lack of response, I contacted the CFPB. Today I received the response, which was that the letter that was sent was incorrect, misleading and [my words] a lie. While I had the account with Elan, I moved. I notified the bank through which I opened the account numerous times that I have moved. In fact, I had had numerous conversations with the local branch manager during the home purchase process as I had money coming from various sources and opened an account solely for the purpose of holding the funds until closing. I had numerous accounts at the bank, and it took months for them to change the address on all the bank accounts. Why they did not deal with the address change on the credit card account remains a mystery. Elan's story today is that they closed the account because the statements were being returned. All they had to do was pick up the phone and find out what the issue was, and they could have retained a customer. I guess that is tooooo much work. Instead, they closed the account and then lied as to the reason why the account was closed. I should point out that Elan sent me every statement since the account was opened until the date that it was closed, despite the fact that this was not requested.

Over $6,000 in interest charges, finance charges, and late fees.

STAY AWAY FROM ELAN FINANCIAL. If I could give zero stars and still leave a review, I would. I signed up for a balance-transfer credit card with Comerica in 2020, just pre-pandemic, at 23 years old. ABSOLUTELY NO information was shared with me regarding interest, rates, variables, when the interest would begin, ABSOLUTELY NO INFO. I was instead given this card and sent on my way, assured that this was a good decision, it would build my credit, and free me from debt. I made 100% on-time and more-than-the-minimum payments with no error for nearly two years and was in good standing. In October 2021, I checked my account to find, in horror, that I was being charged nearly $300 in interest twice a month for I don't know how long and there were late fees everywhere - when I never had a late payment once. All of these charges had racked up to a grand total of over $6,000, left for me to be responsible for. My minimum payment was then increased to over $700/month. I spent months going between Elan and Comerica, demanding that this be remedied. When I went into my local Comerica branch, the same representative who had signed me up for the card said to me, as I was sitting before her in tears, "Yeah, it seems like a lot of money now, but it sure didn't seem like a lot when you were swiping, now did it?" insinuating that this massive debt I found myself in was my fault and implying that I was financially irresponsible. Much more than half of this massive balance could be traced back and attributed to Elan's fees - NOT my credit card use. She then told me that, in order to be put on a renegotiated payment plan, I needed to LET ELAN SEND ME TO COLLECTIONS, and that I needed to be 'prepared' for this to ruin my credit. I did as she said, and in December 2021, was put on a 'hardship' plan and ordered to pay $121/month on the last day of the month for the next five years. The first month went as planned, and then after that, my agreed-to payment of $121 was raised to $242 without my consent or knowledge, and I noticed in February, before I made a payment, the app said said a payment was not due until March 16th, rather than February 28th. I called Cardmember Service to clarify this, and they confirmed that that info was correct. I made a payment on March 15th as I was told. Next thing I know, my minimum payment doubled again and I was being bombarded with phone calls demanding to know why my payment was late - even AFTER I explained that I was told by an Elan representative that my payment was not due until the 15th. They were constantly calling me, changing due dates, changing minimum payments, and ruining my credit. I will never ever associate with Elan Financial again, and will be leaving Comerica Bank as well. FOR YOUR OWN FINANCIAL AND MENTAL WELLBEING, STAY AWAY FROM ELAN FINANCIAL.
